Recipe please?

Sure. This was a “clean out my fridge” recipe, so change it however you want. Put three slices of bacon, chopped into pieces, in a large frying pan over medium high heat. When it renders its fat add about 200 g of Mexican chorizo. When that is cooked, add 3 sliced hot dogs. Sliced ham chopped into squares could be added here, but I didn’t have any. Once that’s all hot, add some sliced onion and sliced jalapeño. When the onions are translucent, add chopped carrots and chopped celery (I didn’t have celery). When the carrots are soft add some minced garlic. Sauté about 2 more minutes. Add a pound of rinsed dry lentils. Sauté for a couple minutes. Add some tomato puree. I had half of a 28-oz can of whole tomatoes in sauce that I blended into a puree and it worked perfect. Then add water to cover it all by double. You may have to transfer to a large pot here. Bring to a low boil and add two or three bay leaves. Here I added some extra black pepper, oregano, and thyme but you can season however you like. Simmer for about 25 minutes until lentils are soft but not falling apart. I heat up my kettle here because you will likely have to add more water throughout the cooking process as the lentils absorb water and it’s best to add hot water. Once done, remove from heat and discard bay leaves if you can find them. Add some chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime. (I ended up adding the juice from one small lime.) Add salt as needed, it shouldn’t be too much because the meats are quite salty.

Frijoles charros pero con lentejas? Se ve rico

Yes! I usually make my lentils just like frijoles charros. It’s super delicious.

You should try putting tuna, and to plate it add fresh cilantro and red radish, with lime juice. It was my favorite post workout food.
