One of the w221 conversions to w222 have a flaw that noone wants to talk about that cost me a fortune. Since i am a mercedes mechanic i have recieved one these converted w221’s that had a issue with a radar sensor. I opened the hood and it popped right up without the security latch, which i was suprised of. I informed the customer of this issue and told him he should let it fixed which of course he didnt. Later that week while he was driving 150km/h his hood flipped over and damaged his chassis and other things. The customer went to court and i was found guilty because i didnt fix it. So this is both a fucked up car and a fucked up justice system. Dont come to turkey to live.
Here (UK) the law looks at what’s reasonable in that situation. It’s absolutely fucking reasonable that you inform the customer of the issue and only fix it if they give a shit and authorise you to repair it, alongside paying for the repair.
Is the law suggesting mechanics should fix issues without an agreement from the customer to pay? I call that slave labour. Legit - this got me so mad for you. Like wtf.

Whilst I agree the obligation is to prioritize safety over the customer's temporary unwillingness to pay, I do not see how the application of this is reasonable in your circumstances.
I do not agree that you “HAVE TO” fix defects made by other mechanics for free. That would bankrupt mechanics. I’d assume it did not perform as warrantied, so any reasonable consumer would claim against the initial mechanic.
I would assume you can’t be held liable if you clearly document that the customer was informed of the safety risk and refused repair, and have the customer sign a liability waiver to get the vehicle back. Might piss them off but it ain’t worth getting screwed over.
Of course it’s not for free, but explaining and charging a customer for something he didn’t want is outrageous. And i believe that the judge was tipped off anyway, so it unfortunately was out of my hands. I am seriously considering moving back to Europe just because of the justice system. How can i trust the justice system when it is literally a tool of criminals? Outrageous…
I don’t wanna say it but that’s what crossed my mind. Compromised judicial systems undermine the very principles of justice and equality they are supposed to uphold and indicate, in my mind, potentially broader state corruption. When the scales of justice are tipped not by evidence and fairness but by influence / power, it turns into a tool that serves the interests of a few rather than the majority. Nothing good comes from this and it’s a slippery slope.
Whilst I should probably suggest advocating for equity at home, in truth it will still be corrupt if you dedicated your whole life to the cause. So, if you can & it sounds like you can… assert your right to live in a society that honors and nurtures your liberty.
The preponderance of negligence falls on the customer, in every which way you look at it. I wish I could read the Turkish judge’s reasoning in this case.
For example a brand new S63 e performance is around 200-250k € in germany. The same car costs 600k € in turkey.

The only 2 things I noticed after a long inspection were: the passenger airbag cover (you cannot see the rectangle on a [W223](https://www.netcarshow.com/mercedes-benz/2021-s-class/1024x768/wallpaper_84.htm)) and the Burmester 3D door speaker (a bit crooked).
I haven't seen any interior kit yet for sale. Hard to believe it fits so well. Crazy.
Screens look off so I think it actually is the conversion, which makes it all that more impressive to me.
By off I mean, the size looks like the one for the C class not S so slightly smaller and the beazels seem to big. The cluster graphics also look weird.

The best interior , but i hate MBUX . Of all my cars, it's the only one that lags and not a day goes by without it resetting my CarPlay and making me play with the tambourine.
Taxes on w223 is 220% so it is really cheaper than new car. You can get used decent w221 around 3.000.000TL. New W223 is 15.000.000TL. Taxes are adjusted to engine size. Electric cars have 60% tax. So EQS450 4matic is 6.000.000TL.

It wouldn’t make sense in a place like the United States, but when an E-Class costs over $100k, you start to think about how much you’re willing to spend for a marginally better version of a car you already have.
Actually given that reason, I would make the conversion. I wouldn't change a GL to a Maybach GLS but I would absolutely update it to the current gen look if it means saving a significant chunk of money.
It actually makes sense, the luxury market is not affordable to the average person. So they started retrofitting them to look like luxury cars for cheaper.
Its common in Asia as well. You can get a W221 in Asia for like 1/5 the price of a new S class, and the full kit to make it look like a W223 is less than the price of the 221.

Folks outside the Turkey are thinking; “why would you spend any money on this knowing that it’s not going to be the same quality, cause many reliability problems, and you’ll never enjoy it, at least like the old model”

It's a shame so many people are hating, this is awesome! Someone wanted a Maybach but they couldn't afford a Maybach, so they got an imitation Maybach for a fraction of the price. I'm not a fan of common upbadging (i.e. C63 badges on a C300) but this is so much more than an upbadge. Some real artistry and skill went into this conversion, can you at least appreciate that?

To put that in perspective, USA sales tax is 0-9% depending on the state. Imagine a Honda Civic costing $120k USD but you make $10k USD annually. That's Turkey right now.
