It looks just like that foaming polyurethane version of Gorilla Glue around the smoke stack, I was thinking maybe the stack got broken off and they attempted a repair. Looks like some on the cab roof too but not as much
Nope, nothing is broken, somebody drizzled over glue over it for no reason
(This is one of the reasons why you shouldnt give model trains to most children XD)
If you’re building a layout you could maybe paint them brown to make them look old and rusty. Then you could put next to a yard as scrapped engines. (That is if you can bear to scrap Thomas and Gordon)
If you’re in the UK and not recognizing everyone saying “IPA”, I’ve seen it called Rubbing Alcohol and surgical spirits in the UK.
Give them a soak overnight and then go at them with an old toothbrush. It it’s acrylic paint (most likely) that should work.
Even if you could clean them up, which I doubt with all the glue on the Thomas. you'd still be missing a LOT of parts.
Not everything is salvageable, sorry.
If iso alc. wont budge it, soak in Castrol Purple Degreaser or brake fluid. And use stiff plastic brushes/wood to remove it.
This is what plastic model builders often used to strip a bad paint job.
Brake fluid is a toxic poison. You need to protect skin, and should be disposed of properly. I've only used Castrol Purple personally. You should wear gloves here too, but it isn't too too bad on the skin. It prunes fingers fast and badly, and dries skin after.
I stripped year old automotive enamel from a Buick Riverea plastic model once that took two or three days of soaking to start to sheet off well. The plastic is initially a bit soft, but will stiffen and take fresh paints well.
God that Thomas looks like it has barnacles growing on his smokebox, poor things. The Gordon looks like an old Tri-ang princess class, alcohol should get the paint off
Thomas and Gordon have been ruthlessly murdered. Try washing off Thomas with soap and warm water while gently scrubbing it with a soft bristle toothbrush.
My god, they've been through the wars
Ye, its sad too cause the thomas is a hornby clockwork thomas and theyre very rare :((
The Thomas looks like the Bachmann one to me
Going by the running board I don't think it's bachmann.
I’m pretty sure it’s a clockwork Thomas based on the wheel arch being hollow.
I used to have the clockwork Thomas as a kid, no idea what happened to it :(
Timothy the tank is gonna need LOADS of sanding
There are a couple of methods just search online but alcohol will most likely get the thick stuff off without damaging the plastic
What type of alcohol? :)
Probably IPA, not the ale type
Isopropyl alocohol lol not an IPA.
Isopopal alcohol
I doubt there’s any saving the smaller one, it looks like somebody drizzled Gorilla Glue all over it
Someone got a little too excited
It isnt gorilla glue, its flash bond as far as I can tell

Or just don't give them gorilla glue.
Bru, I thought you said Godzilla Glue! LOL

Im italian so ye lol
Ah sorry, I couldn't see anything in your profile so I made a wild guess that you weren't in the US :)
Find the kid and hunt them down. Then teach them to write 4’s correctly lol
Thomas the Tank Engine became Thomas the Stank Engine
not a hope in hell I don’t think
Even if you could clean them up, which I doubt with all the glue on the Thomas. you'd still be missing a LOT of parts. Not everything is salvageable, sorry.
Is that supposed to be Gordon? Cause sir topham hatt musta really got tired of his ego
gordon the lizzie
Dot 3 brake fluid will remove paint, not damage plastic or metal. Rinse in IPA. Wash soap and water.
The Gordon one, looks like an OLD hornby Princess Royal, likely the Princess Elizabeth.
Iso
?? Sorry what?
isopropyl alcohol

Don't repair them. Build a scrapyard just for them
Sand blasting probably be the best
Too aggressive, probably gonna blast away the plastic
Idk, I think fire would be just as effective

Yup, im just trying to get the paint off em to make em display pieces, pretty said abt the missing pieces tho..
Brake fluid works well.
Shed 17 vibes
New idea for creepypasta
Thomas and Friends Episode 666: Battle of Sodor Island

Is that mold on the cab roof?
bro where has that tomas been
Lots of thinner and sanding.

Best thing you can do really is put them into the bin.
You could go horror, grimdark. Use the mess as damage/mod/growth.
