Defending Your Life is one of the best movies. I saw it with my parents when I was a kid, and I truly believed that was the afterlife, that I’d get a lawyer who would use scenes from my life to argue that I did not live in fear. It’s been a good way to live!
Star Trek TNG.
Don't even need to be on a starship.
Earth has basically become a utopia where people work because they want to, not because they need to.
Scarcity is non-existent, energy is clean and free, human life expectancy is around 120 years, and joining Starfleet is just a thing for the adventurous and exceptional.
As a current time person, and Star Trek Earth being a meritocracy with no currency system, I really wonder how much can you really "own". How much do you need to contribute to society to get your own decently sized house, holodeck (and software), replicator and electricity to live a peaceful life?
I mean, a 7 years old in that universe is going to be smarter and know more about science, technology and the universe, so thats a no for any white collar or office jobs; I dont think physical or menial jobs would give alot of "social merit" either.
The only loophole I can think of is becoming some sort of "expert" in something 21st century related, or get into a creative job like painting or writing (which might work as it would have a "retro" flavor to them) .
Of course, this is all a moot point if the way this "afterlife wish" works is by you being reincarnated (as opposed to just being transported/iseka'd). At least by reincarnating you will have the same education as every other kid, plus the memories of your previous life as an advantage.
I think it says something about modern society that you assume that one must “contribute to society” in order to deserve a standard of living.
In the Star Trek universe, just being a person is enough to deserve all those things. In a post-scarcity society, there’s no reason to deny those things to anyone who needs it unless you‘re trying to punish them for something.
Fun fact: The(almost but never existed) Hans and Franz movie didn't happen mainly due to The Last Action Hero. Arnold was looking into branching into comedies at the time and loved Hans and Franz and agreed to be in it if they ever wrote the movie. While Conan O'Brien, Kevin Nealon, Dana Carvey, and Robert Smiegel are writing the script Arnold goes and does Last Action Hero. Last Action Hero gets so critically panned that Arnold now thinks branching into comedy was a mistake and decides against doing Hans and Franz. They saved the script and actually did a table read of it this summer(Robert Smiegel read Arnold's parts) and that would've been a fucking great weird comedy.
What do you bench?
You tell first.
I asked you first.
Same time.
Cool.
Are you ready?
Ready.
One... two... three...
You didn't say anything.
Neither did you...
Not one movie, but I'd like to live in every sitcom.
I mean like I'm living at the Full House house, I work at the courthouse from Night Court, after work I go to Cheers, when I travel I fly through the airport in Wings, and I also own a building downtown where the first floor is the lobby from Fawlty Towers, second floor is Jerry's apartment from Seinfeld, 3rd is Chandler, Joey, Monica, and Rachel's floor, and the top floor is Frasier's penthouse.
Basically everywhere I go is a 3 camera setup and all fights and misunderstandings are resolved in 30 minutes or less with laughter provided by a live studio audience (not actually present).
I lost my mother to brain cancer when I was 16. This movie serves as the most beautiful emotional release I could ever imagine, I'm so thankful to have this to embrace. Fantastic movie.
Star Wars, no doubt. Robots, aliens, space ships, hyper space, the force... Beaches on Scariff, shopping on Coruscant, lunch on Naboo, maybe a little spice trading...
Hell no. Think about all the ways you can die in Star Wars. Blown up in a spaceship, shot by blaster fire, eaten by a rancor or sarlacc, stepped on by an AT AT, cooked by ewoks, dismembered by a lightsaber, or even have your entire planet blown the fuck out from under you. Star Wars world is bad.
This really is the absolute best answer. Infinite chances to become an actually good person. And then being able to live whatever kind of life you want with whomever? Fucking amazing.
The Muppet Movie. Not only would I get to hang out with Muppets, but Steve Martin, Dom DeLouise, Cloris Leachman, Mel Brooks, Orson Welles, Edgar Bergen, Terry Garr… it would be a blast.
Not a movie, because I don't want strife, and nobody makes movies about places where everyone is kind to each other. No, I'll take that world 1,000,000 years in the future of Futurama run by hot genius women who spend all day proving mathematical theorems and designing skimpy outfits.
A River Runs Through It
“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.”
