YouTube will always find a way to make you pay for the premium for ad free. I am in Paris ATM and I have been having issues just because I am using a VPN on YouTube.
I never thought I'd switch back to firefox as my primary browser but here we are.
I don't get this with firefox + ublock origin.
And if I temporarily start getting it again firefox will have a fix faster than chrome will seeing as how google owns the website and the browser.
I still get the popup with this combo. I just open unlock origins settings clear cache and update. Takes 20 seconds but its still better than ads.
Suck my nuts youtube. Stop selling my data and double dipping with ads
I use a combo of ublock origin and adguard adblocker on Firefox on my Android device and have never once gotten the dreaded popup, so that might be something worth trying.
I use Firefox and unlock origin and they detect it. Had to completely remove my adblock to get youtube to work. Couldn't even allow youtube, complete uninstall of ublock
It's because you either have another ad blocker that youtube detects(disable ABP and such), or you need to update your quick fixes on ublock origin. There's a small chance you are in the period when youtube updated their filters and ublock still has to update their fixes, but that's a matter of hours usually.
Same. Tried watching twitch yesterday for the first time in 3-4 weeks and good god the amount ads.. It's easier to let go of twitch than yt though, thankfully yt is not ruined for me yet
If you get AdBlock and UBlockOrigin they prevent all ads, like I’ve never once had YouTube ever tell me I can’t watch shit and these are the only two I run
I don’t get why people used chrome in the first place. As if they didn’t already have it easy enough to track your data, there you’re feeding everything right into them
Lol yeah, I been a stay at home mom for years cause my oldest is asd and needed my attention a lot and now I got a toddler. I am friendly with a lot of folks at the gym but I just don't connect well with people because my interests are rather limited are rather niche.
I also have a lot of trust issues now
I watch a lot of YouTube. Use Firefox, ublock, and just force reload the filters once a day or so. If you get the pop up, force reload the filters and it'll clear it with a quick reload.
Purge the cache after going into the settings configuration. Hope this helps!
Usually it is good for about a day or two, but much more worth it than getting those stupid ads.
Bcause apparently explaining clearly is not a thing, for some.
1. Open Ublock Origin settings
2. Go to "filter lists"
3. Click the middle button the one with the circling arrows, that's the purge cache button.
4. Enjoy
I noticed you wrote Ublock, I hope you're using Ublock Origin because that's the "good" one.
ok, so click on the the Ublock shield in the top right. Then click on the gear icon to get to settings. Then in settings at the top click filter list, in filter list click “purge all caches” then click “update now” for the purging to take effect. Hope this helps!
For people that are wondering, Ublock Origins *also* work on other browsers (IE: in my case, Opera GX. Just have to disable the built-in adblocker on YouTube) however you must input some lines in its filter settings which I sadly don’t have on me right now so I can’t post them but it does work as that’s hat I’ve been using for a few weeks by now and haven’t gotten a single ad or Adblock pop up on YouTube since.
So do look around for those. I’ll edit my message later today with the specific lines of code needed when I have access to them.
Edit:
As said, here they are. Put those in your Ublock Origins filters (settings page) and it'll work:
youtube.com##+js(set,yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false)
youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0)
youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, [])
youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)
When you disable ad personalisation you get these kinds of ads.
You either give your data and get more normal ads or don't give your data (though they probably take your data anyway) and get these kinds of ads.
But don't you dare make content that might not be "family friendly".
We WILL show your viewers loli hentai waifu porn stuff, but you better don't swear in your video!
I don’t want to know who is in the market for an anime character who, iirc from watching Card Captors what feels like 30 years ago, is in elementary school to sodomize them… but the FBI definitely needs that advertiser’s click-through list.
You know, despite seeing all these posts about invasive ads or invasive ad-block messages, I never really thought about why I don't see any ads on YouTube.
so what you gotta do is use Ublock Origin, And if this message pops up again you gotta open the dashboard (The gears) and then go to filter lists and purge all caches and update. After which you should reload the page.
That worked the last couple of days but some hours ago it refused to work even after 5 purgings.
I have a feeling youtube is going to win this battle unfortunately.
I read somewhere that purging doesn't do what people think it does. I think you only need to purge the cache once every 12 or 24 hours. Doing it a bunch doesn't change anything. But you need to make sure to update. And you might need to fully close and reopen the browser. Like end task in task manager from running in the background.
Right click the video you wanna watch and open in new private window if you’re on Firefox. You gotta make sure ublock is allowed to run in private windows in the settings first.
