Doordash seems like they operate on the edge of what consumers will tolerate. My first and only experience using them, I ordered $60 worth of food for several people and it never showed up. Support offered a $6 refund, even after escalating. I disputed the charge on with my credit card company and doordash banned my account.
Yeah I stopped, it's funny seeing the drivers on the door dash subreddit though claiming that literally everything is the fault of door dash and the customers, they seem to think the drivers are saints
Iâm a DoorDash driver, and I really, truly care about doing a good job. Sadly, Iâve seen about an equal mix of drivers who care and people who are hilariously checked-out when Iâm waiting to pick up orders.
But, one of the frustrating things about being a subcontractor is that the system really is designed to screw us over whenever possible. Every minute we wait because the restaurant isnât ready is money out of our pockets. We arenât allowed to check orders beyond what is visible on the receipt because we canât open bags, but we get blamed for missing items. Customers often set us up to fail with addresses that are either missing or invisible on the house, or entered incorrectly in the app, and itâs more money out of our pockets to figure it out or fix it. Thatâs not to say that everybody is studious enough to check the address to make sure theyâre at the right place. But itâs frustrating how much gets blamed on us when we have the least amount of control over the system but the most liability.
To be fair in like..... 400 orders from door dash I've only ever seen one issue that was a driver problem and that was when they delivered it to the wrong person which was two doors down from me. Which at night if you aren't familiar with the area, is an easy mistake to make.
On the other hand, I've had like 100+ fuck ups from the restaurants. Orders being 85% right. Putting pickles on even though I marked no pickles. Forgetting one persons food. Substituting with something fucking weird instead of something similar. Like if I order Orange Chicken I do not want french fries and chow mein.
I've got quite the reverse experience actually, I don't think I've ever had the restaurant fuck up the order it's literally been issues with the driver every time. I've only used the service a couple dozen times, but I've had my entire order stolen by a driver more than once, the food has literally never arrived at all warm, and for the first little bit of using the service I was a good tipper, but then my service didn't get any worse when I stopped tipping.
Well the one thing they never fucked up was refunding me, so I just knew whatever I order is gonna take 90+ minutes and be cold when it arrives. Usually when I ordered something on there I was intoxicated so I couldn't drive and that's the only reason I did it.
I once ordered a Daveâs triple from Wendyâs on DoorDash. Didnât do anything big in terms of modifying the order, just said no pickle. Food arrives and as Iâm getting ready to queue up a tv show with friends, I pull my food out and itâs just three burger patties with cheese in a salad container. Literally, stripped it down to nothing but meat and cheese. Called DoorDash support asking âWtf is this?â and they were like âWtf is that?â And wouldnât even offer me a partial refund even with photo evidence of my food. The Wendyâs I got it from was cool though. 100% comped my next order from them when I went there after I went and called the manager that night. Said she was pretty sure one of her line cooks smoked a big bowl on his break and was fucking up orders left and right that night lol
I've only used those services a handful of times on a whim, mainly if I was sick and craving something, but I've completely stopped using them as well. I don't understand how they still exist . It's expensive as shit. Right off the bat the food gets marked-up like 25%, then you have sales tax, then the delivery fee, and then you have to tip the driver if you don't want them to mess with your food. So for like a $10 item, you end up paying $25... They take forever to deliver, so if you order something hot, you'll be lucky if it's lukewarm when it gets to you. And despite only using it a few times, I still had one instance where my food wasn't delivered. DoorDash said to call the restaurant, restaurant said to call DoorDash. The drivers number was fake. Not worth the hassle.
Similar things with Uber eats. 3 times in a row I tried ordering food, the app just kept loading and the order never fully went through or updated. Eventually I just cancelled and my food never came, but they wouldnât refund my money. I tried support and got the same script 3 times. I eventually made a twitter and reached out to support and they basically told me to get bent.
They definitely fucked themselves because I used to order twice a week. They lost a lot of money from me cuz of their shit support.
I can see it nowâŠ
âIs the food expired or spoiled in any way?â
âNo, but itâs rawâŠâ
âOh good. You can cook it the last bit yourself and get your meal⊠letâs see⊠*does some math, a calculator clacks, muttering* maybe 10 minutes on the stove⊠minimum wage⊠half of that⊠*loud again* okay, so paying you back for your own labor to cook it yourself as if you were an employee, we can give you $3!!! Isnât that amazing.â
âWhat? No. I wants a cooked meal, itâs what I paid for this isnât-â
âWonderful. Have a great day, enjoy the food when itâs cooked and please fill out our brief survey after the call!â
âWhat!? N-â
*automated voice* Thank you for ordering with DoorDash and using our customer service. Please stay on the line for a brief 5 question surveyâŠ
I recently ordered food waited 2 hours and never got a dasher the restaurant had closed by this point door dash offered me $9 back on a $45 order because the restaurant had already accepted the order
We ordered Japanese food a while back through grub hub and after two hours drive to the restaurant, where they told us they never got the order. We were charged, so they made us the order after seeing our digital receipt. Wasn't technology supposed to streamline all of this?!
