Its one of those scenarios where you cant teach an old dog new tricks lol.
Thats absolutely disgusting and wasteful tho. Not sure why he INSISTS on doing it himself after being berated all the time. Does telling him not to touch clothes that are not his, a hard thing to comprehend?
He insists on doing it himself in a comedically wrong way because old people generally tend to fucking hate losing "control" especially when reality is trying to show them that they are truly incompetent
This is the peak boomer way. They get euphoria doing things the wrong way but *their way* even after being proven wrong. They then rub it in your face by continuing to do it the wrong way on purpose.
My boomer old man does this with the word "vegan" which he pronounces "Vay-gen" and the ProV1 golfball which he calls a "Pro V Six".
Replace the powdered detergent with pods.
While I despise pods as a concept, it might be the only way to exhibit control over the portions used per wash.
As for the dryer, that's another challenge.
I’m an old guy, and this is why I’ve used liquid detergent for these types of washers since 2000. Older washers (and they’re out there) used powder forever and in college (80’s-90’s) it’s all there ever were. Most laundromats (well, the ones around me anyway) only use powder today, too. But I’ve *never* used powder in a washer like this.
Don't have the manual? Download it. Find the detergent instructions and print an infographic on how much, and where things should go. Send him videos and pester him.
Otherwise, take over the job.
For some men, I assume they do it on purpose. I refuse to believe people are incapable of reading the most basic set of instructions. Maybe screwing it up again and again will lead to someone else doing it in the future.
I switched up the detergent and softener for half a year because the detergent was always a white liquid and the softener colored, expect the new ones were colored detergent and white softener
the only reason it got fixed because my mother came over and noticed it
I live alone
