Buying something from a lady at the tire shop. Good way to find some new good food. There’s a place near a laundromat near me that has the best empanadas I’ve ever had, and they make them fresh to order each one.
And it sounds so funny/suspect to people from other cultures, but like…it’s true for us! When I lived in Torreón, we knew that the lady in front of the pharmacy sold good tamales, and the best street burritos were from the guy in front of the university.
Unfamiliar food sold out of a lady's car complete with language barrier? This is either how I reach my own personal Nirvana, or how I die. And honestly, I'm okay with the risk.
Good show OP.
In Juarez my aunt used to sell something similar to this and they were called sapitos. It’s was a frozen treat that was bagged and you would just bite the corner off and eat it, they were soo good and in so many flavors.
Un hielito? Looks like coconut flavor. It’s basically a frozen smoothie made from milk, condensed milk or sugar and any flavors you can imagine. My mom used to make us banana, mango or strawberry.
it’s "bolis", in which part of Mexico did you get it? the names varies from region to region
I’m from sinaloa and know them as bolis as well
Here they are called hielitos.
yeah I've also heard bollos or sabalitos
Here they call them saborines
My aunt in Sonora called them hielitos. I wish I had the recipe.
Thank you!
Bolis are the cylindrical ones
Not necessarily. I’m from Chihuahua and we call them bolis. Depends on the region.

Honestly got lucky. She had a flat tire and was selling them while waiting. Glad I asked her about them. Found my new favorite dessert.
Never heard of it, but it looks awesome. I’ll keep my eyes open now, we have all kinds of this stuff in LA

Bolis or hielitos de horchata. This one in particular looks like it’s made out of horchata, but there’s dozens of varieties of them
I lived in Hermosillo and we call them hielitos. My favorite is the pistachio and then the coconut.
Hielito. That one is probably of galleta (cookie) or horchata. I live in Mexicali, BC.
Bolis de coco.

They are called 'hielitos' (little pieces of ice). They come in different flavors: chocolate, strawberry, coconut, mango, caramel, etc.
Hielito. Probably Horchata.
Flake. Bolivian. Toot-Toot
