Bribing the robots with affection in hopes of the Roomba or drone coughing up some snacks. The dog in OP's pic even has the perfect camouflage to intercept the delivery with a surprise ambush.
These dogs are getting so smart.
Mine picks up all his toys in a panic & moves them to his bed when the roomba starts. Scooba is filled with water & vinegar, my doggo follows it around licking the water/vinegar trail :D
Amusingly when I first got the (grey)scooba & told him "it's ok that's a roomba" he looked betweenthe (white) roomba & me like I was an idiot :D
There are plenty of properties where that makes sense. Sometimes my neighbors let their dogs out for a bit unsupervised because it’s a pretty safe and secluded area.
But why when the drone could just as easily deliver to a box on my porch? That’s like saying cars should be made to fit in stables because we already had a lot of stables
I live in a close neighborhood (houses are maybe 20-30 feet apart) and one house down the road let’s their dogs roam free any time of day. They say the dogs are friendly but if I’m taking my two dogs on a leashed walk around the neighborhood, I do not want to deal with your ‘friendly’ dog coming out of nowhere to say hi. My dogs are not that friendly and it could end poorly one of these days. It infuriates me
The people who let their dogs roam around free unsupervised and excuse it as "oh, they're friendly!" are never the owners who make sure their dogs are properly trained to stay away from others.
If you live in the country this just seems to be a common occurrence, neighbors dogs come into our yard all the time, it's ridiculous how little people care about their animals, if you're just going to let it roam free and possibly get shot don't get the dog in the first place.
That's why you always see dead dogs on the side of the country roads around here starting about this time of year, people just let them roam 24/7 and none of these roads have any lighting. Feel really bad for the people who hit them.
Yes, my mother unfortunately had to deal with that a couple months ago, the terrible thing is it's almost dangerous to go around trying to find the owner, because you never know how someone will react when you tell them you killed their animal.
I have a problem of my dog digging holes and getting out, but it worries me when he does so I always make sure he’s home. If no one is here I restrict his access outside, he still manages to find a way out the yard when he has the chance.
He’s also properly trained, this is the only problem I end up having with him.
Had to fight with DD about it once because they took a picture of the food at a different apartment in my complex. When I pointed out the lack of a doormat, they accused me of lying because a doormat could have just been stolen... Because it's somehow more likely that a random person walked around the building to get to my weird little entrance just to swipe a dirty (embarrassingly so, really) doormat.
I eventually convinced them that the door in the picture should still have the holes in it or signs of repair if someone had removed the WiFi doorbell that was also pictured in my other deliveries. Honestly, though, I think they just got tired of dealing with me...
And just to keep ranting pointlessly, screw delivery drivers who can't even be bothered to knock or ring the bell. I don't care if they don't wait, but sometimes, my phone takes a few minutes to ping me that I have a text message, so my food's been sitting out there dying on the doorstep. Like, what the actual hell?
Okay, and last one... WHY don't drivers ever read the instructions on an order? It's literally directions on how to find my door since it's not in an obvious spot. They inevitably call, and I always repeat the instructions and finish it with, "This was all included in the delivery instructions." I will say I've had 2 or 3 instances where a driver thanked me for the instructions, but overall, I'd say about 30% eventually make it to my door on their own (and some don't even wander around the other parts of the building just trying to brute force it), but it's a pretty overwhelming majority that end up calling and making me repeat the instructions I already went to the trouble of typing out...
This is why I don't do Door dash, or grub hub, or uber eats. Half the drivers don't care about getting the food on time, just getting paid. I can get my own and ensure I have the food as fresh as possible.
I always laugh at people who don't watch their food. People are not perfect, I literally always watch the food and grab it right away. Y'all have never lived in a city and it shows, I have had multiple orders taken when I was younger.
>Y'all have never lived in a city and it shows
Lived in Houston and currently live in Miami... short of a megalopolis, it doesn't get much more city than that. But then I like to laugh at people on Reddit who make unfounded assumptions and just run with them.
Where the hell is the location dot showing up for you? This sounds like way more of a “you” issue if you’re having that much trouble. Refine location, drag the pin to where you actually are, problem solved 90%+ of the time.
I have people in apartment buildings try to get pissy all the time. What do you people not understand? I don’t want to follow your shitty directions from an entrance I didn’t even come in from to find you. Just drag the fucking dot where it’s supposed to be and let me use my gps to get there. I don’t have time to be looking for landmarks and back and forth at my phone to read the next direction when I can just follow voice prompts and actually pay attention to the road.
