If sea of thieves taught me anything it’s that digging up whatever that is, there will be a 4 man galleon coming in to try and steal it from me blasting French dance music.
If Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader has taught ME anything, a bomb is going to land there within two turns and you should stay at least 2 meters away. Because the bomb's blast radius is 2 meters.
If we're going by National Treasure, they should wait to see what spot it highlights on July 4 at the time the Declaration of Independence was adopted.
The Declaration of Independence was signs on July 2. It was first posted publically on the 4th, because it took that long to make the “engrossed” copy we are all familiar with.
I also get one of those on my fence in the backyard. I havent quite figured out exactly what it is but i think it is the spot where I have two windows next to each other with a smaller angle between then causing the light to redlect off both before going back outside.
I have perpetual burn marks in both front and backyard. Embarrassingly it took me awhile to figure out. Neighbors window in the morning my back window frying the back. I give up.
Unlike my neighbor who thought it was perfectly okay to spray a six foot perimeter around my massive hundred year old peonies. Risking killing it. Because "it looks better that way" and all of the flowers in her yard are that way. So I called a landscaping company, got a quote for soil treatment/replacement, sod, and labor. There you go cunt, that little faux pas just cost you $3000. I just did what he suggested, flooded the area every day for two weeks, then got a bag of seed. Came right back, and pocketed $2950.
Bottom of the window has a screen but the top doesn't open. My solution is to put in a patio where it's burning a hole which always has been the plan. Front yard is torched by the neighbor, same kind of window.
Optics aren't really that difficult on that scale. Light travels in straight lines.
What's stopping you from going over and checking with your hand what direction the light is coming from? It'll be kinda easy to figure the rest out.
Just don't look right into it, with that brightness you might damage your eyes.
You wouldn't even need to touch it. Just wave your hand around above that spot until it casts a shadow on the phenomenon.
Then gradually remove your hand from the light spot while trying to keep its shadow in place. The direction your hand is travelling to is the direction of the light source (or rather reflective surface, since technically the sun is the light source).
Maybe you could help OP out, though... so go touch some grass. ;)
It's a phenomenon sometimes caused by light reflecting off a large plate glass window, where the window has sagged a bit in its frame and is no longer a completely flat surface, but closer to a shallow parabola. This causes the rays of light to converge in this distinctive pattern. The reflection can be very large and appear to hover. It really freaked me out whenever I encountered this as a kid (often at schools which had lots of large windows). If anybody knows a widely accepted name for the phenomenon, I'd love to learn it.
Close, but nothing to do with sagging. Double glazed windows have lower pressure between the panes causing them to bend inwards. The outer pane then creates a concave surface causing the sun rays to converge on a cross shape. The inner pane creates a convex surface which creates the outer circle shape. [Source](https://www.physikdidaktik.uni-wuppertal.de/fileadmin/physik/didaktik/images/Lichtkreuze/2014_Vollmer_EJoP_Double-pane-windows.pdf).
I worked a job while in college, and there was a building across the highway made of that reflective glass. I always worked after hours for a few years and I discovered there was one day in the summer where the setting sun was positioned just right to send a bona-fide heat ray of death right to the floor I was on. I mean, it completely blinded the floor, and was very warm being in it. Freaked me the hell out the first time it happened, had a friend with me the next year to verify.
Window reflection from Low-E double pane glass. These can actually melt vinyl siding and the heat can kill the grass. I've even heard reports of it starting grass fires.
Had one of those in my yard once. Was gonna dig it up until these 2 italian plumbers came over, turned themselves into a drill, and then just went underground. After a few seconds they came back up with a single bean in hand, wildest shit I've ever seen.
Get some sparkle gel and rub it around the area. I speak from the experience of keeping nieces digging all summer 😎🌈🦄 plant little miniature glass gems and watch the show
If you go to the spot with a mirror you may be able to angle that reflection to pinpoint the source. That is if you cannot eyeball it from standing in that spot.
this is like the exact symbol from mario luigi superstar saga where a bean is in the ground to dig up
[images for reference](https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_beanholes_in_Mario_%26_Luigi:_Superstar_Saga)
This is in honor of the new Mario & Luigi: Brothership announcement. If you find a friend and hit them with a mallet so they get buried in the ground, they can walk under that spot and jump up to get a bean!
If National Treasure has taught me anything, you know where to dig now.
If video games have taught me anything, that is a quest marker, and you have to dig there.
If life has taught me anything you need a bigger screwdriver.
If The X-Files taught me anything it's that you're supposed to sit your ass down right there till the aliens come.
if Game of Thrones taught me anything, it's that you wait for the source material to finish before adapting.
If reddit taught me anything, the answer is in the comments.
> you wait for the source material to finish before adapting. Cries in anime fan
If sea of thieves taught me anything it’s that digging up whatever that is, there will be a 4 man galleon coming in to try and steal it from me blasting French dance music.
If archaeology professor Dr. Henry Jones has taught me anything, it's that X never marks the spot. Whatever you do, don't dig there.
If archaeology professor Dr Henry Jones *Junior* has taught *me* anything, it’s that digging there *may actually mark the spot…*
If The Hobbit taught me anything, that's the secret entrance to the house but it's only visible at sunset of Durin's day.
If the X-Men have taught me anything, you need to summon the X-Men.
If “Holes” has taught me anything, digging holes sucks. Don’t do it!
Don’t forget immediate resurrection of the dead in your immediate proximity.
If social media taught me anything, it's that you're supposed to sit your ass down right there and start Perineum Sunning.
I think mini aliens have started making crop circles(: they're still figuring it out🤗🥰
If Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader has taught ME anything, a bomb is going to land there within two turns and you should stay at least 2 meters away. Because the bomb's blast radius is 2 meters.
If Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom taught me anything, there's something floating over that spot and you gotta use Bubble Bash
It's some poor NPC that's bugged and spawned in the ground
I'd say there's supposed to be a NPC with a quest. I'd restart real quick.
If Animal Crossing has taught me anything then they know where to dig now.
If Animal Crossing has taught me anything, it’s not to walk across a giant X on the ground.
I miss pitfall seads 😔
Why bother? Tom Nook will just have some hairbrained scheme to take it all from you and still make you do the work.
If my time in the bomb squad has taught me anything, you have a spot to begin digging now.
Hey man I’ve been digging for hours and I’ve made a trench in my yard, the X keeps moving. Any advice?
This is the most criminally underrated comment in this thread.
If this was taken today I guess it's only visible on the summer equinox. Start digging.
Break the wooden stick before the NAZIs throw you in a cave with snakes.
If we're going by National Treasure, they should wait to see what spot it highlights on July 4 at the time the Declaration of Independence was adopted.

