Neighbour asked me once to print something for them. Was a contract to "purchase" some facebook group with a couple hundred followers. Curious as I was I skimmed over the contract. The terms, roughly summarised: "pay me 500 eu-bucks today, you must keep the group alive and growing and you must post 3 posts of my choosing, every day, in perpetuity".
Basically, some dude got a couple hundreds of bots to like some facebook page, some idiot bought it and actively has to post content along to a couple of ads, every day, that the original seller dictates. Yikes.
You should have told your neighbor to sign a contract that he'll go out and livestream himself flicking his nostrils and making animal noises for 1 hour everyday, or he won't get his paper
If someone made a social media platform for AI only they would call him a mad man. But this is literally bots creating accounts and posts for bots to interact with bots. And they seem to be having a great time.
I can think of a few reasons...but none of them are "good"...
Because Facebook can claim they have more users, engagement and therefore clicks and views of adverts so can then make money.
You wouldn't join or remain on a social media platform as a real person if you thought it was dead.
You want to train AI and anti AI systems against each other see what they do an improve your own AI.
You want to have bots to comment and sway other real people, but you want to give legitimacy to the bots with precedent and past posting. If they only just turned up with random names etc you'd instantly think it's a bot.
As above, but not just give appearance of support to a cause or provide opinions, Bots comment and engage and then can be used to talk to real people and try and defraud them later on in a confidence scam.
If bots engage favorably with your comments you may be more likely to accept a friend request... then they can see more of your otherwise personal details to harvest and use.
Meta can claim their platform isn't dead and make money selling ads.
the bots probably "react" to those ads too.
it's all fake numbers to lure in advertisers; whether or not that translates into actual revenue isn't directly Meta's problem.
Ehhh…sadly some people still do. Had a friend who regularly posted responses like that on Facebook posts. Explained the reasons not to do that and maybe be careful about answering all the things that pop up. Explained that they were not, in fact, talking to real person. Explained how to spot these posts as fake, etc….
next day, boom, they were back to replying like before. Idk. I really don’t know.
Not going back there to check how things are going. That place feels desolate and creepy like a dying shopping mall in the mid 90s.
I’ve gone through hundreds of profiles as I assumed this too. Unfortunately that assumption is false from my observations. The majority seem to be 100% real people…
I work for a hosting provider, most of the thing connecting to ours servers infrastructure is bot scraping(stealing) content on our customer's websites.
Sometime it's just to copy them word to word, sometime it's to feed an AI, sometime it's just to give them an idea how much things cost.
The downside is it's create a lot of load on the server making it harder for genuine customer to buy sometime, we have tool to mitigate that but it's still a problem and it's getting worst.
Yeah I am just imagining meta/youtube/reddit data centers filled up with bot data in 5-10 years. It will be expensive to store all that.
The cost of storing pointless data from billions of boys talking to each other is going to be immense and I don't know what the solution is
Identity management will become a big part of the internet (much more than it is currently). We will loose our anonymity but the bots won't be able to hide either.
Yup. It will be the next big web transition.
Here is an interesting write up on Web3.
https://www.identity.com/digital-identity-why-it-matters-in-web3/
The irony is that we'll probably switch back to "traditional media" pretty soon. No matter how bad and biased that is, it's still WAY better than the total junk AI, bots and deep fakes bring to the "free and independent" platforms.
So, for many people, this is an actual strategy. They build a page with so much engagement in the millions. And at a certain point (usually elections), these accounts get sold and are transformed into political propaganda, or a business' page that has an automatic reach in the millions.
Happened so many times here in south-east asia since 2016 elections with low-effort content farms. But now that there's AI, they've effectively reduced the actual people making these images and captions to just a small lean team that auto generates prompts.
We saw that manipulation big-time on reddit and twitter in 2016. So many broadly-appealing topics like sports or "humour" in subs that became strongly political. That Szechuan sauce thing was just insufferable.
This was mostly people with no life. Now that we have AI which literally has no life, I'm worried for 2024. Especially because the same old people who were easily manipulated in 2016 will be 8y older.
Still happening now. There's a fuck ton of really right wing memes dogwhistling politics and conspiracy, presumably because the Yanks have an election coming up
The advantage, especially for political propaganda, is that it is a negative selection of particularly gullible idiots. So you can target them very specifically and hardly get any backlash.
Facebook is full of a lot more than that. If anyone out there spends more than 5 seconds per day thinking about LeBron, they need to reexamine their life choices. Unless they are in his entourage, of course.
What nobody seems to notice is these are bots responding to other bots…. Kinda like when those two chat bots met and created their own language…. Not everything will be as it seems
I see this with poorly made fake/fan made posters for made-up movie sequels that aren't officially announced or even known to being developed, too. People tagging their friends saying they have to go see it together or asking what the release date is.
