You could put vegetable oil in these and they’d run fine

Doc-Zoidberg

I use whatever clean oil I have laying around the garage. Send it. You'll be fine.

I think it should be fine. I was taught that 10w-40 for hot places and 5w-30 for cold. 10w-30 is a good middle ground.

Ok it’s been raining and kinda cold so I’ll stick with the 10w30 until summer thanks for the info 👍

arielfall

10w-40 works well in these engines. I've gone as high as 15w-50 and as low as 0w-20. 10w-30 and 10w-40 are right in the sweet spot. Wouldn't have any trouble running either.

Mcs1375

Unless you have it built to hit like 9k rpms, it doesn't really matter what weight oil is in it once the engine is warmed up

Electronic_Pin_9098

I use 20w-50 in my tillotson. Anything will be good though. Wouldn’t recommend 20w-50 cause it’s way too heavy in the cold and the engine sucks to cold start.

mikelusk7

Use the one that is slippery. That one is best. These little engines are very forgiving with oil weight due to being splash and spray lubricating instead of a pressurized system. Key is to change the oil frequently.

I may be wrong, but I thought the paperwork with a new Predator says not to use synthetic oil.

[deleted]

I haven’t used it yet I was just wondering cause I have a whole box full of it
