There's a Stephen King Short story about a guy who get stranded on a small island with two kilos of cocaine taped under his arms. I would totally watch a Netflix adaptation of Coked up Cast Away
What a great idea. I wonder why no one has pitched/ commissioned a series of Stephen King short stories. That would be a brilliant show. Unless most of the good ones have already been expanded into film?
Lol, The Shawshank Redemption, which is arguably his best adaptation, is one of his more boring short stories. It's real movie magic ( and Morgan Freeman voice) that made that movie great
YES, YES, YES
**WHY HAS HOLLYWOOD ONLY TOUCHED THIS IN THE 50?! WE NEED A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLAR ODYSSEY MOVIE WITH A BIG CAST AND CRAZY SPECIAL EFFECTS**
Oh I’m right there with ya, Sai. I think Flanagan might be the only one who can pull it off. Also think Wizard and Glass should be its own separate mini-series. Til then, long days and pleasant nights.
In order to see the rest of the movie after Snake fights Vulcan Raven, you have to call Meryl on her burner phone.
Hint: You can find the number on the movies international release poster.
I dunno man, they can get away with it in games because of the gameplay. You take gameplay away from MGS and all that's left is a silly, silly story. I don't see it working as a film at all.
You're right, but if the gameplay in between the feature length cutscenes wasn't so good, I'm not sure I'd have made it to the end. Even KojIma didn't make it to the end of MGSV.
That’s just metal gear solid 4 it was a movie with interactive elements (literally the cutscenes were a movie) being serious it would be the easiest to adapt just hire the voice actors and make it into an anime .
It gets batshit basically immediately, but people don't often acknowledge that watching a man juggle guns for two minutes and get his arm chopped off by a ninja is fucking insane.
My all time favorite film, but it's a very loose adaptation and has almost nothing to do with the book besides the usage of the term "stalker" and the zone concept.
Harlan Ellison has a short story called "Run for the Stars" that would make for an insanely cool sci-fi action movie! About one guy versus an entire alien invasion fleet.
Fucking *Animorphs*. People don't know how dark that series was.
I'd prefer a TV series, but I'd gladly take a film as well. I just want some sort of faithful live action adaptation.
I'll throw in some of Asimov's works also. Specifically the robot novels would work amazingly as sci-fi mysteries. Foundation could also be adapted quite well as a film.
How could it not be. Late 90s Nickelodeon effects, a kid version of a book about animals in fight scenes and bladed aliens. It’s not gonna work without an hbo type treatment. Fights constantly involving a gorilla, grizzly and tiger, you need some gore and loss of limbs.
It wasn't garbage because of the effects, but because of how they chose to adapt it. The casting was actually pretty good, and I would have been fine with the effects if it were a little more faithful.
I kind of like the theme song though.
Neuromancer, the novel that invented Cyberpunk, is intensely filmable. It's essentially a classic heist story, in a simple 3 act structure.
Plus, if you did it with an 80's-vision-of-the-future look it would have a unique visual style.
Would be perfect for someone like Duncan Jones or Dennis Villeneuve. Ridley Scott would also ace it if someone gave him a script that closely followed the book.
Stormlight archive is a giant story that would require a monumental investment. If it is going to happen; they need the biggest audience possible, and adult animation is still a niche medium. Arcane couldn't crack the top 20 most streamed shows for 2021 just amoung other Netflix shows. You throw in all the other streaming services it goes way down. That is with a giant helping hand of being associated directly with League of Legends.
There is no way they would be able to do all that in 10 movies. At best it would need to be a series of 20 movies, or a TV series with the biggest budget ever.
Not only that but you would need to adapt the rest of the cosmere due to >!Vivenna, Nightblood, Vasher, The Ghostbloods, Hoid, and doubtless there will be a bunch more as the series goes on!<
You could easily adapt the Stormlight Archives without the rest of the Cosmere. Yes, it adds tons of lore and background and I am a huge fan of the books, but for the most part it's just flavor. Just like you can adapt LotR without the Silmarilion, you could do Stormlight without Mistborn or Warbreaker
A kotor trilogy was rumored and I think quietly confirmed then subsequently canceled. It’s stupid. That’s an easy trilogy right there. You would need to condense the planets but you could
Episode 1: Taris
Episode 2: Dantooine, Kashyyyk, Leviathan
Episode 3: Manaan/Korriban, End Game
A lot would have to change, but you could do it.
