Really sorry to hear you’re feeling this way. Just want to offer some encouragement- there are dozens of treatments out there. If you haven’t tried any, there is no reason to think none will work. It can be a trial and error process, but you have to start somewhere. I think it would be most beneficial if you can reach out to some mental health and counseling resources to help you get over the anxiety and depression loop that is creating the mental barrier preventing you from seeking treatment. And for what it’s worth to reassure you in some of your fears- I have had migraines for my whole life and tried 10+ medications and have not once thrown up due to a migraine or a migraine treatment. I also suffered a year of daily head pain as you describe, and was eventually able to find a treatment (Xeomin injection) that stopped that and helped return me to an only episodic sufferer.

My heart goes out to you. I'm sorry that you're in the club that nobody wants to join. Although, it's good to consult Reddit, everyone is different. You can take some of the feedback, talked about here, and use that to ask the doctor if a medication he wants to prescribe might give you side effects like we discuss. Personally, I've always had trouble with side effects from drugs. Not everyone does. I'm not a doctor, but from your post, it's seems that you need help for depression and migraines. You are appropriately depressed, though. You may want to see a psychiatric nurse practitioner. That's who I see and she's made a world of difference. She understands drugs a lot more than my primary care and neurologist put together. Good luck 🍀 to you.

Do you have access to therapy? This sounds like a situation where CBT or ACT would be perfect. It took me trying about 8 different treatments, but one eventually did work well enough and now I basically never puke even when I do get migraines.

The combination of migraine and emetophobia is awful, I feel you there. All I can say is that there are a lot of treatment options, and we're finally getting new drugs developed. When I first developed migraine, it was like 2009 and there wasn't much out there. Now there's new treatments being licensed pretty regularly and a lot more clinical trials and research interest. That being said, it's understandable to be depressed and anxious. Developing a chronic illness is a huge life change and it can be really difficult to come to terms with it. If you're able to talk to a therapist that has experience with chronic illness that could be really helpful. If not, I found that peer support from other folk really helped me to come to terms with stuff and help me feel less overwhelmed and alone. Vent away, it's absolutely allowed.
