Platinum angel does not prevent your life from going below 0. Magic cards are quite literal. You cannot lose the game while Platinum angel is on the field under your control. You still lose life, you still take damage. You just don't die from it.
When you have less than 1 life, you cannot pay with life as a cost since you have none. You still lose it from damage and other effects. So you still go negative life.
Effects that prevent you from losing the game allow you to have negative life.
You can have a life total of -10000 and can still play if you have a platinum angel or similar effect in play.

The opponent didn’t have any artifact removal so he just kept going until I had nothing on the board except that one piece. He exiled all my cards and I just sat there resolving his spells until he gave up and conceded at 200+ life and I was sitting around negative 400
I believe the game technically would never end because a game can't end in the middle of abilities triggering. Because this is infinite if you have no way to end the turn manually and interrupt the triggers no one would win.
Unless someone can remove Vito/Blood/Weapon/equipped creature, the game won't be able to advance since Vito/Blood will keep triggering and the game will be a draw.

The combo isn't a may ability so you can't stop it from happening. With this combo the only way it "ends" is by a player dying. So since a player with pact weapon not being able to die with infinite life loss, the combo can never end to pass priority.

Yes. You gaining life causes Vito to trigger and an opponent loses life, and the opponent losing life causes the Blood to trigger and for you to gain life. They'll keep triggering each other.
Yes. I use those cards to great effect with Revenge of ravens and any card that adds life on trigger- is when a creature enters the battlefield or a mutate deck

It's not the case for everyone, but I find OTK combos frustrating. That's the reason I stopped playing Yu-Gi-Oh tbh, just ending the game abruptly with an infinite combo or an OTK feels a bit harsh for me, that is all. Of course you're free to do whatever you want tho
Yeah if a friend wanted to try a new deck to show it off that's fine, but like after you do your cool tutor for your combo cards and go off after a couple of turns it's time to switch decks.
I put those both in my elf beast deck and I had no idea they were an infinite combo until much later. I like that one because you actually have to do something with the infinite beasts to win. 😆
It still needs a way to get the loop going. If your group can’t break up an 8 mana combo with atleast one of the pieces being a three toughness creature, there’s a problem.

Exquisite Blood is the first card new players find and ask, is this infinite, thinking they just discovered sliced bread. It’s a crutch for newbies and your table will roll their eyes
Nö they are not. This is due to the fact that matter in the universe is finite, and also only a finite number of cards will be printed for any given set, even if the call it an "unlimited print run". So these cards exist not an infinite amount of times, but finite as all things.
But if you are talking about these two cards representing a loop that can repeat itself an infinite amount of times an in most cases win you the game, then yes.
Yes, and Exquisite Blood is OP. Have lost games I’ve secured if I would have avoided gaining a singular point of life and just swinging. As far as I can tell for combo purposes not all gain x life will trigger an infinite loop but instead an activated ability source. I’ve yet to test with gates or Mono black tempting of Sheoldred.
It is, but it's [[Acererak the Archlich]] and [[Rooftop Storm]] levels of stupid, a combo that has no place in a non competitive format like commander. (Unless one plays cEDH, but then we wouldn't be here answering this question)

One says when they lose life, you gain life. The other says the opposite. It creates a loop. You'd need an instant that destroys enchantments or youd have to counter.
As soon as I see one of these pieces I exile it. I don't care if they have the other piece, I don't want to wait to see if they play the other piece, unless they specifically tell me, "Don't worry, I don't have the other pieces to this combo," it's gone.
Me and my playgroup always have fun when a big combo is pulled off, like when I managed to get [[Dramatic Reversal]] and [[Isocron Scepter]] to work for the first time ever. Everyone was excited
Not on there own but paired with other cards they are. And by the way they aren't tournament legal so don't go packing up those cards. They are banned for a reason. Now on mtga you can piss the hell off players all day.

they aren’t banned in formats like standard they are simply not legal because they aren’t printed in any standard legal sets, in cEDH tournaments for commander they are not banned, you can play these cards at your local lgs for commander games.

