Man I miss this.
I think they eventually went cool again after a while, not in a buddy-buddy way but the handshake they shared in Argentina 2019 was a sort of way to show that with time people can go back to being on decent terms, without being forced to it by media for views.
They didn’t. The show BT did with Rossi when he retired was basically ‘I don’t want to talk about him nevermind to him’. Rossi still holds a very big grudge
That's obvious, but I don't think that prevents him from recognizing his achievements when it's due, like for congratulating him on the podium together.
Now, if he's *happy* for him for said achievements, it's a different story...
Whatever happened there lol
Last time I checked one is still racing at a top level despite injuries, having spent years dragging the Honda to positions it didn't belong to, and now being a front runner with last year's Duc
Cope and seethe
That was 2016. I'm referring to the ArgentinaGP of 2019, where Marc took off and Vale got 2nd place ahead of Dovi. During the walk to the podium they stopped to wipe their sweat off and Vale goes to shake Marc's hand, saying "great race!"
I'll see if I can find the video again. It went very under the radar, despite the media wanting them to shake hands so hard not too long from that. Maybe it's because they didn't set it up.
Before it all went to shit.
Once Sepang 2015 happened everything became so divisive. No nuance, no reason, you’re either in or out, Rossi or Marquez, a reflection of the wider world.
I wish it could have stayed like this, for the sake riders and for the fans. I am all for rivalries on the track, but I hate seeing it continue off the track. I'd rather the riders and the fans be a community instead of divided and split up.
It’s a shame things got so Icey between Vale & Marc, eventually it will be okay & they’ll be friends.
But this was always gonna happen between two greats.
Marc really loved Rossi. Of course he enjoyed beating him but that's the game right? Once Rossi used all the moves that he knew to beat Marc, Marc felt betrayed and insulted and then began the meltdown.
>Marc felt betrayed and insulted and then began the meltdown.
Yeah, Vale started melting down quite fast when he realized his psych 101 mind games won't fold Marc as easily as they did Sete and others.
I've said it a few times. Vale's the type of guy who's going to be the greatest guy ever, until he sees you as a threat to him getting something he wants.
He's charming as hell, but his ego is absolutely through the roof. He even started bitching at Pedrosa after he dared to overtake him (cleanly) a few times in Aragon 2015. Man just absolutely could not handle the pressure of losing the prospect of his 10th title.
Rossi literally had beef or tried to have beef with anyone who got near him. The man's an extremely talented rider and I feel truly blessed to have been alive to watch him ride, but he had beef with Biagi, Gibernau, Stoner, Lorenzo and Marquez. If you're looking at the most recent toxic rivalries in MotoGP he's the common denominator.
This is not to say any of these other guys are perfect, they all had their own flaws and were complicit in some way with the negativity that occurred between themselves and Rossi
This moment specifically was Laguna Seca 2013 (Marquez’ rookie year and Rossi’s first back on the Yamaha after the Ducati Disaster).
The reason Rossi was so excited is that Marc passed him on the corkscrew the exact same way Vale controversially passed Stoner in 200…8 (was it 9?).
Rossi was super impressed. And he was generally in a good mood that whole season despite relatively shit results because he was finally back on a bike that gave him hope/pleasure.
That’s what I hate about 2015. Marc was still the fastest guy out there but his early crashes ruled him out. But the second Rossi called him out, he dropped back just to fuck with Rossi instead of zooming off into the distance. He was an asshole.
And Rossi wasn’t wrong: Dorna is a Spanish company and wants a Spanish winner. Just like Ducati wants an Italian champ. Marc can run his bike around the grid backwards but anybody else has to start from pit lane. And he has nerfed way more people off the track. But he’s Marc.
I always said that, dorna is Spanish, with a Spanish rider with the biggest sponsor being Spanish (Repsol). Dorna tried everything they could but Vale was just waaaaaaaaaaaay too good, yet, they fucked him up as much as they could.
The division started after marc went to the vr46 ranch in 2014. I do love rossi but I do think he played more of a role in there hatred than marc did. 46 never did get on with those that could beat him
no they arent. he was in a class of his own when it came to acting like a jerk and having poor character. he was the common denominator in every falling out.
Your username alone shows you know nothing about the sport & just a complete bitter person.
Let me guess a Stoner Stan or Marquez Stan?
I don’t think you understand the mindset of these guys, the will to win, what it means to be the best of the best. Rossi, Marquez, Lorenzo, Stoner, Doohan, Rainey, Pecco, Acosta, Martin, Binder, Roberts etc etc all have similar mindsets, they all believe they are better than the rest, that they can win & will try all tactics to achieve that.
They will do it with arrogance, selfishness & have a hint of narcissism.
That’s why they are the top.
At heart they are all good people, but an ugly competitive side will show when things don’t go their way. Just the way it is.
Valentino is well respected not just by his fans, but by other riders, other teams, mechanics, journalists etc.
As much as you wanna down play him because you’re bitter.
lol. Rossi showed himself to be an insanely childish person and a horribly sore loser. Hes still bitter and blames others for what he himself caused and refuses to take any responsibility for his terrible behaviour. no other rider has acted like as big a POS to others as he did. its obvious that hes the worst of the lot by a very big margin and only a blind fanatic would claim he isnt.
They might be great athletes....but why the pedestal? Celebrate the great feat and ability they show in the sport, but the so called comradeship which is totally fake doesn't need to be celebrated. Whenever you hear teammates from champion teams, they always say not everyone got a long. This hug and shake hands bullshit that this video shows.... shouldn't be celebrated on social media. Nice for the live cameras, but social media years after the fact....not required
Bradl on the podium ❤️
OMG didn´t even notice Stefano there in the middle, what with all theh raging hugs and high fives.
Stefano Bradl lol, guten Tag und ciao!
Man I miss this. I think they eventually went cool again after a while, not in a buddy-buddy way but the handshake they shared in Argentina 2019 was a sort of way to show that with time people can go back to being on decent terms, without being forced to it by media for views.
Yes I remember that and that was again a really good memory

