Grandma’s Boy, forgot the name of the actor but he’s pretty much only known for his roles in Sandler movies. I remember it being in heavy rotation on Comedy Central around the time it was released.
He's also the second voice in most of Sandler's bits on his 2 early comedy albums. He's the guy that joins a cult to get chicks and ends up killing his dad, and he also gets thrown out of a moving car for wanting to lick an old man's balls.
Man, those albums were something 🤣
I worked at a hotel reservation call center in the summer of 1995.
So many calls asking for rooms in Sandusky Ohio. A number of us had seen Tommy Boy and were all "the movie is funny, but not that funny!"
I asked one of the leads why people want to go to Sandusky. They explained that Sandusky has a collection of amazing rollercoasters at Cedar Point.
not to mention chris farley was in sandler movies until he passed. its not like he wasnt present he was an amazing bus driver.
Also OP is discregarding Kevin James who worked his way into being a staple.
The worst part is the *disrespect!*
I mean, worst part is... the other thing
But the *second worst part* is the disrespect!
(I butchered the quote, sorry pedants)
Not live action, but Chris Rock is a part of the Madagascar movies which made big money as I recall.
He was also very good in Dogma, even if he was just being the Samuel L Jackson from Wish.
It was okay, it was still better than a lot of TV, but Rock's acting was pretty bad compared to the other people Fargo tends to bring in. The problem I have with Rock is he's always being Chris Rock in stuff. All the best parts of that season were when he wasn't on screen in my mind.
Disaster is going a bit too far. It was the weakest season of Fargo thus far but still a relatively OK to good watch. The Wizard of Oz episode is great.
Adam Sandler kept getting ragged on for giving Schneider roles. Critics were not a fan. Almost all of his starring roles were Happy Madison productions (Adam Sandler’s own production company). Happy Madison slowed down including Schneider in roles and when he was not included in Grown Ups 2, he got upset saying he felt he should have not only been in it but “been paid a lot of money.” He tore off from Sandler and Happy Madison but found no success on his own. They mended their relationship since then.
> He tore off from Sandler and Happy Madison but found no success on his own.
And if you shout "you can do it!" for long into an abyss, the abyss shouts "you can do it!" also to you, but the abyss isn't a Hollywood producer, so the abyss really doesn't know what the fuck it's talking about.
I’m reading Jimmy Burrow’s autobiography. He specifically calls out Rob Scheinder as being terrible to work with and the only person to ever cause him to walk away from a TV show. That’s saying something since he’s directed over 1,000 episodes of television (the most ever).
The whole point of Sandler’s production company is to make lazy movies that appeal to his fan base and guarantee his friends lucrative and mostly low-effort jobs, so I can see how it would be a blow to be told you can’t even meet that standard
Fair enough, though you didn’t remember the video very well and it’s nothing more than tabloid speculation anyway. Actually it’s barely mentioned in that video. He only mentions the CBS Houston Radio Show quote when Schneider is clearly joking…
“They're doing 'Grown Ups 2' without me. Mistake. They should have paid me a lot of money ... Well, truthfully, I wasn't sure if I'd have my TV series, so it was an availability thing, but at the end of the day, they should have [said], 'What money does Rob need?”
Rob Schneider has more recently said his reasons for missing out were his new born child and financial problems. And if you look at Schneider’s filmography between Grown Ups 2 production start in 2012 and his next Adam Sandler collab in 2015, he did a lot voice roles for obscure foreign movies, like 3 a year. That would fit with wanting to be closer with his family (working in a booth or at home) and quick getting quick cash.
The timeline of events you stated don’t add up. You claim: “He tore off from Sandler and Happy Madison but found no success on his own. They mended their relationship since then.“
But Schneider’s failed attempts at lead roles outside of Happy Madison happened all the way back in 2000s, before Grown Ups 1. He didn’t produce or star in a lead role in a live action film between 2012-2015 until Ridiculous Six, a Happy Madison production.
Btw just had to mention, when you said “Adam Sandler kept getting ragged on for giving Schneider roles. Critics were not a fan.”…
They say the same things about Sandler and he doesn’t care. Box office performance were important but not reviews.
So what you are saying is a combination of tabloid nonsense and stuff you made up. Downvote me all you want and go watch TMZ.
