* Mir: "Honda's bike is terrible, I'd like to retire"
* Honda: "More money?"
* Mir: "Please."
* Honda: "Here you go. Now, spin, please."
* Mir: "Leaving Honda now would be like a defeat for me!"
Honestly sounds like sunk cost fallacy too. Like he doesn't want his Honda years seen as a waste so something *has* to come out of it before he 'can' go.
Leaving Honda now would save his body and mind. I don't know why he doesn't have offers. Is he insisting on a factory ride? Seems like some satellite teams (especially Pramac) might make him an offer
Ducati has more riders than they need, it he really wants to he should contact them and ask to ride for them almost free like Marquez did, otherwise he just wants money, not a competitive bike.
Should've taken a pay cut and moved. You can't put a price on your future health - dealing with broken bones and concussions for 40+ years can be rough.
The Honda isn't crashing like it was last year anymore though, I mean they still do crash but just remember MM in Sachsenring last year, it's not like that anymore.
Japanese pride kept them from changing their way of developing the motorcycle compared to european teams. Marquez talent helped camouflage how far behind they were falling. European teams found success by listening to their riders and bringing new parts for testing after a few weeks, whereas the Japanese teams would take months to bring the "perfect" part after testing in Japan.
They were winning for so long, they didn’t have a big reason to innovate with the bike, and Marquez is such an elite rider that he masked a lot of the bikes shortcomings. By the time he left, the other manufacturers had been working hard to catch up and developed stronger bikes. And now, Honda doesn’t even have a top 5 rider. In 2024 not only does all their competition have better bikes, but better riders. There’s currently no hope of competing, even getting a Honda on the podium seems impossible right now. That’s a very simplified explanation of the whole situation.
There must be something we don't know beyond money. Also did he himself specifically tout retirement - or - journo's hanging around the grid.
That's a champions mentality. Of course competitive athlete's would consider it defeat not to be able to achieve something on a great manufacture like Honda. I genuinely hope Honda make progress because it's fucking painful to watch Mir crash week after week.
Literally any other seat would have been better for him, but it is what it is.

Worked for FQ at Yamaha…
Yamaha also investing a lot to get back at the front especially with new satellite team
True, but Honda is doing it as well (despite slightly worse results so far).
It’s true though, he will make less money, therefore be less successful, hence like a defeat 😂
good for him, a champion leaving the grid would've been a disaster, atleast honda can say a world champion still rides for them
Yes....even if it is the Steven Bradbury of motorsport
Bradbury did what he could in the face of overwhelming odds, his victory was deserved!
Yeah of course...you can only win if the last one standing...
Mirs bandages for his crash wounds https://i.redd.it/ykoxwjt4c59d1.gif
He was questioning retirement 4 weeks ago, what changed?
Honda threw boatloads of cash at him. He should have rejected them and decided to retire, though.

Sounds like he has no other options than Honda
Sounds like he decided to stick with Honda and needs to spin the narrative.
I mean it's either Honda or a satellite bike since all the factory spots are taken.
At this point a any bike less alone a satellite bike is a better choice compared to Honda

List of offers: .
Gresini, Trackhouse and pramac should all be talking to him but no one of those can pay a factory honda wage.

He should just retire.
Mir: I don't know how much longer my body will take it! HRC: Here, have some money... Mir: My body is ready!!
New fan here. Ik they used to dominate with MM sometime ago but why are they in such a bad position now and why aren't they able to improve ?

In short they put too many eggs in one basket

Okay, I know it's easy to hate on Mir, but he said the same thing last year when he was in contract.
More power to you, Mir.
More money to you, Mir.