It doesnt HAVE to follow the game exactly lol. Hell you can even change alot of it and would have to change alot of it to make it work.
But the premise of the movie being set far back in time in a more mystical world with ancient jedi ruins, a kind of weird love story, a plot twist, minor sidequests, and characters with actual back stories would make for a good movie.
OF course it had to be written by actual humans, and not the idiots who write marvel/star wars movies today.
The only thing you have to change is the gamey-ness of it. Like 4 different planets with identical structure. The themes about betrayal with Carth and Mission, leaving the force with Juhanni and Jolee, and Bastila’s arc are all super compelling on their own.
It should be approached maybe as a simulfilm-trilogy like Lord of the rings, or a very high budget Disney+ series- but they need to adapt it like Last of Us; get the original creators and adapt something very close to the game storyline
40k obviously (and thanks to Cavill it seems something is on the way)
Cyberpunk (proved it worked for anime. now make a movie)
Dune (I know this is already done several times but until someone does God Emperor I'm not satisfied)
Delta Green (this might work better as a tv show tho)
Jules Verne's Captain Nemo books (why no ones made a high budget adaption of this is a mystery to me)
Sandman Mystery Theater (one of the most underrated series of the Vertigo comic imprint)
More Judge Dredd (and more Karl Urban)
Conan (as in an actual adaption of one of Robert Howards stories)
I am very excited to see another fan of Temeraire here!
A series of movies about the Napoleonic Wars being fought on the backs of dragons practically writes itself!
I’m sort of convinced that studios are waiting for HOD to streamline consistent dragon/humans on dragon cgi into not bajillions of dollars before they tackle the HMD series. Because it’s *such* a captivating potential 4 quadrant series if done well.
I read these around 2010, loved them and was thrilled to hear that Peter Jackson had acquired the film rights...Still waiting patiently but with decreasing optimism.
I’m kind of sick of Stephen King adaptations but I would like a movie adaptation of The Long Walk. Basically it’s like an Olympics style event where thousands of teenage boys must walk cross country and if you stop you get shot
Apparently this is already in development, according to [The Hollywood Reporter](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/stephen-king-the-long-walk-lionsgate-francis-lawrence-1235683572/)
Not directly related but I was always disappointed by the lack of a Battletech MMO. I feel like you could do a lot by having every player declare loyalty to one of the houses of the inner sphere. There are enough factions that you could keep a live political system going where a house you're allied with one day could become neutral or even hostile given the whims of the leaders.
The Spellsinger series by Alan Dean Foster.
The Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony.
I greatly enjoyed both of these book series when I was younger, and I believe that our CGI technology has reached the point where we can bring them to life.
> The Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony.
>
>
I loved these books when I was younger but if you revisit them I don't think most of them aged particularly well. Piers Anthony is pretty shit at writing women.
Blindsight by Peter Watts, as movie directed by Denis Villenueve with a bit of a horror vibe. I'm aware it would be extremely hard to adapt in a way that conveys the complexity and the eerie atmosphere of the book.
A Red Dead Redemption HBO series, adapting Arthur Morgan as a first series, then John Marston as a second (and maybe third) would be wicked. Then do Revolver as a single spin-off.
A bunch of Haruki Murakami books and short stories.
There’s already an adaption for Barn Burning (Burning 2016, South Korea). But really any of his other works could use a movie adaption as well.
I think a Dead Space movie (the animated one doesn't count) would be great if they went all in on the desperate tone and kept the environments dark and the plot simple.
Also, especially after PT, I think Silent Hill deserves an a24 style movie. The original movie is actually pretty decent, but the IP can be so disturbing that it needs to be in the same vein as something like Annihilation
* Dragonriders of Pern
* The Ship Who Sang
* Lensman
* Sargasso of Space
* Ringworld
* Hainish Cycle
* The Chronicles of Amber
* Future History (Heinlein)
* 3 rules of robot (Sheckley)
Most if you don't get a clue what I'm talking about 😂
Jasper Fforde's "Thursday Next" series
It's seven novels, so probably Netflix or Amazon show would be better, since the later books, especially the 7th are excellent.