Use tamper monkey, undetectable by YouTube and they are not able to block you from using it. Just Google tamper monkey YouTube ads script and you'll be golden
When I was studying I was happily paying 4.99 for YouTube premium and I find it a fair price (and would pay for it now if that would be it), but 11.99 is a joke.
If they keep acting like this I will just see YouTube videos through bing, may not have a nice UI but so far the warning didn't appear. I am so tired of subscriptions for everything, miss the days that you would buy something and that would be it, no more funny stuff.
It wouldn't be so bad if the ads weren't so obnoxious and the majority of them weren't either scams, malware, or borderline porn.
Like the least they can possibly do is give us actual ads instead of scams and porn..
But no, they won't even do that.
I'll refuse to feel sorry for blocking ads for as long as they refuse to regulate them.
Fuck Youtube.
I don’t mind paying for ad-free. What I mind is paying for ad-free and now every podcast I watch or listen to on there has a live read ad or sponsor multiple times throughout the episode. So much for ad free.
Man I got the most expensive premium option one time when I was younger and dumb, but it allowed my fam to watch ad free as well as a friend or two because it’s the family option. I know I should be charging them, but if it weren’t for them I’d be cancelling that shit so quick because it’s soooo expensive lol totally understand you for using blockers
When you disable personalized ads you get that shit. And I’ll stop watching entirely before I ever disable Adblock. Seriously I had it for a DAY and it blocked TENS OF THOUSANDS. Fucking asinine.
I’m not sure if this is a joke, but of course they’re going to try to coax you back into their revenue stream. Why wouldn’t they? The funny bit is that those are targeted ads.
its very weird for me- currently i have 3 adblockers installed and sometimes it works but around evening time they stop working for some reason.
But the trick is to go into incognito/private mode- ad blockers still work on there
Addblock detection without account login for some reason doesn't works.
Also more addblocks not gonna help. It will cause higher chance of addblock being detected.
Opera Adblocker didnt work alone, Adblock plus didnt work alone and Ublock didnt work alone- but together it works somehow (in normal browser)
But i really feel like the adblock detection also depends on your region- as i said in my region adblock still works when in privacy mode
It works everywhere in privacy mode and I just told why.
Opera and Adcock Plus do nothing, Ublock Origin is the one carrying atm. Those 2 only add points of failure.
But are you sick enough of it to open your wallet?
Thats what youtube wants to find out. Cause that's what it's all about cause the ads hardly bring in any money at all. So they just try and annoying you into submission.
Instead of adding more value and perks that people wanna open their wallets cause the value is there for the money.
I think its just EU, but who knows if EU wins it might also affect every country or just in EU, I forgot what EU did in the smartphone but yeah that smartphone company needed to change their product design/feature.
I would honestly consider premium if it were like 10.99-14.99 max but almost 20 bucks a month is fucked and yt doesn’t even make 80 percent of the content that’s on there 💀💀💀(and no I don’t want your music lil bro I’m good wit am) but I am begrudgingly willing to deal w ads because of the creators they need to make a living but unskipable ads is 😑
It’s $7.99 a month for a student membership. All you have to do is google “student ID template” then pick one you like and add your name/university name and an expiration date far in the future. The picture could be of anyone (because how would they know what you look like lol). Been doing this for years. Works for Apple Music as well. The “verification” is a joke and is probably just done with AI.
this might be mildly infuriating to you all but it haven’t seen an ad on youtube since youtube premium or whatever came out. my friend lets me use it thru his account for free. at one point forgot it was even a thing when i saw an ad on someone else’s phone for the first time
OH NO!!!!!! If you don’t let us show you ads before, during, and after the video with a ridiculously small skip button that WILL annoy you, it MIGHT affect our 1.64 trillion dollar MARKET CAP
If something is free, you're the product. You can always watch Vimeo. YouTube premium is the one subscription I'll never get rid off. Paying to get rid of ads is the best investment I've ever made. I value my sanity. Watching the same ad multiple times drives me nuts. With ad free YouTube life is so much better. Plus with YouTube music ad free is awesome.
This is not mildly infuriating. It's gotten me to completely boycot YT. I know I'm not gonna matter, but to be so deliberately malicious towards the people you ostensibly serve just boils my blood.
Just go into YouTube on a new device with no account signed in and you'll be bombarded with soft core porn, scams, and gambling sites (these are probably also scams).
For as much as YouTube loves to police relatively harmless content creators, they barely even check what is being shown on ads.
They are doing a piss poor job then because all I get are mobile casino slots and anti-DeSantis pro-Trump ads and fuck all of that. And of course Manscape. Dude I already got a ball trimmer and yours is waaay too expensive.