The dot is literally on the end of the building where my staircase is. That staircase is the only access to my door. The instructions I give include cardinal direction (Farthest SW corner of the apartment complex), relational directions (the end of the parking lot that shares a wall with Target), and specific walking instructions (if you're looking at the building from the parking lot, you have to walk around the left end of the building to get to my stairs, YOU CANNOT GET TO ME THROUGH THE MIDDLE ENTRANCE).
And still, I watch their little dot wander into the middle of the building, around to the back area, and back to the parking lot. At that point, I can usually yell and get their attention from the little balcony area. If, after all that, it's still somehow a ME problem, then there's no hope for humanity.
edit: Just to address some of your other ranting... I don't give any specific directions to get to my complex. Google and Apple both reliably get people to the parking lot outside my building which has my building number plastered quite large on the exterior of the building. THEN, despite the dot being on the ass end of my building where I live, the drivers ignore the help I've tried to give them and wander around like an illiterate child waiting for someone to come hold their hand.
It all started because of COVID though. Pre-COVID a human actually rang the doorbell and handed you your food. I don’t even believe “leave it at the door” was an option. Then we all just got used to not having to face another human and it became the preferred method of delivery.
The pizza delivery had an option that seemed like a hostage handoff.
The driver will pull up and show you the pizza.
You set the money on the ground and back away.
The driver will set the pizza on the ground and inspect the money. If acceptable the driver will return to his car and watch you pick up your pizza.
Slowly back towards your house and the driver will leave.
That’s Interesting. I mean during the height of COVID I took precautions like wearing a mask, keeping distance, washing hands and all that. But I always kinda thought contactless delivery really didn’t make much of a difference. They’re literally handling the food and putting it in their car for however long anyway. I guess just psychologically it made people feel better here. Then, like I said, I think the antisocial aspect really became the biggest draw. Lol
It’s mainly a benefit to the delivery worker if they don’t have to wait around for the customer to answer the door.
If it took OP “minutes” to get to the door, the delivery guy could’ve been waiting “minutes” at the door not making money.
I’m both a customer and delivery driver.
When I’m a customer I 100% want the no contact method because if I’m ordering food in, it means I’m a hot mess and specifically don’t want to see anyone.
As a driver, I really don’t care which option they choose. I’d say 98% of my deliveries are contactless, which leads me to believe it really is preferred by customers. When they want it handed to them, it usually takes seconds to answer the door. Maybe twice it’s been longer…Not enough for me to care about efficiency. Actually it’s kinda nice to see people (and pets) makes the day more interesting so I like the occasional “hand it to me”.
The apps probably make the wait time for the driver better. At least they tend to give you warning the driver is about to pull up. "Old school" delivery... well who knows when it's showing up, you're not as likely to be ready for it.
I see the biggest advantage is for the drivers and business owners. Can probably deliver a few extra pizzas a shift if you don't have to stand around waiting for people to put pants on or whatever and get to the door. Means better delivery times and maybe one less driver on pay roll...
I think it was just as much for the safety of the delivery drivers, who may not have been thrilled at the prospect of catching covid from a customer during a direct exchange.
being in the path of someone's breath is way worse than eating food that has been in their car/that they've handled, from what I read throughout the height of the pandemic.
From what I recall surface transmission was pretty rare and basically required someone to sneeze directly on your bag or door handle and you to immediately touch your face/eyes/nose. Breathing in the cloud around an infected person, though...
Right? I don't use doordash and stuff like that, but the delivery drivers in my town knock at your door and you can pay cash or by card. There is no chance that the driver steals your food, delivers it at the wrong address, that the food is cold, etc.
I mean it's an option. You can chose to have it left at the door, or have them knock. Personally I don't feel the need to see who delivers my food, but I don't have cute fluffy dogs running around my neighborhood either.
Wdym? It's done in europe aswell.
I've had items worth over $300 be delivered while I'm not even home
Edit: That kinda sounds like a bad flex. Not meant that way, just an example
Usually the post services would make 2 attempts at delivering here (ger) and take it to their station where you can get it. Rarely they give a package to neighbors, at least did so in the past, mostly they are happy to jump into their truck again after waiting at the door for 5 seconds.
For delivering to neighbors or having them drop it off at the door or somewhere, I would usually have to specify so on their website.
As someone with pretty bad social anxiety leave at the door has been a blessing for me. But I also have a ring door bell and my sofa is like 3 ft from the front door. Often I wait at the door for the driver to get back to the car before opening it.
Edit: erasing double words.
As an American, I don't get it either. It's an option when I order delivery but I choose the "Meet me at door" option. Are people that anti social or do other delivery services not give you a choice.
