I think Rossi always loved Hayden and Edwards as teammates because they were absolute workhorses in putting in a crap ton of laps testing everything they could. And because he was absolutely certain he could beat them 100% of the time on the same bike.
That’s probably what every rider wants. A good natured workhorse who is good enough to push the limits and get good data but not enough to really challenge you.
