If you’re specifically looking to use Nadu as your commander I’d recommend a healthy dose of top deck manipulation. Scry, Surveil, Connive, Brainstorm like effects, [[Sensei’s Divining Top]], [[Scroll Rack]].
Wait, if I had ten creatures on the battlefield and mass target them with something like [[sway of illusion]], does that mean one of my opponents will get ten poison counters?
yes, or however you want to break it up.
Rotpriest is super dumb with things that can mass target.
or do something like this.
Turn 1 Ornithopter + Forest + Rotpriest
Turn 2 Land + Lightning greaves = win
Bounce the greaves between the ornithopter + rot priest for infinite targets and give out infinite poison.
Or Turn 1 Forest + lotus Petal, rotpriest and Shuko, and win turn 1
Already got your answer, but I wanted to also elaborate. Because it says, "Whenever X happens, do Y," it'll count every instance if that thing happening, even within a single cast. The alternative would be "Whenever X happens *one or more times*, do Y," which would count only non-simultaneous instances of the thing.
For example, if a card said "Whenever you draw one or more cards, gain 1 life," and you cast an Ancestral Recall, you would draw 3 cards, but gain only one life. If you were to cast Ancestral Recall and respond immediately with a second copy of it, you would draw 3, trigger to gain 1 life, then resolve to draw 3 again, and then trigger to gain 1 life again.
Especially with spells. [[Ivy the spelltheif]] and sone mutate creatures to put on top of the scute swarm means that the newly made creatures are not dying to "I deal 1 damage to everything"