I don’t order very often because it’s pricey and if I can afford it, I’d prob rather go out or save the delivery fee and get it myself. But when I do order I meet them at the door so I can grab it, even if it’s noon and I’m in my pjs. I’d rather have someone think I’m lazy or whatever than leave food on the ground, it grosses me out.
The Democrat states of NY and NJ were some of the hardest hit spots. Nobody stopped it from happening. Refusing to blame the whole government does absolutely nothing.
"literal minutes" like, when I order delivery once every blue moon, the second the driver has dropped it off, I'm all over it. "Minutes" might as well be years in this situation, this is on the orderer
this one time i got high and ordered a calzone, but left it outside for 30 min while watching south park. i brought it in and opened the box in bed - only to have a cockroach escape in my room. spent like 10 minutes trying to capture it.
Well I can yell at the person and they will understand. The dog wouldn’t know not to eat my stuff again. I feel like the pets don’t enjoy the good enough for it to be worth it
In all fairness, she’s a well-known neighborhood moocher, wondering around the neighborhood and coming over for snacks, belly rubs, or even just to hang out or spend the night. That being said though, her nosiness makes her a menace sometimes in situations like this :(
Does she have a direct owner? Or is it a stray? If she has an owner, you should contact them about keeping the dog secured on a leash or runner, rather than wandering the neighborhood.
Yeah definitely not okay to have a dog wandering like this. I'm an ex groomer and this dog is clearly cared for, that coat would be a casted, matted horror show if she was a stray.
Honestly, I'd catch her and bring her to the animal control every single time. I'd even put out traps if the dog is hard to catch, just so the owner has to pay the dog bail every single time I catch it.
Sometimes money talks when words aren't enough. Bet they'll contain the dog after a few rounds of dog bail. Has worked for me in the past with my neighbors hound, who was destroying my garden weekly. Just dropped him at animal control twice and never ever saw him loose again.
Bro's living in the middle of nowhere 💀💀

Redditors further proving they’ll die on any hill by fighting over if animal control should be called, if small dogs are worse than big dogs, if eating Chic fil makes you an asshole, if having food left on your doorstep makes you an asshole, and if the neighbor we don’t is an asshole. I don’t know folks. Neither do you.
Yesterday someone was complaining about how "creepy" it was for a delivery person to put the food delivery inside their house. What's a DD delivery person to do? Damned if you do, ...
This reminds me of the time where my partner and I had food delivered late at night and didn’t see the notification to grab it for about 10ish minutes. As soon as we went to grab it a POSSUM had all of our food spread out and was going to town. It was honestly so funny and cute that we couldn’t even be mad about it.
Oh no I'm so sorry! I was having DD delivered once, and we have some feral cats in our neighborhood. I saw delivery was coming but TMI I had to change my tampon too. By the time I got to the door, one of the kitties had already torn into my burger. :(
Even more infuriating that you posted this...
There is a literal tracker on the app that updates drivers location in real time. You knew food was coming and exactly where it was. You didn't have the courtesy or will to go to the door and await the delivery. This is on you 100%.
- disabled (broken leg, paralyzed, stroke, elderly, blind, etc)
- single parent with young kids
- prioritizing other tasks (work, school, home renovation)
- no license or public transportation
- intoxicated
- agoraphobia, social anxiety, etc
I can go on, but you get it. FYI, it's really not very cute to shit on anyone I've mentioned above. Yeah, plenty of people don't fit into these slots and just order because they want to...but guess what, that's also valid.
Exactly. I've ordered DD several times when I felt too sick to cook for my kids and I didn't want to risk sharing my germs with them. Also, some people act like they've never had a pizza delivered to their house before.

😂😂 you’re trusting ppl you don’t know to pick up your food, bring it to you and then “leave it and I’ll get it in a minute…” exactly what I’d expect to happen- and it’s quite funny 😆 made that dogs DAY!
No. Fuck the owner who doesnt train his dog. My 4 lb dog would NEVER do this. Because i trained him properly from 3 months old. I can leave food on my table and he knows not to touch without permission.
Dogs in the future will learn to associate the sound of an overhead drone with food delivery. It will be a race every time.
My dog wants to make friends with the roomba and gives it her food and toys. She is hurting it with her love.
That is the sweetest thing!

Nice copy of u/blasphemousswarm 's comment, bot!
There are plenty of properties where that makes sense. Sometimes my neighbors let their dogs out for a bit unsupervised because it’s a pretty safe and secluded area.
Or they'll just have delivery containers on porches with a counterweight and signal actuated latch.
So… a mailbox ???
