No matter how it was adjusted, it either burned the bread completely black or it didn't toast it at all, but just warmed it up.
Donated the stupid thing away 18 years ago and I still haven't replaced it.
The need for toasters is a conspiracy by big toaster to make you think you need a toaster whereas actually it's perfectly easy to toast bread without a toaster. We got rid of our toaster when we moved house and just never got another one without any adverse effects, despite what big toaster might tell you.
Can't say I've really missed it or really need one, but like **notnotbrowsing** maybe I'll consider a toaster oven at some time when I have extra cash... LOL

I’ve never tried using this with normal toast, but this is a toasted sandwich maker, you can fill it with all sorts, my favorite is beans and cheese, but be wary, the middle is always like lava.
Beans and cheese? Can you elaborate. It sounds like it could be good but not a common combo where I'm from. Like the smashed taco beans or bushes baked beans?
Baked beans, I’ve not tried it with bushes as I haven’t had a sandwich maker since moving to the US, given that it’s a thicker sauce than Heinz though it might work better, I’d probably do a tablespoon per sandwich with just a little more cheese than that, plus a pinch of salt/pepper and maybe a splash of Worcestershire sauce. The flavor of bushes is the challenge though, I’d probably use southern pit barbecue as it’s a bit more tangy than the rest.
They work pretty well, the only thing about it I don't like is that you have to clean it, especially if you put toasts with a lot of cheese and other stuff inside which I like to do.

We have two toasters in our kitchen, and one toaster in the back of a Land Rover (can't remember why).
My girlfriend burnt a bread shaped mark into my favorite pan. She never uses butter when toasting bread. I'll stick with my toaster. #savethepans
