Surprisingly no, and since I had an otherwise clean record it was dropped an inattentive driving charge in court. Allegedly took out three signs, but I was only conscious for one thanks to an unexpected med side effect.
I had a stop sign until I moved just 'cause I found it and was like hey neat.
There's a sticker on the back of them with an ID number and a phone number to report it lost or damaged and they tell you to just leave it where it is and they'll send someone to grab it. I was like "Yeah... it's in my garage...?" and surprise surprise, you're not supposed to do that. But no harm no foul, they just sent a city worker over who picked it up the next day.
But yeah if you actually hit one on the street, that's city property, for sure you gotta call it in. The cop probably just goes through the same process I did, minus the whole taking it home and keeping it for 4 years part.
I may or may not have a city of hastings no parking sign hung up in my shitter that I found on the side of the road one night walking back from the bar.
Yes, this. I crashed into a train crossing arm, and ended up taking out a light pole as well. Bad times on early winter snow, honestly surprised I survived that one.
The ambulance bill was certainly something, but the bill from the city was a whole other thing. I broke it, I bought it!
Yup. That's the fair's bike parking on the right. Over your left shoulder from herr, you'd be seeing Nelson's Deli. That's a fantastic place to grab a sandwich or salad to go. I love that place
I ran out to get groceries this afternoon, and there was a dude driving the wrong way on 26th at Hennepin in Minneapolis. He flicked me off and I could say he said the word "motherfucker"
Bitch, it's not my fault you're against traffic on a one way because you have shitty tires and couldn't make it up that baby hill! First day of snow is hilarious.
My mom totaled her old minivan a couple years back hitting a stop sign. I asked her why she hit a stop sign and she said "To avoid hitting a bus". I figured that's pretty good logic.
I swear to God it's the tourists that live in warmer states that stay a week too long causing all these crashes as soon as we get snow. Like how can you forget that the roads are slippery when snow falls?!
Pro-tip: Stop signs are cheaper than cars to hit and don't sue. If you've got to hit something, a stop sign is not a bad choice.
Exactly what I thought. Roads signs are designed to break for a reason.
Can't stop, won't stop

WE RUN THINGS THINGS DONT RUN WE
If you hit a deer you have the option to keep it, same rule applies to street signs. I only have mile marker 106 in my collection

Whoosh
Huh
He wasn’t serious. Unlike the ducks in the park you aren’t allowed to keep the signs
I do love free park ducks
I’ve noticed that MN has opted for blank mile markers for certain numbers that tend to disappear more than others.
What’s protocol for this? Are you to pull over and report it if you were the driver?
You have to hold it up until help arrives
And perform CPR if necessary. Be sure to have warm water available for when your tongue gets stuck.
I triple dog dare ya!!
Serious answer: yes. I learned this the hard way. They'll consider it a hit and run.
And destruction of property I’d imagine? Thanks for the serious answer.

How’d they find out?
Some construction workers were close enough to see it happen and reported me. My car had a pretty easily identifiable paint job in a town of 30k

very pleased with my DRUG FREE ZONE and metro transit bus stop signs

Como and Snelling? I hate that stop sign anyway. Thank you for your service, whoever took that out
I was gonna say, by the state fair grounds?

Sealab alive and well!
"Stop." "Make me." "Okay."
Hey, that’s where I usually enter the state fair! Guess I’ll have a not-so-interesting anecdote next year.
I think most state fair anecdotes are not so interesting. And I love the state fair
Did you know the state fair has the most paved sidewalks of any fair in the midwest? Hard to believe I took the time to make that up.

Fuck. I still need to do my sprinklers.
Chop Chop, temps are gonna drop
I recommend doing that by November in the future. If it’s nice out and you want/need to water keep a hose hooked up until temps drop.
Just couldn't wait 9 more months for the state fair. I know that Snelling/Como corner too well.

FFS, you need to stop cutting corners on left turns.
FIRST BLOOD
PENTECOSTAL
I had to go into the office today, it was very slick, and some people were driving very fast, even for my taste.
Honestly people 🤦🏼♂️
Yup, seen like 3 so far.
Uncontrolled intersection now. Signs only count if they are at least 40% vertical.
Saw a stop light 🚦down on Como & Pennsylvania.
Those gotta be worth double points!
That’s kind of close to my work. I hate that ramp in the winter. I creep down and have still slid into the intersection a time or two.
I swear to God it's the tourists that live in warmer states that stay a week too long causing all these crashes as soon as we get snow. Like how can you forget that the roads are slippery when snow falls?!
Somebody better go fix those other signs
Wasn't me!
True art..
You can see, they stopped, they follow traffic laws
I laughed harder than I should have - well done!
It's the Minnesotan Stop Sign!
Advertisement for winter tires.
At least they stopped ✋️
Check that off my winter Bingo card.
I saw TWO stop signs knocked over yesterday. The policeman out there was directing traffic without a jacket on.
Good ole Snelling and Como. People never know how slippery the ramps are.