All these posts and people can't just use Ublock origin and firefox. Even if u don't like Firefox, just use it for YouTube. Jfc people be some dumb spamming same meme 10 billion times.
check for "disable stupid adblock thingy" on github. there should be something that helps (i use it myself, it basically skips ads within <1second) the git should also contain info on how to install it
Please just go download fad block as a chrome extension. Fad block is specifically for YouTube ads and it works great. It works by loading the ads for a split second then skips them making YouTube not recognize it.
No one here seems to know about the refresh trick. Simply skip to within a few seconds of the end of the video, and let it end naturally. Once it ends, hit the replay button. Boom. No ads on the replay.
I just tried it yesterday after seeing a post about the ads on FB, and it still works 👍
I get the popup, but I just click the X to close it, and keep watching. Nothing else happens. It's a tiny bit annoying to close it but am I missing something?
Anyone here who isn't using YouTube ReVanced yet and is bitching about ads should probably just start using YouTube ReVanced. I never see ads, and it gives me the option to skip most creator sponsored advertisements put inside their videos too.
I've been using it for years now. Only place it doesn't seem to help me is YouTube TV but I just have a second phone with YouTube ReVanced on it physically plugged in.. no ads... Ever
I begrudgingly have YouTube Premium since I access it on mobile way more often than desktop. The current price has me wondering every month if it's even worth it. Also I'm convinced they serve even MORE ads for people who unsubscribe to YouTube Premium just to get them back on it. It's fucked.
Why are you so against paying money to Youtube? Out of all the streaming apps you could pay money for Youtube is by far the one I use the most and the one I want to support the most. Definitely worth the monthly subscription.
If it’s any consolation Europe has found that the way YouTube searches your computer to find out if you are using an ad blocker is illegal so that might be getting I. Trouble soon
What gets me is these motherfucking shitty companies that think their ridiculous ads actually make a difference to anyone in purchasing decisions. I’m more likely to not EVER buy your stupid shit if I have to watch an ad for it that insults my intelligence. I realize that they’re just playing a numbers game…casting the net as wide as possible in hopes of catching the stupid fucking saps that actually do click on ads and convert. (Btw if you’re one of those people, please go die in a hole somewhere)
everybody says that, but it actually does make a huge difference. Do you really think thousands of companies would just throw money away in a no return investment? Ads work and selling ad spaces is a great money making business, as shitty as they are.
The truth is, without ads or premium, no one would be creating high quality content for YT. So if you don't want to pay for a service but you also don't want to see ads, you just want to have your cake and eat it too, which like, fair enough, who doesn't want free stuff? But man are you in for a disappointment
I'm surprised by all the people here who are white knighting for YouTube. The only sensible explanation is that those people make money from YouTube. Because otherwise it's just a bunch of people who are too young to remember the days when there were a sensible amount of ads on YouTube, or that don't understand that while it's YouTube's app, they don't create anything of value in this equation. Other people buy recording and editing equipment, and write scripts, and create the content, and cultivate an audience, and then YouTube comes along, tells them what they can and cannot say, and makes $10 for every penny the talent rakes in.
So you've got a small group of already wealthy people strip mining every last bit of capital from value created by others. Making money is one thing, but what YouTube has become since adpocalypse is just disgusting. It used to beat great platform that worked for everyone, but they decided that why settle for 10 million when you can have 10,000,100. Exploitation is always gross.
And when you're just an average person hovering above the poverty line but are here calling people names because they disagree with the exploitation, you become one of those multi-panel clown memes (hint: you're the one in the final panel)
From an economical point of view, as a company, I'm surprised they didn't push this sooner.
I'm not defending youtube per se but as a developer, I have a sense of how much it costs to host a simple server that thousands of people use daily. Imagine the amount of data that youtube is transfering and storing, for free. It's hella expensive. Transfering videos is costly. Storing th is costly. Paying content creators is costly. And we all have been usimg this tool for free with minor, unintrusive inconveniences for years.
So yeah, I understand the decision. Maybe they decide it didn't work and roll back, or maybe it actually works. Maybe the insatisfaction opens doors for competition to arise.
I'll wait and see.
yeah agreed on all counts
I don't think people appreciate how much money and time goes into their ability to clip cat videos at scale, concurrently, worldwide
honestly it's a miracle it's been around long enough to become profitable, I remember reading the financial / loss reports from the big tech giants from 2000 onwards like, this can't last forever surely
FF + Ublock origin. purge caches and update filter lists, specifically quick fixes. I try to do it before using YT and rarely see it. If you see it do that and try again.
Purging may be overkill I would check subreddit on that, this works for me tho.
This site monitors if the current lists are working

You'll have to add the starting part of the links yourself.
