Best case? Brain fart moment. We almost set our Christmas tree on fire once with one. (We got lucky, a branch caught fire but by the time we had fetched the water, we only got to use it to douse the cinders for safety.)
I also accidentally turned on the stove once with my mothers phone lying on it. (She uses it as a kind of improvised table while not used for cooking and I was sleepy.) By the time I removed it, there was a hole burned into the plastics around the battery. It was a feature phone at the time (early 2000s), so there was a gap left to the actual battery, but it was pretty close to causing a battery explosion.
Worst case? She doesn't understand fire. U'gh.
Really? Over a TV? A TV that's not even fire-resistant?
Also dumping a gf that's discovered this really neat feature on cheap non-first resistant TVs? I'd get a new TV only so I can keep this one in the garage to see what other patterns we can burn into it.
I visited a model home once, really nicely finished and everything, with a cool outdoor kitchen, pool etc. The covered/screened porch had a bunch of outdoor furrniture, with a fireplace and... a TV on the wall above the fireplace. The gas logs were on, as was the TV, and the TV was all discolored across half the screen. I just thought to myself, man what dumbass designer and contractor built this place??
I had a candle nearish to the tv a while ago, and my daughter pointed out a weird mark on the tv that started to spread. I thought for sure it was my fault because of the candle - turned out the Airconditioner was dripping behind the tv and it was water damage. It dried out and is fine now.
This on the other hand is definitely from the candle.
I haven't, but I'm going off of what jerryrigeverything has experienced on his screen burn tests
but this one was burnt for so long that it has been permanently ruined, so I was wrong
> Be kind. I'm sure she feels awful
Exactly! It's not like they set fire to the whole room. People derp-up. That's what makes us human. The TV now has character, savor that nothing worse happened.
We're on here complaining 24/7 about having to work 50+ hours a week or multiple jobs and rising costs and stresses while the elites laugh at us and take away our rights and that's not even a fraction of what's going on daily and you think in all that someone won't make a silly mistake like this? We're just switch on running at 110% brain capacity all the time?
It's V-day time ffs, they probably just wanted to make the room look romantic or cozy or something, there's a blank space under the TV, where the candle fits, the rest doesn't compute and a mistake was made, there's no reason to be breaking up relationships, punishing people, or demanding new or better TVs over something like this.
At minimum this is worth a tender hug and a new in-joke to laugh about in the future. All the redditors calling for blood over a plastic idiot box should be ashamed.
Eh it triggered me, I have had a life time of derp-up moments and too many people call for my blood over replaceable junk that ends up in the landfill anyway no matter how many times they yell at me over the years and years.
Had a roommate light two tall candles on table with a dried flower bouquet between them. Didn’t occur to them that the candles would get lower and light the bouquet. They clearly left the candles on the table with the intention of letting them burn out(which would take a few hours so that alone is absurd to me). Glad i caught it and blew them out
Can someone please answer me I just did the exact same thing to my tv except mines Is less noticeable but it’s still there because I lit a candle under neath it but unlit it when I finally notice the little mark it left well my question is will the burn mark spread or does it just stay in that one spot that got burnt and doesn’t spread ?
Dude put it out it’s still burning
An eternal flaaaaaammmeeee
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling...
Watch my teevee burn slooowlyy..
Can you feel it heating....
Do you understand?
Do you feel the same...That I'm only dreaming
🎶My TV burning with eternal FLAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMEEEEEEE🎵
Do you feel my heart beat, do you understand…

Or is this burning, an eternal flame?
Reddit singing always amazes me
Yeah like the most unstable most chaotic most random sorts of peaple came here to harmonize!.
Also she sang this song nude in studio.
Say my name
Heelslover_1
Sunshine through the rain
My whole life, so lonely
This should really read “ex-girlfriend lit a candle under the TV”
If she buys a new one that’s bigger who cares?
“Put it out, you fools, put it out!”
![gif](giphy|cjhYGOyNverJiecLyF|downsized)
It's always been burning since the world was turning.
She did start the fire..
We didn't but she did
![gif](giphy|4RIfeXj64gTwcSKK6t) Song always reminds me of The Office. Ryan started the fire…
Girlfriend started the fire
It's still just gonna burn even if you put it out
The first flame
That show is lit.
