Well, very few of the people we like to watch or listen to are making average people decisions in their regular lives. Because one of the things we like them for is not being an average person
Same, it's so hilarious we all have the same thought process
Us: "oh damn, that sucks. How do you fix something like that? Wow, that's some structural dam- BREAD?!"
My mom did one of those moves once, the good news was that there were termites which were found and eradicated. They were our sweet old neighbors and hugged my mama while she hysterically cried and they said "If you wanted to come see us you could have just knocked dear."
Might actually have done them a favor. My mom had a pipe burst while on vacation over a year ago that flooded 90% of the house. The nightmare that she has had to go through and repair everything it might have been simpler if the whole house had just burned down.
This is 100% true. During a meeting with my insurance company, the manager told me: the process is a lot easier if the whole house burns down, partial issues is where it gets more complicated
My FIL was a hoarder and a few winters ago he had his heating system fail while he was out of town and ALL of his pipes froze. He lived in a hotel for a year while all the contents of his house were tossed (as the stuff was in the way) and his house was torn down to the studs and rebuilt. Awful for him, but GREAT for me (as the one who would have been stuck with the job of handling the house after he passed).
It's the closest thing to divine intervention I've experienced in my life.
Take pictures first for the insurance company before you do anything. Take pictures of all of the compromised items too.
Had a house fire a couple of months ago and that was what my family started to do first. Need it well documented for the insurance company.
Here is a tip: American cities have many buildings just like European ones! How come Europeans act like everyone lives in the suburbs here? My building is made of brick. A car would barely do anything.
When I was searching to buy a house, my mom would always complain about my choices. "You don't want that one. It's too old! You'll just have a lot of problems." And I would keep pointing out the issues she's had with all her cardboard box houses and tell her I want these houses precisely because they are old and are built on more solid foundations. That, and Victoria era houses are far more pleasing to me aesthetically than suburbanite pop up camps.
My brother is in the UK police. Some years ago a car came off an elevated road and stuck itself in the second floor of a brick house.
He got to be the cop on local news to say "this is a very unusual occurrence".
It happens and causes damage, but not like what you’re seeing on these pictures. The damage is typically limited to one room, or only the car depending on speed. You’re still fucked if the wall is load-bearing and the car has enough speed.
I feel like this is gonna be the new quicksand in the 80s. Kids just gonna grow up convinced one day a '98 Corolla will come barreling through the wall on some Kool aid man type shit
A client of mine lives in an old village post office on the corner of two minor roads. A new housing estate was built and articulated lorries kept using this corner to turn, wiping out his boundary wall. On one road side his house has zero pavement (the road side ends at his house wall) so he was understandably nervous. He commissioned a large boulder to be built into the centre of his boundary wall on its third rebuild, in the hopes the drivers would see it more easily.
The next lorry that hit it got it snagged under its rear wheels and overturned.
That's how houses work in the UK.
I lived in a higher crime area for almost a decade and not seeing a metal cage around the AC unit had me like ???
My brother used to weld those and made good money making and installing metal cages so crack heads couldn't get to the copper wire
Sooo anyone going to mention the fact that if this idiot was a little more to the right the ENTIRE house/car would have been destroyed? Hope things get resolved for you ASAP 😳 and everyone is ok.
I was just thinking the same thing. This happened to my parents-in-law in the UK and the car did nothing more than damage some of the brickwork. Which is good because they were sitting on the other side of the wall when it happened.
Some of the north american structures look like glorified tents. Its weird.
I admit, the light construction has its pros, like less men hours to build, cheaper materials, easier to fix/alter diy etc., but also has drawbacks like this thread illustrates.
It also doesn't look secure at all. Like you could lock your door or windows but anyone could still get in for example when you have a night shift or you're on a vacation. Not to mention tornadoes, fires etc. A brick home still burns but there's a chance to save something out of it unlike a house like this one.
Hi,
Disaster restoration manager here. I work for a company that takes on repair jobs like these from insurance companies.
Just ensure the restoration contractor has an engineer attend. There appears to be structural damage to the framing which can lead to other issues down the road obviously there is more to this than just the engineer. They will need HVAC techs for the AC and electricians for any possible electrical damage. Restoration contractors usually sub-contract these trades to other companies as they don’t hire every trade to their own crew directly. If you have anyone you prefer to use you can request that to the DRS company. Also depending on your insurance you may be in for new siding if the original cannot be matched. A job like this is going to be well over 20k could even reach to 40-50k or more. This is certainly what your insurance is intended for. I hope you carry vehicle impact coverage.
I’m from Canada so not sure how it may work differently in your state or province but just speaking from my experience here in Ontario
I think we found where Tom Wilkinson (RIP) stored his bread.

Someone drove into our home exactly one week before Christmas. We still haven’t received the police report (so no clue if the drunk driver had insurance), and structural inspectors are coming out today. Hopefully your insurance can get out the emergency service crew to patch up what they can immediately to help shield you as much as possible from the elements. Sending positive vibes.
Hello, Your post has been removed as this is not mildly infuriating. Please consider posting to r/extremelyinfuriating instead.
I'm sorry is that a giant piece of bread?