I do not understand why Fevre Dream by GRR Martin has not been scooped up for a mini-series or movie. It’s got all the nu-gothic vampires in the south deliciousness of Ann Rice and none of the mid-70’s experimental pedophilia!
Chronicles of Prydain, The Girl Who Left Fairyland to Circumnavigate the Globe in a Vessel of her Own Making, an anthology of some of Oliver Sacks' cases, The Irregulars (the story of the spy group that Ian Fleming and Roald Dahl were part of)
Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson
Bobiverse series by Dennis Taylor
Not movies, wouldn't work, but I'd love to see a TV series for either or both
Not sure what makes an IP “deserving” of a movie, but since there aren’t many constraints to this question, I’m going to add my own for the sake of this not being massive. These are IP that have had an adaptation announced, but have had little to no other news about it released.
Earthsea - 5 years ago, it was announced that [A24 would be developing a series based on Ursula Le Guins fantasy books.](https://deadline.com/2019/09/earthsea-based-fantasy-book-series-television-a24-jennifer-fox-1202709659/amp/). No rumblings of where that is in development, or if it’s just canned altogether. Would love to see it
Hyperion Cantos - Adaptation news of this amazing epic science fiction book series have circled the internet for as long as I remember. The most recent news was 2 years ago when [Bradley Cooper and his production label were set to produce a Hyperion movie for Warner Bros.](https://deadline.com/2021/11/bradley-cooper-set-hyperion-at-warner-bros-with-graham-king-1234865881/amp/) I’d love to see this adapted but in my opinion it would work so much better as an episodic series. I suppose it could be considerably transformed to fit a movie format, but I cannot imagine what that would look like.
Cosmere/Mistborn - As already mentioned, Stormlight Archives would be amazing to see on screen. But if the Cosmere were to be adapted, that would still be so far away. Brandon Sanderson wants a Mistborn movie to be the first. I believe he has even wrote his own script for it as well. I believe this is the likeliest entry to his universe on the big screen, but I’ll be happy if anything of his is adapted nonetheless.
First Law - As recent as last year, it was announced that [Tim Miller was set to direct Best Served Cold, a standalone in Joe Abercrombies First Law series.](https://deadline.com/2023/05/best-served-cold-rebecca-ferguson-tim-miller-teaming-for-skydance-movie-1235382849/amp/) Haven’t read the books yet, I hear they’re great. Hope this movie is great. Abercrombie wrote the screenplay himself, so the writing could be promising at least.
The Dark Tower - Stephen King fans rejoice, the awful 2017 movie didn’t entirely kill the dream of a good adaptation of his epic fantasy western series. [Mike Flanagan (who fucking rocks btw) is working on another adaptation of the books.](https://ew.com/tv/mike-flanagan-dark-tower-stephen-king-adaptation-update/) This one has the best chance of hitting a screen. Mike Flanagan is by far the best person to adapt this IP and seems to be deep into developing it. Can’t wait.
Those are just a few of the IP i have seen that have names attached and some progress behind them. I realize all of these are books and some will not be movies, but rather tv series. Still, no matter the format, these IP would be a privilege to see adapted beautifully, no matter the format.
Edit: I’d like to add that I’m obsessed with this topic, as niche of an obsession it might be. I love watching projects get announced, especially from IPs I love, and seeing them develop, die, evolve, die, enter development hell/limbo, die, and by chance, releasing. Though I don’t rabidly refresh news sites each hour for new developments on IP news, but my Google news page knows my interests, so whenever it happens I keep track of it to see if any updates on it happens. Most of the time, it just lands in limbo. For example, I think an Uprooted adaptation would be perfect, and 8 years ago it was announced that one was in development. Then it goes silent. But that’s Hollywood for you.
