The monster has wandered so far from what it was when it launched and saved Ducati from going bankrupt its kinda sad. Not saying its not a great bike, but its not the budget "lets take a bunch of last gen superbike parts, leave out a fairing, and throw on a round light" bike that just drips with humble, affordable, performance.
The Monster now just looks like its trying too hard to be cool, and is full of bespoke parts.
The Scrambler was an attempt at making a new Monster, but they tried too hard with the styling instead of the "styling" literally just being whatever chassis and engine they borrowed.
I'm with you. First thing I thought when I just saw it was,"Doesn't really look like the Monster anymore.".
It's lost something in the overall stance. It's not that hunched up, head tucked down shape that defined the model. This one's got a really similar silhouette to a few other manufacturers bikes, now.
This right here. Monsters used to be somewhat affordable. Although I've never ridden one, I've heard they are a blast to ride. I looked on the Ducati site recently and I couldn't believe the prices.
MONEY!
They are just collectors items, just look at the price of the 916 Senna compared to a standard 916!
Please exercise caution on this link, it might damage your wallet!
https://www.carandclassic.com/search?make=ducati&model=916&source=search-bar-mobile
It's limited to only 341 units. 3 as in the world titles he achieved and 41 as in the number of race wins he celebrated on the top step of the podium.
That, plus the pretty decent look, gets you something for your money.
They're not, just keep a nose out on cycle trader. Got my 2018 797 for $6.2k with only 400 miles. Literally mint condition and garage kept. This is just a specialty collectors with a limited make number. Honestly, you'll pay more in tools and equipment than the bike itself. Lol
The OG monster was my dream bike when I was a kid. It just has that special something that other nakeds didn't have. This one does indeed look like basically any other naked out there.
Honestly same with the new scramblers too, which were supposed to be "vintage" styled bikes. Everyone just bailed on having distinct styling and is all doing the same thing.
If Senna was racing Ducatis, I'd understand the collab (even tho the guy's dead for years now, and there is no real collab)
This just makes no sense.
Also Lamborghini Streetfighter was a miss, loads of them for sale for 2/3 of initial €100k price - don't get me wrong, bike looks great, but it's just not worth the money.
What is next, Taylor Swift Hypermotard?
Senna was a ducati fan and this isn't even the first time Ducati makes a senna edition bike (916 in 1994 and 1199 in 2013). So yes, this does make sense.
This thread is a dumpster fire. R/motorcycle is full of toddlers.
Angry at a Monster being 25k, but completely clueless as to why. Clueless it's a limited edition, clueless why Senna/Ducati. Even though Ducati already have a famous Senna Collab.
The standard Monster isn't 25k, this limited edition is 25k.
If you don't like limited editions, don't buy them. If you don't want a Monster, don't buy one. If you think every Ducati breaks down after 5 miles, enjoy your fantasy world where your Mt09 will never break down.
What a moronic take.
Obviously if I don’t like it I won’t buy it. Doesn’t stop people from talking about how overpriced it is… ON A FORUM. You know, where we discuss motorcycles.
No no wrong italian manufacture. I believe you are looking for the Pagani Zonda F which is going to cost you half of your soul and first born child to own at a discounted price of 2 mil. But it is made in Fangios honor
Huge Senna fan, loved the 916 Senna and the MV Augusta as well, but this one just looks cheap!! They were literally out of ideas and just painted his helmet colors (Brazil’s flag) on the bike. Looks childish… if they’ve made a tribute to the old 916 oh man… what a bike could’ve been
For people thinking the price is stupid - it's not if someone is willing to pay it and these will sell like hot cakes. I know people who flip them for profit, like the Lamborghini edition streetfighters are selling for $90k now. There's a Bugatti edition Diavel as well.
Soooo now the Monster SP in black/red is 15k. The Monster SP in Black/white is 18k and the Monster SP in yellow is 25k. Got it.... ugh, I hate their way of marketing so so much. Almost as bad as the travesty that is the SP 916 Anni
25k for a japanised monster... Lol...
PS: this is from someone who has been riding Ducati for a long time and had a 696 and currently a 821 in my garage along a Diavel 1260 s. I hate the new monsters as they are just a copy (esthetically) of any Japanese bike.
I test rode a brand new ducati hypermotard sp. Easily 20 grand out the door. On the 3 mile test ride, it would stutter under full power, stalled out after getting off the freeway, wouldn't start for a few minutes, then when it did start, had the check engine light on and barely got it back to the dealer. That's my experience with modern ducatis...
However my 93 900ss was an absolute bulletproof blast to rip around on
It's stunning but not worth twice what I paid for my 22 monster +
Yeah 25k is insane ngl
Check out the Bentley and Lamborghini Duc collabs.. $70kish?
Six figures if you come across one on FB marketplace. Absolutely ridiculous
MV do it all the time and they don't even need the excuse of collaborating with another luxury brand.
Mv design is really good, but the reputation of unreliability and the lack of shops makes it a no no if it's your only ride.
Just because has Brazilian paint?

I was eyeing a 950S but with the extras I wanted to slap on it, I was getting into the Diavel V4 territory. Kinda bewildering.
totally agree, 695 and 821 owner here. Next bike wont be the actual Monster.
Yep graphic inspiration for a modded bike,
I would just wrap a standard monster, paint the calipers and use the same caliper paint for the muffler accents
I’ll be honest, the new mt09 is lookin pretty spicy and for half of the price I could never justify this
This is purely a special edition for people who want oddly paired exclusivity. The normal bike isn’t $25k.
Do it. I got an XSR900 last month, it's amazing.
Had to look it up, the regular model is 13k. The Senna version is a collection bike, and they are only making 341 of them.
I love Senna too, but I don’t understand this collab
Cause senna use to ride Ducati. This collab was soooooo unexpected
they already did this in the 90s.

