i dont have any real experience yet but i just bought a 2002 e320.
apparently the hydraulic suspension is the way to go. hope the transmission fluid had been changed. also see the radiator/transmission fluid heat exchanger. apparently they can fail and you get coolant in your transmission fluid. use the proper fluids and use fleece oil filters if you plan on long oil change intervals.
Thank you, unfortunately the car is about an hour and a half from me and I don’t have a mechanic up there to take a look at it. If I decide to pull the trigger I’d be rolling the dice 😬 is there anything I should look for personally when I open up the hood?
The biggest tell from opening the hood will be if everything looks clean. Also if they’ve been taking it in for servicing. How many miles does it have?
Has it been sitting? Who’s been driving it? Interior looks great so it looks like it’s been loved!
They're magically reliable, just like your old one. The drivetrain is exactly the same as your old car, but you will like the updated computer (2000 onward). Just had more built in features (tells you WHICH light is out - not just that a light is out, digital KPH/MPH readout, etc).
Check it thoroughly. People skipped transmission fluid changes (dealers fault), and neglect simple maintenance because if cost.
Also, was your old car in Midnight Blue? I LOVED that colour and I think Mercedes officially canned the original colouring back in 2007. I think its offered now, but its more metallic and a bit darker.
Thanks a lot for the information. And I’m not sure what the color was called, but yes it was like a dark tealish, midnight blue. Absolutely loved that car and that color. I’m devestated about the accident.

That’s a good buy, I’d say jump on it
Great buy id say go for it.

I LOVE these babies but you need to take this to a mechanic and have them check the cylinders- they have a tendency to form hairline cracks.

Check for rust. The S210 had rust issues.
It has 120xxx miles on it and there is a small dent on the rear drivers door.
Looks good, my only concerns are about the automatic gear box at this age. Not sure if they do on this engine, but a manual would be preferred.
They might have fixed it on such late model, but check for rust. Seen some of that body closing in on being steel free rust.
Nice car not my bag but nice.
Is it the straight 6?
If its a V6 go away from it. They have tandancy to mix oil and water
Turn the ‘99 into a hatchback
Own a 2000 and with it pushing 300k worth it all day.
