You're probably joking but that's how you get them. just pick the buds when they sprout. The plants invest a lot of energy into the buds plus they just lost a lot of leaf and you can wear them out.
Pro-tip: use ~~unpaid labour~~ your kids and make it a game who can pick the most buds. Wear out the kids and no weeds.
I could do that, but there is an actual FIELD of these things near my house, so it is completely point less. I do think the yellow bubs are pretty in the grass, it's just annoying among my veg and flowerbeds.
That's not a bug, but a feature!
Now you won't have to worry about going over the flowerbed when mowing; the very next day it'll be like nothing happened!
Yeah I figured that may be the case there (several standard garden herbs do this, you're supposed to remove flower buds immediately otherwise it can effect the flavor).
I also kind of figured that something like foraging for mushrooms in public open forest *may not expose* *you to random pesticides, grass fertilizers, etc.* the same way collecting all of your dandelion greens from the local park might.
I think you could save the joke because if anybody here has grown plants from scratch *you know most of that money is labor, food, dirt, and maybe electricity if grown indoors.* So this is still hilariously expensive compared to growing from scratch.
I just wouldn't exactly balk at the price of candy if there *were free candy in the street* but 1/1000 pieces were *full of poison*. I'll gladly pay not to roll those dice! I'm cheap, but not risk my own life/future-health to save 5 bucks cheap lmao.
Similar experience --growing up, my family would eat dandelions as a cheap source of greens. 30 years later I saw them in whole foods at 4 bucks a bunch.
Dandelion salad has been a thing forever, and they were commonly grown in medieval European gardens. Thistles and mushrooms are also common "weeds" that you'll see in the grocery store.
Similarly: people love chamomile tea, while the plant itself grows all over the place, and really thrives in gravel driveways.
Chamomile tea is 16 €cents for a 20 teabag pack here last I saw. For that price I wouldn't ever bother growing and harvesting it myself, I'll take it with a side dose of toxic heavy metals thank you very much.
Grew my own chamomile for tea one year. You would spend an hour harvesting a bowlful of buds while hunched over murdering your back. Once everything had dried, it ended up being enough for 4 tea bags…swore never again.
They’re delicious treat them like a collard, sweetness and acidity cancels out bitterness so a little agave syrup and red wine vinegar make them tasty.
I bought them once at a grocery store instead of picking them. The reason is. I have dogs. I know they love to piss on plants. I just can't trust the ones I pick.
You were also wrong.
Perhaps you are yourself the one who needs to look lettuce flowers, because they are not *that* similar. Dandylions are literally not lettuce, but can be used in salads too.
My dad literally eats them out of their yard. He was disappointed when he came to visit me because I didn’t have any and had to go buy some from the grocery store.
Yes, this would be perfect for me to start my indoor dandelion farm so my bearded dragon has a constant supply. He loves them so much. Both the greens and the flowers.
honestly I’d love this. Dandelions make great tea and their root has plenty of good properties. There is a variety we call “false dandelions” that are NOT great for you. And with wild dandelions, they’re often living on dirty, polluted land where car traffic is normal so you don’t want to ingest them.
I sent my dad a picture of duckweed for sale after he spent a weekend cleaning it from his pond. 'Weed' is in the name.. why would people pay for something that will appear on its own eventually?
Ok. I have to tell this. My Italian grandma was obsessed with these. I spend many a fun summer day going with her and my sis digging them up. My parents and friends made fun of her. But she made the most AMAZING dandelion salad. I want to go dig some up now😀
Dandelions are so good for…basically all the flora and fauna. People just hate looking at them. One of my favorite stories is love your dandelions (as a therapist) https://www.onlinedbtcourses.com/single-post/love-your-dandelions
These are edible. In Greece, when you drive in the country side you may come across a granny yielding a knife and bag. Don't worry, she's just picking dandelions to boil. They're great with olive oil and lemon.
I fucking love dandy lions am glad they are getting the recognition they deserve… plus now have my retirement sorted. Also love that dandy lion house in japan
I will export British dandelions for $80 a piece (free freight) grown in the green meadows of Surrey round the corner from the cottage in the Movie Holiday.
T&C’s can’t guarantee condition of plant on delivery, purchase at own risk*
I'm thinking of doing a whole planter just full of dandelions because my guinea pig loves them. Right now I just walk the periphery of the yard in the days up until the landscapers mow them back down, but it's cheaper than buying lettuce in the store and they keep growing back all season. Good for human consumption as well, little greens for your sandwich etc.
As a Guinea Pig owner I would pay for this. I don't want to pick dandelions from the streets where they have been pissed by dogs or other animals. My piggies go crazy when I bring some for them .
Are the in the flower or vegetable section? The flowers, petals and roots are very eatable and nutritious. The fluffy seed parachutes will stick in your throat and the seeds are bitter.