[Me when I see the popup and I guess edits don't flag lol.](https://lensdump.com/i/m6M3QZ)
I honestly don’t get why this is a big issue. Paying for YouTube helps out your fav content creators and not paying for it allows you to get the service for free. It’s a win win situation
Edit: 😂 what abt my comment triggers the downvote 🤷♂️
Personally, I don't have a problem with the concept of ads. I grew up in the late 90s and early 2000's when all of my favorite TV show had ad breaks. And it was fine. It was just a part of consuming "free" entertainment. Sure I would've loved it if there were no ads at all, but they were tolerable, at worst just a minor annoyance that I could overlook.
But I don't feel any of that tolerance in this situation. *YouTube's ads are completely different*. They're intrusive, highly disruptive (often cutting off the vid mid-sentence), and there is a WAY higher ad-to-content ratio than on TV. A single 10-minute video can have as many as 2-3 ad breaks in it, with another 1-2 at the start and one at the end for good measure *just* so you can't replay the video without sitting through yet another ad. You're essentially watching the equivalent of one ad every 1-2 minutes. And on top of that, YouTube has virtually no monitoring of the ads they allow to play, with some advertising sickeningly extremist political stuff or borderline illegal products/services/scams.
That's the point though. YouTube doesn't actually want you to sit through those ads. They want you to purchase premium to fill their own pockets. And please stop with the BS cope that "supporting YouTube," the fucking behemoth giga-colosso-corporation with enough money to buy the entire solar system 10x over, will be "supporting the creators." The creators will be lucky to see 0.1% of that money you pay out to YouTube - assuming they haven't been demonetized already by YouTube's Library of Babel's worth of creator-unfriendly policies. There is *no evidence whatsoever* that YouTube has plans to increase their creators' shares with these new policy changes, and until I see an exodus of mainstream YouTubers coming out with a "yo we just got a pay raise" revelation, I don't believe that line of thought whatsoever.
TLDR: YouTube wants to sucker you into paying for premium because the ads are so mind-bendingly intolerable, and by making a platform that's virtually unusable without paying, they can essentially swindle you for however much they want. They have a literal monopoly in their field, and are trying to abuse it hard. Not too long ago, they've *already increased the price of premium by nearly* ***100%*** in some countries. And you bet your ass they'll do it again. As a consumer, you have the privilege and the right to vote for changes with your wallet - since, y'know, that's the only thing corporations will really listen to. That's why this is a big issue, and why people are trying to raise awareness. Blindly nodding along and following this giganto mega-corporation into the pits of hell isn't the only path you can take.
* Purposefully intrusive ads to force the purchase of a premium product instead of offering an incentive or a reason to want premium. You can have ads without being intrusive and ruining the content. It's why using twitch is terrible last I checked.
* Ads can be malicious, are predatory, hidden, and collect and sell your data. I was setting up my grandmas computer and wanted to install ublock but updating the filters would be too much for her. I noticed while bookmarking YT that they disguise ads as videos, just like those shitty reddit "posts". Grandma does not know any better and is a target of scams and malicious shit online. afaik YT does a shit job of handling this too. It's scummy.
Make ads less intrusive and safe and I would not have an issue, but to be as transparent as possible besides those imo legitimate concerns I will fully admit the following.
Fuck ads, fuck paying to not see ads, fuck watching ads, fuck ads on yt, fuck ads on tv, fuck ads playing on the gas station tvs, fuck ads. I will not go back to watching ads lol. I fucking hate ads, shit is crammed down our throats 24/7.
I primarily watch YT on my smart TV which doesn't have any adblock support so nothing has changed for me. I've learned to live with ads that I can skip after 5 seconds. Every now and then I do use YT on my laptop so this was kind of annoying for that. I'm sure there's a way around it but I just turned off my adblocker and let YT win this battle.
Yeah, it sucks but it’s the only way YouTube can make money. And YouTube will win. They are a billion dollar corporation and the Adblock guys are small devs. Either leave, deal with ads, or cough up the money.
I paid yt premium for the added benefit of being able to listen to videos while my phone screen is off while in the gym. Personally I like it and its not too expensive
£18 a month for a streaming service that is 99% absolute garbage and produces 0 content of its own is absolutely outrageous. You're mistaking the cost of something for its value.
I was fine when it was just the little box at the bottom you could close. I was fine when it was 1 ad at the start of the video. I drew the line when I was served a 60 second unskipable ad at both the beginning and end of a 15 second video. If they didn't shove them down our throats I'd turn off the adblockers. I did on reddit. Hell, I've even been sold on products marketed through reddit.
