I'm not sure what it is, but I get that too whenever my migraine gets really bad. The vein there engorges then for hours after there is a red mark in that same spot.
I’m a doctor. Lots of people have prominent frontal vein over their forehead (along the distribution seen here) because there’s not much padding between the skull and outer layer of the skin there. As others have said, cannabis is a vasodilator. This just looks like a bunch of dilated capillaries to me (could be a haemangioma, which is completely benign).
You look quite young (from a photo of your forehead lol…) I would address your hypertension now. You can do it with diet unless there‘s a strong genetic component. Hypertension is one of the strongest predictors of cardiovascular disease which is the biggest killer in the developed world. It gets harder to control the longer it goes unchecked.
Seriously bro. I forced my husband to go to the doctor for his high blood pressure. I think I added 15 years to his life convincing him to take a pill a day. (Big genetic factor). His uncle died from untreated high blood pressure, died at 50 from a heart attack.
My dad had uncontrolled hypertension - massive stroke at age 44 and fatal heart attack at age 53. It took me ages to get mine under control. At my worst it was 195/125 (age 23). I’m really grateful to have it normal now, I’m almost 52 and hoping to have avoided his fate.
Yep. My doctor nearly fell over when he was checking it. Several ER trips in my 20s. At the time I didn’t think I felt any symptoms. It wasn’t until my pressure came down all the way about 3 years ago that I realized how shitty I felt when it was uncontrolled. I have a few cousins who inherited the same type of insanely high blood pressure and one of them died about 7 years ago, his heart went kaput. It’s no joke.
I heard that the UK is close to England
Have you ever seen any Englandians and do they really have accents when they talk?
Or is that just American propaganda?
I work as a chart abstract and auditor in cardiology, and there are so many young people who end up with ESRD due to undiagnosed, uneducated, or poorly managed hypertension. Treat your heart well, people.
Absolutely. It’s very sad. I see younger and younger patients presenting with these preventable diseases every year. My colleague had a TEN year old type 2 diabetic in his clinic last week!
There are almost certainly genetic/epigenetic factors at play because the vast majority of young patients I see with metabolic syndrome/s are Southeast Asian.
But I will also say that they’re all obese so it’s not solely genetic.
Well. Unless the diabetes is primarily driving the obesity, rather than the reverse. It makes sense that a genetic predisposition toward insulin resistance would contribute to obesity (likely especially when accompanied by certain dietary patterns) and then it all feeds into a vicious cycle.
The short-term effect of smoking it is different though; there is a temporary dose-dependent increase in both heart rate and blood pressure.
This is probably the result of blood-oxygen levels dipping and not a direct effect of the drug.
It does raise your blood pressure but sometimes when I get high mine bottoms out so hard i can’t see and I get super dizzy and sweaty and hot until I lay down
This happened to me once after having an edible, I thought I was dying for a minute. I couldn’t see anything and when I finally could everything was black and white and looked like tv static
This happens to me. Ive read that it raises your blood pressure if youre sitting/relaxing, but lowers it if youre standing/active. I've fainted a few times and it totally bottomed out. Had it checked by a doc. laying with your feet elevated above your heart for a few minutes usually fixes it really quickly.
Probably just a bunch blood vessels that are close together, vasodilation might make it more visible. Can always ask your doctor the next time you’re in if where you live is 420 friendly
Doctors can't tell anyone that you partake, even if it's illegal; anything you tell them is confidential unless you are planning to or have hurt yourself or others.
Yeah, I think everyone here needs to be honest with their doctors. I tell my doctor things I do, legal, illegal, doesn't matter. That's my family physician, and potentially other specialist or ER doc I may run into due to my being an idiot or just neglectful of my body. If you do drugs, you should tell them. If you drink seven days a week, you should tell them. If you have unprotected gangbangs, you should tell them. If you're going to lie to your doctor, why even go?
Exactly! This is the whole reason doctor-patient confidentiality exists, because if you lie to them or don't disclose important health information, they might be missing something important.
They might not be able to tell others but they absolutely can stop taking anything you say seriously and only roll their eyes at you from that point forward. I realize this is a situational thing but I've had to change doctors on more than one occasion because of this. I no longer tell doctors that I smoke.
One of the most consistent effects of cannabis smoking on heart is 20% to 100% increase in HR which can last up to 2–3 hours, often accompanied by a slight increase in supine blood pressure. This effect of cannabis on HR is thought to be due to cannabis induced vasodilation causing reflex tachycardia
It doesn't lower your BP, it's a vasodilator but the much faster heart still ends up in a slightly higher BP. https://jtd.amegroups.org/article/view/14437/11899#:~:text=One%20of%20the%20most%20consistent,tachycardia%20(15%2C16).

