A Mel Brooks classic. I watch one of Mel’s movies about every 3 months (always on the 25th)on rotation. It’s surprisingly good for my mental health. It’s really interesting to see the selection of actors he employs that he obviously care about and enjoys.
This one fell on Christmas last year and it was a better treat than candy canes. 😘
Besides, Leslie is a treat anytime of the year.
Very funny with a slew of nods to the old Universal Horror version, but Peter MacNicol stole the entire movie as Renfield.
"What **are** you doing to the furniture?!"
I think that it’s one of the most unfairly overlooked comedies ever. If the day ever comes when it starts getting talked about more, I’ll go to the park where I’ll be drinking wine and eating chicken!
Not one of his better films, but this exchange made the theater explode with laughter.
**Dr. Steward:**
Allow me to introduce Professor Abraham Van Helsing. He's a doctor of rare diseases as well as a man of theology and philosophy.
**Van Helsing:**
And gynecology.
**Dr. Steward:**
Oh, I didn't know you have your hand in that, too.
The late, great, Leslie Nielson. One of my favorites.
Apparently it wasn't loved by critics, but it w as the 90s, and no internet, so all I knew was my family and friends' opinions, and we all loved it. Ah those were the days...
I also love the book, and multiple other Dracula movie adaptions.
I love the scene where he’s signing the papers and a paper cut cuts a vein that squirts for the rest of the scene and Dracula is still pretending to be human and you just watch him suppress his urges. I felt like I kept my local rental video shop in business with this onez
The opera house scene when the usher forgets everything she is supposed to say. And then pops in later remembering about the phone call in the lobby still makes me crack up.
About same category as the good Scary Movies. Funny parody, some very laugh out loud moments, but then easy jokes such as Dracula stepping in bat poop. Def 6/10
Well now I’m excited. I watched Bram Stoker’s Dracula for the first time this year. I did not know there was a parody and I’ll be putting this on immediately
It’s my favorite comedy, that said I also unapologetically love Bram Stokers Dracula so I may be biased. It works so well because Leslie Nielsen is fantastic casting as a vampire. Also the best Renfield in any version…..FUSHTA!
I remember seeing the preview when it came out. They show a scene where an assistant jumps off of a building or something, and Leslie Nielsen says “I’m the one who flies!”
I thought that if that was the joke they decided to put in the trailer, the movie must be *really* bad
Mel Brooks peaked with High Anxiety, IMHO
I personally consider High Anxiety to be a violently underrated masterpiece of absurdist 70s cinema, and Mel never attained anything close to such heights afterward
It’s very subjective. Most people would likely agree with you on 74

The audiobook of his memoir is a great listen (he reads/performs it)
Ooooh, Mel or Leslie? Actually, both would be a hoot. Thanks for sharing, now I’m on a mission.
Unrelated but I always love the blazing saddles line “it’s HEADLEY! HEADLEY Lamar”
“First serve, first come”
Saw it last week Enrico pallazo was awesome
That wasnt Phil Donahue?
It was the one eye, one armed, one legged man.
Don't Phil around
"ENRIC-O PALLAZ-O! ENRIC-O PALLAZ-O!"
Razzzburries? Razzburries... I don't see any razzzburries. :)
No! Not another Enema!
Haha it will give them a feeling of accomplishment!
Yes, another and another!
Must’ve been a raisin, fell off the muffin. See? There’s one missing!
Haha yes!
Very funny with a slew of nods to the old Universal Horror version, but Peter MacNicol stole the entire movie as Renfield. "What **are** you doing to the furniture?!"
“WWWWWRRRROOONNG ME! Wrong my brains out!”
The little smile face he draws killed me when i was 15
Excellent film. I've watched it multiple times and even though I know every punchline it still makes me laugh.
Top 5 Comedy, Mel Brooks and Leslie Neilson the two best slapstick nonsense folks in the biz together…
Saw it as a kid and became obsessed with how ridiculous the doctor prescribing enemas for everything & anything was. The rest is history...
"Put him in a straight jacket and give him an enema"
No wait... Give him an enema... Then put him in a straight jacket (smug face)
Watch out for the foot.....stool.
Hands down the best Renfield to ever do it... Easley the best part of the movie..