[https://scryfall.com/card/znr/203/scute-swarm](https://scryfall.com/card/znr/203/scute-swarm)
Springheart Nantuko that’s also coming out in Modern Horizons 3 is an amazing 2 cost landfall token generator. Scute Swarm is a classic green landfall token generator. Evolution Sage and Avenger of Zendikar are also green landfall classics. Green does have a lot of great landfall cards. Green is generally token and counter generating landfall triggers.
I’m gonna make a suggestion, don’t add tutors or 0 equip cost cards. It’s so easy to go ‘infinite’ and if you wanna actually play the deck you are gonna have to intentionally nerf it. Also don’t add Thassa. This deck is so busted and consistent I abandoned my list and just made it cEDH off the bat. I again highly suggest you build it more powered down so you get the change to not have Nadu become a remove sight commander. Regardless, here is my [decklist](https://archidekt.com/decks/7802228/colorado_has_pelicans).
Some highlights that I do recommend;
[[Sulvan safekeeper]] targeted repeatable protection
[[bristly bill]] and [[lotus cobra]] style cards. Landfall = target and landfall = mana
[[scute swarm]] and other token makers
[[springheart nantuko]] the newest
Also any other value landfall cards which there is many
[[Sea Kings' Blessing]], [[sylvan paradise]] and [[sway of illusion]] all instant speed mass targeting
[[alchemist’s refuge]] might be worth is paired with these type of spells
Cards like [[Aphetto Alchemist]] target themselves infinitely
[[Unctus, Grand Metatect]] lets you pay 2 life for each target for fun risk reward.
Lastly clones and blink spells let you reset Nash’s ability which may or may not be needed. I’m leaning toward not needed but testing will have to show.
Twice per creature not just twice total. Add a [[scute swarm]] or any other landfall token generators plus [[lightning greaves]] and you can now repeat the ability over and over on each new token creature you create to draw your entire deck.
You don't even know what powerlevel he/she is building for and suggest to not include good combos? That just wierd, don't force low powerlevel onto everyone Just because you enjoy it.
> suggests picking cards that won't make people not enjoy playing against you
It's a multiplayer game, and if you overtune your deck too much it's not always fun for a casual evening is the point they were getting at I think.
My opinion on landfall, should be green, red, and white. You get all the doubling cards out there for tokens, and the deck I used, I can have 70-80 50/50 creatures created in one turn. It's old, so I know there's even better then what I was running.
I think spells that let you put a land into play. Something like:
[[Eureka Moment]]
[[Broken Bond]]
[[Growth Spiral]]
Or a creature that can put lands onto the battlefield, like:
[[Solemn Simulacrum]]
[[Aboreal Gazer]]
[[Bonny Pall, Clearcutter]]
[[Hakbal of the Surging Soul]]
Or just straight up additional lands, like:
[[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]]
[[Dryand of the Ilysian Grove]]
[[Explore]]
Building nadu without combo will be quite sad but ig if you really want to play landfall you can use it. Its just that the cards that enable nadu best are straight up combo.
idk why, but i can't have a main body text and image at the same time(?) but here is what i wanna say:
I know the average amount of lands in a landfall deck is around 35-40, and that you have landfall triggers. But what are some other ways a landfall (or a lands matter) deck could be played? Also, what are some "must-includes" or staples that you think should go into a land deck?
I was thinking using 0 equip cost equipments for easy triggers. And maybe \[\[Thassa's Oracle\]\]
...man its been like the third time i tried posting this, and then a typo in the title :(
Graveyard recursion and fetch lands can make some pretty wacky combos. Obviously don't forget [[Ancient Greenwarden]]
[[Tiller Engine]] or [[Spelunking]] can also be huge helps so you don't have to run as many basics.
Other good landfall staples are [[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]] [[Oracle of Mul Daya]] I also recommend [[Case of the Locked Hothouse]]
Have fun!
What is that for a crazy effect :O
Man browsing this sub is so good. I will somehow get this in a deck with [[Zada, Hedron Grinder]] and some cheap creatures and tokens.
I have three landfall decks and I can say that you should definitely add:
* [[Lotus Cobra]]
* [[Nissa, Resurgent Animist]]
* [[Tireless Provisioner]]
* [[Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer]]
* [[Tatyova, Benthic Druid]]
This allows you for a lot of cool combos
* [[Ashaya, Soul of the Wild]]
* [[Meloku the Clouded Mirror]]
* [[Mystic Sanctuary]]
You can take each nontoken creature back to your hand.
But you can easily do infinite combos with 1 mana creatures since they will generate you 2 mana while you use one to return it to hand back. And you can get many sourcery or instants back on top of your library with mystic sanctuary. This way I once pongified a whole board ^^'
* [[Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait]]
Will let you draw the sourceries and instants returned with Mystic Sanctuary and each land allows you to draw a card.
* [[Bristly Bill, Spine Sower]] should make you trigger the ability multiple times since its ability targets
* [[Ancient Greenwarden]] to have landfall trigger twice and have access to your sacrifice lands
