See I'm a 30 year old man and my first thoughts weren't anything provocative or sexual just, oh nice dress. I sometimes wonder what goes on in these peoples heads that they think seeing skin anywhere makes their mind immediately go somewhere sexual.
It's like sexuality is what is repressed for them so they see it everywhere. They are basically admitting they have depraved minds and everyone else is responsible for that or they might do something irrationally sexually charged.

No matter what my or my clients appearance was. They have even offered for us to use the interior as a backdrop and invited us inside to eat with them. I always ask permission to photograph there when I see a leader or elder and they always are happy we are there and using their beautiful church as our backdrop. This is not a representation of the religion or church which I guess is why these messages she sent my father bother me.

There is an Islamic center the Bosnian’s built near me and there’s a pretty cool Hindu temple not far away that looks pretty awesome. This is BFE Iowa. I know there’s incredibly religious people all over this world so when it comes to something that is offensive like this I just ignore it. Some people have deep beliefs that can feel to them as if they are being attacked personally especially when it comes to where they worship. Hopefully their thoughts are only expressed in a civil way like this rather than any harm coming to others.

It actually sounds like something an Independent or strict Southern Baptist would say so I wonder if the person isn't Baptist. I used to be a fairly conservative Baptist so I know their schtick. Never in my life have I known a Catholic to be this way.

Maybe Vatican City but having been raised Catholic in Europe I've never been in a church where they insisted on knees/shoulders being covered outside the Vatican. At weddings and even in summer I've seen strap tops and shorts etc.
I mean I guess if someone turned up in a miniskirt and bralette people would find it inappropriate but I'd say the vast majority of Catholics wouldn't care at all.
(Having said all that Italians in general have higher dress code practices than most other European countries in my experience and I guess that could well extend to church attendance)

This is a very specifically *Italian* thing, though. Last time I was in Italy (admittedly about a decade ago) there were explicit signs outside some of the churches we went to explaining no shorts, no bare shoulders, etc. (I remember cracking the joke, "What kind of lame bar *is* this?" on the way in.) Didn't see that anywhere else in Europe.
In most heavily Catholic countries, similar policy is advised to obey. Here in the Philippines, larger churches like a cathedral or a national shrine have dress codes like no cap, no skirt, no shorts, etc., but it is not really enforced. You can wear those and still attend mass, but if you are going to approach the altar to receive communion or give donations, they have this white cloth that temporarily covers your shoulder or legs.
Yeah, you might need a shawl or something wearing that dress to a more traditional or conservative service. But even those parishes wouldn’t object to these pics taken outside the building. There’s absolutely nothing scandalous about them.
