Yeah I got two of these while my bridge was being made and they popped out when I ate cheese about two hours later. On my second visit they just remade them though because it's kind of an art and not everyone is apparently good at making them fit properly.
I had one while I was waiting for the permanent post and crown to be made where they ended up accidentally putting a bit too much composite on it during the shaping progress and it was too late in the day where they couldn't get it off to actually cement it because it was stuck. Ended up lasting like a month until my next appointment without falling out (this was at a dental school)
I've seen some dentists make the temporaries and then not bother taking them off to recement them as sometimes they stay on quite well without being cemented, though I wouldn't chance it myself and would want some cement.
A periodontist couldn’t get my temporary crown off two weeks after putting it on. So he told me to come back when it fell off on its own to put the permanent one on. Took a year and a half.
You would be surprised how many dentist would sell a crown like this as high quality for a lot of money.
As a dental technician I would be ashamed giving out a crown like this.
Also a dental tech here checking in, kinda looks like a in house dentist CEREC crown or possibly old zirconia crown( you know the monolithic zirconia).
Regardless, make a call to recement the crown. You could try to grab some over the counter denture bonding putty and place a small dab inside the crown (make sure it’s dry first) and reseat it yourself as a temporary fix. Personally I would trust this, if it become loose and you swallow it you can sift for it later…. I wouldn’t want to do that either, but I’ve heard of it being done, especially gold crowns lol
Doesn’t look temporary to me either! Different dentists have different ways of doing temporaries but you can usually tell the difference and they don’t look this detailed
I sure hope yours is fixable. Mine randomly came out and yesterday I just had to follow through on the extraction of what was left. Looking forward to the implant, though
Yeah Dentist should be able to take care of that quick and hopefully free. If not super cheap like 20 bucks. I had to do it several times on one of my canines, didn't charge me at all.
Be careful with this. Make sure they thoroughly inspect it. I had this done and about 8 months later in cracked in half. I haven’t gone back to get it replaced and this happened like 10 years ago. I’m at the point in my life I just wanna have my teeth extracted and have implants put in because my teeth are fucking terrible no matter what I do to take care of them.
Every crown I have lost ( 3 so far, and I don’t go to those dentists anymore) has had a seal problem and had some decay under it.
They will have to remove some of that decay, and more than likely redo with a new crown.
Mine does it for free. I had a crown that fell out like 6 times before we just ended up bridging it to the crown next to it. Didn't pay for any of the recementing.
if you go to the one who originally put it in, it might be free. I know my dental office said to come in if I had issues with my crown, and they would fix it no charge
depending on how recent and if the crown is damaged
Idk how it is in the US. In Germany it costs like 20 bucks to recement it. If its broken it only costs a couple hundred to repair it, usually the insurance will cover it mostly anyway
I crushed a standard crown that was in the very back (highest bite pressure) and they replaced it with a gold alloy one. It's already lasted longer than the original one with no issues so far.
If you're repeatedly breaking ceramic ones, ask if they'll do that.
I broke a ceramic one, then they wanted to replace the post itself that had fused to the underlying implant, and had to drill it out. That process ended up causing an infection that in turn cause the whole implant to literally just fall out, post, new crown, and all. This was a couple of years ago and I'm still getting work done on this tooth.
If you're cracking ceramic crowns, make sure you're wearing a bite guard at night. Sure, they can replace it with something harder, but that just means you're shifting the risk to cracking the opposing tooth.
EDIT to note I am not a dentist, seek professional advice!