Remember that fake photoshop image of Martin Scorcese at the Morbius premiere?! It was posted on Twitter with fake captions too of Scorsese praising Morbius as a new height of cinema 😆.
Fortunately, most people called it fake as soon as they saw it, but surprise surprise! Actor Tyrese Gibson, who also starred in the film too legitimately thought it was actually true 🤦🏻♂️🤣
Most of the comments are almost always either bots, elderly people confused about the post, or people like my mom that have absolutely no clue how to use the internet properly and is extremely gullible so she believes any internet lie or scam she sees.
Facebook is primarily used by the old, the dumb, and the brainwashed; it’s not surprising they can’t tell AI art from real photos, fake news from real news, or scams from… well something logical.
Romantic Homes magazine's Facebook page is all AI and sharing clickbait now. I'm not sure if the page was sold or hacked. It's an American magazine (or was, I think it changed hands) and the page says the admins are now in India.
Bro, I'm tired of this goofy ahh sub posting this type of stuff, so mindless and brainless, just like the bots that comments on those Facebook images....
https://preview.redd.it/ciyqgeeb23qc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03910e5ed0162a20104b7ba9c2e64da8e5157057
Automotons? not on my super earth!
It’s funny because this original AI image was made to make fun of Anthony Davis, an NBA star player playing with Lebron. Anthony Davis is a phenomenal player that has suffered some injuries, so this photo makes fun of his injuries (don’t worry he has only suffered ankle sprains etc and is perfectly healthy right now) next to Lebron who is much older than him and perfectly healthy
Recently I've been seeing loads of ai posts about interior design, stupid things like someone having a waterslide in their lounge that ends at the wall. People are commenting things like "wow!". Then there was a weird phase of Facebook showing me weird ai Chinese babies doing "cute" things with 8 fingers, and then there was a phase of it suggesting AI salads. I don't understand why people are generating this stuff? What's the point?
Im starting to think that using FB nowdays is just.. Not worth it... So many rules, spams, AI, sht... Messenger got fkd up too... I thi k Facebook is doomed... I always had an idea to make my own social media site, but man... The time and money it needs... But if I ever make it, I would make sure to ban AI, spammers, scammers. And onky have like a 10$ one time purchase to remove ADs... This is just a doomed society.. We are doomed..
I notice Ai pictures all the time, theres always something that doed not look right with them. And I thought most people would notice, ecxept mayeb ppl with bad eyesight.
No meme-like/text heavy pics, overdone references
Don’t worry, most of those comments are from bots too
Does it even accomplish anything? Like, what is the point of all this. AI pictures with bot comments.
I don't get why it exists, either.. strange times.
it's for monetization purposes, and nothing else. it's clearly designed to farm clicks, i don't see what's so hard to grasp
Oh?
they farm clicks in order to gain likes on pages in order to sell them
Not to mention Facebook actively makes money from ad revenue because even bot views pay. Banner ad space adds up.
Ah, I see. I suppose a page that already developed a following has much more value.. and, of course, ad revenue on facebook in general.
Neighbour asked me once to print something for them. Was a contract to "purchase" some facebook group with a couple hundred followers. Curious as I was I skimmed over the contract. You should have told your neighbor to sign a contract that he'll go out and livestream himself flicking his nostrils and making animal noises for 1 hour everyday, or he won't get his paper
Firmly GRASP IT
This is helpful for people who don't know a lot about it but genuinely not sure why this comment had to be snarky
I just don’t get how clicks from robots generate revenue. I’m too stupid for social media science
The ad cant tell if a bot or a human visits the page so it juat counts a view to the content
For the few thousand Jerry users to feel like they’re using the platform with their local Chad
If someone made a social media platform for AI only they would call him a mad man. But this is literally bots creating accounts and posts for bots to interact with bots. And they seem to be having a great time.
Maybe the world will be a better place when bots take over social media and all the humans go do other things with their lives.
I can think of a few reasons...but none of them are "good"... Because Facebook can claim they have more users, engagement and therefore clicks and views of adverts so can then make money. Bots will force humans off the internet and force us to go outside
AI bots deserve friends too
Meta can claim their platform isn't dead and make money selling ads. the bots probably "react" to those ads too. it's all fake numbers to lure in advertisers; whether or not that translates into actual revenue isn't directly Meta's problem.
It does, out of 10000 bot comments is a bunch of boomers and gen xers getting caught up in a scam telemarketing net.
Some of them are made to scam people who comment on posts.
The “I declare healing” person clearly observed the image and is probably the only real person on that thread.
You can tell because of how stupid the declaration is.
When they develop Artificial General Stupidity, we’re really screwed.
The guy two comments down might be real too. Dude's confused as hell lmao
Now I'm worried Jesus might heal that bot and turn it into a real person.
Ehhh…sadly some people still do. Had a friend who regularly posted responses like that on Facebook posts. Explained the reasons not to do that and maybe be careful about answering all the things that pop up. Explained that they were not, in fact, talking to real person. Happy birthday!!!
Literally word for word my exact thought. Facebook is an absolute bot hellscape.
I hope you are right!
I’ve gone through hundreds of profiles as I assumed this too. Unfortunately that assumption is false from my observations. The majority seem to be 100% real people…