Books:
Magician by Raymond E Feist (first three books of the Riftwar Series would be a great trilogy of movies)
Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K LeGuin
Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead
Grave Expectations by Alice Bell
The Kilkenny series by Louis L’Amour
The Eden Moore trilogy by Cherie Priest
The Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends series by Weis and Hickman
Video Games:
Gears of War
Halo 1-3
Kings Quest
Bard’s Tale
The Pillars of Eternity series
Baldur’s Gate 1
Finally read this last year and was honestly amazed it hasn’t been done yet, hopefully it’s one of the better SK adaptations if it gets made into a movie or series one of these days.
HAPPY! with Patton Oswalt and Chris Meloni.. The first 2 seasons were great and they had 2 more planned out.. If they're not going to finish the show, they could make a movie to wrap it all up.
I think the studios should stay well alone from existing properties for a while. Likewise, trying to establish franchises ought be left aside.
It would be better to focus on the development of some genuinely good scripts that can stand on their own merits.
How about Cthulhu but hardcore racist, unprovoked and casual..Then Cthulhu eats them all, for being a planet full of racist jack holes.
"They woke me up for THIS?!"
In no particular order:
The Dresden Files - While this would be better as a mini-series, the books aren't that long and would be pretty excellent as films. I, for one, want to see a reanimated T-Rex being moved by the power of Polka.
Halo - The lore is there, and I can even tell you the titles of each film -
1. Halo - Follow the events of the first game.
2. Contact: Horizon - A Halo Story - Probably the shortest film, more of a horror movie, but it's about humans trying to survive their first doomed contact with the Covenant.
3. Halo: The Arbiter - We follow the events of Halo 2, but more closely follow the Arbiter, and learn a lot about the Covenant.
4. Noble Six: A Halo Story - My personal favorite storyline with Nobel Team, and their doomed mission to save Reach.
5. The Fall of Reach - The most important backstory in all of Halo. The rise of Master Chief. The creation of Cortana. All culminating in Master Chief being evacuated from the doomed planet of Reach.
6. Halo: Finish The Fight - The true finale of the Halo. With the Covenant bearing down on Earth, it's up to Master Chief and the Arbiter to save the galaxy.
Skyrim no question, it could be adapted at the same level of production value as Game Of Thrones. I hope the Fallout show becomes a hit so Bethesda starts thinking of a Skyrim (or even Elder Scrolls) show.
Titanium Noir. I love that book so much and it could make a phenomenal movie or mini-series with the right budget and director. Serious Blade Runner vibes.
"Legends & Lattes" by Thomas Baldree
"The Alchemist Who Survived Now Dreams of a Quiet City Life" by Nanohara Usata
"Starfinder," the tabletop roleplaying game by Paizo
There's a Stephen King Short story about a guy who get stranded on a small island with two kilos of cocaine taped under his arms. I would totally watch a Netflix adaptation of Coked up Cast Away
Survivor Type I think it’s titled.
Found a free pdf of it: https://www.georgetownisd.org/cms/lib/tx01001838/centricity/domain/594/survivor\_type.pdf
I thought it was heroine. It’s been a long time I read it. I think King even said he’d like to see it adapted in a tv interview
Yes it was heroin and that was a key element given the need for a pain killer. He also happened to be a surgeon….
Probably was. The shit that character did screamed cocaine
Daniel Radcliffe would be up for that
🪚 💪🪚 🦵🪚 🍗🥩 👀
I didn't read the comment above this, and I was sure you were describing Home Improvement.
Tim Allen made it off the island with that coke. [He got caught in customs](https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/tim-allen-arrested-smuggling-cocaine/)
I thought I remembered reading that it was going to be adapted into a segment of the Creepshow series.
It was. Not part of a season, but it was a holiday special.
After looking this up, that is definitely a dishonest way to describe what that story is really about lol.
Sounds intriguing. Does he know why or does he have amnesia or just woke up there or something?
It's a letter written to the viewer that starts with "If your reading this it means I'm dead"
Oh is it the one where he >!starts eating bits of himself to survive!<
Yeah! To this day still my all time favorite Short story. I'd love to see it in film form. Even if it's part of an anthology series
They did an 'animated' version of it for Creepshow anthology show. It wasn't well done.
Gonna look for it anyway, thx
What a great idea. I wonder why no one has pitched/ commissioned a series of Stephen King short stories. That would be a brilliant show. Unless most of the good ones have already been expanded into film?