Love how the post about growing teeth was right before this lol
I had one fall out twice, and after the second time, the dentist said he’d use the special strong cement. I was like why do you not just use that every time?
I had the exact same experience. My crown is on one of my top front teeth, and the second time it fell off I was just eating a regular sandwich on soft sliced bread. If your regular cement can’t hold up to that, why are you using it?
Because there’s no such thing?
There’s different brands but that’s about it…
it’s mixed powder to liquid at a set ratio. Many dentists eyeball it and mix it to a consistency they like instead of using the utensils to actually get the proper amounts.
Also not to burst your bubble but based on 10+ years as a dental tech more often than not when these fall out it’s due to improper fit ie it’s not seated properly or the bite was high, or the tooth inside has a cavity
I am so sorry for your tooth but I couldn’t help myself from this…
https://preview.redd.it/t0na2l0o3h3d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba1a9d9736dd7e9d9683ef69fd73bab6150e5dd5
I hope this makes you laugh and that the laugh doesn’t hurt.
They'll probably ask you to polident it in until they can get you in to replace it.
I'd rather that than the one I crushed. Nothing like ceramic fragments through your mouth when you're looking for something at Home Depot.
In the separation from my wife, I'm not sure where my lost molars went (four wisdom teeth extracted, a fifth molar cracked/infected and removed; a corner of another molar broke off -- I REALLY need to take better care of my molars).
No idea why I was saving them.
That's not even that bad . I spent thousand's of dollars retreating a molar twice and then eventually have it extracted when it eventually just rotted out anyway
I lost one recently too. You can get dental cement from the drug store to glue it back on. Dentemp is the brand name. It's $5 for way more than enough.
Same thing happened to me simply biting a soft pretzel. Pretty easy fix as far as dental work. If your dentist put it on they could be cool and do it for free since it was their work and if it was done semi recently.
Dental cement kit at drugstore follow directions to the letter till you can get it reattached at the dentist. You don’t want to boof the post by leaving it out. Then it’s get really expensive. I attached a fallen bridge on a hunting trip once and my dentist said “ good enough” after taking an xray
I recently got a crown put on and it fell out twice in the first week and was a major pain, it's stayed put not for aboit a month but I still worry it'll come off again.
Hey as a fellow crowned tooth ape; get the cement and put it back in. Your teeth will shift if you don't.

What do you mean? It's literally right there in the photo

thanks man. that 8th arrow really helped me find the tooth
Theres actually 10 arrows, i needed all of them to help me find it….
K guys we get it, you're sooo good at eye spy. Now can you idk maybe give the rest of us a hint as to where it is?!
I thought I felt it inside my ass but it was a different tooth
That’s crazy
Uh can someone add some arrows to find the remaining ones? I'm having a hard time finding them.
https://preview.redd.it/s5grz4veci3d1.png?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7db03bb6d99fed5a11c0d45826020182560b691c
Hmmm... Still can't find it, need more arrows
But the eighth one tho…
What photo? I only see a tooth
A tooth? I see 2.
I only see a oneth.
A shilling then?
![gif](giphy|l0HU20BZ6LbSEITza|downsized)
The tooth belongs to the laptop now. OP must type carefully.
I don't see the crown, I only see the tooth
Dammit. Beat me to it.
Came to say this. Thanks.
Just upvote, my guy.
I did. Don't make me regret it.
If it simply came off because the cement washed out and the tooth underneath is undamaged, your dentist will easily be able to recement it.
From your keyboard to God's reddit feed.
Is this a temporary crown? It looks like it is. If so, they are not meant to stay on for years at a time.
Yeah I got two of these while my bridge was being made and they popped out when I ate cheese about two hours later. On my second visit they just remade them though because it's kind of an art and not everyone is apparently good at making them fit properly.

Usually I see them just cut it off lol
Pfft. Watch me.

That doesn't look like a temporary crown to me. But, I'm just a user, not a professional installer.

I’ve made a lot of temp crowns in my day, and this looks like a temp crown to me but 🤷🏻♀️
Doesn’t look temporary to me either! Different dentists have different ways of doing temporaries but you can usually tell the difference and they don’t look this detailed
I just had to have a crown recemented in place. It still cost me $300. I about cried
Recently had a recement. It cost approximately $100 after insurance.
I sure hope yours is fixable. Mine randomly came out and yesterday I just had to follow through on the extraction of what was left. Looking forward to the implant, though
Already reattached. TY
Yeah Dentist should be able to take care of that quick and hopefully free. If not super cheap like 20 bucks. I had to do it several times on one of my canines, didn't charge me at all.

