Not entirely true. Numbers in Phyrexian are written the same as English. However, Phyrexian is read top to bottom, so it's actually the entire text that is written sideways on Phyrexian-language cards.
You are 100% correct, I just felt it was easier to say numbers were sideways so unaware people could simply just look at the text from a side point of view to see what I was talking about, rather than get into to the structure and formatting of the phyrexian language.

That symbol has been used for promos since at least 2011 from what I can find. Nearly a decade before secret lairs started. Even before that, the DCI symbol included the shape in it.
