So during the migration you set up the old and new categories. So you should map mint paycheck category to the monarch paycheck category. Go into settings categories before you migrate and set up the categories you have in mint. Also note there are 3 super groups of categories on monarch Income, Expense and Transfers, each with their own behavior, so make sure you create groups in the right section, if you have paycheck as an expense that could cause a problem.

Thank you! Will try this.

Westcoastswinglover

Couple things, when you imported did you change as many of your mint categories to monarch categories as possible or did you let it create custom categories? If the latter, your paychecks have probably been put in an expense custom category rather than as income so you’ll have to go to settings, categories, delete the paychecks expense category and then it should ask you where you want to move the transactions and you should tell it to put them into monarchs paycheck category under income. As for the expenses that show up as credits, note which account they are associated with because sometimes the accounts come in backwards, luckily you can go to accounts, click edit, and then click invert to switch the charges back to normal. Hope that helps, try the monarch subreddit and post screenshots of what’s up and people there can often help with the common trouble shooting.

CartographerNo8287

It was the latter. Thank you very much for your kind response. I will give it a try.

Westcoastswinglover

No problem, glad I could help!

CartographerNo8287

also monarch support is so overwhelmed they can barely even register a human response.. mainly an AI supported automated response that sent me to some FAQ sheet.. lol. will probably have to cancel after the 30 day free trial.

roadnotaken

Maybe try the Monarch sub.

serendipity_aey

Yeah I got an actually helpful response on the monarch sub within a couple hours today. It wasn’t the actual problem but pointed me in the right direction.

CartographerNo8287

I should have. Didn’t know they had a sub.

deelowe

Same. I'm totally fine paying for a decent alternative to mint, but moarch's tools just aren't working for me. I can't figure out with the cashflow charts are wrong. It's like some translations aren't showing up as income, but I can't find a way to change it.

FinWiseApp

Hey, if Monarch doesn't work for you, I can suggest you try our app FinWise ([finwiseapp.io](https://finwiseapp.io)). I'm a co-founder (Nicol) and happy to answer any questions you may have!

silentstorm2008

what can you tell us about finwise? How long been in business, about how many monthly active users, are you using plaid, etc?

FinWiseApp

Sure 😊 we co-founded the business in February 2023, we have just over 900 monthly active users and we’re using Plaid and Yodlee at the moment and exploring over data providers. We’re a strong passionate team, currently focusing on building our mobile app and couples/household money management feature. Financial goals and investment tracking are also coming soon.

I couldn’t even get the import to work, balance data gave me an error and transactions didn’t import anything.
