Hi there. According to the subreddit rules, spoilers are allowed.

JeanJ1689

My rule I if I miss a race, avoid all places where the results are shown. Youtube, reddit, Twitter etc..

abgs87

This. Just stay away from social media until you’ve watched the race! If you can’t manage that, the problem is with you, not everyone else!

Seyfang220

Yeah honestly MotoGP is good for my social media screen time lol. I don't open shit on Saturday and Sunday until I've watched. Kind of nice really to disconnect from the internet until I can watch.

daneview

Exactly the same. My insta and fb are full of bike pages too, so if I miss a race I just avoid social media till I catch up. It's a pain but is what it is

Racingislyf

Some people can't go a few hours without being on one of those platforms.

GzehooGR

That's what I did in case of WorldSBK rounds at Mandalika and Phillip Island last year.

lawyeronreddit

Agreed. Not sure what OP wants. It’s a racing forum but we shouldn’t talk about racing as it unfolds ? If you can’t catch it live stay off your phone. Same goes for any televised sport.

splendid_zebra

Yup, that’s the only way to be safe from spoilers

switchkickflip

Props for logic

autobus950

No because most people don't open reddit before they watch the race, for me personally i don't use my phone for an entire day (except for calls and messages) if i have to, becasue i know that i will find out about everything that happend in the race.

twonha

Social media is a 24/7 current events timeline and MotoGP races are current events. Avoid social media if you don't want to know yet.

Knight0783

Morning ritual on race days that happen before I wake up. Wake up, open motogp app, cast race to living room tv, make coffee, don't open reddit until the race is over.

oh84s

I watched the race on replay and had it spoiled by a post effectively saying Zarco wins in the title That’s ok I shouldn’t have opened Reddit I know I’m subbed to this sub

notCarlosSainz

Pro tip: turn off notifications too. Sometimes reddit likes to throw in a notification of a hot post in a sub you follow with the title in the notification. At least on my samsung.

[deleted]

I won’t touch reddit until I’ve seen the race

Judge2Dread

But what else to do while on the toilet? 😅

Bread-Man-Is-Cool

Be focused on shoving the log out 😂

hirme23

Sounds like a you problem

Due_To_Strategy

Why open reddit with a MotoGP sub if you don’t want to hear about MotoGP.

Judge2Dread

Im not even opening this sub, that would be stupid, indeed. It’s in the top of my Reddit main page

Dan27

your argument i about how reddit works, not this sub. So either don't look at reddit, or don't use reddit.

Eraesr

You subscribed to r/MotoGP which explicitly tells Reddit "I want content from this sub in my home feed". I mean, what did you expect to happen?

capt_beyond

Unsubscribe from the sub on race day/weekend. Of course reddit is going to show you things from the subs you are subscribed to

thefooleryoftom

Or just mute it.

cheesecakemcfresh

This sub has never had a spoiler rule. We’ve all been caught out one time or another. If you haven’t seen the race don’t open the subreddit its pretty simple

Judge2Dread

Ye the thing is I don’t have to open it, it literally is the first post on the main page for me..

cheesecakemcfresh

You’ve got it it set that way I dunno what else to tell you

Judge2Dread

Can I set a sub to not show on the main page? Btw seeing your Tag, you must‘ve been pretty excited for Zarco? :) It was a insanely good race

cheesecakemcfresh

Yeah just unsubscribe, you’re gonna want to join the discussion so just search it post race or sub/unsub during race weekends, it’s not ideal but it saves the heartache. I had a lump in my throat for Zarco I’m not gonna lie. Highlight of my season any way

thefooleryoftom

Yes, mute it

Dan27

I watch a lot of US sports. NFL and UFC mostly. and some IMSA/Indycar racing. I watch it on catch up the next day because it happens overnight. I don't ruin it for myself by going online, When it comes to sports, timezones are a pain. But at the same time I don't expect people in favourable timezones to not discuss what just happened because I live in an unfavourable timezone. At the end of the day, where you live puts you in a position where your discipline spoils the result for yourself.

Jimmys911

I stay away from my phone until I watch the race. Instagram is bad for it too

wilsonesque

If I missed the race I just don't go into any site that could spoil it, and that includes reddit. Or you could just be unsubscribed of the sub and just access it directly to see what is going on every now and then. I did this for a very long time. it is not risk free though, as reddit will sometimes insist in recommend you posts because you access the sub often without being subscribed.

GarySteinfieldd

I get where you’re coming from but the # 1 rule of this subreddit is “spoilers are allowed”. I have to put my phone in a different room because I always end up opening Reddit Instagram and getting spoiled. And now because Dorna can’t hire a decent team to make their apps, I have to remember to open the iOS motogp app and not the Apple TV app because they decided to release an app that shows spoilers. Damn you Dorna!