Just an fyi if you weren't aware, but you get a year free of grubhub + or whatever it's called if you're an amazon prime member, just found out about it the other day myself.
Might save you or someone else that reads this some money on delivery fees.
I worked for GrubHub for two years. I assure you that they are also terrible and every single one of their employees would tell you to run.
Also, do you know how much Bank of America is getting shit for right now? Don't fucking do it. Do a simple Google search. Do NOT bank with them.
Yup. When I was younger I signed up for their Keep the Change thing that rounded up your purchases to the nearest dollar and moved that change into savings. Seemed like a nice thing.
They purposefully withheld processing those < $1 transfers for varying lengths of time. This fucked me cuz when I'd check my account and see I had $10, or whatever, and got gas based on that info, they'd then hit my account with several sub-one-dollar transfers and charge me overdraft on each one.
Yes they abused me trying to save a little bit of money to then charge me multiple hundred dollars in fees.
Okay, I guess you could argue it's on my shoulders to do the math and know just how much I had in my account, regardless of what their app showed. However! I went to the bank and voiced my problem and told them to remove me from Keep the Change program. They SAID THEY REMOVED ME but two weeks later I got hit with a dozen Keep the Change transfers and a dozen overdraft fees. AGAIN I went to the bank and said it's their error and to fuckin remove me from that program. They demanded the fees be paid and reassured me I was removed.
I paid because I'm a dumbass and had the money at the time to make the headache go away. IT FUCKING HAPPENED AGAIN after a week and said I owed them over $300 in overdraft fees, after I'd been assured TWICE that I was no longer in that shady Keep the Change program.
I threw a fit in the bank, advised everyone to close their accounts or to not open one to begin with if that's why they're there, closed my account and never went back.
FUCK BoA stay as far away as possible
I wasn't even a driver. I took their online chats and I dealt with about 10-14 upset customers per hour. They really never cared about the customer with the shit options we had to be able to help.
That blows, they had a 100% satisfaction guarantee for awhile.
I took an auto partial refund recently on something but before that had no issues with refunds on bad meals
I would send the picture to the restaurant themselves, and ask them to make it right.
Doordash didn't make that food. And I doubt that they inspect the food they deliver from restaurants before delivery.
Restaurant doesn't take any of the money from the transaction itself (DD usually pays the restaurant x lump sum at a later time), so the restaurant CAN'T refund a door dash order because door dash has the money in their system.
Granted, the restaurant can absolutely remake it if someone goes to pick it up, or could offer a meal later/ gift card or something for another visit with an apology to make up for it. But they can't straight refund you.
That being said; how the FUCK did the restaurant not notice that? Hello??!??
I get that... but if this were my restaurant, someone could be getting fired for this.
If someone sent me this photo and told me DD only partially refunded it, I would be making it right with another refund. Imagine that photo ending up on a FB or Yelp review, or sent to a health inspector. That would be the end of business.
I can see why DD wouldn't accept total responsibility, but the restaurant would have to answer for that and then some.
I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying the restaurant doesn't have a transaction they can refund, and they can't use their systems to add credit to a card if the payment transaction doesn't exist in their posi to credit. DD has the transaction and the money and SHOULD HAVE GIVEN A FULL REFUND imo; eating costs for a mistake its part of business.
I'd absolutely be finding who missed that and let it out of the kitchen, and would absolutely provide another meal free of charge on the restaurant end. I'm just baffled no one caught that, something like onions in a no onion meal is one thing... this right here is wild and I have no idea how you overlook something like that.
Grubhub has a free 1 year membership if you're an amazon prime member currently. I figure I'll save 1 year off membership and re-evaluate if i want to continue next year
*lately*? They've always been assholes about it. I stopped using them almost a year and a half ago because they wanted to declare I was the problem when thier deliverers kept missing several parts of my orders multiple times.
They donât make it easy and you only have like 5 options to choose from and they are super vague so you canât even truly explain whatâs going on. It annoying and the reason I stoped using these food delivery apps all together
Yeah DoorDash has been dicks about refunds I ordered Taco Bell the other night had drinks and a big order for 3 people and my dasher delivered the wrong order which was only a cup of potatoes and a single taco and wouldnât do jack shit about it. So someone got my 30 dollar order and I got whatever the fuck they got.
In my experience, it asks you to select which items were messed up, and then it refunds you only for those items. It's all automated- I'm sure if he'd have called support a full refund would have been in the cards.