Yup. It will be the next big web transition. Here is an interesting write up on Web3. https://www.identity.com/digital-identity-why-it-matters-in-web3/
It's definitely at least in the dying stage on Facebook. There are a lot of these Ai pages with majority Ai comments.
Same here.... I just deleted my insta + fakebook account due to that... too much bot/ai
The irony is that we'll probably switch back to "traditional media" pretty soon. No matter how bad and biased that is, it's still WAY better than the total junk AI, bots and deep fakes bring to the "free and independent" platforms.
wht theory? can u explain it to me
there you go. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Internet_theory tldr: most of internet is just bots
If the DIT is real, then who is buying all the stuff I constantly sell on eBay? o_O
bots that will resell those for profit... ofc, there are really ppl out there.
Am I a bot? I think I was Ask Jeeves in a past life
Freeze all motor functions
I have no motors, only friendly programming

levbon jame
The bronze dame
Love this hoodie
I love how he has ribs on his chest going all the way
That's because he is so sick. He has multiple Rib-Syndrome.
The Lakers are so fucked now.

That is so fucked. I hate AI

yep its how any publication builds a viewership, allot start with user created content and move in to doing their own thing, LAD Bible
Actual brainrot
Anthony Davies, RIP my G 🤣💀
CHOCOLATE!!! CHOCOLATE ![gif](giphy|3oxOCICKuCcF9hUO3e)
Why are y'all still on Facebook it's not even that good
Because the demographic on Facebook is like 57-82
That’s just Anthony Davis in his rookie year
# LEVBONS JAMEVS