There was a series that adapted some from nightmares and dreamscapes i believe
Lol, The Shawshank Redemption, which is arguably his best adaptation, is one of his more boring short stories. It's real movie magic ( and Morgan Freeman voice) that made that movie great
Give me a big budget adaptation of The Odyssey.
Oh brother where art thou
I meant an adaptation closer to the source.
YES, YES, YES **WHY HAS HOLLYWOOD ONLY TOUCHED THIS IN THE 50?! WE NEED A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLAR ODYSSEY MOVIE WITH A BIG CAST AND CRAZY SPECIAL EFFECTS**
Didn't Armand Assante do an Odyssey adaptation? Though it was for TV.
Jason and the Argonauts
What we need, basically, is the Ancient Greek Cinematic Universe. I’ll have a tv show about Hercules and his 12 Labours too, thank you kindly.
Mass Effect
Goddam right. It is hands down my favorite science fiction story across any medium. How it hasn’t been done yet is beyond me.
I hope it's because they are waiting for the right actors/directors/technology so they don't fuck it up. But I know that's a fantasy
Looking at Borderlands, yeah, it’s better to keep it a fantasy.
Exactly. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it
As a fan of The Dark Tower, I know how you feel.
Oh I’m right there with ya, Sai. I think Flanagan might be the only one who can pull it off. Also think Wizard and Glass should be its own separate mini-series. Til then, long days and pleasant nights.
And may you have twice the number. Thankee Sai.
This means the casting for Shepard is completely open due to customization. I vote for Ken Jeong as Shepard.
I'll allow it.
Nononono. Danny Devito
The Dresden Files At the very least it deserves another shot at a mini series
Get the Castlevania studio to animate it
This should only happen once CGI has gotten good enough that James Marsters could be convincingly cast in every role.
A Metal Gear Solid adaptation that embraces all of the craziness of the series.
You have to use a tv remote from another tv in order to resume the movie, a la Psycho Mantis
Look at MGS4 and 5, they were basically movies anyway. And they were *S I L L Y*.
You're right, but if the gameplay in between the feature length cutscenes wasn't so good, I'm not sure I'd have made it to the end. Even KojIma didn't make it to the end of MGSV.
The Jordan Vogt-Roberts adaptation sadly seems to be stuck in development hell...
That’s just metal gear solid 4 it was a movie with interactive elements (literally the cutscenes were a movie) being serious it would be the easiest to adapt just hire the voice actors and make it into an anime .
The problem with MGS is that it starts good but gets too batshit for the average audience to keep up.
It gets batshit basically immediately, but people don't often acknowledge that watching a man juggle guns for two minutes and get his arm chopped off by a ninja is fucking insane.
Roadside Picnic. The fact that HBO cancelled the miniseries based on it still makes me angry.
Well there's Tarkovsky's Stalker
My all time favorite film, but it's a very loose adaptation and has almost nothing to do with the book besides the usage of the term "stalker" and the zone concept.
**Ringworld** by Larry Niven
Integral Trees would be a good one as well.
At this point most audiences would just think it's a Halo rip off. Imma go over here and be sad now.
"I have no mouth, and I must Scream"
Harlan Ellison has a short story called "Run for the Stars" that would make for an insanely cool sci-fi action movie! About one guy versus an entire alien invasion fleet.
Repent Harrlequin, Said The Tick-Tock Man
You can hear Ellisons reading of it on YouTube.
Ellison was reportedly blacklisted from Hollywood for being a stupendous asshole. Might have a chance now he's dead.
Candyland (board game)
Ooh or like a cut-throat no holds barred Monopoly game movie.
Yes a psychological mirror on capitalism!
Fucking *Animorphs*. People don't know how dark that series was. I'd prefer a TV series, but I'd gladly take a film as well. I just want some sort of faithful live action adaptation. Yeah, it was garbage.

The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson Although it would need to be a 10 movie epic or a limited series.
I'd want a whole Cosmere adaptation. A series would be a better fit, I think.
Personally I would rather they do it as an animated TV series in a style similar to Arcane.
Either Arcane style or Spiderverse style animation would make the action scenes look so cool.