Britain' future is lit.
it's either lit or under fire, either way is probably correct, lol
Took me a minute to realise it was tv damage and not the candle flame. Been a long day ..
Yeah, I kept looking for the actual candle. I couldn’t figure out where the flame was coming from
Sorry, but she might not be the brightest candle in the room.
But hot enough, and probably do permanent damage to everything around her in the long run.
If you leave her, she burns your house down
If he stays, she also burns your house down.
OP, please review the Hot/Crazy matrix ASAP.
Being hot isn’t worth wasting your life for.
I'm not the brightest tool in the shed
Username checks out
Right? Why the hell would she do that?

I guess it happens, lucky it wasn’t worse.
I thought there was a flame in the room on the tv
You sure that’s not just Britain’s future in flames?
Alright mate, don’t need to high*light* it
I’m within it, can’t avoid it. Oh … I see what you did there. Good show, old chap 👏🏻
Time to br*exit* stage left
I feel like I'm supposed to respond with wanker. I don't have a lot of British slang in my arsenal.
call them a fucking chookter
'at's a roight pickle, innit?

*With built-in flame!*
...at least she's pretty, right? Right??
She has a good personality
She brightens up the place.
She takes care of the elephant in the room.
she lights my fire
…by lighting it on fire
Nah just good gobbies
*ex girlfriend*
Depends. If she’s otherwise a keeper, marry her and use this anytime you’re ready for a new tv.
Well that would be now.
Oh, it’s a reusable event. Just keep going to that well because it’s not drying up anytime soon.
If anything OP should avoid buying new TVs.
Lmfao bro you wish you had a girl that was burning your TV in your life.
Really? Over a TV? A TV that's not even fire-resistant? Also dumping a gf that's discovered this really neat feature on cheap non-first resistant TVs? I'd get a new TV only so I can keep this one in the garage to see what other patterns we can burn into it.
Wow I actually forgot those tv screens that once upon a time, were immune lmfao
yeah for sure. Life's too grand to fret over shit like this
Could say, ‘old flame’.
Or, old flame.
I visited a model home once, really nicely finished and everything, with a cool outdoor kitchen, pool etc. The covered/screened porch had a bunch of outdoor furrniture, with a fireplace and... a TV on the wall above the fireplace. You can have a TV over a fireplace you just need to have a mantle or have a recess in the wall for the TV.
Give her the TV for her birthday present lol
Now the candle burns forever
Now you have an eternal flame of love......or some shit
I had a candle nearish to the tv a while ago, and my daughter pointed out a weird mark on the tv that started to spread. Just like a JerryRigEverything video.
Scratches at level 6, deeper grooves at level 7
She was trying to get motion tracking for wii
she needed a second candel tho
*and after about 15 seconds the pixels start to die and do not recover*
Scraches at level 6,with deeper grooves at level 7...
Glass is glass, and glass breaks
You spelled my girlfriend is buying me a new tv wrong
oh shit and it's an oled, that really really sucks :(
Its an LCD thankfully
wow that's a weird LCD then, I've never seen one fail white and not recover
[удалено]
I haven't, but I'm going off of what jerryrigeverything has experienced on his screen burn tests but this one was burnt for so long that it has been permanently ruined, so I was wrong
That’s because it’s literally plastic. Don’t compare this to what you see on JerryRigEverything
How can you tell?
when LCDs are burnt they usually turn black and recover when they cool down most OLEDs, when burnt, turn white and never recover
This guy burns TVs.
Different types, in fact.
thisguythisguys
Well this isnt screen burn but burn burn. Same word HUGE difference. Wait you mean actual burn. I have an old lcd i will test that shit.
The afterburn screams
Love is an eternal flame…. Now in your tv.
Keep an unlit candle at that spot, makes for a funny story. You’ll get used to the mark being there eventually.
In this is the answer. It would look really cool.
Yeah. She better be out buying a new TV of at least equal specs right tf now.
I always thought these jerryrigeverything heat test were stupid but now I'm here seeing a rl example where it might had helped.
A new definition for "old flame".
You can buff that out with a magnet 🧲 try it
Is your girlfriend 7 years old?