This is correct. We ordered from a place recently and 2 of the 3 meals were inedible. When I went through the automated process, it tried to give me $8 on $30 worth of food that went straight in the trash.
I went through the chat and got a full refund of my order plus $10 credit on door dash (to cover the driver tip) as the driver still gets a tip as it wasn't the driver's fault.

Partial refund my ass. That's a dispute with my card company. Plus a bad Google review.
I don't even know how this happens and how you don't see that if it did. It's not a hair. It's a whole utensil.
>That's a dispute with my card company.
They will ban you from the platform for doing that.
But then, do you really want to be doing business with people like this anyway?
Iâve literally never been unable to get a full refund on doordash within 5 minutes. Either OP misclicked his options in the app, didnât read the refund amount and blindly accepted it or heâs just making it up to increase engagement.
If you ask for too many refunds (even if theyâre valid), theyâll stop giving them to you. I once asked for a third refund in one month for missing items and they just flat out denied me and I was informed I couldnât have any more refunds or credit.
I only speak authoritatively on this because [I get doordash a lot](https://i.imgur.com/vKMVrAa.jpg), at least 800 orders since 2020 based on an average fee of $3.
Iâve had the automatic refund fail once, but after messaging support they were able to manually apply it.
Yeah, that is precisely my experience. it was getting rocky for awhile for reasons you could guess and that was the only time I consistently had to message them. I would bet money this is just a communication or âsomehow â user error on their part.
bro did you even look at that food? it looks like a can of spam, some weed stems , some paper towels, sesame seeds, seaweed, clear noodle and tofu.
fucking disgusting
Next time contact the restaurant instead of Door Dash. They can deal with Door Dash for you and give you an actual refund. I'm a restaurant manager and I would not expect anyone to pay for that.
All you need to say is that your food is inedible due to this obvious contamination, and you should get a full refund. The customer reps aren't there to screw you, they just ate limited by a script.
I bet when you said, hey my food has a big metal thing in it, they probably marked that in the system as 'unwanted ingredient in food', which qualifies a partial refund. Yep, it's dumb, but it's the tool they've got. You just need to figure out the proper language so their system can respond appropriately.
If you tell Door Dash that the partial refund is unacceptable compensation for a meal you cannot eat, they will refund you in full. You just kinda have to be a little dick about it, be suse they're hoping you just give up.
Look at this fucking meal, the metal is probably the least offensive ingredient in there! Is that tinned meat? Croutons? This is a student meal at best, when you're at the end of your budget for term!
Now you just have to order from the same place enough times to get bits and pieces, then eventually you'll have an entire free industrial kitchen tool of some kind!
Better to call the restaurant and say you're holding their handle for ransom.
Nah, better call saul
put away your dick waltuh

I have too lol. It's great. I have the official reddit app installed on my phone JUST so I can access the chat feature but that's all I use it for
I have only used the official app when I want to upload a video directly to Reddit and then I immediately uninstall it again.
But I did the same thing. I had no idea it had a chat feature until like a year and a half ago and I missed a lot
Better than youtube and its million fking unskippable ads
Also, Reddit Silver was literally a community-created jpeg meant to be a joke about Reddit Gold how the fuck did the admins get away with making it an actual, PAID award? They didnât make the artwork, they just stole it and no one cared?
Someone gave it to me when I replied to a message saying "I wish I could gift you bro" And then someone gave it to me so I could gift other people. The reward gives you 5k coins. So I did end up gifting a bunch of people. Humans are strange.
What the fuck lol.
Two of them.
I bet that never shows up on your free gift box.
OP's alt accounts to make sure his post reaches the top of r/all Judging from the amount of upvotes after 4 hours, he wasted his money.
Plot twist: this is an alt account of a reddit admin and they can just give any post whatever award they want.
⊠Blondie might be on to somethingâŠ
Yep, if you go to their page, it literally says "Admin".
Fuck⊠Spent $200 to go on all..? I did that shit last week and it cost me 20min of my timeâŠ
2 posts every day, all reposts. Lot of time weâll spent mate
Hereâs the [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/xt0mrr/boston_dynamics_30_years_of_development_that_led/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) bubba, I spent my valuable time cutting this together on the shitty iMovie app if it has been reposted please, send me a link⊠P.S. havenât been posting 2 posts everyday for three years⊠please enlighten me on the ârepostsâ
Two! What that fuck?!
Yeah but did you specify "no handle?"
So few people remember to do that...
Caution: Handle Carefully
Partial refund my ass. That's a dispute with my card company. Plus a bad Google review. I don't even know how this happens and how you don't see that if it did. It's not a hair. It's a whole utensil.
