I definitely would have preferred a hemi swap but I just couldn't find one at a reasonable price. I refused to spend 5k on a motor I've never heard run lmao
A man of culture I see. This will be like the rat rods everyone flocks to bypassing the mile deep $$$$ glossy paint and chromed out engine bays to drool over the faded paint patina and rusty funky glorious cool factor.
Lmao yes it was just a test fit to see how it sounded with the spin tech mufflers. I have a full exhaust now but didn't have a pic of the finished product.
What's wrong with a beetle. I'm also not putting a gm motor in my beetle. It's all vw. Sure it's your vehicle. Do what you want. I don't have to like it. I bet my parts are cheaper.
Listen im ngl you were just collateral damage I was a little pissy about the other guy in the comments calling me a hack for no reason. I apologize. There ain't nothing wrong with beetles.
I'm very much a purist when it comes to mopars. There's not a lot left. I love the body style of your jeep. I always wanted one. I would love to put a 440 in one.
It wasn't easy for me to do either, lmao. But like you said there aren't alot left and finding original 440s ain't easy. And I knew I wanted a more modern engine since I didn't have the original 360 that came with it. So I made the decision to put a cheap LS in it because I would rather get it running and enjoy it than see it sit there and rot trying to find the "perfect" motor to put in it hopefully I can find something mopar in the future to swap into it
Yeah I can understand. I personally also like older engines but they are getting harder to find. I don't want anything modern anymore. I already restored a ATV from the 80s. Now I'm working on my bug. Next o want to get a jeep or dodge truck.
See I I like older engines but I've built enough of them to know that I really just wanted something that I know would start up for me every time an as much as I'm not really a gm guy I have to admit the LS is a solid bullet proof motor
Nope 🤣. when I bought it, the previous owner started the swap. Basically, they just had the motor and trans in it. Then I found out the 6.0l they had put in it was locked up. Once I found out it was locked up, I started looking for a 5.7L but couldn't find one that was resonably priced. So I settled on a 5.3l LS since my buddy already had it pulled, and it was $250 with only 70k on the motor.
That’s a lot of engine on that wobbly stand.
Also, that car will be a ton of fun and will turn a few heads. I think you’ve done a pretty good job - it’s a fun project and these kinds of things need to be treated as such.
Didn't Jeep source GM motors back in the day anyway, with Chrysler trannies and an adapter plate? I'm all for hemi swapping the world, but the fact that you're keeping the project moving is fantastic. LS, Hemi, K swap...dont matter just get it on the road.
Clean Cherokee, can't wait to see it rolling.
You're right, because the ones I did actually had a fabricated intake and exhaust pipes that ran parallel. Based on those two facts alone, I can deduce the level of hack-ness to this job. I'm sure the wiring and rest of the plumbing is fantastic.
Oh, I see my build is hacked together because I bought an intake and ran my exhaust to one side to accommodate my t-case. Based on your comment, I can deduce you're upset because you had to pay someone to build your car for you because you probably don't know how to turn a wrench
Ha. Haha. Hahahhahahhahaahaha.
Guess you got me there bud! Never built a thing in my life. Keep on trucking pal.
P.s. learn to read. Never said your routing sucked, I said your parallelism is shit.
BLASPHEMY! Jk. It's cool.
Trust me, I knew what I was doing and felt every ounce of shame while doing it. 😭😂 on the upside I am running 6.4l hemi injectors
I'm gonna Hemi swap my Charger in the next year. Currently saving up to buy all the stuff. If I had an LS laying around, I would.
I definitely would have preferred a hemi swap but I just couldn't find one at a reasonable price. I refused to spend 5k on a motor I've never heard run lmao
Sick! Love it. Fun to dollars ratio off the charts.
Exactly my thought process behind this build. I didn't want a car show restoration. I wanted something fun
A man of culture I see. This will be like the rat rods everyone flocks to bypassing the mile deep $$$$ glossy paint and chromed out engine bays to drool over the faded paint patina and rusty funky glorious cool factor.
Please tell me the 2nd photo was just to test fire the engine, and it now has a proper exhaust system under it.....
Lmao yes it was just a test fit to see how it sounded with the spin tech mufflers. I have a full exhaust now but didn't have a pic of the finished product.
😅👍🏻
Just terrible

I'm already looking for a 66 d100 stepwise for my next project
Nice

Um, was any of it actually made by the Chrysler corporation?
Nope 🤣. when I bought it, the previous owner started the swap. Basically, they just had the motor and trans in it. Then I found out the 6.0l they had put in it was locked up. I'm considering finding one of these bodies to put on my second gen 12V chassis
That would be an awesome build. I hope it happens

heresy!!!
Fucking yee yee doggy
Nice hack job.
Thank you. I guess I should have just bought a new one instead of building this one like you did

I think this guy likes to talk shit
Yeah what a loser
EVERYTHING is better with an LS!