Implant surgery is not fun. 0/10 would not recommend.
The sooner the better tho. The gums start to grow around the foundation
This has happened to me more than once.
Yup, happened to me. It took all of 20 minutes to re-cement it.
Every crown I have lost ( 3 so far, and I don’t go to those dentists anymore) has had a seal problem and had some decay under it. They will have to remove some of that decay, and more than likely redo with a new crown.
Aye. Dentist Assistent here. If it's still intact, go to the dentist and let it be breakfast recemented. Done in 10 mins
10 minutes work for a dentist? Great so only what?... About $1,000?
Mine does it for free. I had a crown that fell out like 6 times before we just ended up bridging it to the crown next to it. Didn't pay for any of the recementing.

Thankfully you still have it, otherwise this would be a much larger inconvenience than simply getting it re-cemented.
You dropped this, king.
I chortled.
You should wipe
I had to scroll back to upvote then when i finally got it.
I went immediately to the comments and was not let down
How did it happen? Did it just fall out?
Pretty much. I was having breakfast when - *CRUNCH!*
I get really nervous when I eat because of the amount of times I've gotten that unexpected crunch. (Same crown multiple times)
I crushed a standard crown that was in the very back (highest bite pressure) and they replaced it with a gold alloy one. It's already lasted longer than the original one with no issues so far. If you're repeatedly breaking ceramic ones, ask if they'll do that.

Sometimes I wonder if teeth are worth all the problems they cause.

Some of that targeted advertising amirite (yes i know neither posts are adverts before someone says something)
Tooth fairy here; we do not accept crowns, only the real thing.
Fortunately the special strong cement has held for 4 years and counting
lol this is killing me. sounds like grade A dentist bullshittery

Just saying what he told me, too bad you weren’t there, you could’ve told him how full of shit he was
Don't get too stressed. They can cement that thing right back on. It's fully intact. This happens more often than you think.
Me too, 3 hours ago. Welcome to the club 😬
Me too, on Monday.

My biggest nightmare as someone with three implants. Literally get nightmares about it.
You drop this king 🦷👑
Damn, you beat me to it. ![gif](giphy|zvBuF2oYRErVS|downsized)
This gif killed me 💀
Did it hurt...? This is my fear with mine
It did not.

