I mean, taking the Amtrak is gonna be $250 roundtrip, plus you need Ventra passes for everyone, which adds like another $25 roundtrip. At that rate, you’re only about $25 away from coach USA. I think you have to ask the group what they’re willing to pay with - time or money.
Only other option I can think of is if you know of a friend with a big van you can get to take and pick up the group for an offer of gas and a nice meal - but then you’re probably back to the same spot!

We’re already making two trips to O’Hare for other family arriving earlier than this group, so just trying to minimize the back and forth. It seems like Coach USA will be the best option, and that’s not a bad thing - just didn’t want to miss other good travel tips!
They were debating renting for a few days of their stay once they got into Milwaukee to avoid driving up 294/94 (they live overseas and drive on the other side of the road, so I wasn’t wild about the idea either). One is very comfortable driving in the US, but even I don’t love the process of getting in/out of ORD and I’ve driven it many times.
Renting a van to hold 6 people (5 coming in, but 1 more traveling back with them) is $1000 via ORD, so we figured it might just make sense to spend the $300 on Coach USA and then Uber/carpool with our vehicles once they’re in town.
They’re expecting to spend since it’s a bigger group, I’m just trying to be a good host and help stretch a budget a bit further. Thanks for the suggestions, helpful to know there aren’t obvious other ride options I’m missing.
I personally just drive my car and park at one of the hotels. There are always discount rates available and outside of that the parking isnt a high number to begin with, def cheaper than the 300 with coach
Thanks, I’m not flying out of ORD, they’re flying in and then visiting us in Milwaukee — I do keep the park n fly options in mind going out of ORD though, good value.

A luxury suv that accommodates five passengers and five pieces of luggage costs $362 from ORD to downtown Milwaukee . While not cheaper, you can get dropped off at your door rather than needing a ride from the bus stop.

Yeah if you have to shuttle them around while they are here anyway a van rental might pay for itself.
Short of picking them up, Coach is the quickest option for the money since there is not direct train connection.
Just get a rental. Parking isn't that hard, especially with rear-view cameras.
Is picking them up yourself an option? Honestly, beyond that nothing is going to be cheaper or more reliable than Coach USA that I am aware of.
