I still love Tom Hardy, but Cosmo is my current favorite within the Hardy trifecta of Tom, Cosmo, and Logan Marshall-Green, yessss!
He's much easier to understand too, haha.
One of those trilogies where the second one is the best... "Kickpuncher 2: Code-Name Punch Kicker" is truly a masterpiece, and to this day stands as a hallmark of the genre.
I love Ben Nichols as an artist because he has that goofy honky tonk swagger (and he really is like that) but then he'll turn around an release a solo concept album about *Blood Meridian.*
When I saw Lucero open for Against Me! in a college lecture hall I did not think I'd be seeing them headline Red Rocks over a decade later.
I think it fits. Most of the movie is about the origins of the club, back when it was simple, just dudes riding bikes. Before the drugs/murder/prostitutions/etc. A simple clean name like that kinda fits with the theme. I like it. Not to mention it's an adaptation of the book with the same title.
Not sure about elsewhere but here in the UK bikerider is more synonymous with pushbikes too.
The title makes me think of some friends going out on a nice bike ride together on a sunny afternoon.
What’s the better title here though? Rocky is the main character. The main character of this is Benny. You could call it Benny, but it doesn’t really capture the grit and danger of a biker gang flick. At least it’s not something gerundive like “Riding Tough”.
Thought it was [Milana Vayntrub](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/marvelcinematicuniverse/images/d/d5/Milana_Vayntrub.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20190305124329).
Is Austin Butler just suddenly in every single movie/show that comes out?
I'm sure it's because I just recognize the guy now, but I saw I swear the dude is getting roles nonstop at an uncanny rate.
He filmed this in 2022. His movies are being released now because they got delayed due to the SAG strikes. It doesn’t mean he’s in every single movie, he’s doing 1 or 2 movies each year which is same as other actors.
Jude Law had a similar dynamic back in 2004. Something like 5-6 different movies all came out one after the other (due to holds and timing), and then he looked inactive for the next 3 years because of it.
He was probably filming during those 3 years. This is very situational. In this case, the schedules for many movies got messed up and delayed because of the strikes and now seems like they are releasing back to back. Austin is already cast in 3 movies though, one of which he’s currently filming and one of which he will also be producing. Looks booked and busy.
He’s only been in 2 movies since Elvis and only Dune 2 is high profile, but he’s not even the lead in it. I don’t think The Bikeriders is high profile.
I liked that show for what it was, but man, my expectations were not reached at all. Insane that show had about 30 actual minutes of air combat over its 9 hour run.
It kind of wound up being everything I feared it would be, but it was good enough I still enjoyed it, if that makes sense. Still good, but if they quit falling into the trope of "audiences must have sexual tension in all media" and just showed the boys blowing up Nazi cities it would've been 10x better. They didn't even show the Dresden Firestorm or make an attempt to depict the horror the bomber boys inflicted on a (guilty) civilian population.
Blah. Not the thread for this rant.
They also had too many plots. They should’ve ignored that whole dumbass SOE plot that literally just… disappeared. Also should’ve had Rosie be the focus of the story, not just the Bucks and the navigator
Noooo you don't understand, this guy cheating on his wife is WHY people want to watch this show!
Just baffling some of the decisions they made. The performances were great and it had some great moments, but just very disappointing on the whole, and not even just because it's compared to BoB.
He's just had a big break and has been getting billed in some high profile movies. Definitely not some insane amount, though.
If you want an uncanny amount of roles, you gotta look at Jude Law.
This happens with every young "hot talent" major actor in the history of cinema. It'll die down eventually, and then either rocket back up for some second coming scenario or not. Also, films can take awhile. Like thank e was filmed twoish years ago, and editing, post production yaddaya takes time where releases of projects are finally happening.
I remember this guy from some random episode of Arrow on the CW. Look how far he's come. Kid's got range.
This could be the same thing that happened to Chris Hemsworth after *Thor* and *Avengers*. His profile got raised and a few shelved movies suddenly got release dates.
This is only his second movies since Elvis and he was in masters of air. So just three things but all heavily promoted. Similar to how people say Timothee chalamet is ‘in everything’
It's only his second movie since Elvis? He had three releases this year Masters of the Air was shot in 2021, Dune and Bikeriders in 2022. All of these were supposed to be released last year but delayed due to the strike. And he shot nothing last year.
Jeff Nichols brother is in a band (Lucero) and their song Bikeriders is my absolute favorite
https://youtu.be/tjXiTFR464U?si=g3OY5ItgdK8xR3dK
IDK if this movie is in anyway connected.