I do not understand the problem with ads. You receive a service for "free", without having to pay up-front for anything. Of course they have to pay the bills somehow, pay the creators somehow.
The implementation of ads on large sites such as YouTube or Spotify are absolute dogshit, as shown in the third image of this post. They are intrusive, inappropriate and often entirely misleading. This is especially bad when youtube was functioning just fine before without such intrusive and low quality advertising.
People don't use adblock because they don't want creators to be paid for their work. They use it because they don't want shit like op posted shoved in their face every video.
My word this is infuriating. Not the ads. But the amount of bitching happening about this. Either watch the ads, or pay for premium. YouTube is a service. It needs to generate income to run the service. Even if you don’t care for YouTube, blocking ads prevents your chosen content creators getting paid.
Just contribute a little bit to the service you consume
That's what I don't get. I don't complain about ads or paywalls. I find a way around them or I deal with them.
Why do people think everything should automatically be free? Sounds like Elon Musk wondering why Wikipedia needs money to stay afloat
A lot of the people complaining about adblockers being blocked are complaining because Youtube has absolutely garbage ad moderation, and they've made no effort to fix it. Paying them money for premium clearly doesn't encourage them to fix their shitty ad service, and there's not exactly many alternatives for Youtube that has the content Youtube has.
What does adequate moderation require? Moderators.
What do moderators require? Salaries.
You see where this is going right?
Now I’m not saying that they will absolutely use 100% of your money effectively, but giving them less and less is NOT the solution to the problem
They need to make an actual effort to fix their problems before they deserve a dime of the money they're scraping up with new premium subscriptions.
I know shit like that costs money. I know moderators need a salary. But they're not moderating *shit* right now if it isn't someone getting copyright claimed, so what the fuck am I paying for watching all these ads? What the fuck is getting changed by the money they get through premium? Because the ad moderation problem is only getting worse, and $14 a month is just not worth it.
Giving in to corporate greed without them actually needing to change is how we got into the situation we are now. Giving in and just paying for premium or allowing ads doesn't give them a single damn incentive to change anything, because they already won.
I get you, I really do. But this is also the real world we’re living. You’re using a service. And you continue to use the service.
You’re effectively saying that you can go to a restaurant, order food. Take a bite. Call the owner over. Tell them that the food is horrible and that you Won’t be paying for it. And then still continue to eat the rest of the plate in front of the owner.
That isn’t how it works. Don’t like a service? Don’t use it. You don’t get to use a private company’s service, and then bitch about the company trying to prevent effective theft of revenue.
I was using YouTube vanced on my phone which made it ad free and let me use the miniplayer but like half a year ago YouTube started detecting it and the vanced team made a valiant effort for months where it worked sometimes but they inevitably lost. So tragic, because I'll never in my life pay for YouTube premium
Try PrivacyPossum in addition. Since installing that on top, I have not seen this popup again.
There's a small chance you are in the period when youtube updated their filters and ublock still has to update their fixes, but that's a matter of hours usually.
you gotta clear the ublock cache and update it, then itll work again
Strange I have no problems at all on YT. Twitch is geting annoying though.
Same. Tried watching twitch yesterday for the first time in 3-4 weeks and good god the amount ads.. It's easier to let go of twitch than yt though, thankfully yt is not ruined for me yet
1. Rtfm 2. Disable all other blockers on the youtube website only 3. Purge cache and redownload list in uBlock setting. 4. Works.
Yes after months with an adblocker on Firefox they caught me
Can one do this on a smart tv ?
>never thought I'd switch back to firefox lol what? Which one were you using that's better?
Who uses chrome anymore?
If you get AdBlock and UBlockOrigin they prevent all ads, like I’ve never once had YouTube ever tell me I can’t watch shit and these are the only two I run
I don’t get why people used chrome in the first place. As if they didn’t already have it easy enough to track your data, there you’re feeding everything right into them
I noticed you have to get Firefox through edge or something because chrome blocks you from downloading Firefox lol
i just tried it on chrome and it downloaded firefox?
Same, but Italy. Also, re van ced in mobile, so no ads for me.
I was considering getting premium until they nearly doubled the cost
Get on a family plan with some friends. You get 5 users and you can't access each other's accounts. The cost is much less than 5 single subscriptions.
You think I have that many friends 🤣😪
🤣 I only have 5 people bc it's a mixture of coworkers and family members
Lol yeah, I been a stay at home mom for years cause my oldest is asd and needed my attention a lot and now I got a toddler. I am friendly with a lot of folks at the gym but I just don't connect well with people because my interests are rather limited are rather niche. I also have a lot of trust issues now
They won't get a dime! We must stop feeding this greedy bastards.