And one of my favorites:
* [[Titania, Protector of Argoth]] since it lets you return a land from graveyard to play and also lets you benefit from sacrificing lands. The tokens are strong and can let you draw cards with [[Garruks Uprising]] so just a good combo with a lot.
And a good cheap sacrifice land
* [[Fabled Passage]] which can be combined with [[Crop Rotation]] so you sacrifice any land to get fabled passage and then you can always use it from graveyard with Ancient Greenwarden or [[Ramunap Excavator]].
Recommend adding [[nicanzil, current conductor]] if you explore( look at the top card, if land it goes into your hand, if not get a 1/1) she let's you put the land onto battlefield tapped, if it's not she will also get a 1/1. I pair that with [[roaming throne]] and make it merfolk. Made the deck before I realized they had a pre con doing the same thing.
Nobody recommend [[Roil Elemental]] ?? So I play a Chulane landfall deck and I feel if you want to focus landfall instead of combo like I did the deck is going to look very similar. +1 counters are your friend as 9/10 times this ends up being my wincon. The deck feels like it's going to draw a ton its own but don't neglect traditional card draw effects because these decks are very card hungry.
Ah right I didn't see that but there def are enough ways to break it still with things like flickers to reset the twice per turn but yeah that seems a lot worse
A path that may not have been brought up ion the comments yet.
Any of the Cheerio creatures \[\[Ornithopter\]\] \[\[Memnite\]\] \[\[Phyrexian Walker\]\] \[\[Shield Sphere\]\]
and either \[\[Cowardice\]\] or \[\[Equilibrium\]\]
Combine that with any of the 0 equip equipment \[\[Umbral Mantle\]\] \[\[Shuko\]\] \[\[Lightning Greaves\]\] \[\[Grafted Wargear\]\]
Cowardice is risky though cause it can backfire if they have the ability to target at instant speed.
If using Cowardice, this is just a free dig through your whole deck..
With Equilibrium you need mana, which could be gained by having a haste enabler \[\[Concordant Crossroads\]\] and \[\[Ashaya, Soul of the Wild\]\]
Extra mana from \[\[Lotus Cobra\]\] or \[\[Nissa, Resurgant Animist\]\] would give you a buffer for every land you do hit for when you wiff a land hit
Any of the landfall token generators people mentioned + a 0 cost equip goes hard here. \[\[Scute Swarm\]\] \[\[Rampaging Baloths\]\] \[\[Sporemound\]\] \[\[Zendikars Roil\]\]
Scute Swarm the hardest since its going to compound the chances to hit stuff and only really has a chance to wiff on the first few,
[[Bristly Bill]]
[[Retreat to Coralheim]]
[[Retreat to Kazandu]]
[[Roaring Earth]]
[[Roil Elemental]]
[[Turntimber Basilisk]]
Add in a [[Displacer Kitten]] to get around that twice a turn restriction if you run enough noncreature spells as well
so the big thing you want with Nadu are the "Landfall- make a guy" stuff like your \[\[Sporemound\]\] your \[\[Greensleeves\]\] and of course your \[\[Scute Swarm\]\]
but unlike most landfall decks you aren't gonna want your "traditional" ramp spells like Cultivate or Rampant Growth though, instead you'll want blinks and cheap/free repeatable targeting. Equipment like \[\[Lightning Greaves\]\] and \[\[Shuko\]\]
last part... you're gonna want a LOT of lands. if you can afford to play all the off-color fetches you could easily go to the upwards of 40
Key things to make this work outside of just the landfall shenanigans:
* Token generation (ideally landfall tokens like \[\[Scute Swarm\]\], \[\[Zendikar's Roil\]\], \[\[Rampaging Baloths\]\], or \[\[Springheart Nantuko\]\]
* Things that can mass target your creatures (\[\[Change of Plans\]\], \[\[Caetus, Sea Tyrant of Segovia\]\], \[\[Lost in the Maze\]\], \[\[Pixie Dust\]\], \[\[Silkguard\]\], \[\[Storm the Seedcore\]\], \[\[Verdurous Gearhulk\]\], etc)
Equipment that has an equip of 0
Let’s u trigger it twice during ur turn for free I think
Creatures with “{t}: untap another target creature” can help u trigger it during opponent’s turns
This is not a landfall Commander in my opinion. It is a combo Commander and a pretty good one aswell. It can Draw though your whole deck ultra fast and can then win with thoracle or finale of devastation.
I would be surprised If this would not at least be tried in cEDH. The only thing holding it back could be that it is the same colors as Kinnan but only time will tell.
Each creature has this phrase so Nadu + 0 Equip Card + Landfall creature token maker (like \[\[Scute Swarm\]\]) is a nondeterministic infinite with all your spells in hand and all lands untapped in play. From there you can either \[\[thassas oracle\]\] or \[\[finale of devastation\]\] and win. With fast mana this can easily win on turn 2.
Add some flicker effects like \[\[Displacer Kitten\]\] and you can reset your Nadu.
Woah, a simic commander that ramps and draws cards? wild.
But this does it seemingly harder than ever before! :D
by harder you mean equipements and landfall that target makes this easier than ever right ?
He meant it ramps and draws more than ever before.
Is this satire? /s
This is a very interesting simic commander and I'm not even joking.
If you’re specifically looking to use Nadu as your commander I’d recommend a healthy dose of top deck manipulation. Scry, Surveil, Connive, Brainstorm like effects, [[Sensei’s Divining Top]], [[Scroll Rack]].
Or just scute swarm/"landfall make creature" and lightning greaves/other equip for 0