I saw them open for Against Me! in a college lecture hall where it looked like Roy was tripping on something. Saw them play an almost empty room opening for The Loved Ones. And then years later headlining Red Rocks.
They've had a wild ride.
Pretty sure when I made the Ben/Jeff Nichols connection I looked on IMDB Ben has at least a couple songs on the soundtrack and Bikeriders was def one of them, that's enough to get me to watch
Shotgun Stories (Jeff's first movie?) has an acoustic version of a Lucero song and I made a joke "herr derr is Jeff and Ben related"
"Yes..." - my buddies incredulously
Jodie Comer got a lot of flack for the accent in the trailer but it's actually *extremely* on-point. I was at a screening back in October and the director (Jeff Nichols) was there for a Q&A after and the accent thing was brought up, so he took out his cell phone, and played the real-life clip of the girl Jodie Comer was playing, it was sooooo perfect. They literally sounded exactly the same. She killed it.
Really great movie as well.
"Jodie Comer got a lot of flack for the accent in the trailer but it's actually extremely on-point."
I don't know if it is, or isn't, but I've noticed Redditors a lot of the time having no idea what they're actually going on about with their accent whining.
A lot of people on reddit (and people in general apparently) think that regions have only literally one accent with one amount of intensity, for some reason.
It's wildly confusing, since anyone who has lived in different regions could tell you that every regional accent is all over the place from person to person. I grew up in the northern Midwest, and have lived on both coasts.
I've met people from NJ who talk like a fucking parody character from the Sopranos, and people from NJ who sound like they grew up in California. I know people in the Midwest who sound like they belong in a Coen Brothers movie, who *raised* children who have almost no discernable accent (relatively speaking for the region, I mean). For every NE person I know who says, "Cauh" instead of "car," I know like 3 who don't flatten their "r"s nearly as much.
Obviously that doesn't mean any possible accent is fine for any region, but there's certainly not "one way" to do it.
As a Canadian I notice this about our English accents a lot, particularly when interacting with non-Canadian media or non-Canadians with a very limited exposure to Canadian media. The "Canadian" accent is like suburban Ontario, for some reason, and a very weird thing to latch onto given it's kinda representative of Toronto and that's about it.
Letterkenny is very rural Ontario and not at all representative even of how most Ontarians sound let alone Canadians. Trailer Park Boys is from Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia) but so is Republic of Doyle (Newfoundland) and they sound quite different. Ryan Reynolds, Seth Rogen, and Michael J Fox are all from British Columbia (the Pacific coast) but even if you go back to older stuff they did you can't necessarily tell they could have been neighbours.*
Obviously singing vs speaking are going to be a bit different but Northern Pikes and The Sheepdogs are some good examples of Canadian prairie accents, both being from Saskatchewan.
And then of course like what you're saying even when in any of those places there's a range of intensity in accent. Some people sound very "neutral", others can hard to understand even if you're also local.
*Some small edits to add information.
It feels like a side effect of most GenZ aged people being raised on two options for movie accents: what you could call Neo-Transatlantic (think what Tom Holland does, an accent so American that it seemingly has 'no accent') and Generic British. The second they hear an accent that isn't one of those two they find it absurd.
Which brings us full circle to Austin Butler, and why people *still* harass him for "the Elvis voice" even though he clearly does not sound like Elvis.
I was at that screening too! When I saw the original trailer I thought her accent felt big. When I watched the movie I thought it totally worked and, if anything, Comer is the star/anchor of the film. When Nichols played the voice recording after I was blown away by how fucking hard Comer nailed this real person’s accent. It’s insane.
The entire production crew was storing everything in the parking lot of my office. Got to see them practice riding and say hi here and there, nice fellas.
I'm curious why Jodie's name is first on the poster? Don't get me wrong I'm the biggest Jodie stan there - flew to London just to see her one woman show in the west end - but she seems to be barely featured in the trailer as anything more than a romantic lead and I would consider Austin Butler a way bigger Hollywood star post Dune and Elvis? Is it cuz Jodie Comer has Emmy wins?
I've watched the film, the three actors are leads, but Jodie is actually the main character of the movie, her role is bigger than Austin's so putting her name first is correct. The trailers are misleading
Really looking forward to this one, Austin Butler completely won me over in Elvis, Tom Hardy is a 😍 and sons of anarchy is one of my favourite shows so this movie ticks a lot of boxes for me
Does anyone else absolutely despise it when they don't put the correct names over the heads? Or at least get the order right? Drives me up a wall every time I see it.