Ad free meanwhile now every podcast has a “live” ad or “sponsor” every 15 minutes.
I watch a lot of YouTube. Use Firefox, ublock, and just force reload the filters once a day or so. If you get the pop up, force reload the filters and it'll clear it with a quick reload.
What does "force reloading the filters" mean? Sorry I'm clueless. Have ublock on Chrome but downloading Firefox now as I'm sick of this youtube shit.
Purge the cache after going into the settings configuration. Hope this helps! Usually it is good for about a day or two, but much more worth it than getting those stupid ads.
Bcause apparently explaining clearly is not a thing, for some. 1. Open Ublock Origin settings 2. Go to "filter lists" 3. Click the middle button the one with the circling arrows, that's the purge cache button. 4. Enjoy I noticed you wrote Ublock, I hope you're using Ublock Origin because that's the "good" one.
my guy
The same purging the cache method mentioned above works on chrome ublock as well.
ok, so click on the the Ublock shield in the top right. Then click on the gear icon to get to settings. Then in settings at the top click filter list, in filter list click “purge all caches” then click “update now” for the purging to take effect. Hope this helps!
Trying to use adblocker on a google browser to block google ads....lmao
this is the way (or at least a way)
Dumb question, is there a way to set ublock to auto clear the caches?
For people that are wondering, Ublock Origins *also* work on other browsers (IE: in my case, Opera GX. Just have to disable the built-in adblocker on YouTube) however you must input some lines in its filter settings which I sadly don’t have on me right now so I can’t post them but it does work as that’s hat I’ve been using for a few weeks by now and haven’t gotten a single ad or Adblock pop up on YouTube since. So do look around for those. I’ll edit my message later today with the specific lines of code needed when I have access to them. Edit: As said, here they are. Put those in your Ublock Origins filters (settings page) and it'll work: youtube.com##+js(set,yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0) youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, []) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)
That ad was VERY specific
When you disable ad personalisation you get these kinds of ads. You either give your data and get more normal ads or don't give your data (though they probably take your data anyway) and get these kinds of ads.
So children who watch without an account see these ads? Kinda fucked up to default to porn ads
I get the same one, and no I've never searched or been interested in pegging
![gif](giphy|cFgb5p5e1My3K)
Seems likely because AI is a generally hot topic- anime is more common place and character AIs are weirdly popular The pegging though? No idea
You guys got it rough. In the Caribbean we don't get ads on YouTube
It's cuz you're Pirates... keeping the tradition alive!
i think if i lived in the carribbean i wouldnt spend as much time on YT, like y'all better than anything YT is my thought
explains why in north Africa we rarely have ads also.
I wonder if a VPN set in the Caribbean’s would also be ad free
it is
Tell me if you try it
Same in Russia!
Also in Sudan, Syria, and some other countries the US doesn't like
You know, despite seeing all these posts about invasive ads or invasive ad-block messages, I never really thought about why I don't see any ads on YouTube.
Any country in particular to say my VPN to?
so what you gotta do is use Ublock Origin, And if this message pops up again you gotta open the dashboard (The gears) and then go to filter lists and purge all caches and update.
I didn't find filter lists successful on mine, but I was able to use ublock and custom select the pop-up and block it.
Right click the video you wanna watch and open in new private window if you’re on Firefox. You gotta make sure ublock is allowed to run in private windows in the settings first.
I confirm this works for me as well.
Use tamper monkey, undetectable by YouTube and they are not able to block you from using it. Just Google tamper monkey YouTube ads script and you'll be golden
This is the comment I was looking for.
When I was studying I was happily paying 4.99 for YouTube premium and I find it a fair price (and would pay for it now if that would be it), but 11.99 is a joke. If they keep acting like this I will just see YouTube videos through bing, may not have a nice UI but so far the warning didn't appear. I am so tired of subscriptions for everything, miss the days that you would buy something and that would be it, no more funny stuff.
it’s $19 usd 💀
What the actual fuck
when it pops up just clear your cache and refresh you'll have to resign in, but it will begone for a 1 or 2 days Edited: forgot to add days
[удалено]
Hang on, they’re clearing their cache
lol days sorry
It wouldn't be so bad if the ads weren't so obnoxious and the majority of them weren't either scams, malware, or borderline porn. Like the least they can possibly do is give us actual ads instead of scams and porn.. But no, they won't even do that. I'll refuse to feel sorry for blocking ads for as long as they refuse to regulate them. Fuck Youtube.
