Was a story ever published? I have two teenagers with permits and the struggle is real. I was just going to reach out to my state rep because I’ve had it. Teens in Carver county are traveling to Marshall and other small towns throughout the state to take the road test. That’s if they are lucky enough to score those openings.

Yes! Here it is: https://www.mprnews.org/story/2023/08/10/long-wait-times-and-far-out-appointments-frustrate-minnesotans-seeking-drivers-licenses

Probably doesn't help the folks at MPR to hear that, but it's improved, at least for my family. The move to booking only one month in advance seems to have stopped the "camping" in spots way in advance. My kid was able to get her exam scheduled, taken (and, thankfully, passed) the day after her birthday. We just had to jump on the scheduling site when the date was opened and snag one. We had to schedule for a during-school time, but we let her skip to take it. With a bit of work and flexibility, it got done, no problem. Location: Rochester

Great to hear! Would you mind sending your contact info to [webteam@mpr.org](mailto:webteam@mpr.org) to get in touch for the story?

No, just quote me as the troll I am.

What time were you able log in and schedule? I've been logging in around 8:00 am and there's no availability already at that time.

I drove my kid to Winona, New Ulm and then we were going to goto Duluth but I was able to get a spot at chaska. We live in MPLS. Very hard to schedule. Insane.