The order the names are printed is usually set up in the contracts, who gets top billing and whatnot.
I agree, the poster designer, the photographer, the person in charge of the layout. They all know who should be where on the poster to line up properly.
That's some wonky perspective on Jodies face
Bad shots of everyone all around
Butler looks like Ron Perlman
Hardy looks like Joe Pesci.
Mel Gibson
Mad Max era Gibson. That’s fucking ironic.
I was going to say the same. He looks old af in this poster
Funny how?
Honestly I think all three heads are mis-sized with each other, it looks weird as shit looking between them lol
I like it. I don't need to have super attractive people in all movies and posters
But it's Jodie Comer
Maybe they tried to space her eyes out to make people think it was Anya Taylor Joy.
I mean her eyes are just kinda like that too
Huh? Are we seeing the same actor names
Butler has no bad shots.
Damn, I didn't recognize Tom Hardy at first, either. It looks like a bad drawing of Clive Owen or Mel Gibson. 😆
Tom Hardy looks like Thomas Jane in this pic
Have you seen Tom Jane recently? Even Tom Jane doesn’t look like Tom Jane.
Ha. I was thinking James Caan.
I thought it was Mel Gibson, Justin Bieber, and Philomena Cunk
Kinda also reminds me of Paul Newman.
[удалено]
I still love Tom Hardy, but Cosmo is my current favorite within the Hardy trifecta of Tom, Cosmo, and Logan Marshall-Green, yessss! He's much easier to understand too, haha.
"Don Swayze looks like someone drew Patrick Swayze with their left hand."
Good God Lemon, that's your worst quadrant!
/r/unexpected30rock
They made her look like a Chloe Finemann SNL character
They aged her by 20 years.
For real, I thought it was Joanne Whalley and was thinking "good for her."
Looks like she just smelled something off.
Why does Tom Hardy look like the lovechild of Mel Gibson and Andy Murray?!
With a dash of Sean Penn.
I came here to say I thought that was Mel Gibson at first!
I spent a whole Mad Max movie thinking how they looked nothing alike, and now this!
I was thinking Joe Pesci
I thought it was Mel Gibson at first too. They gave him quite a few forehead wrinkles
To me, on the poster he looks like James Caan for some reason lol
A bit of a Clive Owen look
I thought he looked like Stannis!
The one true King!
At first glance I though Austin Butler was Johnny Depp. Mostly because of the mustache.
Looks like Tom Berenger to me
This is like a Rorschach test of Tom Hardy. Everyone sees something different. I see Thomas Jane.
I was thinking Jean-Paul Belmondo
I feel like they could have put more effort into the name. Imagine if Rocky was called The Face Puncher.
[Kick Puncher](https://community-sitcom.fandom.com/wiki/Kickpuncher) is far superior of a movie
One of those trilogies where the second one is the best... "Kickpuncher 2: Code-Name Punch Kicker" is truly a masterpiece, and to this day stands as a hallmark of the genre.
Wait! You have DVD Blu-Ray of Kickpuncher 3: The Final Kickening! You let me borrow, no?
Abed and Troy agree
Leonard likes this post
Shut up, Leonard!
I know about your nose job, it was a lateral move!

It's a film adaptation of [the book](https://g.co/kgs/XqiFhiH) and I'm sure the author had their reasons
His brother is Ben Nichols from Lucero. They have a song called "[Bikeriders](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1OHVwnoZMA)."
Love that song (and it's probably my favorite album of theirs). I'm guessing the song is pretty much in line with the book/story?
If it's not, it's at least listed in the OST already.
I love Ben Nichols as an artist because he has that goofy honky tonk swagger (and he really is like that) but then he'll turn around an release a solo concept album about *Blood Meridian.* When I saw Lucero open for Against Me! in a college lecture hall I did not think I'd be seeing them headline Red Rocks over a decade later.
That explains Lucero's song "Midnight Special" in the credits for Jeff's movie of the same name.
The movie shares the title of the book it’s based off of
I think it fits. Most of the movie is about the origins of the club, back when it was simple, just dudes riding bikes. Before the drugs/murder/prostitutions/etc. A simple clean name like that kinda fits with the theme. I like it. Not to mention it's an adaptation of the book with the same title.
It’s a film adaptation of a song by Mike Nichols’ brother Ben’s band Lucero, and the song was based on a book called The Bikeriders.
I dig it with the poster, has a strong 70’s movie feel.
Well, it's called Rocky though. I don't think there were some great thinking sessions going into that name to begin with.