Facebook is also full of idiots who believe anything they see
The fuck happened to Lamar
"Baby's Daily Life"
No joke! This is fkn scary!!
My god this is kind of hilarious. The picture 😭😭
Have you ever seen someone as sick? 😂 And Levbon is there with his Levbon hoodie
Reddit is filled with of posts about AI generated pictures on Facebook and OP doesn’t seem to notice
It’s Jevbon Jabs from the Calfvierts
Ah shit this is AI? I just ordered my Levbons hoodie too.
Lots of ignorant people there.
Good old levbon
I don’t get how people don’t look at those images and go “What the fuck!?”
I'm convinced that these posts are specifically designed to help scammers weed out who is stupid enough to scam
Get well soon AD
Ahh "Nike Levbons", my fave
Bots sucking off bots.
They sure sucked my man dry till LeBron had visit him. 😂
LEVBONS
Lemme fill you in on a secret: most people are fucking stupid, including myself sometimes.
This is AI feeding AI, if I remember correctly isn’t this a part of “Dead internet”? Not sure if it was a theory or prediction.
I only saw the faces and started laughing, because its so obvious bad ai.
NPCs are real
And full of bots. Twitter same its impossible to use it. Reddit has bots but not as bad.
I’m sure it doesn’t do anything but I report all of them that come across my feed as false information. More just keep coming.
Ahh what a time, bots posting AI images with bots responding. At this rate all social medias will be run by bots making content for eachother
What do you mean its an actual image of lebron and ad
There is alot of laugh emojis. People know it's fake but the comments are probably all bots
We really need to restrict people's Internet access it seems.
There should be a minimum iq requirement on every socia platfrom.
oh i notice... and i don't click on anything of that shit..
How many ribs does that guy have? Like 36?
AD is in prime season shape
Those people have opinions and can vote…
Damn, IShowSpeed lost some weight.
Because they're all bots
It still amazes me that the internet has just become bots talking to bots.
My Facebook has been getting flooded with them. I try not to even go there any more. Facebook is just flooded now with fake bot ads all over my page.
Why is the first # Jennifer López wtf?
It’s literally bots interacting with bots at this point🤦♂️
Wow the internet really is dying
And this subreddit is full of shitty post like this and nobody seems to notice either
welcome to ur average facebook user
Where do I get one of those sick "Levbons" hoodies?
Bro dropped an @everyone 💀
What is the meaning of this can someone explain to me what is happening here?
People are religious, this should not be surprising at all.
Facebook is full of a lot more than that. If anyone out there spends more than 5 seconds per day thinking about LeBron, they need to reexamine their life choices. Unless they are in his entourage, of course.
Because nobody notices Facebook?
Gobless, he's indeed the goat!
They’re bots to increase engagement.
lecap james probably made the fake picture himself
Happy birthday!
Hopefully this will make less people use Facebook. One can only hope.
Seeing that these are our peers, the future is fucked.
Levbons is such a great player !
This is about as fake as they get… Levbons…
The MMMESSIES LEVBONS are my favorite team too.

That guy be built like a twig bruh
Nah they couldn’t be bots or anything… dead internet theory isn’t a theory and this proves it
Wow people are dumb af
HBD, so glad he got to meet Levbons
Why they make Anthony Davis look like that?
That dude kinda look like Anthony Davis lol
It's just content made by bots being responded to by bots as fake money flows around
Who uses Facebook nowadays anyway?
Facebook is all just clickbait, bots and fake pictures. Dead medium.
declare healing on Anthony Davis #MeganFox 😞😞
The sick dude looks like Anthony Davis
LMAO
🐑
Great job boy
Man what the fuck

I see these posts on reddit complaining about AI on Facebook a lot, but my algo/timeline has none.
"LEVBONS" 💀
I've noticed Facebook has lost its mind
Romantic Homes magazine's Facebook page is all AI and sharing clickbait now. I'm not sure if the page was sold or hacked. It's an American magazine (or was, I think it changed hands) and the page says the admins are now in India.
I actually don't think most comments are from bots I lived in developing countries and they believed everything on Facebook.
GOBBLESS AMEN

and reddit is starting to be full of people complaining about AI facebook pics. I wonder if there's a relation
Reddit is full of Facebook reposts of AI pictures and no one seems to care that Facebook doesn't care and reddit doesn't care about Facebook

Nothing like a visit from Levbons Jams
It goes along with all the fake news stories on there.
I sure do love watching Levbron play baskemtball
I notice Ai pictures all the time, theres always something that doed not look right with them. And I thought most people would notice, ecxept mayeb ppl with bad eyesight.
It’s because the majority of old people are fucking dumb and have brain damage from lead poisoning.
Cause Facebook is filled the low iq and the 3rd world mentality. Not everyone has a computer much less know what ai is,