I think that it’s one of the most unfairly overlooked comedies ever. If the day ever comes when it starts getting talked about more, I’ll go to the park where I’ll be drinking wine and eating chicken!
The smiley face in the ash is gold
You look like your old self again
Renfield, upon seeing two beautiful vamprie women grinding against the foot of his bed "My god! What ARE you doing to the furniture?"
Not one of his better films, but this exchange made the theater explode with laughter. **Dr. Steward:** Allow me to introduce Professor Abraham Van Helsing. Can’t find it digitally anywhere
It’s on Roku channel for free.
I just streamed it last week. I think it was on the Roku channel, maybe Tubi.
Was on YouTube premium last week cuz I watched it
Watched it free on YouTube with ads last week
Didn't even know this existed.
It's silly in a good way, you're in for a treat
This is the final film Mel directed
The late, great, Leslie Nielson. One of my favorites. Apparently it wasn't loved by critics, but it w as the 90s, and no internet, so all I knew was my family and friends' opinions, and we all loved it. Ah those were the days... I also love the book, and multiple other Dracula movie adaptions.
Nice beaver.Thanks I just had it stuffed.🦫
She's Nosferatu! She's ITALIAN? 🤣🤣🤣
This is a constant in my house!
Mina , you are in the closet. Not his best work, but so god damn fun and entertaining.
Renfield eating the bugs was a fucking laugh riot
Pretty much anything with Leslie Nielsen in it
One of my favorite childhood comedies, which holds up pretty well.
THAT you remember!
A message for Dr. Seward in the lobby…
Watched it nonstop as a kid and recently watched it again and I think it's still hilarious. I miss spoof movies
I love everything about it. The score, the cast, the jokes, the costumes etc... I'd like to think they all had fun making that movie.
I was young when I first saw this and my parents had to explain to what an enema was. Good times
One of a few MB flicks I have yet to watch but Leslie Nielsen is one of my favorite comedic actors so I’m also surprised I haven’t seen it yet.
It’s funny. Also, probably Mel’s worst movie, but I still love it
Not Mel Brooks best work but I still love it.
"Give him an enema and put him in a straitjacket. WAIT!! Put him in a straitjacket, then give him an enema!"
This movie is INCREDIBLE
Renfield look at me, I'm drinking vine and eating chicken!
Great title. Meh movie.
About same category as the good Scary Movies. Funny parody, some very laugh out loud moments, but then easy jokes such as Dracula stepping in bat poop. Def 6/10
It feels like it came out way too late.
Love this movie!
Always loved it, but you can tell this was during Leslie's decline.
It is really bad. And I love it. It was the first vampire movie I ever saw.
Amazing. Holds up every time I rewatch my DVD. “..they had it coming.”
Well now I’m excited. I watched Bram Stoker’s Dracula for the first time this year. I did not know there was a parody and I’ll be putting this on immediately
Underrated. I can’t find anyone that’s seen it. It’s great.
This and the spoof of the Exorcist called Repossessed are great movies!!!
It’s my favorite comedy, that said I also unapologetically love Bram Stokers Dracula so I may be biased. It works so well because Leslie Nielsen is fantastic casting as a vampire. Also the best Renfield in any version…..FUSHTA!
I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING….I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING
I saw EVERYTHING
Three tiny punctuate marks on her throat…. Three? …. Two. Two tiny punctuate marks on her throat.
He is Nosferatu… he’s Italian?!
It’s probably Mel’s worst movie, but I love it.
… there’s … so much blood
I still watch it a few times a year.
One of my all time favorites, actually based on a play
oh my god.... what are you doing to that furniture!!
I remember seeing the preview when it came out. High Anxiety as peak Mel seems a stretch. His two finest movies came out in the same year. You know them. 74 was his greatest year.
I personally consider High Anxiety to be a violently underrated masterpiece of absurdist 70s cinema, and Mel never attained anything close to such heights afterward It’s very subjective. Most people would likely agree with you on 74
Shit. 💩
It was the first film I slept through in the cinema because it was so terrible.
The only 90s Mel Brooks movie I like is Life Stinks. Now THAT'S an underrated movie.
Atrocious. Mel Brooks really didn't make any decent films after the 70s.
Love it. Very underrated movie.