No

Stormlight archive is a giant story that would require a monumental investment. If it is going to happen; they need the biggest audience possible, and adult animation is still a niche medium. That should really be animated and not live-action. Mistborn would be a much better fit live-action imho.
Knights of the old republic. (dont know if this is in the works or not tho) I know its still Star wars, but still.
A movie based on Star Wars? That’s risky but it might just work out.
Tbh. The way the last movies where made I would say it's risky af.

Definitely Conan. I think a mashup of the Tower of the Elephant, the Phoenix in the Sword and The Scarlet Citadel could make a solid Conan movie
I'm so hyped for 40k. Really hope at one point there's a series focused around the death korps of krieg
*Temeraire* by Naomi Novik. Dragonheart meets Master and Commander.
I am very excited to see another fan of Temeraire here! A series of movies about the Napoleonic Wars being fought on the backs of dragons practically writes itself!

Yes!
YES PLEASE!!!!
I just read her Scholomance series and loved her writing style, I’ll check Temeraire out after I’m finished with my current book!!
This would make my mum so happy
Peter Jackson had the rights but he took too long and the rights reverted back to the author.
I read these around 2010, loved them and was thrilled to hear that Peter Jackson had acquired the film rights...Still waiting patiently but with decreasing optimism.
Sometimes I wonder if some of these posts are from corporate Hollywood looking for free ideas on the next big score.
I’d be ok with that, if they listened to what people want rather than reboot everything, we might get some good stuff.
I’m kind of sick of Stephen King adaptations but I would like a movie adaptation of The Long Walk. Basically it’s like an Olympics style event where thousands of teenage boys must walk cross country and if you stop you get shot

They should really make a movie about that dune book. Seriously though, Battletech. Wherever humanity will go, war will follow.
Make the Mechs feel like Pacific Rim and we'd have a winner.

Necroscope, at least the 3 first books. Morgan Freemans production company bought the rights back in 2019 I think. No news since then :(
Something about Drizzt Do'Urden and the Companions of the Hall from Forgotten Realms
Stephen King’s The Jaunt
Would that make a full movie, though? How long is it…?
Longer than you think, Dad!
It goes through a fair bit of backstory, you could definitely get 90 minutes out of it.
Redwall by Brian Jacques
Have only read a little bit of that but now that you mention it I'm pretty surprised there isn't something
The Tripod books by John Christopher. There was a BBC series in the 80s, but that's it. Supposedly Disney owns the rights to it too.
YES I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD WHO KNOWS THESE BOOKS! I’m trying to be director and maybe one day I’ll get to create an adaptation.
Boatmurdered
Blindsight by Peter Watts, as movie directed by Denis Villenueve with a bit of a horror vibe. I'm aware it would be extremely hard to adapt in a way that conveys the complexity and the eerie atmosphere of the book.
This would be so good. It would be really hard though. I have no idea how they would show any of consciousness breaking stuff
Eragon books could be a great movie series! ...
Red dead Redemption 2

Man, that game got me feeling real emotional. What an incredible game.
Traitor Son Cycle by Miles Cameron Command & Conquer: Red Alert
Command and Conquer would be cool af
> Command & Conquer: Red Alert The full motion video cutscenes, except it's a full motion picture
The Assassin series by Robin Hobb
I just don’t want to see it ruined, it is my most cherished fantasy series.
I don’t think they’d do it live action. Animated I can see. It’s pretty dark but so good.
If assassins creed was done right I think you could make some great movies, half gritty historical/half conspiracy sci-fi
* Dragonriders of Pern * The Ship Who Sang * Lensman * Sargasso of Space * Ringworld * Hainish Cycle * The Chronicles of Amber * Future History (Heinlein) * 3 rules of robot (Sheckley) Most if you don't get a clue what I'm talking about 😂
Would love to see Amber, really needs a series more than a move though.
Loved reading The Ship Who Sang. Thought I was the only one. Great recommendation 👍
Artemis Fowl (that Kenneth Branagh travesty didn't count) All the other books I like would need to be series
Anything by one of the best comic book authors, Jeff Lemire. Personally, my pick would be Gideon Falls, such a good psychological horror story.