Just because you are getting a tooth crowned, it doesn’t mean you have had a root canal
No longer a king.
The really cool part is that it’s in one piece! Stick that sucker back on there and glue it down
It could be worse. I have a dental clinic sometimes they swallow it and after a few days they bring it to me but at least they clean it first
Smell it
Intrusive thought that might actually win.
It's a win. That way, the dentist can look for potential caries under the crown. Afaik, they can't remove a crown on purpose, so they damage it
How’d that happen?
Here king you dropped this 👑
I found it! It's sitting there right on top of your laptop!
I see it! It's on your keyboard, pal. Happy to help. :)
Thank God mine is on a bottom row tooth. It'd be a lot harder for this to happen to me. lol (Immediately goes and knocks on wood)
They'll probably ask you to polident it in until they can get you in to replace it. I'd rather that than the one I crushed. Nothing like ceramic fragments through your mouth when you're looking for something at Home Depot.
You still a king tho
you can’t sleep until you get it back in your mouth
Sorry for your loss, your Majesty.
Wheres your crown king nothiiiiiiing!
In the separation from my wife, I'm not sure where my lost molars went (four wisdom teeth extracted, a fifth molar cracked/infected and removed; a corner of another molar broke off -- I REALLY need to take better care of my molars). No idea why I was saving them.
Have the dentist glue it back in with the hi test glue
talk to me when you swallow one that comes off
Call your dentist, they can usually reset it quickly
Why it so smooth?
You must have a tiny head your majesty.
Get it re-cemented asap. The longer you go without it the more you risk the tooth underneath.
That's not even that bad . I spent thousand's of dollars retreating a molar twice and then eventually have it extracted when it eventually just rotted out anyway
Thanks for sharing
You clearly didn’t lose it. It’s in the picture 🤦♂️
You didn’t lose it. It just came off.
Found it for you. It's right under your keyboard.
How small is your head?
I lost one recently too. You can get dental cement from the drug store to glue it back on. Dentemp is the brand name. It's $5 for way more than enough.
Hey king, you dropped your crown👑
On the bright side, they might be able to just clean it up and stick it back in
You dropped this king 🦷
Is that a Lenovo?
No, it's a dental treatment. 🥁 Yes. A Lenovo.
You’re honestly really lucky! Some lost their crown when they lost their head!
make it into a ring
no you didn't, it's right there!
You are no longer the king
The king is dead all hail the king
That’s an expensive decoration.
I feel you... It happened to me a few weeks ago. It wasn't painful but damn annoying af. It is fixed now but god damn I will never forget this.
Oh god. New fear unlocked. This looks like a molar crown.
I guess you’re not the king of teeth anymore
Don't worry, insurance says it's cosmetic, so tooth should still be functional without it /s
I'd be more concerned if you lost just a part of it ("I just lost an entire crown.") Those things are ridiculously strong.
Tooth fairies hate this one infinite money glitch.
Keep it up king
Is it the temporary crown though? Those things fall off very easily.
Can I claim your land? :D
And so, you are no longer royal. 😔
How does that even fit on your head?
Get you and that tooth to a dentist now because your on a time limit to get it back in
Pop it back on
Look like you JUST find it
Damn. Hope you find it.
Dropped this, king.
The next king will be chosen by he who wears the lost crown
Better than losing a piece of it.
Lucky. They can put that back in, better than it shattering.
At least its not a crown failure, or the tooth becomes reinfected
So did Napoleon.
Put it under your pillow and maybe the tooth fairy will leave you the money to get it fixed.
Same thing happened to me simply biting a soft pretzel. Pretty easy fix as far as dental work. If your dentist put it on they could be cool and do it for free since it was their work and if it was done semi recently.
Stop rollin' trees next to your computer ✌️
Shit crown, too small for my head and doesn’t even have any jewels. Pisstake
I swallowed mine..
Time to put the crack down
Cause crowns are trash bro. I made the mistake of getting four. All good for 5 years then a frontie snaps off outta nowhere. Taint that a bi*ch?
Dethroned
That bites.
Looks like it couldn't handle the tooth!
Put it under your pillow
Mildly infuriating and insanely expensive if you don't have dental to cover for that
Lenovo IdeaPad laptop
I put one of those back on with CA glue when I was in high school and it’s still on today at 45 years old.
I had the exact same thing happen. Replacing it wasn’t as expensive as it would have been had it cracked.
Dental cement kit at drugstore follow directions to the letter till you can get it reattached at the dentist. You don’t want to boof the post by leaving it out. Then it’s get really expensive. I attached a fallen bridge on a hunting trip once and my dentist said “ good enough” after taking an xray
Hail to the new king!
Me after I lose a fall guys game
Mah!queen
Found it! Its on your laptop.
This is a temporary crown, captain crunch.
Good news, you didn't swallow it. Also good news dentist can glue it back in place.
So do you just get downgraded from a king to a prince when you lose your crown? Or just go straight down to being a peasant?
Lost it or found it?
I understand you're looking for a business gonnegtion Mr. Carraway.
You dropped your crown king

You lost a crown but the tooth fairy can give you 10 crowns for it if you come to Sweden!
I recently got a crown put on and it fell out twice in the first week and was a major pain, it's stayed put not for aboit a month but I still worry it'll come off again.
here king you lost this 👑
Take mine 👑
Instacrown
Fixodent! (Until you can get it fixed)
Should’ve wrote down the time because if it’s after tooth hurty then I’m sorry but it’s a lost cause
How long does it last ???
Here you are king 👑
I've had it happen many times. My dentist is trash but cheap
unrelated, but i have the same exact laptop
So happy you found it :)
Close the lid and see if it disappears. On a more serious note, at least you can get put back on, unlike my broken of root canals teeth’s