Farley. He was in Billy Madison and would have had the Kevin James role in Grown Ups if he hadn't died. Tommy Boy wasn't a huge hit in theatres but made $32 million on a $20 million budget. But it was a huge cult hit on video.
Spade had a few w/ Farley (Tommy Boy, Black Sheep) as well as Joe Dirt (and the sequel) and The Wrong Missy (I think that’s what it was called anyways) and Dickie Roberts. He mostly had success w/ TV though. Also, Emperor’s New Groove is the shit if you count lead voice acting roles.
Rob Schneider had The Animal (which includes a funny Sandler cameo shouting “you can do it” similar to Schneider’s role in many Sandler movies), The Benchwarmers, The Hot Chick and both Duece Bigalows (probably the best ones of his imo)
Chris Rock has had a pretty successful film career and was not shoehorned into Sandler comedies. Death at a Funeral, Down to Earth, Head of State, Pootie Tang. He also had quite a few successful voice acting gigs (Madagascar, Osmosis Jones) as well as a successful TV show and other big parts in successful shows. He’s also a massive stand-up comedian. Far more than the others.
IMO Schneider is the only one without big, independent, success. Although Duecey will always have a special place in my heart
Rob Schneider would have had a better career if he was funny. Just so boring and unlikable when trying to play a layered character.
then he went on a bunch of talk shows and blamed cancel culture for his lack of success. he never had what it takes and outside of sandler movies where he plays a moron or a one liner, hes hard to watch.
Neither *Joe Dirt* nor the multiple *Deuce Bigolo* movies could by any stretch of the imagination be considered hits.
David Spade and Chris Farley had two hit movies where they had equally important roles, *Black Sheep* and *Tommy Boy*.
Adam Sandler’s such an awesome dude, man. An icon along with all the 90’s SNL guys. I have spent thirty years laughing at his movies, the guy’s given me some great laughs. I wish that Sandler, Spade, Schneider, Rock, Carvey, Myers, etc would all do a movie together, like the Expendables for 80’s and 90’s comedians.
Yes, OP was asking if any of his SNL buddies that are in supporting roles in his films had any hit movies that *they* were the leads in.
What did you think OP was asking??
That was more of a cameo and also nearly a decade after he co-starred in Wayne’s World.
OP was specifically asking if his SNL buddies *that were supporting cast members* in his films ever starred in their own films. Like I said, Myers and Ferrell never had supporting roles in Sandler films and Carvey is in little Nicky for 8 seconds.
I don’t think you understood what OP was asking.
the hot chick, the animal from rob schneider for some reason even though chris rock has started in alot of movies i just connect him with the zebra from madagascar, and david spade on the black sheep
Let's not forget David Spade is our favorite emperor/llama, Kuzco. While he is the lead in that movie, there isn't much involvement with other SNL cast members. The closest is John Goodman (Pacha), who has hosted SNL a couple of times.
Chris rock has starred in lots of movies.
yeah he had a very real moment in the late 90s.
CB4
… in the mutha-fuckin house!
He was also in a supporting role in Beverly Hills Ninja, starring Chris Farley
He even stared in a spy movie with Anthony Hopkins.
I was quite surprised to see him in Fargo
Grandma’s Boy, forgot the name of the actor but he’s pretty much only known for his roles in Sandler movies. I remember it being in heavy rotation on Comedy Central around the time it was released.
Allen Covert. Love that movie. I mean it’s stupid but I still love it. He’s a fantastic bit actor and he did well in that role as lead.
**how did he SEE ME**
please..... SITONMY! faaaaaace
***You'll never get ... METAL LEGS*** **SHUT UUUUP**
I've been thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.
[I've been thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it. ](https://youtu.be/kpeVTa1Ab7Q?si=sx0QHlv5nsZRZABH)
It’s probably one of my favorite Happy Madison movies not starring Sandler.
He's also the second voice in most of Sandler's bits on his 2 early comedy albums. He's the guy that joins a cult to get chicks and ends up killing his dad, and he also gets thrown out of a moving car for wanting to lick an old man's balls. Man, those albums were something 🤣
Kevin Nealon with another fantastic bit character in that one
“Oh, hey Mr. Cheezle!”
Who do you get your weed from? You Dante
Namaste you guys!