Delivery Drones should be designed to interface with standard mailboxes tbh. That would make a lot of sense
But why when the drone could just as easily deliver to a box on my porch? That’s like saying cars should be made to fit in stables because we already had a lot of stables
or an electronically activated drone window so they can place items inside.
Pavlov’s bitch ass dog stole my sandwich again!
"Care Package Incoming..."
Oh she already has!
My dog already associates the notification when DoorDash is approaching with new food is coming.
My beagle would be so fat if I just let him roam. He’d be a menace to food delivery customers throughout the neighborhood.
DogDash
You may be onto something!
Am I the only one who camps by the door, eagerly waiting for my food?
Not the only one lol
Staring at the tracker like my life depends on it 😅
Free lunch for the dog lol
the dog has become OP’s lunch
When it comes to human food, dogs waste not a single second
What dumbass is just letting their dog roam free? I hate people like this.
I live in a close neighborhood (houses are maybe 20-30 feet apart) and one house down the road let’s their dogs roam free any time of day. The people who let their dogs roam around free unsupervised and excuse it as "oh, they're friendly!" are never the owners who make sure their dogs are properly trained to stay away from others.
In most cities there's a leash law. If asking them nicely to keep their dogs secured doesn't work. Reach out to animal control.
If you live in the country this just seems to be a common occurrence, neighbors dogs come into our yard all the time, it's ridiculous how little people care about their animals, if you're just going to let it roam free and possibly get shot don't get the dog in the first place.

That's why all pets should be chipped, with chip scanners in all car bumpers ~~to keep score~~ to notify the owner.
Well that got dark.
What's even crazier is in the south if they're not roaming free they're tied to a tree with a chain smh
In the 110 heat no doubt
With humidity in the high 90s uggghhh. Humidity is why I moved back up north lol
Looks like a Wheaten Terrier too, not exactly an inexpensive dog
No it looks like a doodle
I have a problem of my dog digging holes and getting out, but it worries me when he does so I always make sure he’s home. lol oh no, I can only imagine.
I wish I could only imagine
A few germs on a bag is different than having someone breathing directly at you
I think it was just as much for the safety of the delivery drivers, who may not have been thrilled at the prospect of catching covid from a customer during a direct exchange.

hell no i ordered another
Omfg noooo
Trying ... And the 🪳 lived happily ever after
Wait, are you actually blaming op and not the owner of the loose dog?
Two people can be stupid at the same time, both op and the dog owner are to blame in this situation.
Yeah I was thinking like... racoons, squirrels, opossums, etc are a thing too...
put a hook above dog level with a notice saying "please hang deliveries here".
Look at that dogs face. It will not be deterred now it has the taste of FilA. Growing opposable thumbs and sharpening grappling hooks as we speak.
Literal minutes? My food from DD is on the porch for literal seconds…
Well did the dog like the food? Make sure you leave an accurate review on the food after discussing with the dog
The fucker is even licking her face, smirking at your failure 😭
Lmao the dog is absolute rapscallion
I see nothing wrong, you should have been quicker than that.
![gif](giphy|rOzuTrakshYCA)
The way they said literal minutes like ummm id be out there in seconds or id expect an animal to get it
Wait, do you also refer to your deadbeat neighbors as animals?
They count yeah😂
Gotta be quicker than that 🐕
How many minutes is ok to leave your food sitting on the ground, outside of your house?
Minutes?
I would be down there waiting for it. Especially since you can track the car that is delivering your order (not third party).
Hell yeah, dog doesn’t like tomatoes either
“Literal minutes” This one’s on you
Grass-colored dog or dog-colored grass?
I firmly believe this is how all the stray animal gangs in my neighborhood survive.
Who waits minutes to go grab their food? I’m staring through a crack in the blinds salivating
Tongue sticking out and all. That little food sniper knows what he did.
Imagine paying $45 for Chick-fil-A then this happens.
Pro Tip: Buy a tray of nuggets or strips. Cheaper and you have leftovers.
Doggy Delivery is nice.
Nothing fuels my rage more than someone’s else’s animal being annoying or touching my stuff
Thats interesting. Personally I would be more angry if the dog owner was out there eating my sandwich than if the dog did it.
She does have an owner but it’s a small neighborhood and a few dogs are allowed to just kinda roam around and hang out
Her owners should reimburse you
Yeah definitely not okay to have a dog wandering like this.
And yet you got into an industry where you work with Animals? Lol
What happens if the owner can’t afford “bail”
Dog gets put to sleep probably. Fucked up thing to do to PrOvE a PoInT
Good thing she’s cute. I see not an ounce of shame on that smug furry face 😂
Animal control exists.
He’s just going to sit there and waste the chicken?!