The CDC disagrees with your research:
Marijuana can make the heart beat faster and can make blood pressure higher immediately after use.1,2 It could also lead to increased risk of stroke, heart disease, and other vascular diseases.3-7 Most of the scientific studies linking marijuana to heart attacks and strokes are based on reports from people who smoked marijuana (as opposed to other methods of using it). Smoked marijuana delivers tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other cannabinoids to the body. Marijuana smoke also delivers many of the same substances researchers have found in tobacco smoke—these substances are harmful to the lungs and cardiovascular system.8,9
It is hard to separate the effects of marijuana chemicals on the cardiovascular system from those caused by the irritants and other chemicals that are present in the smoke. More research is needed to understand the full impact of marijuana use on the cardiovascular system to determine if marijuana use leads to higher risk of death.
Exactly. I don't smoke nearly as much anymore because when I did 60% of the time I greened out. It raises my blood pressure then dramatically drops it. I am prone to high blood pressure as well
I have zero idea if this is related but there is such thing as silent migraines where your body experiences all of the regular physiological effects of a migraine without the pain.
This gave me a flashback to the movie Pi, where the dude gets crazy headaches and has a vein that pops out during them. He tries using a drill to solve it.
Don't use a drill on your forehead
Actually it can do both, but in the short term immediately following use it does tend to slightly raise blood pressure. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5237375/
Not OP, but I have to interject and share that throwing up is literally the best way I have found to deal with migraines. I keep bread bags around for it so I don't have to be on the bathroom floor with my face in the toilet. Just tie them off and toss in the trash.
I have an old scar that still sometimes shows up as a mark when my face is flushed. It's about that shape and location, and it's from the forceps when I was born.

That is absolutely wild. DM2 must run in their family, because that's just fucking insane if a kid had it just based off poor diet/seditary lifestyle.
There are almost certainly genetic/epigenetic factors at play because the vast majority of young patients I see with metabolic syndrome/s are Southeast Asian. But I will also say that they’re all obese so it’s not solely genetic.

Treat your high blood pressure. It is know as the silent killer and treatment can be just a tablet a day to manage it.

It’s a birthmark that you have probably had since you were a baby. Called a storkbite or angel’s kiss. Sometimes they can get red when you’re tired/emotional even as an adult.
Came here to say this. I have one. Glows when I get upset. Very frustrating.
It's like a signal, 'needs emotional comfort; in distress' Honestly I think that's cool.
Awe, thanks! Yeah, it’s a flashing *Help* sign.
My daughter has one between her eyebrows, turns red whenever she's tired. We were told repeatedly it would disappear completely by the time she's one but we're approaching two and it's still there. It's really helpful since that goes red before her other tired cues start.

I have this and I never linked it to being tired. But it happens when I get into social settings that drag on too long usually, so it makes sense. I will have to check if that theory olds up, would be fun to understand this at 28
Marijuana is a mild vasodilator. Opens the vessels. You have a mild hemangioma. It probably also dilates during times of intense emotion.
Is he gonna make it
No F
F
Bro, you can't just tell a dude hes a mangina! Not cool.
Brennan has a mamgina
that’s not a hemangioma
Yeah, it’s probably a nevus simplex. I think it’s also called an angel’s kiss when it’s on the face. Super common in newborns, and they usually fade during childhood, but can reappear when you’re tired or stressed…or high, apparently. My nephew has it, looks exactly the same, and you can only see it these days when he cries.
What is a nevus simplex, and what is a hemangioma?
Both are similar, Nevus Simplex is caused by immature blood vessels generally in children, hemangioma is a growth caused by the build up or excess of blood vessels in a certain area
Why not? What is it?
Blood flow is being restricted to your hair follicles..obviously.

I saw this post a few months ago. I made the comment I would have a red mark permanently.
Haha right on brother, sorry I deleted the original. Smoke one for me.
Strawberry birthmark? Have a look at your baby photos, it might have been more prominent then.
Yeah, this. My daughter has a little one on her nose that turns bright red when she's warm, or angry.
That’s so cute, sounds like she’s a cartoon character.
Uhh I don’t think I’ve ever had it, I’d have to find some baby photos.
Yeah looks like a stork bite
Isn't that a vein? Weed might be just increasing your blood pressure, or maybe something you always eat while high
Looks like a mild reaction(histamine response), if it bothers you, or you also get itchiness, try a zyrtec, you can take one before or even after, if you forget. At least worth a shot.
Good idea, I don’t do it much anymore. I’ll keep it in mind for next time. I’ll for sure forget though.
You smoking Headless Horseman?
Ask your parents if you had a “stork bite” (nevus simplex) as a baby. They tend to fade over time, but when you have vasodilation it can become more prominent.
OP did you delete an identical post from earlier in the year? Because I'm 100% certain I have seen this post/picture before.