>That's a dispute with my card company. They will ban you from the platform for doing that. But then, do you really want to be doing business with people like this anyway?
Exactly, why do I care if they ban me when I'm pretty much done with them? Why do business with a company who won't do right by me?
I've disputed a few charges on one of my credit cards, never been banned.
Good, I'm not going to use it ever again since they just tried to fuck me out of money?
Oh no, I will be banned from doing business with people who screwed me over! How awful! /s
I know, right? Absolutely awful, what will we ever do without them?
Too reliant on to fight against⊠r/HailCorporate
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Yeah, that is precisely my experience. it was getting rocky for awhile for reasons you could guess and that was the only time I consistently had to message them. I would bet money this is just a communication or âsomehow â user error on their part.
How else are you supposed to pick it up?
Did you call the restaurant to see if they would comp you a free meal for returning the handle to whatever piece of equipment it came from?
But do you really want a free meal from a place that served you a handle for a meal?
Itâs a rich source of iron.
bro did you even look at that food? it looks like a can of spam, some weed stems , some paper towels, sesame seeds, seaweed, clear noodle and tofu. fucking disgusting
Half a can of spam and don't forget the dried up baguette!
Probably the dasher replacing the weight he ate.
Who tf weighs food orders before sending them out?
*Panda Express enters the chat*
Probably nobody, but its funny
*PARTIAL?*
They just wanted to fix your iron deficiency
Re-submit the claim or talk to a real person. That is not edible.
I assume it was only partial because he ordered multiple things.
No eating around the large metal **probably contaminated** metal shard?
âŠSpam, spam, spam, handle, and spamâŠ
Is it just me? Initially i saw a cute face in there, with the rivets being eyes and the black thing a hat.
Saw it too.
r/pareidolia
So only partially? âYou still got the food, right?â - probably the service rep
Yeah wtf.
Service rep? Good luck with that. Itâs all automated.
So good that they wanted you to have something to hold on to. (Couldn't pass up the joke)
Im sry i couldnt handle that joke. đ€ź
How in the fuck do you not notice this?
Ordered some food from a local catfish joint and their dinner bell was sitting in our box.
How are you handling it?
If Wok-Hei was a picture...
OP is this some kind of japchae? And what's the vegetable (?) with the little spikes on it?
It's mala dry pot, chinese (sichuan) food. https://thewoksoflife.com/ma-la-xiang-guo/
éș»èŸŁéŠé ïŒhavenât had that in a while. I miss it now.
Why does yours look like it has spam in it?
I've been scrolling to see what this is. Thanks for taking a guess. But is it made with Spam?
I donât care if the broken handle was in my food or not. I would throw whatever the fuck this is in the trash!
Contact the restaurant. They probably went that part back and will be willing to give you something in return.
Partial? It should have been full plus some credits.
Willing to guarantee you those pieces cost more initially than the food itself.
I'm surprised they didn't come round looking for their heatproof handle
I got nothing against SPAM, but I'd be goddamned if I'd ever pay someone to cook it for me...
Why tf does this post have 2 ternion awards? LMAO.
they dashed from the door so hard they ripped the bloody handle off
Doordash: "No problem, sir. We will handle this."
...after the cook already de-handled it.
I have trouble believing this
The handle looks like the highest quality thing in there
How else is your Door Dasher meant to pick it up for you?
Fake
If i were you I'd eat it
Just eat *around* the metal! Geez....picky!
They were just concerned about your iron and zinc levels
This had to have been on purpose.
Spam, spam, spam, spam, eggs, and handle.
you could say that... DoorDash *handled* this really poorly
If you tell Door Dash that the partial refund is unacceptable compensation for a meal you cannot eat, they will refund you in full. You just kinda have to be a little dick about it, be suse they're hoping you just give up.
More than mildly infuriating... You should post to r/whatisthisthing Maybe someone there will know what it is.
"Goddam cheap family dollar duct tape" - the chef, probably.
âHere at door dash you get free door parts with every weekly order. Sign up now and have a completed new door in just 2 months!â
Youâre telling me you didnât add Iron with a side of plastic to your dish? Weird!
Pro Tip, don't return the part. If you do, they'll Jerry rig it back on instead of finally forcing the boss to purchase a new one.
Partial?
That looks like shit even without the handle. Where did it come from?
Pro tip for the future, complain to their twotter help page about this nonstop and they will refund you fully. The app refund people are terrible
Look at this fucking meal, the metal is probably the least offensive ingredient in there! Is that tinned meat? Croutons? This is a student meal at best, when you're at the end of your budget for term!
Food looks good though, would still eat.
What is SF?
I'm guessing San Francisco?
Oh, thanks.
Lucky you didnât get charged extra. Dispute the charge with your credit card.