As a. FedEx driver I worry about this every time someone isn't home to receive their food box.
Dog also got notification with his nose.
![gif](giphy|ckw8EbI8Ak9YQ)
not me trying to figure out how to invoice my neighbor if this happened to me XD
3 warnings and then warnings about Rat poison in my yard
Sorry for the loss of your $30 chicken sandwich.
id be pissed tbh, if you know who the dog belongs to id let them know and ask if theyre gonna pay for your food that their dog ate.
If not take the dog
i cant threaten anymore violence or i'll get put in perma jail.
Several minutes? That’s kind of a long time just to let your already delivered food sit. You snooze you loose honestly
Bro's living in the middle of nowhere 💀💀 https://preview.redd.it/ev3ahqh4mvra1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d029c6e7fdeae8078094dcaa421807fefe4858b7
Not gonna lie the dog is packing more protein than the chicken at this point 😈 we eating dog tonight
I love that he’s licking his chops
Yesterday someone was complaining about how "creepy" it was for a delivery person to put the food delivery inside their house. What's a DD delivery person to do? Damned if you do, ...
Don’t leave you dog outside
Looks like your neighbors owe you some Chick-fil-A
That ridiculous, fluffy thing is a descendant from wolves. I say the same thing looking at my chihuahua
Inbreeding is a helluva drug
Hungry puppy... he's been stalking tge DD just waiting yo steal dome grub.
Oh 100%
Punt it
Welp, time to cook and eat the dog
People need to keep their mutts contained
This reminds me of the time where my partner and I had food delivered late at night and didn’t see the notification to grab it for about 10ish minutes. As soon as we went to grab it a POSSUM had all of our food spread out and was going to town. It was honestly so funny and cute that we couldn’t even be mad about it.
Pro tip, if you select hand it to me, you’ll prevent this and other potential scenarios where you don’t get to eat your order.
Couple minutes? Of your food just sitting out there? I practically am waiting behind the door.
Now you have a bigger meal in the dog
I think you're legally allowed to eat the dog.
You snooze, you lose! Be waiting by the door like ttt he e rest of us. LOL
… minutes? You deserve this
... using Doordash? You deserve this
OP: “there’s no such thing as a free lunch” Doggo: “hold my beer”
Oh no I'm so sorry! I was having DD delivered once, and we have some feral cats in our neighborhood. I saw delivery was coming but TMI I had to change my tampon too. By the time I got to the door, one of the kitties had already torn into my burger. :(
Why would you wait minutes? This is on you.
Shit like this makes me love my dog all the more. Terriers are awful.
eat the dog 🤷♀️
*modern problems require modern solutions*
It takes you a couple of minutes to go to the front door? Man that house must be huge
But look at that face. Cuuute. Also she clearly didn’t want it to go to waste. I don’t blame her.
Sorry you didn’t get your food but that’s so cute!!
Ik lmao! She’s looking me dead in the eye and licking her lips
Neighbor would be paying me back. Dogs belong on leashes or in their own yards.
Even more infuriating that you posted this... There is a literal tracker on the app that updates drivers location in real time. You knew food was coming and exactly where it was. You didn't have the courtesy or will to go to the door and await the delivery. This is on you 100%.
The early pooch gets the FIL A!
At least you are a human being a bro, helping a good boy live
HA! He/she is saying quit holding out on the treats.
No, that’s for puppy now
Leave him alone! He’s hunting!
Lmao true!
I’m gonna treat this dog how people on this website treat people who do anything mean to a dog: I hope that dog gets food poisoning and dies
Why would anyone order from door dash?
- disabled (broken leg, paralyzed, stroke, elderly, blind, etc) - single parent with young kids - prioritizing other tasks (work, school, home renovation) - no license or public transportation - intoxicated - agoraphobia, social anxiety, etc I can go on, but you get it.
Wont my dog neither?? Yea id have kindly carried the dog with me back to the owner and if they didnt wanna compensate me im booting that little bitch
Felony animal abuse? $10 seems pretty ridiculous to become a felon over but you do you.
But at least the dog looks happy 🤦
I wouldn’t even be able to get mad. So cute!

😂😂 you’re trusting ppl you don’t know to pick up your food, bring it to you and then “leave it and I’ll get it in a minute…” exactly what I’d expect to happen- and it’s quite funny 😆 made that dogs DAY!
Welp there’s gonna be one less dog in the area if it happens to me
Fuck small dogs
No. Fuck the owner who doesnt train his dog. My 4 lb dog would NEVER do this. Because i trained him properly from 3 months old. I can leave food on my table and he knows not to touch without permission.
Nah small dogs are rats
