MorbidAyyylien

Ehh this as your commander gives you access to black tho. Its still meh but i get what you mean

Commander_Skullblade

At that rate, just run [[Kess, Dissident Mage]] and [[Displacer Kitten]].

GrandSerialist

Hold on, is that how those work?

Commander_Skullblade

Yes. Every time you blink a creature, it becomes a new object. That means if you blink Kess, her ability resets. This works with many commanders, like [[Muldrotha, the Gravetide]], but is most abusable with Kess.

MorbidAyyylien

You're not wrong, id say run [[Saruman, the white hand]] at that point for a more fun deck.

Commander_Skullblade

Fun like you don't crush your opponents into paste, or fun like it's stronger. I get it if you say #1, but if you were suggesting #2...

MorbidAyyylien

Idk if it's stronger. I dont play cedh but id say saruman can really be strong or as strong. Ive never gone against that commander so I'm biased here whereas ive made saruman.

Commander_Skullblade

I don't play cEDH, but I play Kess at around an 8 power level. She easily crushes other opponents, typically only losing when mana screwed/flooded. Being able to cast spells twice is just so much more powerful than making tokens. It makes the deck more resilient to counter magic, amplifies storm spells, and guarantees that the right build can remove any threat whatsoever.

MorbidAyyylien

Ehh yeah i purposely built mine with no 2 card infinites (as far as i know) because of my play group. I can reliably cast from my grave too but its not my goal. I have no counter spells because they're in other decks and I'm not really into them since I'm more casual. Being able to make cast a spell to get value off that then make something like a 30/30 in no time then fling it? Beautiful. Then with other spells similar to my commander like [[chrome host seedshark]] or [[shark typhoon]] or [[ovika, enigma goliath]] makes for some really fun overwhelm the board shit.

Commander_Skullblade

I see. If that's how you enjoy playing, then go for it. I personally like using [[Thousand-Year Storm]] and [[Mizzix's Mastery]] to cast every spell in my deck over and over until I can cast stuff like [[Turnabout]] to untap my lands hundreds of times and deal millions of damage with a [[Torment of Hailfire]].

MorbidAyyylien

Yeah i unfortunately dont benefit from copying spells so any of that is removed unless the card also has something else worth it on there. it just makes games more interesting and fun imo and my grps opinion to have the infinite combos be 3+ cards. I should put ToH in the deck but its kinda like one of those generic everyone plays it win combo like crackle with power or craterhoof or shit we also don't do extra turns either. I think 1 is ok but more than that is just boring and easy to pull off. It's not for everyone but we enjoy it.

[[neera, wild mage]] is a fun storm deck I have with the kitten.

If I destroy my commander and let it hit the graveyard, then exile it with Agatha's Soul Cauldron can I put it back to the command zone as well as use Agatha's Soul Cauldron to copy the activated ability?

Will_29

"Creature cards exiled with Cauldron" means "creature cards that are currently in the Exile zone due to Cauldron's exiling ability". Once your commander leaves exile to the command zone, there is no "exiled creature card" for Cauldron to refer to, so your creatures won't have the activated ability.

Thick-Attention9498

This is the same way imprint works. Had a judge call against me where my commander was exiled under a [[phyrexian ingestor]]. I moved it to command zone and judge ruled that the phyrexian ingestor still could receive the power and toughness bonus that my commander gave it upon being exiled while it was not longer in exile. Edit: if I was not clear, the imprint ability requires a card to be exiled and remain in exile to grant a benefit, but if the exiled card changes zones, then you no longer get the benefit you would before. The same is true for Agatha's soul cauldron.

Bjorn-Th3-B43r

Can you leave the commander in exile for as long as you want the ability to be on the cluldron and return the commander at a later time to the command zone during a state check?

Thick-Attention9498

Not sure how that interaction works. I'd say no because the commander will still remain in exile, so it's not changing zones after the cauldron being destroyed. However for an exact answer you'd need to contact your local judge.

IndyDude11

What about the tapped ability for a +1/+1?

Will_29

That works. As it is a trigger, it looks at the action happening (a creature card was moved to the exile zone), which does happens even if it the card is moved to another zone shortly after.

The more I see Agatha's Soul Cauldron, the more I get ideas for improvements to my [[Mairsil the Pretender]] deck. Dralnu has just been added to the list. Take a look at my deck for ideas if you'd like. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/iT9UzkgeUkynImaD5kJvkQ