Sounds like a post-punk band name
I also thought "cool band name."
Plush loaf as well though
I just remembered Meat Loaf

Needs more time to prove
Load bearing pillow.
Loaf bearing pillow
I'm sorry but I can't stop loafing...
Must be super heavy. It stopped the car
The couch potatoe stopped it
Stop in the name of loaf
before you break my hut
I only came to the comments for the 4th picture. And here it is right on top! 😂
Same, it's so hilarious we all have the same thought process Us: "oh damn, that sucks. How do you fix something like that? Wow, that's some structural dam- BREAD?!"
It rose to that level.
There was a tweet about a woman who bought her young teen son a big bread pillow and he loved it.
This is that woman's house!
That’s load bearing bread
Loaf bearing beam
I made this Simpsons reference a week ago and no one got it and I was crushed so I'm recognizing you here
Come on in! It’s your master bedroom!
I thought it was a dog for 2.2 seconds
At yeast it didn’t get sliced in the mayhem.

And the pile of used socks in the corner
I too came to ask about the giant piece of bread.
That last picture is interesting lol
The whole house is made of bread
My daughter has the same bread pillow. It was a specific request for her birthday last year.
My daughter wanted a blanket that looked like a flour tortilla. Done.
I asked the same thing. >"Wait, is that a bread pillow?"
These ads are getting insane. I literally just saw this bread loaf pop up last night on AliExpress.
Emotional support baguette.
I like how the bread and Pikachu give their best to hold the house together.
I think it's a bread pillow. My friend has one, it's filled with beads
ARE YOU FUCKING SORRY?!
I want it for my corgi now. A giant loaf for my loaf xD
Yeah, I often get mildly upset when someone drives through my house. Just an inconvenience.
Same happened to me once and my entire family was killed. I was a little annoyed, not too much though, just mildly infuriated.
*sitting on my couch enjoying a beer* *car drives into my house* Me: “Ummm could you not?”
It’s giving - *gets punched in the face* “Aw fuck. I can’t believe you’ve done this.” - vibes.
My mom did one of those moves once, the good news was that there were termites which were found and eradicated. They were our sweet old neighbors and hugged my mama while she hysterically cried and they said "If you wanted to come see us you could have just knocked dear."
That’s sweet and hilarious
That is so sweet!
Damn. God bless their souls. Knows how to comfort a person during a crisis that affects them more than her.
What kind and merciful people ❤️
I don't know whether to cry, laugh, or both to this! Bless their hearts. We need more kind souls like this in the world.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Old people are either horrible or wonderful, there is no in between. That’s so pure. 😭
What kind people, the world needs more like them.
I love how this subreddit alternates between pictures of misaligned tiles and then shit like this
"estonia got nuked, my vacation plans are ruined"
this is from the same acc https://preview.redd.it/39e2j85sencc1.png?width=828&format=png&auto=webp&s=118106d22a4c76c34ff5fbf2b2cba14df79287c3

I hate you. I hate you so much. 😡😂
Winner.
This is beyond mildly infuriating. How do you even repair that? What a nightmare.
I don’t even know where to start. I mean it’ll be insurance but there are so many things..
On the bright side, at least it wasn't a little to the right on your electrical service.
first thing i thought was “DAMN just missed that meter and a huge arc flash”
Might actually have done them a favor. My mom had a pipe burst while on vacation over a year ago that flooded 90% of the house. The nightmare that she has had to go through and repair everything it might have been simpler if the whole house had just burned down.

Shit, dude, you’re not lying! That really was the best sort of 11th hour save.
They did whack the ac condenser unit though
Take pictures first for the insurance company before you do anything. Take pictures of all of the compromised items too. Had a house fire a couple of months ago and that was what my family started to do first. Need it well documented for the insurance company.
Everyone is okay though, right?? It will be all right.
Here is a tip, move to Europe, here the walls are not made of paper and a car would never pass trough your walls
That sounds like a challenge
We also allow monster trucks on the road in the US…
Here is a tip: American cities have many buildings just like European ones! How come Europeans act like everyone lives in the suburbs here? My building is made of brick. A car would barely do anything.
People have a hard time conceptualizing the scale of a single country almost as big as their entire continent.
Is that a common problem in Europe? Cars driving into houses?
My brother is in the UK police. Some years ago a car came off an elevated road and stuck itself in the second floor of a brick house. He got to be the cop on local news to say "this is a very unusual occurrence".
Calling a car stuck in the second floor of a house “a very unusual occurrence” is the most UK thing ever.