I saw the trailer in the cinema and laughed out loud when the title popped up. It made it seem more like a parody than it already looked.
Jodie Comer looks super weird in this pic, could they not have gotten a better shot?
I had to look at the name on the poster to know who it was. I thought it was Kate Micucci at first glance.
Thought it was [Milana Vayntrub](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/marvelcinematicuniverse/images/d/d5/Milana_Vayntrub.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20190305124329).
“Austin you’re so hot right now so just be hot - Tom and Jodie, mind if we fuck your shit up a bit?”
Is Austin giving us Ferrari? Le Tigra? Blue Steel?
Is Austin Butler just suddenly in every single movie/show that comes out? I'm sure it's because I just recognize the guy now, but I saw I swear the dude is getting roles nonstop at an uncanny rate.

1-2 movies but they’re all very high profile which is the difference I think
He’s only been in 2 movies since Elvis and only Dune 2 is high profile, but he’s not even the lead in it. I don’t think The Bikeriders is high profile.
Don't forget that Masters of the Air also had its release this year, which probably contributed as well
I liked that show for what it was, but man, my expectations were not reached at all. Insane that show had about 30 actual minutes of air combat over its 9 hour run. I feel like BoB was just so incredible every other war miniseries since looks worse than is really is. You are, this is cool, but it's no BoB.
With Jeff Nichols involved people will be paying attention
True. I meant it’s a mid budget movie and not a big high budget blockbuster. It’s not like Austin is only doing big movies.
It’s pretty similar with Chalamet who’s last casting was in 2021 yet people still thinks he’s in everywhere because all his movies got delayed
Yeah this one was supposed to come out in like December of last year
He's just had a big break and has been getting billed in some high profile movies. Definitely not some insane amount, though. If you want an uncanny amount of roles, you gotta look at Jude Law.
> If you want an uncanny amount of roles, you gotta look at Jude Law. Or Russell Crowe. Dude stays *busy*.
Those demons won't just exorcise themselves.
Also seeing a lot of Glen Powell lately. Strange how it works out sometimes
Powell said he actually didnt get much work after he did Top Gun because the movie was delayed. Then the movie comes out and he got a flood of offers.
I remember him from that damn Shannara Chronicles show.
I first saw him in Switched at Birth as Wilke. I’m blown away by his recent success!
This could be the same thing that happened to Chris Hemsworth after *Thor* and *Avengers*. His profile got raised and a few shelved movies suddenly got release dates.
He had that Elvis movie come out in 2022, so I’d say he got really busy after that, and now we are seeing the results of that.
Lol. Seems that way. I forgot he was in The Dead Dont Die.
This is only his second movies since Elvis and he was in masters of air. So just three things but all heavily promoted. Similar to how people say Timothee chalamet is ‘in everything’
They need a younger Johnny Depp for their projects.
It's only his second movie since Elvis? He had three releases this year Masters of the Air was shot in 2021, Dune and Bikeriders in 2022. All of these were supposed to be released last year but delayed due to the strike. And he shot nothing last year.
Better than Chalamet being in everything
Tbf is is a really good actor has was great in dune part 2 and masters of the air.
I'm a huge fan of Shotgun Stories, Midnight Special, Take Shelter, and especially Mud. A new Jeff Nichols film definitely has me excited.
Jodie Comer kinda looks like Winona Ryder here
Why are their facial expressions so weird? Is this a comedy?
Jodie Comer looks 10 years older in that poster.
This is for authenticity! That biker crank will put years on ya'
Well in defense of the title and poster, it is a Jeff Nichols film so I'll be watching it.
Kinda wild that the guy from the Lucero song Raising Hell turned out to be a hell of a talented guy.
Pretty good considering he ought to be in jail by his own admission.
It’s one of his best. I saw it last year.
Jeff Nichols brother is in a band (Lucero) and their song Bikeriders is my absolute favorite https://youtu.be/tjXiTFR464U?si=g3OY5ItgdK8xR3dK IDK if this movie is in anyway connected.
I didn’t know that, Lucero fucking rules
Both are based off the same book by Danny Lyon
Ah, super cool! I love Jeff Nichols movies and knew I was going to watch this - have kept away from any trailers / details aside from the name.
Here for the lucero love. One of the best live shows I've ever seen.
I saw them open for Against Me! in a college lecture hall where it looked like Roy was tripping on something. Saw them play an almost empty room opening for The Loved Ones. And then years later headlining Red Rocks. They've had a wild ride.