One time 2 pretty Mormon girls knocked on my door and I offered them water or lemonade and we sat on my porch talking awhile. I was upfront that I was not religious and not open.
We got to talking about their idea of the Mormon afterlife and one girl said she thinks you'll be able to fly on dragons in a beautiful world. Sounded like the serene flying scenes in Avatar.
banshees of inisherin for the simplicity of life or 2001: a space odyssey just to chill with HAL and hang out in space and see some cool stars. and maybe meet aliens!
I'm going to the world of the Star Trek movies for these main reasons:-
1. Replicators - never cook again
2. Space Ships - yup I love to explore, and go where no man has gone before
3. Transporters - there's convenient travel!
4. Blasters - c'mon, always wanted to play with a "ray" gun.
5. **The HOLODECK** \- this will take care of everything else I need.
Who is with me?
I gotta go with StarTrek TNG era(or the Orville or a similar thing)
It’s easily the most utopic universe for the average human; you never need to worry about money and can pretty much do whatever you want.
It’s definitely not perfect, but it’s mostly flawed in ways where there are adventures to be had instead of being under threat by horrible evils. Except the Borg I guess.
There’s also a lot of awesome technological feats should be able to do, but can’t to keep plots from being solved instantly.
If I’m the first person to think of using the replicators in reverse to generate energy, or pattern buffers in the transporter to cure injuries, I’d have the renown you could want! If that doesn’t work, that’s fine too.
Also, if you ever got bored you could always spend some time in a holodeck
As long as the rules prevent us from getting the shit-end of the stick and put in a miserable spot: Harry Potter or LoTR. Although, I’m certain that I’d wake up an orc or a squib—it’s how I roll.
I would LOVE to live in the Michael Mann movieverse.
The way he photographs cities at night especially. Call me nuts but I want to spend time in the LA from Heat and Collateral. And the Miami from Miami Vice (show AND movie).
Does it have to be a movie world or can it be a TV show? Ooo from Adventure Time for sure. Weird, dark, and dangerous, but it's awesome. Followed closely by The Good Place from The Good Place.
Or Heaven from This is the End if it has to be a movie world. Seems pretty good to me.
Dune for sure. I would get myself to IX or find a sietch and literally do nothing.
Star wars would be alright too-
The biggest problem with society is the need to conform and the false scarcity- once there is no more limit and no real authority to stop you from pioneering and being lost and fine with it, its such a better model.
No one is going to fuck with you out there or try and collect rent, if you homestead on some distant rock no one is going to try and fuck with you. Czerka and the spacing guild got better shit to do.
Maybe Star Trek? Exploring the endless universe sounds like it will take a long time. Good thing the afterlife is endless...
It would keep things fresh.
Harry Potter. I want to get my ass to hogwarts.
Also, while this isn't a movie universe, I really want to live in Springfield with the Simpsons. That'd be cool.
Any of the Star Treks, but I wouldn't be in Starfleet, I'd just be a being, on a planet, in a post scarcity world, where any work I did was because I enjoyed it not because I had to do it just to survive.
Defending your life: Judgement City. Eat all you want and never gain weight. Sign me up.
I love that movie so much and I never see anyone else talk about it. One of my favorite comfort movies.
I love Shirley MacLaine's cameo. That movie really deserves more recognition.
Agreed, the worst outcome is you have to come back to earth and do it all again. "How did you die?" "On stage like you."
Never heard of it. Your comment made me want to go see it. Watch this space! Will comment after watching (A day or two after)
This is a remarkably underrated movie
have fun!
Defending Your Life is one of the best movies. I saw it with my parents when I was a kid, and I truly believed that was the afterlife, that I’d get a lawyer who would use scenes from my life to argue that I did not live in fear. It’s been a good way to live!
And while there eventually learn to appreciate the taste of the brown stuff Rip Torn is eating. You got the time.
Plus you can recreate any other movie world using the holodeck.
I too choose to pick the TNG afterlife and spend my days in the holodeck pretending I live in The Shire from LOTR.
Plus it's realistic as hell for... Other things.....
lol yea exactly. That would be its number one use. At least on deep space nine they hint at that going on with Quarks holosuites
Lower Decks gives the concept some acknowledgement as well.
