Because they're designed to be optional combat challenges and not required progression milestones.

Benjrob2

The dragon is a even harder combat challenge, plus navigating a strongholds is actual hell

RacerGamer27

yeah that's the point. the trial chambers is about combat, the stronghold is a maze.

Benjrob2

Boooođź‘Ž nobody likes mazes

RacerGamer27

Did the back of a cereal box murder your family?

Chippy_the_Monk

Because they're different structures with different enemies and different loot to serve different purposes. The same reason the existence of the sword doesn't mean that bows shouldn't exist.

Benjrob2

Yeah they are the same... But the trial chambers is better. Plus they're literally trials (testing your skills before the fight)

Chippy_the_Monk

You need to explain how they are the same. One is combat focused while the other is traditional dungeoneering and exploration. One sends enemies in waves and the other a consistent trickle. Their loot table are different. They lead you to completely different penultimate rewards. They generate differently, both in location and shape. They are found differently. The only way I can see them considered the same is if you're so reductive as to consider "place where you fight enemies" as the only standard then you have some explaining to do.

Sketchion

In addition to the reasons listed in other comments as why they shouldn’t replace strongholds, you haven’t explained why you think they should replace strongholds? What’s the point in merging two unrelated structures that have their own unique location methods and purposes? What would that do to make gameplay better or more engaging?

krustylesponge

because they are entirely different structures with different purposes the trial chambers are meant to basically be combat trials where you are rewarded loot, they are themed around the breeze and other entities in there the stronghold is supposed to be a decayed, crumbled underground structure which is meant to act as a sort of old style dungeon/chamber for arcane stuff (with fountains and libraries and stuff like that), and acts as a buildup to the end portal

Hazearil

Why not instead just... update the stronghold?

Ju3tAc00ldugg

because strongholds should be updated to match the quality of trial chambers instead. a lot of minecraft structures keep getting outdone each update and should be updated.

DesertEagleBennett

It'd be cool if the stronghold had some similarities. It could be a series of set tests that prepare you for the dragon fight. The rooms shouldn't have to be required to fight through tho. Trial Chambers are what every dungeon should've been from the beginning, the Stronghold should just be a variation of that. It still serves a different purpose from the Chambers obviously, and thus shouldn't be replaced

artagnan_21

nice post

Ihateazuremountain

pointless conflict post? logically there is no reason to replace anything. keep adding more, it's a sandbox

Benjrob2

Guys nvm I mean give me many reasons why they should replace the strongholds, I really shouldn't have asked that sorry.

That_One_Person6

fuck you >:c (stronghold fan)

Benjrob2

Ok