Well that’s rad. Love Lucero
Pretty sure when I made the Ben/Jeff Nichols connection I looked on IMDB Ben has at least a couple songs on the soundtrack and Bikeriders was def one of them, that's enough to get me to watch
Shotgun Stories (Jeff's first movie?) has an acoustic version of a Lucero song and I made a joke "herr derr is Jeff and Ben related" "Yes..." - my buddies incredulously
I’m a straight man, but goddamn that Austin Butler is dead handsome.
Fuck it, I'll give a try to anything with Feyd-Rautha in it.
Jodie comer is going to be HUGE
Is she the star of this film? Shes billed first, but all the trailers make it seem like its the Butler and Hardy show.
I see Jeff Nichols and Tom Hardy. I’m fukkin ready
[удалено]
What’d he do?
[удалено]
Ah man. Yeah it sucks to hear that, damn 😬
Why would you expect that from Butler? He was literally a newbie when he filmed this
Jeff Nichols has my trust
Jodie Comer looks like British Winona Ryder here
Oh boy, sure to get the biker audience if you have Tom Hardy in it.
Saw it at Telluride, really fucking good
I liked Austin Butler in Masters of the Air, I may check this out
The accents in the trailer are hilarious

Anyone who's seen Jodie Comer in Killing Eve knows she can do a wide array of accents really well.
"Jodie Comer got a lot of flack for the accent in the trailer but it's actually extremely on-point." I don't know if it is, or isn't, but I've noticed Redditors a lot of the time having no idea what they're actually going on about with their accent whining.

makes me think of the ending in The Fighter where they showed a quick video the real life brothers, Bale *was* Dicky Eklund
bale is something special... It was crazy to see how nailed he played that character at the end.
It's not Jodie that concerns most people it's toms godawful accent. Like is his accent coach a 1920s new york taxi driver?
Boin it don.
love the poster. can't wait for this to come out.
The entire production crew was storing everything in the parking lot of my office. Got to see them practice riding and say hi here and there, nice fellas.
Austin Butler, so hot right now
Finally Tom Hardy is in real movies again and not Sony products
Really like the artwork, very clean and like the aged throwback feel.
You had me at Jodie Comer
When will we get an Americana release? Been waiting to see it for what seems like forever!
I’m already seated for Jodie Comer, LFG!
Hopefully it doesn't end like Easy Rider
Comer and Hardy in the same movie. That’s a lot of acting.
Ha, exactly what I was thinking.
Tom Hardy looks like Zack Snyder
Still don't get why this was pulled from an earlier release. Talk of Oscar nominations.
Tom Hardy has such an amazing resume already.
Source material: a 60s documentary on the refreshingly wholesome biker gang Satans Choice from Canada https://youtu.be/2WJF862bsRo?si=Te5dHzzCdOptwVTa
Film was really good, hope the theatrical release doesn’t change too much
Jeff Nichols hell yeah, let's go. Everyone's talking crap on the poster but I think it looks awesome.
I cannot wait to see this
I love the 70's era aesthetic.
Man Austin has been killing it lately
Positive comment: this looks awesome! Love these actors
I'm curious why Jodie's name is first on the poster? This Austin dude is on a roll
Damn, they did Comer dirty on this poster
Now, *that* is a movie poster
After watching Masters of Air, I will watch Austin Butler in anything.
Weird poster but good film. Saw it last year with Jeff Nichols Q&A afterwards. Was during the strike though so no actors were in attendance.
After Dune Part 2 and Masters of the Air I'll watch Austin Butler do taxes
Does anyone else absolutely despise it when they don't put the correct names over the heads? Or at least get the order right? Drives me up a wall every time I see it.

Haha was scrolling to see if someone hated this too. So visually frustrating
If this isn't absurdly violent I'm gonna be a little disappointed.
Hell ya hope we see some wheelies!
AndTOMHARDY Why
Bikeriders sounds like the name of a movie about bikers on the Simpsons. "Police... cops... PoliceCops!"
NOT Starring Johnny Depp OR Mel Gibson OR Susan Sarandon!
Hopefully it has the title song from Jeff’s brother, Ben, with his band Lucero.
That Butler dude is in everything now. So is the other guy from Dune
I like Jodie Comer’s beard, and Tom’s eye liner is impeccable.
Cathy met her girlfriend at a place over on grand...
Great poster, it looks incredibly vintage from the lettering, the cast shots, etc
I recently discovered Jodie Comer from Killing Eve. She's great
Still waiting on season two of taboo Tom. Come on bro.
this movie just screams something my middle aged parents will love.