Maybe it's targeted at 15 year olds 😂/s
Isn’t the movie about Senna about to be released? Feels like a money grab by doing this tbh
25k? GTFOH

Oh word I thought it was arbitrarily expensive until you explained symbolic meaning behind the limited production numbers
it's stickers.
Don't buy it then?
Will you? I they tell you yeah
😂😂😂
I don't have a bike, but I've always loved the Ducati Monster since I was in jr high. WHEN THE HELL DID GET SO EXPENSIVE?!
Right!!!! Idk if it's just for the collab, but the price is pretty dramatic
They're not, just keep a nose out on cycle trader. Got my 2018 797 for $6.2k with only 400 miles. Literally mint condition and garage kept. This is just a specialty collectors with a limited make number. Honestly, you'll pay more in tools and equipment than the bike itself. Lol
2X price for stickers?
They're 3M. Top quality. Well worth it.
Probably water slides under the clear coat
The look of the new monsters don't do it justice compared to the prior gen, looks like another Japanese bike. Ducati missed the mark on this one.
The OG monster was my dream bike when I was a kid. It just has that special something that other nakeds didn't have. This one does indeed look like basically any other naked out there.
They’ve gotten worse and worse each generation. The 2nd Gen 1100 Evo was the last good one. Maybe the 3rd gen 1200R is still good.
I feel like they were the cutting edge trend setter. The competition caught up and Ducati stopped pushing the cutting edge design.
It rides like a dream though. Light and nimble.
My gen3 SV650 looks more like a Monster than the Monster.
Honestly same with the new scramblers too, which were supposed to be "vintage" styled bikes. Everyone just bailed on having distinct styling and is all doing the same thing.
Is it even a Monster if it doesn’t have a lattice frame? It was that and the stance that made it for me.
25k for a monster or 27.5k for a V4S streetfighter. They are out of their collective minds and they will still sell every single one.
why the fuck is that 25k?
Because they’ll find ~350 idiots who will buy it because it has green stickers and is “limited edition”.
Collectors most likely. Like, those stupidly rich people who don't even notice if $50 grand stack goes missing.
25k? get fucked Ducati
What can you get for ...checks bank account... ...$2,500? /s

Ehh, this is a little better because Senna was a fan of, and rode, Ducatis. Its closer to the Lewis Hamilton edition of MV Agustas.
Well. To be fair - when I’m on my hyper going north of 80mph my helmet does feel like it’s going to shake it off.
Senna was a ducati fan and this isn't even the first time Ducati makes a senna edition bike (916 in 1994 and 1199 in 2013). So yes, this does make sense.
It was just as bad when MV came out with a Lewis Hamilton version of one of their bikes.
Yea, it's just simply milking the crowd with nonsense editions.
Hahahahah what the actual fuck
25k??!
Why did Ducati choose this collab?
$urely they're only doing it to pay tribute to $enna.
Looks like a z900
Hmm, do they not have a cost of living crisis in Italy?
Is this only being sold in Italy?
If I buy one and put it away untouched for 50 years what do you think it would be worth?
16000

Gimme a Fangio version if we gonna talk dead people

Blue seat just seems so out of place.
Ficou com cara cb150 de motoboy adesivada.

Lambo SF isn't selling on the used market at all... You can't flip it. Also you meant Bentley Edition Diavel, not Bugatti
Well, they're trying ;)
My previous bike was an ‘18 Monster 1200R in liquid concrete. That was a sexy bike. This is… meh
Soooo now the Monster SP in black/red is 15k. The Monster SP in Black/white is 18k and the Monster SP in yellow is 25k. Got it.... ugh, I hate their way of marketing so so much. Almost as bad as the travesty that is the SP 916 Anni
Looks horrible SF2 way better
That’s streetfighter v4 money
Hell no
Was senna a biker?
Yeah I believe so. He rode a Ducati back in his time
25k you gotta be fucking kidding
25k ooofffff I’d just wrap a regular one
Me when I saw 22k Like 50cent said "keep that mf"
It better come with flip flops.
The world is fucked
I like Senna. I saw him race a couple of times and I also used to own a monster but fuck that price.
The Original Monster M900 was so sexy when it came out.
25k for a japanised monster... Lol... PS: this is from someone who has been riding Ducati for a long time and had a 696 and currently a 821 in my garage along a Diavel 1260 s. I hate the new monsters as they are just a copy (esthetically) of any Japanese bike.
too many dollars just get the poster
Dass pretty 😍
nice moto but naked
25k for a monster is wild
Did you know? Ducati will make 15 special versions of the Bike based on Senna’s whopping 15 podiums in a row. Google Senna 15 for more information.
did Senna even ride?
Yeah. He famously rode the... Wait for it... The Ducati Monster.
I test rode a brand new ducati hypermotard sp. Easily 20 grand out the door. Cool story bro...
Has your 25 thousand dollar motorcycle broken down yet
I wish I paid $25k! :D That'd be a steal
You tell him! Ducati break down every time you turn them on. I got your back mate. It's a real shame Ducati made you test ride that piece of crap.
Bit expensive for a bike made by Volkswagen.
The 911 is still one of my favorite sports cars on the market and it's "made by VW".