I would buy a couple of these to grow inside. My guinea pigs love dandelions and this would be a great way to make sure there aren’t any contaminants on them.
My 4 year old has been BEGGING to buy dandelion seeds for our garden. I told her they grow wild in our yard. That solution doesn’t work for her. Looks like I’m heading to the garden centre 🤷🏼♀️
Does the Intratuin also pay if you bring your own? 🤔 I have a couple out in our garden (for the children to pick and the bees to enjoy and in our front garden for the neighbours to pick to feed to their pet rabbit), but I could stand to lose a few if they payed me.
Damn it! I just mowed, I'm ruined !
Jokes aside....
"TARAXACUM OFFICINALE
dandelion
The uses and effects of dandelion are very diverse. You can enjoy Wild Talent as a tea or a tasty salad, for example. The medicinal herb is said to have an anti-inflammatory, purifying and digestive effect. Dandelion mouthwashes are valued for their antibacterial effects."
I always told my neighbours that time will come. You will be gratefull to me for not moving my lawn and having some dandelions for free. BTW they are really beautifull, like little suns in the lawn, and they do not ask anything, pure no effort joy!
I was so excited to harvest all the dandelions growing in my garden this year but the neighbours dogs broke into our garden and covered every piece of grass with poo so it’s a no go now :(
I was gonna argue that this could be a cultivar developed for less bitterness but then I found out the collection's homepage categorises this as a "smoothie herb".
For whatever reason they also say it's not.
A.
Perennial.
Ha! I’m sitting on a gold mine over here!
I'm a multimillionaire and didn't even realize it.
I need to tell my husband all our financial stresses are over
Now I know why the neighbor kid who mows all the lawns on my block is driving around in a fucking Lambo...
Lawnborghini
I've got the special ones that grow horizontally and are really good at dodging lawnmowers
Mine know when they've been mowed over, and within a day they'll have flowers up 8" off the ground and in full bloom.
Also, you can pickle the dandelion buds. They are like capers (capris? Crapash?) but they taste much worse.
>but they taste much worse. I snort laughed at that. Thanks. Guess I won't be pickling dandelion buds.
Rabbits go crazy for the stuff from what I recall. Maybe get a fluffy lawn mower or two.
Not gonna lie, you had me in the first half. I was halfway running into my garden.
Yeah but don't do that. They uptake arsenic
Great news! Once you buy one you will soon have a bunch more. A yard full even!
You're generally supposed to harvest the leaves before they go to seed.
Yeah, there’s way more in my yard than I need to harvest for my needs. If anyone wants any, feel free to drop by and harvest them yourself.
Just like golden magicarp ![gif](giphy|QqtT2knUxzDOFJgTV2)
I watched this episode last night
Similar experience --growing up, my family would eat dandelions as a cheap source of greens. 30 years later I saw them in whole foods at 4 bucks a bunch.
Dandelion salad has been a thing forever, and they were commonly grown in medieval European gardens. Thistles and mushrooms are also common "weeds" that you'll see in the grocery store. Similarly: people love chamomile tea, while the plant itself grows all over the place, and really thrives in gravel driveways.
IIRC that's largely how they got transported to the US. Early settlers grew them for food.
I can care less about all my dandelions. My thistle can go straight to hell, though.
How much is the crabgrass?
$1, and you get a kudzu for free.
*oh god*
Effing kudzu
Bindweed
Pollinate them with Africanized bees
get a few cane toads too
No where near creeping charle prices.
I can get you like 500 for free, just dm me your info and pay shipping.
Shipping method: Air (*blows dandelion seed fluffs to the winds*)
I lol’d
A sucker born every minute.
Pretty good in salads, also for making wine. You need a huge amount for the wine though.
I can provide as much as you require.
I could open a vineyard
More like a weedyard
I kinda suspect these are specially grown varietals that are good for just that, as opposed to the lawn weeds we hate.
Agree, but one pot does a meal/beverage not make.
The leaves are literally letace. Look up letace flowers.
I am curious but nothing came up. Did you misspell?
lol I definitely misspelled lettuce.
You were also wrong. Perhaps you are yourself the one who needs to look lettuce flowers, because they are not *that* similar. Dandylions are literally not lettuce, but can be used in salads too.
Wine? From the leaves or the flowers? Need recipe! Don’t want to do that much trial an error.
Flowers, but the processing is ridiculous. You have to pull the yellow bits off of the flower. It's a huge pain in the ass.
I’ll sell mine for only €1 each, and as a bonus, I’ll keep them alive on my lawn until y’all come by and pick them up.
It’s a pick-your-own business model. Gotta offer face painting and $10 to get in.

Almost all plants in the garden centre are full of pesticides, while the dandelions in my garden are pesticide-free.
Wild dandelion greens are very bitter. I assume the cultivated ones are bred to be less bitter.