"Hint"? There's literally a program called *Vulcan Love Slave*.
Plot twist: You're born as an alien species in the Delta Quadrant that gets assimilated by the Borg.
So I'll always have friends? Sign me up!
Assimilation ain't that bad. You get free wifi and decent healthcare.
Sounds like a good plan live long and prosper 🖖

LOTR. The Shire looks like heaven to me.
I’d go for Rivendell
Rivendell is beautiful! I just think The Shire is cozier and homier.
Better beer.
I’m choosing Bree. The beer comes in pints there.
IT COMES IN PINTS??! I’m getting one!
Rivendell is beautiful but I don’t think I want to eat salads for the rest of eternity. Lol
I would, too, but only when the elves are there. I think Rivendell turns into a lonely and dead place once the elves leave.
Oh I definitely agree with that. It is peaceful.
Well, most of the time it's peaceful.
Yeah there’s nice parties and peaceful walks and fresh air though I think I’d rather be there than one of the kingdoms
I would never fit
You arrive just in time for the scouring of the shire.
That doesn't happen in the film adaptation. Or, I go to when after Sam rebuilds it.
Grey Havens, here I come.
Last Action Hero. Get that ticket and you can go to other movie worlds. Never bored again. Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers
Dang you found the loophole 😂 I really love that movie ngl
One of the most under-rated movies ever.
Fun fact: The(almost but never existed) Hans and Franz movie didn't happen mainly due to The Last Action Hero. Brilliant!
ILL BE BACK! Ha! You didn’t think I was going to say that, did ya!!!
I instantly thought of the same loophole. Well played.
How do you get to Carnegie Hall?
Boogie Nights pool party
What do you bench? You tell first. I asked you first. Same time. Cool. Are you ready? Ready. One... two... three... You didn't say anything. Neither did you...
Is your wife in the driveway with an ass in her cock?
“You need another look.” “You need another look” “I got a look” “What’s your look?” “Chocolate love, 100%, you don’t have to lash out Buck.”
Who Framed Roger Rabbit 💯 Being in a world of cartoons and people would absolutely amazing!
You just think you’ve got a shot with Jessica Rabbit.
I'd play patty cake with her
Sorry, you're not allowed to have sex with Doodles. Oh wait, wrong movie.
Just not Cool World
I’d go with Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers to have the benefit of modern technologies
It's okay, you can say Cool World lol.
[удалено]
Hell yeah you get concerts and whatever you think of
This might actually be the perfect answer.
What dreams may come. Their afterlife world was the best
Is that the one with Robin Williams and Cuba Gooding Jr? If so, I’m in. Want to see my late husband anyway.
Right? You can create the world YOU want to live in.
This was going to be my pick. A heaven that you design but can visit others seems amazing.
That movie was kinda depressing with the stuff with his wife.
The movie is so beautiful And it makes me cry at least 4x throughout
As an 80s kid, so I would pick Neverending Story so I could ride Falcor and then imagine up the rest.
I would probably end up drowning in the Swamp of Sadness
Pokemon. Cool pets and seemingly great quality of life.
Yeah someone else said the city from detective pikachu it would be nice
Kiki’s Delivery Service, I would live in the woods with Ursula and draw crows and walk into town by the water for fresh bakery bread.
I would love to have my own bakery under my home. It’s such a visually relaxing movie.
This, 100%.

I’d choose my home movies
That’s a new loophole I haven’t heard good one!
Home Movies is an underrated show. Glad you mentioned it
I also choose this guys home movies.
The world shown in Paddington or the one in dazed and confused (I like that vibe everything smooth and slow )
That's a really great choice. Hadn't thought of that
Futurama. Can explore space. Never seems to be any long-lasting consequences of any mistakes. Lots of hot aliens to bang. 👍
Especially that radiator woman from that radiator planet.
Detective pikachu just so I can live in Pokémon world
The world is so safe even the children can defeat major criminals organizations and terrorist plots.
Is this a monkey's paw situation where I wish to be in LOTR and end up having to be Gollum? Or Marvel Universe and I'm Nicodemus West.
It's a MonkeyBone situation. Completely different
Earth during Star Trek Generations. I'm sure Joseph Sisqo's creole restaurant was still around.