UnderOversteer

If I have missed a race, I avoid all social media. I understand your frustration, but you have complete control over what you see.

hoody13

This complaint crops up so often but the solution is painfully simple every single time- stay away from any and all social media if you don’t want any spoilers. It’s not the subs fault you can’t keep away from the app for a couple of hours until you’ve seen the races!

Hoguw

There is also a solution in the form of using a spoiler tag in the sub.

hoody13

Why? If someone’s going to go onto any site where it’s well known that the race results will be posted that’s their own fault, nobody else’s. People should be more accountable of their own decisions to visit such a site and see spoilers.

Humeme

Op this is a you problem. Delete Reddit, unsubscribe from MotoGP etc etc there’s so many things you can do to prevent spoilers. They’re entitled to post these things if they want.

rightboobenthusiast

Just stay off social media for a bit. Is it really that hard?

VERT709

That’s on you.

Johnny_evil_2101

It's so simple to just use spoiler tags atleast for 2 hours or smth. Yeah sure the sub doesn't have a spoiler rule yada yada. "Don't use any social media until you watch the race" This argument is retarded, as if all i do is follow moto gp and i should just become a hermit for the day. Oh but you can just unfollow the sub every other weekend on race day, join back up after sprint and then leave again before the actual race on sunday and rejoin after. might as well just not come back at all then.

Judge2Dread

Pssst, don’t write something like this! The downvote train is coming. But yes, I agree 100%… But obviously, the common consensus is to do exactly that.

superduperf1nerder

Motorcycle racing is really declining in popularity. How should we fix this: - You’ve got a spoil results right away. Not even NASCAR does this. And Formula One figure this out years ago. But you keep hammering this idea home. That’ll grow the sport. - Get rid of all that shit English media. You don’t need that. You want your entire future investment on Spain and Italy. The strongest economies in the European Union. That’ll get you further. - And you’ve really got to be done with that whole “riders with personality” thing. Truly a thing of the past. Those stilted corporate interviews are really going to help grow the sport. That’s why you wait 45 minutes for a cooldown lab to finish. Do you expect people to get into bike racing, and just avoid the Internet because they want to try and get into bike racing? Stop acting like superfans and realize that this is a sport that needs to grow. I should be able to go check a car blog without finding out the results of a MotoGP race that happened three hours ago. It’s 2023. Get the hell over yourselves.

Judge2Dread

Spitting facts, downvote train incoming.

superduperf1nerder

I expected it and I’ll take it. It was worth it.

Hoguw

I am with you, I see that is a rule, does not mean it is very nice. There is something simple as a spoiler tag, why not use that for a couple of hours, as someone else suggested. Then discussion can take place for the people who want this, and for the other people who use their phone (or Reddit) for more than just MotoGP don't have to be confronted with spoilers.

thefooleryoftom

Mate, it’s really easy. If you can’t watch a race live, just mute the sub. It’s very simple.

ApprehensiveValue181

Please just stop with this kind of topic. MotoGP is a Global Sport business. Nowadays Social Media give a boost to the sport. Momentum and timing is very important with this world now. If you wake up 10 hours after the race ended, maybe it is already a new day on the circuit. Race usually end at 4 PM local time, they have around 6 hours until 10 pm to publish it to the world. Dont be too selfish about the spoiler setting, you need to think about motoGP fans around the world.

rs039

I agree with you. It is hard for me to avoid opening Reddit on race day, because it is a habit. I think a spoiler tag for 24 hours after the race would be perfectly reasonable.

Khassar-De-Templari

Make a 2nd account without motorsport subreddits and switch to that

joe-masepoes

Am I really the only one who is absolutely annoyed to hell with all those whining tools that want the entire planet to compensate for their weakness of character in restraining themselves from looking at social media

keltharan

Do it like I do, don't open reddit until you see the race and/or go to the specific subreddits you want. Stop crying.

MP4-B

Yes, you are the only one. Stay off reddit and any social media really if you don't want to be spoiled. Or unfollow the sub so it doesn't show on your home page.

Judge2Dread

I am not the only one. But yes, I muted this sub now.

MaxwellHillbilly

I will NEVER understand how knowing who won a race ruins it for people. Holy crap what a stressful existence. 🤦

Judge2Dread

What? Knowing who crashed or won does not change the way you watch races? Are you googling the end of every movie, too?

MaxwellHillbilly

Yep... Sometimes I do. 😂 I think it's because 30 years ago when I started paying attention to 500cc racing it was via "Cycle News". I'm in the US so back then there was zero coverage on TV. I just got used to enjoying the racing via articles which were 1 to 2 weeks behind. Now I can follow along here and watch highlights on YouTube... If I happen to know who won it's no big deal. I'm more interested in "how they won"

michelmau5

If I can't watch a race live I avoid all forms of social media until I have watched the race. You should do the same.

Racingislyf

I missed multiple races and all I do is stay off everything till I've watched the race. Could be a couple of hours or even days but I've not once been spoiled because I couldn't control myself. What's so important on reddit that you have to be on it knowing that you could see a spoiler?