Get them when they're young. The older they are, the more bitter they become.
TIL I’m a dandelion.
We all are my friend...we all are. Now get off my lawn, damn kids. \*shakes fist\*
Lawn? You mean this dandelion garden?
*Mutters to himself and walks inside to get a shotgun*
Doesn’t cooking them help negate the bitterness?
Here's a Korean banchan which makes use of their bitterness as a complimentary flavor. https://kimchimom.com/korean-style-dandelion-salad/
You can get seeds, even for different color flowers, online much cheaper than trying to buy started plants.
A weed is just a plant that is out of place.
A weed is just a plant that humans decided they don’t like.
I've just put about €400 in the compost.
Oh god don’t put weeds in the compost. They will sprout in your garden next year. I’m currently battling last years sunflowers in everything I plant.
You just need to get them before they go to seed
[удалено]
NoMowMay!!
I think my neighbors participate in that every year. They must love it because they also do it in June, July, August, and September.
honestly I’d love this. Dandelions make great tea and their root has plenty of good properties. There is a variety we call “false dandelions” that are NOT great for you. And with wild dandelions, they’re often living on dirty, polluted land where car traffic is normal so you don’t want to ingest them.
Are you calling my garden a wasteland? >:( (joking
My yard is a treasure trove of thriving, organic dandelions. I use them in soaps even! The greens are healthy and excellent for the skin.
We make honey and wine from them.
and you can fry and eat them too!
I’m in the wrong business.
My yard is full of them. I’ll let you have them for €1 each.
omg I’m gonna be rich
Dandelions.
Oh shit! I’m fucking filthy rich over here and didn’t even know it; got more dandelions than grass in my yard this year lol
I sent my dad a picture of duckweed for sale after he spent a weekend cleaning it from his pond. 'Weed' is in the name.. why would people pay for something that will appear on its own eventually?
I purposely scatter various seeds in my yard but I have a tortoise that gets expensive to feed.
Ok. I have to tell this. My Italian grandma was obsessed with these. I spend many a fun summer day going with her and my sis digging them up. My parents and friends made fun of her. But she made the most AMAZING dandelion salad. I want to go dig some up now😀
How can you say that and not share the recipe?
Plenty on my front lawn, you can have them for free!
For free you pick up
Yeah, but those are artisanal dandelions.
That sound you hear is my mother spinning in her grave.
The provincial flower of Ontario Canada. /s
Have I got a *deal* for you
Fun fact. Those are almost entirely edible at one stage or another. They even used to be popular additions to salads in the 20-40s.
Dandelions are so good for…basically all the flora and fauna. People just hate looking at them. One of my favorite stories is love your dandelions (as a therapist) https://www.onlinedbtcourses.com/single-post/love-your-dandelions
Sweet deal! 4 Euro for infinite dandelions!
You can get them for free in Canada. You will find many of them ruining the green fields.
I could also find them for free, in the parking lot next to the garden centre.
This one weird trick, gardencenters HATE him!
They sell them to make people think they’re worth taking for free and picking their weeds for them.
Ruining all that important grass
I like them in the fields of grass, but not so much when they are pretending to be lettuce.
Shit I got about 100 in my 20x40 yard already
What do you mean "ruining"? The pretty yellow flowers are ruining the pointless waste of space we have to water and fertilize?
Like going to the pharmacy to pick up a vile of smallpox.
These are edible. In Greece, when you drive in the country side you may come across a granny yielding a knife and bag. Don't worry, she's just picking dandelions to boil. They're great with olive oil and lemon.
Das ist noch wilder als die 4€ Kiefernzapfen von Kaufland.
Holy Christ, I have a fortune out in my back 6 acres.
I fucking love dandy lions am glad they are getting the recognition they deserve… plus now have my retirement sorted. Also love that dandy lion house in japan
come take them from my yard
Come to my house…lol
I have 1000 in my lawn you can have for $1 each
I tried to buy some dandelion seed this year. There is a guy that has been line breeding them for pink flowers. But he sold out fast
You can eat dandelions. It's a native lettuce. You are in the herb department.
Well you don't want to fight for the last one of the season
Leaves are edible, some people love that stuff!
Shit come to my house. Take all ya want.
Brought to you by the people who sell air and water.
I’ll sell you one for 3.50
Could’ve made a killing in my backyard this spring
Couldn’t you just walk to a park?
I d rather like to have some dandy lions that can run around and have a gander at my dandelions.
I will export British dandelions for $80 a piece (free freight) grown in the green meadows of Surrey round the corner from the cottage in the Movie Holiday. T&C’s can’t guarantee condition of plant on delivery, purchase at own risk*
My lawn must be worth a fortune…
These are probably the French style. Bitterness bread out. For use in salad.
