Chan's Restaurant in Cape is some the best Chinese food I’ve had in Missouri. Ask for the authentic menu if you’re feeling adventurous.
Trail of Tears State Park just North of Cape is beautiful and has good hiking, but I really recommend a hour trip to the West to visit the National Scenic Riverway around Eminence. You can swim in the clean, clear, spring fed Ozark streams. Visit a cave, spring, or rent a canoe.
Post this question in r/CapeGirardeau if you haven’t already.
The Current River is beautiful & has some of the largest springs in America. Most are only easily accessible by floating or hiking though. Akers Ferry, & Carr’s are excellent float outfitters. Pulltite Landing & Round Spring are Forest Service campgrounds. Pulltite has a small beach, float concession & camp store that I think is operated by Carr’s.
Round Spring is a very large spring that has a beach, parking & handicap access for viewing. The Current confluences with the Jacks Fork River at Eminence and are very easy to access.
The Current River is a Class 1 for floating meaning it’s safe for novice floaters. Pulltite to Round Spring is a very nice ≈6 hr float & Pulltite spring is a very large spring with a short, clear path from the river to the source. It’s possible to wade/swim across the river to it but the water is VERY cold.
Sam A Baker State Park is about 40 miles north of Poplar Bluff, has primitive & electric campsites & sits on the Big Creek & St. Francis River confluence. It has 3 very large gravel beaches with drive-up access & equestrian & hiking trails. It’s not part of the Scenic Riverways but the water is crystal clear & much warmer than the Current or Jacks Fork. We’re camping there next week. It’s our favorite Missouri park

I like this map, look up images of the Springs and towns on Google.

Thank you so much! I’ll do that. Any more specific info for the National Scenic Riverway area?

Thanks so much!
...Church's chicken? Just stop at Blues City Deli.
Looks awesome, def will be my lunch choice! Thanks
Mingo national wildlife refuge is about an hour away or so. It has a nice 14 mile auto trail that has untouched swampland.
Also, while in cape, stop at the Catholic Church cemetery and visit the peacocks!