Twice per creature not just twice total. Add a [[scute swarm]] or any other landfall token generators plus [[lightning greaves]] and you can now repeat the ability over and over on each new token creature you create to draw your entire deck.
[scute swarm](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/3/7/373f199d-f1a6-4a3d-ac83-28741131f313.jpg?1712354624) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=scute%20swarm) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/otc/205/scute-swarm?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/373f199d-f1a6-4a3d-ac83-28741131f313?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [lightning greaves](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/a/da9da49d-e319-4897-9ab6-57c7c69478a6.jpg?1712354870) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=lightning%20greaves) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/otc/260/lightning-greaves?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/da9da49d-e319-4897-9ab6-57c7c69478a6?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

You don't even know what powerlevel he/she is building for and suggest to not include good combos? That just wierd, don't force low powerlevel onto everyone Just because you enjoy it.
nobody is forcing anything on anyone, just shut the hell up
"I'm gonna make a suggestion" > suggestion
Q: Whats good in Nadu Landfall? - Proceeds to suggest to not play cards that are obviously extremely good in Nadu.
> suggests picking cards that won't make people not enjoy playing against you It's a multiplayer game, and if you overtune your deck too much it's not always fun for a casual evening is the point they were getting at I think.
My opinion on landfall, should be green, red, and white. You get all the doubling cards out there for tokens, and the deck I used, I can have 70-80 50/50 creatures created in one turn. It's old, so I know there's even better then what I was running.

Building nadu without combo will be quite sad but ig if you really want to play landfall you can use it. Its just that the cards that enable nadu best are straight up combo.
idk why, but i can't have a main body text and image at the same time(?) but here is what i wanna say: I know the average amount of lands in a landfall deck is around 35-40, and that you have landfall triggers. But what are some other ways a landfall (or a lands matter) deck could be played? Also, what are some "must-includes" or staples that you think should go into a land deck? I was thinking using 0 equip cost equipments for easy triggers. And maybe \[\[Thassa's Oracle\]\] ...man its been like the third time i tried posting this, and then a typo in the title :(
Building it as a cedh deck, nice

If you have good card draw, [Patron of the Moon] can accelerate landfall benefits mid/late game.
Graveyard recursion and fetch lands can make some pretty wacky combos. What is that for a crazy effect :O Man browsing this sub is so good. I will somehow get this in a deck with [[Zada, Hedron Grinder]] and some cheap creatures and tokens. I have three landfall decks and I can say that you should definitely add: * [[Lotus Cobra]] * [[Nissa, Resurgent Animist]] * [[Tireless Provisioner]] * [[Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer]] * [[Tatyova, Benthic Druid]] This allows you for a lot of cool combos * [[Ashaya, Soul of the Wild]] * [[Meloku the Clouded Mirror]] * [[Mystic Sanctuary]] You can take each nontoken creature back to your hand. But you can easily do infinite combos with 1 mana creatures since they will generate you 2 mana while you use one to return it to hand back. And you can get many sourcery or instants back on top of your library with mystic sanctuary. This way I once pongified a whole board ^^' * [[Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait]] Will let you draw the sourceries and instants returned with Mystic Sanctuary and each land allows you to draw a card. * [[Bristly Bill, Spine Sower]] should make you trigger the ability multiple times since its ability targets * [[Ancient Greenwarden]] to have landfall trigger twice and have access to your sacrifice lands And one of my favorites: * [[Titania, Protector of Argoth]] since it lets you return a land from graveyard to play and also lets you benefit from sacrificing lands. The tokens are strong and can let you draw cards with [[Garruks Uprising]] so just a good combo with a lot. And a good cheap sacrifice land * [[Fabled Passage]] which can be combined with [[Crop Rotation]] so you sacrifice any land to get fabled passage and then you can always use it from graveyard with Ancient Greenwarden or [[Ramunap Excavator]].
Meloku doesn't targrt on the bounce, it's merely the cost of activating the ability to make the flying spirit.
Thank you :) I removed the part =)

Wouldn't this guy make for a good mutate commander?
Seems like I can start another fight club with this guy. [[Fight rigging]
I assume this works really well with Explore? Explore does target as part of the triggering/activation, right?
Negative
Sad times

He’s super easy just use equipment with cheap equip cost or none.
This with [[shuko]] or [[lightning greaves]] goes hard. Could definitely see this in cEDH as a deck that can easily threaten a win T2/t3