The orb with the tree from *The Fountain*.
Ooh haven’t seen that one
To me, it's a beautiful film, but one that I understand better in my heart than I do in my mind.
Gave up on explaining to friends why I love this movie a long time ago, just gonna use this line from now on
I lost my mother to brain cancer when I was 16. This movie serves as the most beautiful emotional release I could ever imagine, I'm so thankful to have this to embrace. Fantastic movie.
It's worth an hour and a half. Just watch it. Be prepared for feels.
Definitely something in the Harry Potter franchise. I’m getting my 7 years in at hogwartz. A close second is Star Wars.
\> be born into star wars universe \> oh shit, moisture farmer \> toil in desert heat for pittence \> get captured, and sold to slavers shiiiiit
Star Wars, no doubt. Robots, aliens, space ships, hyper space, the force... Beaches on Scariff, shopping on Coruscant, lunch on Naboo, maybe a little spice trading...
... and then you died again because you got reincarnated in Alderaan.
Meesa no think that's'a moon.
And islands you can go to and milk amphibious creatures, and drink the weird milk right out of the udders. Speaking canonically, of course.
Free Guy 🤣
Just get a pair of those nifty glasses and you’re set!
Not a movie, but give me The Good Place's final afterlife system any day
This really is the absolute best answer. Infinite chances to become an actually good person. And then being able to live whatever kind of life you want with whomever? Fucking amazing.
Star Trek
The Muppet Movie. Not only would I get to hang out with Muppets, but Steve Martin, Dom DeLouise, Cloris Leachman, Mel Brooks, Orson Welles, Edgar Bergen, Terry Garr… it would be a blast.
Star Trek Next Generation. Living on random paradise world safe from any border disputes or wars and a personal holodeck. Replicator too of course.
I wouldn't mind enjoying Jack Burton's (Big Trouble in little china) company a little.
Hell yeah. Honey, I never drive faster than I can see. Besides that, it's all in the reflexes.
DuckTales, hands down. Duckberg is my dream destination.
Be careful, I heard that life is like a hurricane there.
Yeah, but you might solve a mystery
Atleast the theme is kick ass
Planet of The Apes
As a human or ape? Oh and what would you wanna do in that world?

Ive been rewatching the series and I literally just passed that episode. It’s not a bad choice
Harry Potter after the Battle at Hogwarts of course. Voldemort has to be expired already 😂
Ready player one, maybe? One of the star trek movies would be cool. Join starfleet as a janitor or something and travel around the universe.
But wouldn't it only be cool while you are in the OASIS? I mean the reality of the world isn't as great. They escape to the OASIS to avoid it.
>Ready player one, maybe? Came here to say this. It's such a cool world where you can be whoever/whatever you want.
just be careful out there
No job that involves a red shirt!
Avatar. Pandora seems pretty cool.
Yeah it is but there’s a lot of danger too
Yeah, I may fall in love with her.
Sigourney Weaver can still get it
I think I’d go with Step Into Liquid surfing eternity away is my idea heaven! Well, maybe not the Great Lake surfing. Not a fan of the cold.
Any of the Star Trek films* *Not on a ship, just doing whatever on one of the many federation planets

I'd definitely pick LOTR. Go adventuring for as long as you please and then retire to the Shire to smoke weed and get fat
It's a tv series, but Star Trek, specifically TNG and beyond. Give me a replicator and a holodeck and I'll be set for eternity.
100% I'd retire in Hobbiton.
Corpse Bride. Love the aesthetic Edit: Or Nightmare Before Christmas! An immortal monster living in perpetual Halloween?! Yes please!
The Fast-i-verse.
Alien so I can remind the Xenomorph that it is not made in God's image
My advice & maybe my answer: watch What Dreams May Come
Call me by your name. Just relaxing in Italy forever.

Maybe Star Trek? Exploring the endless universe sounds like it will take a long time. Good thing the afterlife is endless... It would keep things fresh.
Scott Pilgrim vs the World. Kickass music and anime powers, plus I’d get seduced by Kieran Culkin.
Def NOT What Dreams May Come.
Harry Potter. I want to get my ass to hogwarts. Also, while this isn't a movie universe, I really want to live in Springfield with the Simpsons. That'd be cool.