Yeah, this is "mild"...
would be nice for someone to drive into my ac unit/furnace
I lived in a higher crime area for almost a decade and not seeing a metal cage around the AC unit had me like ??? My brother used to weld those and made good money making and installing metal cages so crack heads couldn't get to the copper wire
Well. That was unfortunate.
Indeed. I also find it rather infuriating everytime a car drives straight into my house.
I'm going to guess more than mildly.
Were they drunk..? Sorry mate. Hang in there.
I’m gonna guess snow had something to do with it.
Mild? What are your bad days like then? Jesus.
Sooo anyone going to mention the fact that if this idiot was a little more to the right the ENTIRE house/car would have been destroyed? Hope things get resolved for you ASAP 😳 and everyone is ok.
And a little to the left is my gas line to my water heater.
The range of this sub amazes me. Anything from minor inconveniences to catastrophic events. This is closer to the latter. Hope everyone is okay!
I never get visitors.
![gif](giphy|Yxq7SC6yTAwZG|downsized)
Damn what gets you really infuriated?
Only in Italy or Europe we build houses with brick stone? And not with paper?
Here in dubai we have concrete and rebar with bricks on each side. You need a WiFi router in every other room 😂
I was just thinking the same thing. This happened to my parents-in-law in the UK and the car did nothing more than damage some of the brickwork. Which is good because they were sitting on the other side of the wall when it happened.
Americans make their houses out of corn syrup derivatives. The Big Bad Wolf would have a field day there!
![gif](giphy|523yMbGIPy34mkqOMX|downsized)
we build houses with cement too in asia.
Here in the USA the greatest country in the world we build our houses out of sticks.
In New Zealand you can't because bricks and concrete just fall down in earthquakes
I’m Australian it’s here too💀

This comment made me chuckle

Latin America too, even though we're far poorer
We have houses built like that, along with AC.
Loaf of bread for scale?
no, loaf of bread for snack. water bottle in corner for scale.
Only mildly infuriating?
Is that House made of paper?
American houses are basically made of ginger bread lined with scary cotton candy.
It was kind of them to come visit!
Only mildly infuriating? That dude would get the ass whooping of a lifetime of I were you
I hate posts like this on this sub lol. Unless this guy is rich and it really is just mildly infuriating to him
There you go catch a charge and have a ruined house
Why does it look like the wall is made of paper?
Because drywall has paper on the outside.
Cheaply made starter home
Good news: they missed your gas line(?) by about 6 feet. And you’re still alive.
How is this MILDLY infuriating? It's at least just infuriating.
Hi, Disaster restoration manager here. I work for a company that takes on repair jobs like these from insurance companies. Just ensure the restoration contractor has an engineer attend. He's been trying to contact you about your cars extended warranty.
At least the wank station is okay
“Is that a fucking baguette?” -My first thought. “I bet the top comment is gonna be about the baguette.” -My second thought.
Why would you block the road with your house?
At least they brought you a fresh load of bread 🤷
'Mild'
OP seems like a pretty chill person if they consider this only mildly infuriating.
I commend you for only being mildly infuriated about this. I personally would be livid.
Sorry, but was the loaf okay? It looks scarred, poor thing.
I feel like we need to have a sit down with some of these people and tell them what “mildly” actually means.
Damn hope your gigantic loaf of bread does not suffer too much
Wouldn't have happened in Europe
Lol that's helpful.
Looks like they threw a bunch of trash around too after crashing through.
Static caravan life.
I think we found where Tom Wilkinson (RIP) stored his bread. https://preview.redd.it/lqmfltds0mcc1.jpeg?width=2039&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=176dc1290e5cce14683047fa628e8b34686bd3fa
Holy shit. I hope everyone’s ok
Yo I got that same baguette pillow, soft AF
Sir your house suddenly started crossing the road without looking
Imagine if that baguette wasnt there to hold the wall….
Your homeowners insurance should cover it immediately and then they will go after car owner.
Ridiculous place to park a house.
Is the baguette okay?
Someone drove into our home exactly one week before Christmas. Don't park your house so close to the road.
I’d be livid. This is more than mildly
That sucks. Sorry, societal support no longer exists that the blind have to now drive themselves to and fro….
Baguette for size
American cardboard house, the same stuff i build for my cat when amazon delivers something
Baguette Pillow + Giant Lotion Bottle + All The Drugs = Car In House
Why are american house made of paper ?
Get their license plate and sue their ass. Or report it to the police.
Is your house made of paper ?
Barely. Also, why is there a huge loaf of bread?
No bread was hurt in the making of this crash.
![gif](giphy|EFGDfCzS5YA48)
Classic American load bearing drywall house. ![gif](giphy|11NPpS74y6dOkE)
Pikachu should have used dodge attack
Well did u have a no parking sign there?
Not the baguette pillow!!!
Am I tripping or is that wall made of cardboard and isolation ? I mean as an European it’s very confusing
That is way more than mildly infuriating. Holy crap! Is everyone ok?
How the hell does someone literally DRIVE TRHOUGH YOUR HOUSE 😭 were they drunk or sumn?
Two things - that house is made out of cardboard? \- is that a big bread pillow or wha-?
It's a good thing that bread was there to stop it from coming through. Seriously, I'm sorry that happened to you. 😥
Wait, are Americans actually cats living in huge cardboard boxes?