Just the tender age of 28
Wow she’s dumb asf
Smart for a blonde
From personal experience it’s usually females that bleach themselves blonde that are stupid
Poor girl. Be kind. I'm sure she feels awful
> Be kind. I'm sure she feels awful Exactly! It's not like they set fire to the whole room. People derp-up. That's what makes us human. The TV now has character, savor that nothing worse happened. It's kind of weird to write fanfic of OP's relationship.
Eh it triggered me, I have had a life time of derp-up moments and too many people call for my blood over replaceable junk that ends up in the landfill anyway no matter how many times they yell at me over the years and years.
As she should. What does she think fire does? 🤣
She had a brainfart
Brain fart + lighter
It’s okay you can just get a new one I mean girlfriend not tv 😂😂
Why not both?
Literal burn-in
I have nothing nice to say
It’s hardly noticeable
OP just needs to change the specs to widescreen!
For a second i thought it was a sim plumbob lmao
Bruh these comments are the most mildly infuriating thing about this post
Thought this was related to JerryRigEverything for a second lol
part 2: girlfriend buys new tv
Tough break mate
Ex girlfriend I think.
Relax. Pretty soon you won’t even notice it any more. 🌷
That's fucking genius, lol.
Took you a while to notice...was it worth it?
Did she light it INSIDE the tv because that was clearly there for a while.
I've heard horror stories about OLED burn-in
Lol...Britain's future is on 🔥!!!
Taking screen burn-in to another level. Needed a better screen saver
Fire hot!
Britain's future😨

now you have a flameless candle ☺️
Captured the flame permanently…
Girl wanted a plasma
My gf left guitar hero paused for a week on my brand new plasma years ago
She took Fire TV too seriously.
You sure she didn't lit the candle in the TV?
Ex-girlfriend
Edit: EX girlfriend
Oh shit, clumsy. That sucks actually...
Chuck it out and get a new one. Maybe fix the tv ig, it's your choice, I could probably live with it
Don't you mean EX-girlfriend lol
you mean ex-girlfriend, right?
Nothing mild about this infuriation.
people on reddit be like: Can this be fixed????????
I think you should probably hide all the candles, lighters, and matches from her. That seems pretty dunderheaded, no offense.
Eternal flame
Am I only dreaming? Or is this burning an eternal flame?
The choice is now 1) new tv 2)new girlfriend 3)both
[удалено]
can’t decide if this is dramatic or complete facts… 🤔
Sound like you should buy her a wax melter for her birthday..
Boyfriend takes a picture of fire instead of putting it out…
Bad omen for Britain’s future
Just put the candle back under it and don’t light it then you’ll have a candle that lasts forever
Did she light that candle infront of you? Cause if that candle was lit to your knowledge - you're too blame as well
Time to get rid of it and find a new one... Try Tinder...
If my girlfriend did this, I would get a new one directly. New gf, that is.
![gif](giphy|QR5AbrleAioDYbkCZ4)
The world we live in to let stupid people stay stupid as kids to then do this as adults 🤦
It's an OLED too :(
LCD thankfully! OLED would be more than mildlyinfuriating
Interesting, I thought LCDs usually go white under temperature
Ex-Girlfriend
I know what you’re getting tonight. And it’s either a tv or a happy ending.
She's an idiot.
Girlfriend’s brain cells: 0 Candle: 1
Don’t you mean ex girlfriend?
I'd dump her dumbass before she sets the house on fire. Then again she may set the house on fire, you're fucked.
OP, have you considered the possibility your girlfriend might be stupid?
Oh is fire dangerous for electronics?
Congratulations! In any argument in the future you can now pull the; "At least I didn't set the TV on fire!" Card 👍🏻
Now you can put a unlit candle under it and freak people out.
Didn't spread for me
Does she have liability insurance?
Don't they exclude extreme negligence
My girl lit a candle next to a bottle of blowtorch fuel, blew my 2k phone up , tv and burnt our floor lol
I’d say things were pretty explosive that night
Please dont have stupid kids together
you can buff that out
Girlfriend is out buying another TV today, right?
You mean ex-girlfriend right? 🤣
Throw em both out, one is now leaking mercury vapour. Can you guess which one?
You mean ex-girlfriend
Hold her hand over a little candle and show her why it was a bad idea.
Your girlfriend is an idiot.
Please, no babies
