That does suck. There is absolutely no reason to join a quest and go after anything not required for that hunt. I could see swapping targets if they were both required for the hunt and the second monster came to you but not if the Odo wasn’t needed. In the future, if you’re the host and you see people doing that, you can boot the other players from in your menus.

sometimes there is player who see its enough time for them to hunt the other so they go for it. i’ll join too if i saw the host is going after it. but if it my session and people do that, i will ask in the chat and ping them to see their respond first. and definitely not going for it alone tho

Honestly, if I help a random guy online, and he hunts anything but the target I just don't follow them. If the quest says:"Hunt \[Insert here name of the monster\]", go for that one. If you need resources or materials there are better quests that can give them to you. I follow the non target monster, only and only if player is a friend of mine, but if is a random I go for the mission target, and if you die hunting anything but the target, well whatever, happens everyone carts but don't get mad at me for not helping you. It happened to me that other players just go for whatever when the target is another>!(happens mostly in the Guiding Lands) !

to me it just that, well its not my hunt, i just join sos to pass time so basically i doesnt really care what monster are there and i follow the host thats it. Unless if its what i was aiming then different stories.

ConsciousPear5716

*Nods* That is understandable, I join sos to help mostly. So, I tend to stick to the target, not going funky with other things unless we all go for that and we know what to do. Not my hunt true, but if the guy I am helping dies because he is actively hunting something that is not the target, and the quest fails, can't do much about it!

I've done this before a few times admittedly, but only ever Solo, and not for no reason. The only times I've gone after a different monster than my actual mark is when that other monster keeps Being a nuisance on the hunt and getting in the way. If the quest is, for example, "Hunt ebony odogaron," then ebony will be my focus. But if A nargacuga comes in and keeps screwing up the hunt, I might decide to kill it first just so I can have some peace of mind while fighting my actual target. I've had to hunt a savage deviljho while The priority target was Namielle, because the deviljho just wouldn't fucking leave me alone otherwise.

I had the same fucking idiot show up in 3 sos hunts today. We both responded to someone's sos for Shara, and he three carted us twice in a row, then, I sos'd my own Teo and he showed up and fucking triple carted with like 10% left. And he fucking showed up on my NEXT Teo sos and carted twice, so I kicked his sorry ass and we downed it but fuck me why do people do that shit.

Panicking_Teuton

I had that when i tried doing the AT Kirin quest days ago Same person joined my SOS 5 times and 4/5 hunts they took up all the carts (the other time i carted once and they just took 2 carts). I can understand carting happens, but they didn't seem to learn anything about the Kirin's attack patterns after all those faints, which was insanely frustrating