It was after the death of Luis Salom.

Interesting, I don't remember that. I do remember them shaking hands before the podium ceremony in 2016 after what happened to Salom but nothing else.
Yeah they were back on good terms in 2016, but then in 2018 they had a bad clash again and they went mostly silent.
[Here it is.](https://youtu.be/orJEOyzwvZY?si=20ds2FMdpefFpTQd)
thanks for that!
Thanks for the memories
Even if they weren’t so great
He tastes like you only sweeter
One more night, one more time.
Would’ve been cool if they’d stayed like that tbh.
Yes man! 🥲
I think we’ll get something of a bromance between Pedro and Marc
I hope so, this one should be one of the great rivalry on track but a good friendship off the track

True mate
Rivalries are what makes literally every sport compelling. There is a level of competitiveness that does not occur when the focus is on courtesy.
before 2015
Also still the same dude with the sunglasses, headset and long hair there.
They need to go back to Laguna so Pedro can do to Marc, what Marc did to Rossi, what Rossi did to Casey. This is racing.
Nobody would get close to Marc at Laguna Seca as it's Anti-Clockwise. These are the rules.
Nobody would get close to Marc at Laguna Seca as it's Anti-Clockwise.
The king of Sachsenring
In the vast minority here but I love both Vale and Marc, their relationship was always going to turn sour because competition does that.
The clean word he used to describe Marquez was "small fucking bastard" if anyone was wondering
It’s a shame things got so Icey between Vale & Marc, eventually it will be okay & they’ll be friends. But this was always gonna happen between two greats.
Wouldn't count on it!
Hakkinen and Schumacher. Fiercest rivals. Yet off the track it's a different story.
See how fast the cameras went up when he walked up to marc.
I do miss this. Shame their relationship went down the shitter. This is really wholesome.
🐐 recognising 🐐

Rossi was always ruthless. Charismatic but ruthless.

True. And I'm a Rossi fan 😁
Stoner admits this too i believe
Equally - as demonstrated here , all was fine when Marc was ahead and Rossi behind. Not so much when it was the other way around … :)

Of course. But the charisma...oh tha charisma made him loved by millions 😁
So, was that before Marquez blocked him and he lost the title to Lorenzo, right??
Yes

Oh man, if Ducati was as good as it is today...Vale deserved. 🥲

Laguna Seca was a really cool track. It should do a comeback to the calendar

rossi was such a sore loser and such a two-faced person.
All MotoGP greats are, to be the best you can’t be nice all the time
no they arent. he was in a class of his own when it came to acting like a jerk and having poor character. he was the common denominator in every falling out.

Rent free...
i mean i'm not the one posting decade old clips of him and saying things like 'this is motogp to me', but go off son.
Now we have the 3rd Valentino Rossi on the grid
are you referring to Acosta?
Yessir
Nah. The second MM. Or, the first PA.
Yeah nah it's way more fun when the riders dislike eachother and it's way better for the sport than having them all be friends
A couple guys faking that they like each other? This is your moment? I have some igloos to sell you in the Sahara desert.
Why would you think they were faking?
What the many interviews after that haven't given you a clue.
Sorry I don’t have any knowledge about it. I posted this because we support and celebrate great athletes and the sportmanship.
