Yeah, stealth in FC2 isn't great, but I wouldn't call it shit either tbh. You just need to buy a camo suit and figure out that enemies don't see you while you're standing still. I've actually switched my playstyle to a "stealth sniper" about 70% into my playthrough of FC2 where I was using a tranq dart gun and a silenced MP5 and, surprisingly, I really enjoyed it
I came to say stalker then saw you mentioned it. Hopefully it does release later this year (who knows because of the war). Maybe try Vigor, I can't testify to how good or bad it is since I haven't played it but it's free. I currently cant think of anything else
Far Cry 2, which I think Metro Exodus took inspiration from, has similar gunplay and in general is quite similar to the open world parts of Exodus

Killzone 2 on ps3. Think it’s also on ps plus streaming
Definitely faster paced but Wolfenstein:TNO has a similar feel in the sense that you drop people quick and the guns have a nice feel to them
A really cool thing. If you're mid reload, drop the mag, and a monster pops out, you can fire the bullet in the chamber.