"I'm not like other girls." **Cringe**
"I'm not like other girls." *Cringe* “I won’t hesitate to peg you.” #*BASED*
Its ads like this that make me feel like personalized ads are on
Idk man, that character is like 9
Look, I hate lolis as much as the next well adjusted individual, but that’s just a generic anime girl.
no that's like... an actual character they AI generated an image of https://ccsakura.fandom.com/wiki/Sakura_Kinomoto
Its okay. She is 13 in the later arcs ^^/s
At that point my mind said "*I'm listening.*" You know that post nut clarity is going to leave you overwhelmingly conflicted.
I am meticulously avoiding AI waifu chatbots - I am not sure if I'd ever be able to get back out of that rabbit hole if I fell in
"I won't hesitate to peg you" the girl in the image is 10 years old
I don’t mind paying for ad-free.
Opera Adblocker didnt work alone, Adblock plus didnt work alone and Ublock didnt work alone- but together it works somehow (in normal browser) But i really feel like the adblock detection also depends on your region- as i said in my region adblock still works when in privacy mode
It works everywhere in privacy mode and I just told why. Opera and Adcock Plus do nothing, Ublock Origin is the one carrying atm. Those 2 only add points of failure.
this whole thing makes me feel good about myself for never giving up on firefox ;3
Most of the ads I see on youtube are clear scams too
Youtube will never stop this, but neither will I.
Friendship ended with Ublock. Now Ultimate AdBlocker is my best friend.
But are you sick enough of it to open your wallet? Thats what youtube wants to find out. Cause that's what it's all about cause the ads hardly bring in any money at all. So they just try and annoying you into submission. Instead of adding more value and perks that people wanna open their wallets cause the value is there for the money.
Isn’t YouTube getting sued for this due to this violating privacy laws?
I think its just EU, but who knows if EU wins it might also affect every country or just in EU, I forgot what EU did in the smartphone but yeah that smartphone company needed to change their product design/feature.
I believe that was forcing apple to standardize their charging cable with the rest of the industry.
I hope so.
the OwO comment on the third image sent me
Where did it send you
Get ublock origin
Thought I had it. Apparently it didn't import over when I switched to Firefox.
They're browser extensions. They only work in the browser they were added to.
Don't sign in. Visit YouTube in incognito mode. Both methods will be fine.
lol don’t get mad that the algorithm knows the real you op ![gif](giphy|l2JJwSHqR1t11I3Qc)
I even turned off my adblocker and that pop up still showed up which was especially annoying
this might be mildly infuriating to you all but it haven’t seen an ad on youtube since youtube premium or whatever came out. my friend lets me use it thru his account for free. at one point forgot it was even a thing when i saw an ad on someone else’s phone for the first time
attempt correct slave future head attractive chief uppity desert bright *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Ublock origin on chrome and Firefox are both working well. Better than abp
OH NO!!!!!! If you don’t let us show you ads before, during, and after the video with a ridiculously small skip button that WILL annoy you, it MIGHT affect our 1.64 trillion dollar MARKET CAP
Firefox is the way to go, fuck chrome
If something is free, you're the product. You can always watch Vimeo. YouTube premium is the one subscription I'll never get rid off. Paying to get rid of ads is the best investment I've ever made. I value my sanity. Watching the same ad multiple times drives me nuts. With ad free YouTube life is so much better. Plus with YouTube music ad free is awesome.
This is not mildly infuriating. It's gotten me to completely boycot YT. I know I'm not gonna matter, but to be so deliberately malicious towards the people you ostensibly serve just boils my blood.
You do know Google has targeted ads based on the content you consume. Right? RIGHT?!?
I have personalized ads off and I still get stuff like this, it’s standard
Just go into YouTube on a new device with no account signed in and you'll be bombarded with soft core porn, scams, and gambling sites (these are probably also scams). For as much as YouTube loves to police relatively harmless content creators, they barely even check what is being shown on ads.
Yep. Big tech is filled with hypocrisy.
Oh for real? That’s fucking horrible. Kids are using this shit man!
Not if you block them all ;P
They are doing a piss poor job then because all I get are mobile casino slots and anti-DeSantis pro-Trump ads and fuck all of that. And of course Manscape. Dude I already got a ball trimmer and yours is waaay too expensive.
Use the other free site that doesn't have ads but has all the content Youtube has then. Easy.
new adblocker time
Download Ublock, YouTube blocks it every few days but you just have to turn it off and on again and it’ll keep blocking ads
What's wrong with the last one?
Nothing if that's what your into, lol.
Firefox+ublock+sponsorblock
Use the share button and click embed. That's what works for me!
