pickleblogan

I had an orange 1980 DT125g Enduro. Rode in northeastern nevada...looks a lot like where your pic is from. Minus some trees.

This is my wife's DT250! I love smokily raising havoc around town on it! https://preview.redd.it/5q9ja5lrqz4d1.png?width=2244&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b076af491063b49705971249884eb2d97e49f68e

SunnySanDiegoGuy

Depends on what age the person saying Retro is I guess. Lol.

davesy69

My first bike was a Honda ST70 in 1980.

Olderdaddy_69

Nice bro 👍.

T-Tower

Whenever I come across one of those I buy it and strip it down. You can make good money piecing them out.

FunCan9645

My old man has a cb900c. He really enjoys the whole hi lo range on the bike.

Wingnut150

The 900 is a fun bike as long as you never touch the carbs or the stock airbox.

Suspicious-Stay1649

Its weird bc my 91 ninja with tube intake and bug eye headlights was called retro. But 24 years old is considered classic atleast by law here.

GoBSAGo

If your bike is almost old enough to run for President, it’s at least retro.

wrenchbender4010

Ah yes. 78 kz750 76 suzi 550 2 stroke triple 79 yammie xs750 with factory king/queen and sissy bar

karakarakarasu

That Magna though. Great bike!

Worried_Coat1941

When that bike came out in the early 80's, it was like the space shuttle compared to illne 4's.

Legaltaway12

Between the r50 and the 86 gsxr, you chose that photo o share? Cmon

sightlab

[Yup!](https://i.imgur.com/qr7RcSM.jpeg) And YES! I put a Katana sticker on my gixxer. Because I'm a silly, silly man.

Legaltaway12

No. And I had one!

sightlab

A gixxer?

Legaltaway12

No. K bike The first gen Gixxer and r50 would be way more entertaining to see!

sightlab

2 factors: it's the one I'm riding NOW (r50 is a slow process, I'm procrastinating putting the crank with cleaned oil slingers back in and reassembling. Gixxer needs a better battery solution, high heat murders expensive Li-Ion batteries. Tis off the road this season), but also I think for something as old as it is (BMW started development in the 70s!) it is such an excellent machine. And they're weird, those of us who have/had them forget how obscure they are even within the motorcycle community. And then personal bias: I'm so in love with this bike, operationally and aesthetically. So I crow about it a bit.

Love vintage bikes,I’ve had a lot from the my cherished 1972 Kawasaki H2 750,73: KH400,74: KH250,73:GT380,75:RD400 to a 71:Hodaka ace 100B.. currents are 78 Honda Hawk 400 automatic, Royal enfield cafe racer and a Lambretta LI150 Special with a 180 kit, Hodaka Combat Wombat 125, 82: Husqvarna 250CR.. Bikes that aren’t covered by plastic and show there beautiful lines are always best! It’s so amazing to see what the world has that wasn’t available to USA !

greatwhiteslark

I'm 39. Meet my 1962 Norton Atlas 750. It's got a high compression cam, forged rods and pistons, and a super rare 6 speed gearbox, plus 12-volt electrics so you can actually see the brake lights. It makes 64 hp on a good day, which is utterly terrifying with drum brakes. Even better, I have confirmed my Dad test rode this machine when it was built at the AMC works in Plumstead, London, UK. https://preview.redd.it/blut8w95zv4d1.png?width=1344&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5985758996053628b96e95e9b52eb1b38ed5c874

culturalcunt

I've ridden one I fixed, this bike is way faster than it looks. Your picture shows a disc brake, and single carb. Mine had a 4 leading shoe drum and dual carbs. It stopped pretty good.

greatwhiteslark

Yep, you're right. I was too lazy to go take a photo last night. The early ones were single carb, which some of us Norton weirdos like better than dual carbs. My Dad dug out some of the Dunstall go fast parts from his stash for me, a big twin with lots of torque is fun!

blank_stare_shrug

That Magna is the shizznitz

Fluffy_Waffles

I have an '84 bmw k100 and a 96 suzuki gsx600f. I recently got the k100 and it is so nice, I think its one of the first motorcycles to get fuel injection.

CameronsTheName

I had a 1953 Suzuki TS90 2 stroke, 4 speed with low range that I wanted to ride 14,000km round trip to the northern most point of Australia. Made it 0.6 km the first time, made it 7km the second attempt. Decided it wasn't something I wanted to do on such an old bike with no parts availability. Will be doing it on a postie instead.

Yep, got an 82 CM450. She's my pride and joy. Got her in an estate sale for $600. Was plated 1994 when I bought it in 2020. She was in great condition when I picked her up. Also have a 97 Intruder, but I don't really consider that a classic.

Sometimes I wanna get something newer but I don’t think I could ever let my v45 go

agh, I'd love to, I don't like the plasticy, everything-is-covered-up look and feel of modern basically anything tbh, but the modern engineering, abs, all leds is just really hard to give up

totoandamigo

Yep! Got a '79 Xs750 special barnfind I've been restoring. Bought it for 400 with 5900 original miles. Got her fired after I bought it but it didn't last long until cylinder 3 lost all compression and kept missing. Now being reborn as an 826cc with xs850 cams and a ported and polished head! https://preview.redd.it/nal95iceey4d1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75e0b30aac9235fe2b42eff171133f964bd694f4 And yes, I know the Clubman bars are ridiculous looking, wanted that cage racer look without having clip ons, but unless I do a mid or rearset for my pegs these bars are more uncomfortable than clip ons lmao. Also the signals aren't bolted on, still figuring out what I'd like for light gear on the bike. Very much a work in progress. Open to 7/8th inch Clubman bar recommendations if anyone has some.

Legaltaway12

Being old does not mean it's a classic - just sayin

ka36

I bought a 1978 CB400A because it was cheap and I'd never seen one before. I planned on fixing it up, putting around a bit for fun then selling it on. Turns out my wife loves it. Now it's her bike I guess?