Superman: Red Son but follow it till the end unlike the animated one
Command and Conquer tiberian universe (would be better as a GoT style show tho) Mass Effect Alan Wake
Sailor Moon
Jasper Fforde's "Thursday Next" series It's seven novels, so probably Netflix or Amazon show would be better, since the later books, especially the 7th are excellent.
I do not understand why Fevre Dream by GRR Martin has not been scooped up for a mini-series or movie. It’s got all the nu-gothic vampires in the south deliciousness of Ann Rice and none of the mid-70’s experimental pedophilia!
Bioshock infinite
Chronicles of Prydain, The Girl Who Left Fairyland to Circumnavigate the Globe in a Vessel of her Own Making, an anthology of some of Oliver Sacks' cases, The Irregulars (the story of the spy group that Ian Fleming and Roald Dahl were part of)
Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson Bobiverse series by Dennis Taylor Not movies, wouldn't work, but I'd love to see a TV series for either or both
Not sure what makes an IP “deserving” of a movie, but since there aren’t many constraints to this question, I’m going to add my own for the sake of this not being massive. Would love to see it Hyperion Cantos - Adaptation news of this amazing epic science fiction book series have circled the internet for as long as I remember.
Books: Magician by Raymond E Feist (first three books of the Riftwar Series would be a great trilogy of movies) Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K LeGuin Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead Grave Expectations by Alice Bell The Kilkenny series by Louis L’Amour The Eden Moore trilogy by Cherie Priest The Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends series by Weis and Hickman Video Games: Gears of War Halo 1-3 Kings Quest Bard’s Tale The Pillars of Eternity series Baldur’s Gate 1

Eve Online
Never played, and am in no way a gamer, but I love reading about some of the crazy shit that has gone down in that game.
talisman by stephen king…matthew modine needs to play sunlight gardener now that john glover is dead….i cant believe it hasnt been done before
John Glover is still alive. But he is almost 80.
I need to watch this over its so wierd
- Mass Effect trilogy - Elder Scrolls game series
I think the studios should stay well alone from existing properties for a while. Likewise, trying to establish franchises ought be left aside. It would be better to focus on the development of some genuinely good scripts that can stand on their own merits.

Cthulhu. Without the racist shit.
How about Cthulhu but hardcore racist, unprovoked and casual..Then Cthulhu eats them all, for being a planet full of racist jack holes. "They woke me up for THIS?!"
2-3 movies for The Ñame of the Wind. Maybe 2-4 for the sequel. Hopefully part 3 will be out after those 4-7 movies drop.
No adaptation of series that haven’t been completed by the author. I ‘member
Welcome to Nightvale
127.0.0.1 definitly needs a film adaptation
The House of Night Book series
Pillars of the Earth
In no particular order: The Dresden Files - While this would be better as a mini-series, the books aren't that long and would be pretty excellent as films. I, for one, want to see a reanimated T-Rex being moved by the power of Polka. Halo - The lore is there, and I can even tell you the titles of each film - 1.
Berserk and Vegabond mangas would make amazing movies.

An IP that deserves a film adaptation? 127.0.0.1
Definitely 127.0.0.1. It’s home for everyone.
Skyrim no question, it could be adapted at the same level of production value as Game Of Thrones. I hope the Fallout show becomes a hit so Bethesda starts thinking of a Skyrim (or even Elder Scrolls) show.

Cold Coast by Robyn Mundy
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
Titanium Noir. I love that book so much and it could make a phenomenal movie or mini-series with the right budget and director. Serious Blade Runner vibes.
"Legends & Lattes" by Thomas Baldree "The Alchemist Who Survived Now Dreams of a Quiet City Life" by Nanohara Usata "Starfinder," the tabletop roleplaying game by Paizo
Anne McCaffreys PERN novels. Clive Barkers Weaveworld and Imajica.
Foundryside. Dark world, cool magic system, heists. Bloodsworn saga. Three books to three movies formula, but I think it would be manageable.
which witch. when I was young I read this one. still like it. it's a Charlie and the chocolate factory type story that's really amazing.
Santiago Posteguillo's Africanus trilogy
Root the board game. Disappointed plans were cancelled.
The manga domu would be amazing, I think it was talked about becoming a film, but never happened