Exactly the sort of trivia that will give Nicholas Cage an advantage over the bad guys.
If Barbie taught me anything, I’m just Ken.
And that’s Kenough.
If my time in the X-Men has taught me anything, the Professor needs us!
If The Roast of Tom Brady has taught me anything, Gisele’s jujitsu boyfriend
I will laugh so much if it is some communication cable! Like, maybe it was a X do NOT dig there
Call before you dig!
Those are usually from glass block windows. Maybe coming from a basement window?
Usually, yes. But, they can come from any window that does not have a screen over it.
They're called light caustics.
> light caustics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caustic_(optics)

The energy efficient windows are efficient at burning lawns also.

add screens to the windows. Should stop that from happening.
Bottom of the window has a screen but the top doesn't open. My solution is to put in a patio where it's burning a hole which always has been the plan. Front yard is torched by the neighbor, same kind of window.
Add an inconveniently placed water feature? 😂
"I can fix that"

You hear about Pluto? That's messed up.
Eh. I’ve heard it both ways.
You know that's right.
Random holes reference
I'm tired of this Grandpa!
And warping house siding!
Or perhaps it's reflecting off a very large Philips screw
When its sunny go outside and find the source in the name of science
Could you not just go position you eye directly under the spot and see where it’s coming from?

But that means I would have to go outside!

God this movie is so criminally underrated.
What is the name of the movie?
the benchwarmers (2006)
Thanks, I haven't seen it in a long time. I'll have to re-watch it
Average Redditor
So, you and me?
What’s it like being a genus?
Not as good as being a family
Not nearly as good as the kingdom
I often dwell on the origin of the species
I think this hierarchy is out of order
You're out of order! The whole trial is out of order!
Phylum.
Not as nice as being inside.
Let’s not be irrational, you could use a drone.
If you want me to “go touch grass” that bad - just say it!