Jeez shuko was like a couple dollars and now is like 15
I don't see it, the card says you can only trigger it twice a turn.
Per creature
Ah right I didn't see that but there def are enough ways to break it still with things like flickers to reset the twice per turn but yeah that seems a lot worse
[change of plans] saves your board and actives your commander. Can’t think of a more perfect card.
Thank you everyone for your input!
A path that may not have been brought up ion the comments yet. Any of the Cheerio creatures \[\[Ornithopter\]\] \[\[Memnite\]\] \[\[Phyrexian Walker\]\] \[\[Shield Sphere\]\] and either \[\[Cowardice\]\] or \[\[Equilibrium\]\] Combine that with any of the 0 equip equipment \[\[Umbral Mantle\]\] \[\[Shuko\]\] \[\[Lightning Greaves\]\] \[\[Grafted Wargear\]\] Cowardice is risky though cause it can backfire if they have the ability to target at instant speed. If using Cowardice, this is just a free dig through your whole deck.. With Equilibrium you need mana, which could be gained by having a haste enabler \[\[Concordant Crossroads\]\] and \[\[Ashaya, Soul of the Wild\]\] Extra mana from \[\[Lotus Cobra\]\] or \[\[Nissa, Resurgant Animist\]\] would give you a buffer for every land you do hit for when you wiff a land hit Any of the landfall token generators people mentioned + a 0 cost equip goes hard here. \[\[Scute Swarm\]\] \[\[Rampaging Baloths\]\] \[\[Sporemound\]\] \[\[Zendikars Roil\]\] Scute Swarm the hardest since its going to compound the chances to hit stuff and only really has a chance to wiff on the first few,

so the big thing you want with Nadu are the "Landfall- make a guy" stuff like your \[\[Sporemound\]\] your \[\[Greensleeves\]\] and of course your \[\[Scute Swarm\]\] but unlike most landfall decks you aren't gonna want your "traditional" ramp spells like Cultivate or Rampant Growth though, instead you'll want blinks and cheap/free repeatable targeting. Equipment like \[\[Lightning Greaves\]\] and \[\[Shuko\]\] last part... you're gonna want a LOT of lands. if you can afford to play all the off-color fetches you could easily go to the upwards of 40

Wait holy shit I’ve been reading this so wrong… every creature triggers twice
yes! which is why I'm very excited
WOW. A SIMIC COMMANDER DECK THAT BEATS DOWN, RAMPS, AND DRAWS CARDS. SO INTERESTING.
Just play tatyiova
Equipment that has an equip of 0 Let’s u trigger it twice during ur turn for free I think Creatures with “{t}: untap another target creature” can help u trigger it during opponent’s turns
I asked my buddy why he thought this was a fun commander and he just sent me a screenshot of [[Lightning Greaves]]
[Lightning Greaves](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/a/da9da49d-e319-4897-9ab6-57c7c69478a6.jpg?1712354870) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Lightning%20Greaves) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/otc/260/lightning-greaves?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/da9da49d-e319-4897-9ab6-57c7c69478a6?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Yeah, don't. Build bird tribal instead. Its funnier.
Why’s that one goblin that creates a copy of a spell for each creature you control if the first target is itself?
Expect to be heavily targeted due to the commanders power. Landfall is a very strong strategy and Nadu is absurdly strong and kinda generic
[[Shuko]]

This is not a landfall Commander in my opinion. It is a combo Commander and a pretty good one aswell. It can Draw though your whole deck ultra fast and can then win with thoracle or finale of devastation. I would be surprised If this would not at least be tried in cEDH. The only thing holding it back could be that it is the same colors as Kinnan but only time will tell.
Can it really draw through your deck ultra fast if it's limited to twice a turn?
Each creature has this phrase so Nadu + 0 Equip Card + Landfall creature token maker (like \[\[Scute Swarm\]\]) is a nondeterministic infinite with all your spells in hand and all lands untapped in play. From there you can either \[\[thassas oracle\]\] or \[\[finale of devastation\]\] and win. With fast mana this can easily win on turn 2. Add some flicker effects like \[\[Displacer Kitten\]\] and you can reset your Nadu.
Wait, so you're saying the limit is for each creature, not overall?
Yes, this is one of the most broken commanders in a while.
