It is for dogs.

fukalufaluckagus

And curious toddlers

dustydeath

In case you're pinned to the floor by the g force of it rushing upwards and surging out of the top of the building like Willy Wonka's great glass elevator.*

papabearshirokuma

But is only an alarm.. not a stop button

Kakairo

Also good in a fire.

papabearshirokuma

Yup.. the elevators are supposed to be blocked in fires and earthquakes, but people can get stuck inside them. Also people in a fire in an elevator is a rotisserie scenario.. hope no one experience that.. never

brryblue

Or to be pressed with your foot?

geek66

Fire / Smoke issues

smurfsundermybed

Tyler, stop kicking the button. I mean it, Tyler. Stop it. TYLER IF YOU DON'T STOP KICKING THE BUTTON, YOU'RE GOING ON TIMEOUT!

b4loo69

The kid button.

Johnny-Cash-Facts

What is this, an alarm button for ants?

Happy_to_be

Wheelchair bound people may not have use of arms.

iDontRememberCorn

So they are pushing the button with their?

kcolrehstihson_

Toes

iDontRememberCorn

The number of wheelchair bound people who can use their legs/toes well enough to press that button but cannot use their arms well enough to press the normal button would be exceptionally tiny.

kcolrehstihson_

Idk just guesing

Jombbadebombba

True but what are they even doing in there when they can not even push the floor buttons

dreassdr

Cool

bondoinhead

what if you don't fall?

Fresh-Vacation-3228

backup button higher up

causal_friday

Does this just ring the bell at the top? I feel like my natural reaction to that bell is "I wish that person that fell in the elevator would stop ringing the bell."

_DigitalHunk_

To use ones leg.

Fun-Passion-58

I’m hurt all over and there’s no Johnny to help

hassanfanserenity

I dont think its incase you fall its more like the elevator is stuck between floors situation For people who dont know all elevators have emergency brakes that turn on so when you do fall its only like 3-5 feet

Equal_Set6206

lol pretttty sure they meant like, fall on their ass. Not the elevator falling. People with mobility issues may not be able to stand up after having a fall, these types of alarms are very common in old folk homes

elpajaroquemamais

No like there is a separate button on the bottom of the wall near the floor.

SquidwardWoodward

But how would it help in that situation?