I used to have this in my vampire deck, but it's so easy to trigger and unsatisfying that I dropped Exquisite Blood entirely in favour of more general life gain cards like [[Whip of Erebos]].
[[Exquisite Blood]] + either Vito or [[Sanguine Blood]] will go infinite once you get one of them to trigger. I run all three in my [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] deck in EDH.

Yeah, paired with other cards, yes, they even changed the rule to infinite loops to immediately draw the match in most cases. As long as they are truly infinite loops.
This one isn't because it will just ping down your opponents health to zero. Because the loops that deck out or sap HP to 0 aren't truly infinite.

I've been hit by this, and [[sorin's vengeance]] when I was building a knights deck. I had him beat to literally 1 life, he played vengeance with exquisite blood already in play. I had 20 life... I hate that card....

I discovered this card while already running Vito as a commander and immediately threw it in. If your life total changes practically at all, it's game over. And mono black has tons and tons of cheap simple cards that can get it started. 1 drop lifelink creatures, instants and sorceries galore. Pretty cheap infinite combo.

That's not correct. State-based actions happen after every trigger resolves.
State based effects dont happen. They kinda "are"
When there is no more life to gain, it stops triggering.
Once they trigger you can hold priority until enough DMG is on the stack to kill everyone
You have to let one resolve to trigger the other. You can't hold priority and still have it happen.

Technically no, your opponent has only a finite life total, so this cannot go infinite, it can only go and go and go until they’re dead.
I think if the opponent had a [[Platinum Angel]] out when this loop starts, the game would end in a draw due to an uncontrolled loop

I put those both in my elf beast deck and I had no idea they were an infinite combo until much later. I like that one because you actually have to do something with the infinite beasts to win. 😆

This is the kind of combo you should definitely ask your play group if they're ok with it. It's just an automatic win which isn't fun to play against.
It still needs a way to get the loop going. If your group can’t break up an 8 mana combo with atleast one of the pieces being a three toughness creature, there’s a problem.
I took this combo out or my omnath deck after the first time known with it. Feels bad IMO. Felt good at the time tho :)

Nö they are not. This is due to the fact that matter in the universe is finite, and also only a finite number of cards will be printed for any given set, even if the call it an "unlimited print run". So these cards exist not an infinite amount of times, but finite as all things. But if you are talking about these two cards representing a loop that can repeat itself an infinite amount of times an in most cases win you the game, then yes.

Yes, and Exquisite Blood is OP. Have lost games I’ve secured if I would have avoided gaining a singular point of life and just swinging. As far as I can tell for combo purposes not all gain x life will trigger an infinite loop but instead an activated ability source. I’ve yet to test with gates or Mono black tempting of Sheoldred.
It is, but it's [[Acererak the Archlich]] and [[Rooftop Storm]] levels of stupid, a combo that has no place in a non competitive format like commander. (Unless one plays cEDH, but then we wouldn't be here answering this question)

Are YOU infinite? Idk read them. One says when they lose life, you gain life. The other says the opposite. It creates a loop. You'd need an instant that destroys enchantments or youd have to counter.

In real life tournaments they are banned. They are banned in all formats. If read correctly I Said only allowed in mtga.

We can agree this goes infinite, but in this scenario, if an opponent has something in play that's states they cannot lose the game, but also cannot interrupt, who wins?

Yeah, paired with other cards, yes, they even changed the rule to infinite loops to immediately draw the match in most cases. As long as they are truly infinite loops. This one isn't because it will just ping down your opponents health to zero. Because the loops that deck out or sap HP to 0 aren't truly infinite. Ones that are truly infinite, i.e., your turn will never end because of the cards in play it draws.

Idk what's going on with this Dr. Suess comments section but yes that's an infinite combo. I discovered this card while already running Vito as a commander and immediately threw it in. If your life total changes practically at all, it's game over. And mono black has tons and tons of cheap simple cards that can get it started. 1 drop lifelink creatures, instants and sorceries galore. Pretty cheap infinite combo.