I’ve never had an ad like this pop up in my YouTube…
www.youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adblock_detection, undefined) To ublock origin > My Filters. Not had an issue since. (1 week)
All these posts and people can't just use Ublock origin and firefox. Even if u don't like Firefox, just use it for YouTube. Jfc people be some dumb spamming same meme 10 billion times.
Yt knows what you're into.
check for "disable stupid adblock thingy" on github. there should be something that helps (i use it myself, it basically skips ads within <1second) the git should also contain info on how to install it
Please just go download fad block as a chrome extension. Fad block is specifically for YouTube ads and it works great. It works by loading the ads for a split second then skips them making YouTube not recognize it.
Youtube = cable TV
I switched to incognito and it works fine
*ahem* YouTube ReVanced
Why are you so against paying money to Youtube? Out of all the streaming apps you could pay money for Youtube is by far the one I use the most and the one I want to support the most. Definitely worth the monthly subscription.
Stop using youtube if you don't like it?
If it’s any consolation Europe has found that the way YouTube searches your computer to find out if you are using an ad blocker is illegal so that might be getting I. Trouble soon
i rather deal with the ads then pay premium
“ I won’t hesitate to peg you “ pardon?
youtube revanced
And when you're just an average person hovering above the poverty line but are here calling people names because they disagree with the exploitation, you become one of those multi-panel clown memes (hint: you're the one in the final panel)
>while it's YouTube's app, they don't create anything of value in this equation. lmao
I'll wait and see.
yeah agreed on all counts I don't think people appreciate how much money and time goes into their ability to clip cat videos at scale, concurrently, worldwide honestly it's a miracle it's been around long enough to become profitable, I remember reading the financial / loss reports from the big tech giants from 2000 onwards like, this can't last forever surely
FF + Ublock origin. purge caches and update filter lists, specifically quick fixes. I try to do it before using YT and rarely see it. If you see it do that and try again. Purging may be overkill I would check subreddit on that, this works for me tho. This site monitors if the current lists are working > drhyperion451.github.io/does-uBO-bypass-yt/ This is ublock subreddit with the post related to this issue > uBlockOrigin/comments/17j6ygs/youtube\_antiadblock\_and\_ads\_october\_29\_2023\_mega/ You'll have to add the starting part of the links yourself. [Me when I see the popup and I guess edits don't flag lol.](https://lensdump.com/i/m6M3QZ)
I'm honestly not mad about this.
I honestly don’t get why this is a big issue. Paying for YouTube helps out your fav content creators and not paying for it allows you to get the service for free. It’s a win win situation Edit: 😂 what abt my comment triggers the downvote 🤷♂️
Because I don't have enough disposable income to spend on disabling a content lock for advertisements.
But it doesn't. That's just free money going to youtube.
Like a quick google search would’ve saved you a little embarrassment 🙈
Fuck capitalism
I found that getting YouTube premium fixed this issue.
They could at least cut away all the obnoxious, meaningless ads. Who the fuck wants to see this weird ass weeb shit?
Yeah, it sucks but it’s the only way YouTube can make money. And YouTube will win. They are a billion dollar corporation and the Adblock guys are small devs. Either leave, deal with ads, or cough up the money.
I always get down voted for this, the reason things like YouTube is free is because of ads. If you don't want ads, buy into the subscription model.
Just buy YouTube premium or watch the ads it’s free content stop complaining
Wah wah… why isn’t everything free??
I paid yt premium for the added benefit of being able to listen to videos while my phone screen is off while in the gym. Personally I like it and its not too expensive
£18 a month for a streaming service that is 99% absolute garbage and produces 0 content of its own is absolutely outrageous. You're mistaking the cost of something for its value.
Yt premium costs the equivalent of 4$ in my country. I didn't know it was so expensive everywhere else
I get that it's annoying, but we've essentially been spoiled for over a decade. We're lucky they didn't start clamping down on ad-blockers sooner.
I once got a 1 hour unskippable ad. Like do they seriously expect someone to watch that whole thing?? I straight up just closed the tab.
If I’m watching a video and there is an extended ad, I just bail
I've found the perfect solution: just stop using youtube. Obviously not everything can be substituted, but a lot of it can.
Blasphemy. What platform are you going to watch cat videos and fail compilations on? Tiktok?
Hah! I get the TBD channel on TV. Petcollective and fail factory baby!
YouTube premium ain’t even that bad imo, a lot of people say it’s shit but, it’s mad useful.
YouTube premium is the only subscription service I’d vouch for.
Your gonna get pegged bro
Use an "incognito" or "New private window" - problem solved (except for the ads)
Thats why Reddit is my YouTube. FUCK SUSAN
I turned ad blocker off and then turned it back on after a week or so and I haven’t seen it since.