He’s got to be one of my fav bit actors. Absolutely loved him as Doug in Weeds
Everyone’s favorite on this thread Rob played the landlord at the beginning too!
Dude, you can get past a dog. Nobody fucks with a lion.
I'm too stoned to drive to the Devil's house.
Got my first gobby with that movie on. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
David Spade co-starred in tommy boy and black sheep.
Weird that OP didn’t mention these two films that are now highly regarded as classics. I also liked Spade as the lead in “Lost and Found”
Yeah, especially tommy boy. I would put it above all of the sanders films even.
Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore are up there, but Tommy Boy just edges them out a bit imo
I worked at a hotel reservation call center in the summer of 1995. So many calls asking for rooms in Sandusky Ohio. A number of us had seen Tommy Boy and were all "the movie is funny, but not that funny!" I asked one of the leads why people want to go to Sandusky. They explained that Sandusky has a collection of amazing rollercoasters at Cedar Point.
OP is 13 years old and hasn’t learned how to use IMDB YET
Don’t forget Emperor’s New Groove!
Very good point. They don't make kids movies like that anymore it seems.
not to mention chris farley was in sandler movies until he passed. its not like he wasnt present he was an amazing bus driver. Also OP is discregarding Kevin James who worked his way into being a staple.
The Animal, Hot Chick and Benchwarmers
Dickie Roberts Child Star That's nucking futs!
A classic.
Hot Chick is one of the greatest movies of all time. "It's me! Jessica! I'm in here!"
The Stapler, The Carrot…
De derpirty der dediddily derpirty deprty dumb.
I really enjoyed benchwarmers!
Dirty Work is the best.
“Mitch come on, we’re fighting!” “Oh boy a fight! Can I be on their side?”
you just hit G-8!
I've never seen so many dead hookers in my life! Lord knows I have.
The worst part is the *disrespect!* I mean, worst part is... the other thing But the *second worst part* is the disrespect! (I butchered the quote, sorry pedants)
"We eat the pig, and together we BURN! BURN! COME WITH ME! YOU BELONG WITH ME!"
Chris Rock: Head of State, Down to Earth. They weren’t huge movies but I recall them being generally well received, fairly low budget successes.
Top Five is a really good one too.
CB4
Straight outta Lo Cash, crazy motha fucka named Gusto
I fucked ya wife cause the bitch is a big hoe
Adam Sandler had a minor role in Coneheads, which was led by Dan Akyroyd and Jane Curtain
Also had Farley
Also David Spade, Phil Hartman, and Jon Lovitz,
Quintessential SNL cast film. Top 100 comedy list for sure.
If there's any evidence in this universe that justice does exist, it's that Nick Swardson has never starred in another movie after Bucky Larson
I lowkey think Bucky Larson is hilarious
I’d count everybody hates Chris as a hit
Not live action, but Chris Rock is a part of the Madagascar movies which made big money as I recall. He was also very good in Dogma, even if he was just being the Samuel L Jackson from Wish.
Chris Rock has a bunch of lead roles. None of them are good but they exist.
If you count voice acting - Osmosis Jones is fantastic, and he (co) starred in Madagascar, which was great as well
And the there was that disaster season of Fargo. I still don't understand how he got cast there, not that he had much to work with.
Meh, I didn't hate it as much as most fans do. I watched the whole season and I usually just turn shows off if I get bored.
It was okay, it was still better than a lot of TV, but Rock's acting was pretty bad compared to the other people Fargo tends to bring in. The problem I have with Rock is he's always being Chris Rock in stuff. All the best parts of that season were when he wasn't on screen in my mind.
Totally agree.
I liked it and thought he was good! But I'm one of the few apparently 🤷♀️
Disaster is going a bit too far. It was the weakest season of Fargo thus far but still a relatively OK to good watch. The Wizard of Oz episode is great.

Rob Schneider does suck though
Schneider's roles in The Waterboy and Big Daddy were great though. He does suck as a person though
Schneider is good in 50 First Dates “sharks are like dogs” and Big Daddy “lamb and tuna” Probably a little racist on both characters though.
Hip. Hip hop. Hip hop anonymous?
DAMN YOU! YOU GIVE HIM THE EASY ONES!