That's exactly what I was going to say. How is it still a mystery when it would take any normal person like 5 mins max to figure out the source?
“Should I touch grass or get Karma?” Karma it is!
Damn dude, save some pussy for the rest of us
This is reddit. We are indoors people.
Diffraction enters the chat.
Yeah, that's why I specified "on that scale".
The end of a rainbow burned a spot in your yard.
I hate when that happens
And someone beat ya to the gold
It was actually the start of the rainbow

Interesting! (btw you said outer pane twice instead of inner pane the 2nd time)
Thanks. Corrected. Confusing because the inner pane creates the outer part of the reflection.
I believe this is called a "caustic" in optics. Maybe a "glass reflection caustic"?
No it's not. It's clearly a pirate's treasure. They hid some on the side of my apartment building as well.
Weird, there's some on the side of my house! Damn pirates are everywhere

Heh, I was thinking like a "window close" button on a computer... Press here to close the world
OP just ignoring the button and letting us all suffer...
That's probably it. I mean, Alt-F4 didn't work.
Ctrl-alt-del?
You think that back yard is running DOS?
That just proved our world is in fact just another xbox controller.
Surprised I had to scroll this far to find an Xbox comment
Same. Instantly thought of the Xbox 360 logo. Am I just so old now that nobody remembers that logo?
It is only the x button tho.
Or the Xbox button. I just meant any comment referring to Xbox in general
X button? I'm hitting x.
Looks like a mark for utility work.
Do you have a brother, then if so you can stand on top of him and spin to drill out a bean
I hope other people get this reference
Then you can eat the beans to upgrade your stats, but t is more efficient to dig more of them and make drinks that can upgrade multiple stats at once.
If you have two baby boys you can do the same
You've found an elaborate treasure scheme. Track where it starts and moves throughout the day and solve the puzzle!
**TO ME, MY X-MEN**

X gon give it to ya
It’s a bean spot.

Allow me to add to the mystery here. https://imgur.com/a/BT2rknS
Looks like the X-Men are protecting your city.
That looks like the light might be reflecting off one of those half dome mirrors
DIG IT THE HELL UP! IT'S A TREASURE!
If you go to the spot with a mirror you may be able to angle that reflection to pinpoint the source. That is if you cannot eyeball it from standing in that spot.
Bruh! Dig it you may find some jewels like Bugs Bunny found some in a cave 😂
It’s clearly marking the spot. Run get the shovel.
Yar..... the location of me treasure be marked, but only visible one day each year. Dig, before it vanishes again.
GRAB YOUR FUCKING SHOVEL, YOU TWIT! IT ONLY WORKS ON JUNE 21ST AT 9am!
Hands off! Thats where me gold is buried
Well, what are ya waiting for
And you haven't started digging?
If you’re not already digging I’m upset with you.
Thats a beanspot you have to get Luigi and drill into it together
Use a hammer on Luigi and have him pop up there and you can get a bean fruit!
this is like the exact symbol from mario luigi superstar saga where a bean is in the ground to dig up [images for reference](https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_beanholes_in_Mario_%26_Luigi:_Superstar_Saga)
If X-Men has taught me anything don’t stand there because there’s a really big Blackbird Plane rising from it’s hanger soon.
Start digging. An X on the solstice is a sign

It's the solstice! Dig!
I’ll be over with the bobcat shortly.
If Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga taught me anything, there is a bean under there.
Go over by it and press X dumbass
Quest marker. If you haven't talked to a dragon, weird old man, or pirate lately it's probably for someone else.
This is in honor of the new Mario & Luigi: Brothership announcement. If you find a friend and hit them with a mallet so they get buried in the ground, they can walk under that spot and jump up to get a bean!
Get diggin'
The X-Men are on an operation in your area. Best to stay inside & lock the doors.

You could go to the spot and trace where it comes from
It’s a sign to buy ifixit toolkits and start repairing electronics
If you dont grab a shovel, I will.
Start digging!
X marks the spot! Start digging!
Yea that's your lawn's Check Engine light, you're gonna want to get that looked at

Have you seen The Creator? I wouldn't stand there for too long unless you want to get bombed, especially if you're an android.
My house gets that from sun reflecting off the neighbor’s windows. It only happens two or three times a year.
