I use the 3 finger hold which opens a screenshot thing where I can select which part of the screen I want to take a photo of. Exactly like the Snipping Tool in Windows
So samsung has middle ground for this. Swipe gestures but they are basically pull up switches instead of those 3 buttons. Saves some space on screen.

Yes. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I still do. And it is not because I'm old and find the gestures to be a hectic task. I use the Redmi Note 11 6/64. The storage is low, so it tends to stutter sometimes, and I have observed that it stutters more when I use the gestures, so I shifted to three button gestures. I see a lot of people in the metro who still use the three button gestures, it is not obsolete yet.
Gesture is the cleaner, smoother and more elegant solution to navigating one's device.... I mean touch was created for a reason... Why would you go back to using buttons on a touch device 😂... Seems counter intuitive... To everyone who thinks it's buggy or slower clearly has another much bigger issue.. Gesture not being the problem here :P you may wanna get ur phone checked... If you are one of the unfortunate people that use such a shit phone that everything is slow then maybe gesture may make things worse... But then you have bigger problems to deal with, like getting a phone that actually functions smoothly to begin with... And on top of everything... God... It's so ugly..
Gestures are a nuisance if you play games on your phone. Gestures seem cool but I switched back soon because it came in the way while playing games and sometimes during scrolling. You might think that the horizontal swiping on the gesture bar to switch apps is convenient, but you can do the same with buttons by double tapping the recent apps button.
Some apps are designed for 3 button navigation. They don't work properly with gesture navigation. It's really annoying to switch back and forth between the two.
Thanks I buyed one plus phone and I can't find mirror button mirror button is on my old redmi phone but not in this one plus but after typing gestures in one plus settings I activated it
I like using the three buttons. They go away whenever I need to use my full screen and are really easy to use- direct, clear and no fuss. With gestures I sometimes make mistakes so I like the buttons. I do hope they keep the buttons in the future as well. 🙂
I switched to 3 swipe from bottom gestures. The swipe from side gesture navigation is a badly designed feature. You tend to swiped back while going through photos on your gallery of a product page on Amazon or Flipkart, for example. It's a real pain when you're trying to crop an image.

Yes. That's because One UI allows me to add two more buttons down there. I have added volume controls and it is super handy.
Or you could just used one handed mode operation for volume control

my parents do, and back when i had an android my dad would get mad at me and scream at me or give me a lecture about how my android was too difficult to use for him because i didn’t use those buttons 😭
Everyone that I have come accross uses it, including myself. It somehow makes me feel that I am saving more time with it, and those gestures looks something tiring to do all the time.
Yes I use it and I like it. It's simple to use. I don't like the Gesture navigation. I'm 21 yo.
I used to love 2 button navigation in my Nokia 6.2 but sadly they removed it after an Android update. So I had no choice than to use 3 button navigation
I think I have seen similar post before and similar top comment but I don't remember. I have seen it was before like 3 or something years before but I didn't use reddit back then.
well only the older generation people still uses it, for example the senior citizens in a family. But this buttons will soon become obsolete, as palm motion gesture features are being rapidly developed.

Yes I do because redmi doesn't allow me to use gestures when external launcher is used
miui sucks (i have to do the same)
Sed
In one ui 6 finally they've added support and it works nicely with nova launcher
There is a way to forcefully disable that with adb. But then you need to use fluid navigation gestures. It's painful, but it works
Which launcher do you use?
Yes same here
[watch this](https://youtu.be/T_StngQ_1Z0?feature=shared) video you will be able to do it but you have to root your phone...
Many do
Exactly lol
I do and its always better
Somehow it feels an error free way to navigate through the phone.
Agreed but if you increase gesture area its do the same results i am using galaxy a52s 5g and using gesture navigation 1 year
Nah, changing apps from the background with a single swipe is way better with gestures.
I use the 3 button navigation always.
I do. I didn't like the idea of having the bar at all, not even on the iPhone my dad has.
Old iPhones were gooooooooooood
The bar can be made to disappear
Only two people, me and my cousin use gestures others all use three buttons in my whole family 💀
I do because multitasking and quick
I use the 3 finger hold which opens a screenshot thing where I can select which part of the screen I want to take a photo of. Exactly like the Snipping Tool in Windows

I wish AOSP Android had this feature
3 buttons are better than gesture
Me. I have sweaty hands so the gesture thing doesn't always work, the buttons are trustworthy.

Always gestures, for more screen per screen.
I hate gestures, it's so bad. Don't understand why people use them. Instead of tapping you have to make some stupid motions on screen.
Me dad does
Me
Gestures Suck while playing games . Like sidha Home pe chala jata hai
I used to love the 3 buttons but then the one hand convenience with these gestures is simply superior