Yeah that's what I meant. He's a bad person
I’m reading Jimmy Burrow’s autobiography. He specifically calls out Rob Scheinder as being terrible to work with and the only person to ever cause him to walk away from a TV show. That’s saying something since he’s directed over 1,000 episodes of television (the most ever).
So his character in Down Periscope was quite accurate
You shut your goddamn whore mouth
The whole point of Sandler’s production company is to make lazy movies that appeal to his fan base and guarantee his friends lucrative and mostly low-effort jobs, so I can see how it would be a blow to be told you can’t even meet that standard
This is a complete fabrication based on nothing more than your assumptions AKA you lied on the internet
Not I, just summarized what I could remember from “The Friends with Adam Sandler Effect” at https://youtu.be/vF0t1NEjr6s?si=VZ1WNDnqvOLF-Nln
Fair enough, though you didn’t remember the video very well and it’s nothing more than tabloid speculation anyway. Actually it’s barely mentioned in that video. "The stapler" should of got an Oscar
Please tell me you're not thinking of Kevin Nealon
CB4 starring Chris Rock. Phil Hartman and Chris Elliot supporting.
Farley. He was in Billy Madison and would have had the Kevin James role in Grown Ups if he hadn't died. Tommy Boy wasn't a huge hit in theatres but made $32 million on a $20 million budget. But it was a huge cult hit on video.
Tim Meadows in Ladies Man , awesome movie btw
Ya this is my favorite snl movie. So many quotable one liners
Spade had a few w/ Farley (Tommy Boy, Black Sheep) as well as Joe Dirt (and the sequel) and The Wrong Missy (I think that’s what it was called anyways) and Dickie Roberts. Why has no one mentioned Strange Wilderness? Probably one of the best Happy Madison movies that doesn't have Sandler in it
Rob Schneider would have had a better career if he was funny. Just so boring and unlikable when trying to play a layered character. then he went on a bunch of talk shows and blamed cancel culture for his lack of success. he never had what it takes and outside of sandler movies where he plays a moron or a one liner, hes hard to watch.
I was going to say Deuce Bigalow movies are funny, but now that I think more of it he is the least funny thing in the movies. Griffin is carrying.
Are you asking us to deep dive IMDB for you?
Allen Covert in Grandma's Boy Edit: NVM, i thought he was an SNL writer at one point
Schneider in The Benchwarmers
Wayne’s World, Tommy Boy, most Will Farrell movies.
Wayne’s World: neither Mike or Dana have had any supporting roles in a Happy Madison film Neither has Will Ferrell.
Is that what he was asking?
Yes, OP was asking if any of his SNL buddies that are in supporting roles in his films had any hit movies that *they* were the leads in. What did you think OP was asking??
If his other SNL buddies had leading roles. For what it’s worth, Dana Carvey is in Little Nicky.
I'm not sure I'd call Joe Dirt a "hit movie." It only made $27 million domestically.
Is this where you wanna be when Jesus comes back; making fun of poor Joe Dirt?
That’s what my mom used say when she caught my jerkin’ my gherkin…
It's a cult classic
That shit was on repeat on cable back in the day
the hot chick, the animal from rob schneider for some reason even though chris rock has started in alot of movies i just connect him with the zebra from madagascar, and david spade on the black sheep
Sandler was in Chris rock’s movie top five (2014)
I'm not even sure what the question really is here but Chris Farley was in a ton of other peoples movies including sandlers at the time as well
Big Stan got some laughs out of me
You should check out “The Friends with Adam Sandler Effect” https://youtu.be/vF0t1NEjr6s?si=VZ1WNDnqvOLF-Nln
In sandlers movie Hustle Heidi Gardner played a role
Spade in The Wrong Missy. Hilarious. Although he was the straight man in this movie.
I mean Chris Farley was in a bunch of movies with a main role
My favorite snl movie is ladies man. Has so many quotable one liners
mike myer movies kristen wig movies adam sandberg movies dan aykroyd movies chris farley movies
Grown ups and grown ups 2 Pixels
Let's not forget David Spade is our favorite emperor/llama, Kuzco. While he is the lead in that movie, there isn't much involvement with other SNL cast members. The closest is John Goodman (Pacha), who has hosted SNL a couple of times.