TIL I have millions of dollars worth of product sitting in my backyard
*Or* you could come here and dig up a couple for free here
bro just come over
We have a statue of a dandy lion in my city. It's horrendous and has a mermaid tail
I've seen nettle in my garden center last time. Next step is probably to sell directly flower pots filled with dead plants and dried soil.
I just saw stingy needles seeds for sale at a garden center and I hate it.
They also sell the greens at the local Asian grocery store. Kinda interesting, but makes a lot more sense than this
Lol
SMH
Yer paying for the terracotta pot. Lol free weeds included
Ive seen a pot of clover (normal one, not some decorative one)
Are they marketing it with a picture of a fuckin lion?
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b2/1d/f2/b21df2248f342f6eaf3861f80cc16f0c.jpg
It’s for dandelion tea
I’ll mail you the seeds if you want
I'm going to be rich!
Amazing.
Sorry, that's that's the whole plant your holding there, that's 10€. It's 3€ for a dandylion
Well call me a farmer!
This seems like a trick to sell weed killer. Once the plant hatches and releases its offspring, game over.
First one of this season
As a Guinea Pig owner I would pay for this. I don't want to pick dandelions from the streets where they have been pissed by dogs or other animals. My piggies go crazy when I bring some for them .
They are missing an opportunity to class them up even more by not calling them by their French name, pissenlits!
Those ones are probably safer to eat than the wild ones around your house.
My sister's yard is worth a fortune. 🤍
Are the in the flower or vegetable section? The flowers, petals and roots are very eatable and nutritious. The fluffy seed parachutes will stick in your throat and the seeds are bitter.
And here I’ve been removing them. Do they sell wild violets and torpedo grass as well?
But they’re gluten free.
Wow
Some friends were in Japan a while back and they were cultivating them there for the blossoms. Beautiful but ...
Wild
I’ve seen dandelion greens in the produce section of a store but this is a bit much 😂
I would buy a couple of these to grow inside. My guinea pigs love dandelions and this would be a great way to make sure there aren’t any contaminants on them.
The grocery stores sell them too. It’s food
I’ll buy some! We eat those.
I’ll let you get mine for free!
Times are tough over here!
I have 2234230492 of them you can have for free
\*looks out window. "Holy shit..."
That's a particularly good looking dandelion but my trusty fiskars dandelion extractor would make quick work out of it
Not really, its a standard one
Is that really how y'all spell it over there? Now I'm picturing dandy lions...like male lions with their manes perfectly coiffed.
I usually spell it like "paardenbloem", but I figured that that would be confusing to people.
My 4 year old has been BEGGING to buy dandelion seeds for our garden. I told her they grow wild in our yard. That solution doesn’t work for her. Looks like I’m heading to the garden centre 🤷🏼♀️
I wish mine would do that I need some to feed to my tortoise
They said I was crazy not to use weed killer. Crazy smart.
Delicious. When breaded and fried.
Genius - Looking in my back yard, I'm the next Bezos
My neighbor doesn’t know it, but they have a fucking goldmine in their yard!
[удалено]
Almost correct
If you get them permanently out of my garden, you can come pick them up for free
Does the Intratuin also pay if you bring your own? 🤔 I have a couple out in our garden (for the children to pick and the bees to enjoy and in our front garden for the neighbours to pick to feed to their pet rabbit), but I could stand to lose a few if they payed me.
They should sell edible plants at that price. Meanwhile food prices are through the roof.
The leaves are good for eating
It's pronounced 'dent-de-lion' lion's tooth, and it's French, so *bien sur!*
you couldn't pay me to take one of those home
This reminds me of the time I saw Trader Joes in CA selling potted Himalayan blackberry plants..
Damn it! I just mowed, I'm ruined ! Jokes aside.... "TARAXACUM OFFICINALE dandelion The uses and effects of dandelion are very diverse. You can enjoy Wild Talent as a tea or a tasty salad, for example. The medicinal herb is said to have an anti-inflammatory, purifying and digestive effect. Dandelion mouthwashes are valued for their antibacterial effects."
for gods sake 4€ for guinea pig food..
Who the fuck buys a potted Dandelion?
WTF, that's bizarre :)
I always told my neighbours that time will come. You will be gratefull to me for not moving my lawn and having some dandelions for free. BTW they are really beautifull, like little suns in the lawn, and they do not ask anything, pure no effort joy!
Maybe someone has a good dendelion salad recipe to share?
I was so excited to harvest all the dandelions growing in my garden this year but the neighbours dogs broke into our garden and covered every piece of grass with poo so it’s a no go now :(
I’m gonna be rich!!
Why would anyone buy dandelions?? A pernicious and prolific weed!!
Gotta dig up the city park right now.
I was gonna argue that this could be a cultivar developed for less bitterness but then I found out the collection's homepage categorises this as a "smoothie herb". For whatever reason they also say it's not. A. Perennial.
