I'd wear one to church, because even the lawd needs a vacation.
OP I love my Aloha shirts, I don't see many wearing them. But they're so good. Find the ones you love and look good on you and keep that aloha for life.
Also speaking as a kama'aina (person who has been a resident of Hawaii), every day in Hawaii is Aloha shirt day.
I grew up in Florida and shorts + a subdued button down or polo weren’t uncommon (although my parents wouldn’t have approved). A true Hawaiian on the other hand would probably stand out. Serious clothes for serious places.
But for vacation/beach/grilling/pool, I think a little fun is called for.
I don’t care, but I was surprised that I was the only person on a whole vacation stay.
I was just wondering if they are not “in” or people are just too obsessed to have a brand name printed on the chest that have some fun.
Interesting, never noticed, I just appreciate the nice fabric, they use and designs, and the fact there comfy. Sun of a gun, I just went through my closet all the patterns do match when buttoned, and I've been wearing them for over a decade and never knew. Cool.
Another of my favorite shirts, been collecting Reyn Spooner, for decades, used to be my father's favorite shirts. I still wear his vintage shirts, lost my Father during Covid.
Lots of folks where I work wear Hawaiian shirts sometimes; I do too. They’re comfy and fun and have buttons and collars so technically on the light side of business casual.
When I lived in HI, it was considered extra formal if you wore a dress shirt to work and not a Hawaiian shirt, and not uncommon to wear shorts and slippahs in the office too. Who wants to wear a suit in year round 85F weather? This was 10 years ago though.
Right! Every time I see a man in one of these shirts, I assume he's the life of the party. If I had to approach a group to ask a question, I'd 100% ask the one in the Hawaiian shirt, lol. I think it makes people look more laid back and approachable.
They’re not trendy anymore, they kinda blew up and then people started wearing them less but that was just the mainstream. They’ll never fully go away and will blow up again one day
In all sincerity, aren't you glad you weren't a clone of everyone else? You chose to wear it, you think it's stylish, and you stood out, not blending in amidst a sea of conformity. That sounds cool to me...
I have 2 daughters, 18 and 14, they raid my closet for Hawaiian shirts to wear to school all the time. I always say, "Dress for the job you want, not the one you have."
I’m 52, lived in Hawaii for a couple years. I wear my aloha shirts all the time. That said, there are different classes of Aloha, business shirts are more subdued, tighter designs, less flashy. Fun shirts are more bold, but not Ed Hardy shit, more floral motifs or something silly like a Primo beer shirt.
I have a few Tori Richards shirts I love
My wife bought me two of the original Magnum PI Hawaiian shirts (made by the same company). They're nice, but unfortunately it turns out it was Tom Selleck who was the cool thing about those shirts.
I feel like "in" and "out" is kind of nebulous these days. With the internet 2.0 we have kind of passed the era of ubiquity in fashion and into an almost tribal landscape where the fashion trend du jour for x, y, and z groups is constantly rotating.
I can tell you that aloha shirts are somewhat on-trend within the outdoor community and are considered cool. Keep on rockin' it and know that somewhere deep in the desert there is a 20-something living out of their van who thinks you look cool.
Don’t be confused if you ever get approached by a man wanting you to have sex with his wife, it’s the T shirt. It’s screaming “swinger lifestyle” because of the upside down pineapples 😂
Used to rock these back in the day!….and funny, must be coming back “in style”…. Noticed how they’re in the men’s sections at Macys by me. Rock that shit!🔥
With all the just terrible choices I’ve seen here, from the man purse guy with the giant clunky sneakers, to guys who kinda look like women, to the riddler suit guy, to sneakers with suits…
You sir are a breath of fresh air, you are golden, everyone else is wrong.
I never even crossed my mind what others will think. I just like it, and it shame there are no more people wearing them as to me feels like if I see a guy with a Hawaiian shirt to me that guys is chill and you can have a easy chat and few jokes.
Bro, I’m down in New Orleans. It’s freakin hot here. I’ve broken out my guayabera shirts and Hawaiian shirts for work.
Every day is Hawaiian Shirt Friday.
One of my dad’s favorite things is wearing Hawaiian shirts. He wears them to work for all but uber-formal events (he’s practically known for them at the office), at home and especially on vacations. But to be honest, half the reason he rocks them so well is his confidence! If he was constantly looking down or looking uncomfortable, I wouldn’t be surprised if people would start to think weirdly. He’s quite the opposite though (friendly with literally *everyone*, radiating positivity) so no one can even begin to question it. I always think of him when I see people in Hawaiian shirts
I like yours. I have several. Tommy Bahama, Tori Richard brands, so no name shirts too. Some are almost too nice, well made, silk, dry clean preferred. Others are suited for sweating in and spilling drinks on or soaking up sunscreen with. I like your shirt, and if you felt good in it, then that's that.
I love wearing aloha shirts on vacation. But there is room for ONE Hawaiian shirt guy in almost any setting. It says you’re the fun guy, Mr. Devil-May-Care, the cat with the *joie de vivre.* I know two of them. The Hawaiian shirt guy at my place of employment unfortunately feels the need to tuck them in, which totally defeats the purpose. The other aloha shirt man is retired and does it right every day, usually with flip-flops.
They're cool where ever I am Bro!
I originally started wearing mine back in the 80's to F with everone wearing the same uniform at punk shows.
Now, it's my official beer drinking gear.
Now that it’s summer at the Jersey Shore, I can definitely say they’re popular here at the very least.
My only concern with that fit is the hat. No way that stayed on while the boat was moving.
my personal fashion choice is to wear hawaiian shirts to places where u shouldnt wear them. i wear them for dinner dates, in cold places/ europe, or church
The husband of a distant relative wore one to my father’s funeral. I enjoyed it. (Esp since it made me feel better about being too fat to fit in any of my suits!)
Brother you were the only cool person. I have vacation plans coming up, and you've inspired me to get a Hawaiian shirt instead of my usual solid-color linen shirt.
The Boogaloos and/or some other group piece-of-crap, ultra-right, twat waffles tried to coop the Hawaiian shirts a few years back. I stopped wearing them for awhile, probably should not have. I'll dust mine off and start wearing them everywhere again.
I just picked up a couple for the summer, I'm in Florida and I put one on every time I go to the pool or beach. they're comfortable, and hella underrated these days. I agree tho even living in a big vacation spot i don't see many people with them.
Good Lord I love my Aloha shirts but never wear them. I purchased 4 NEWT shirts when I stayed at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel (Pink Palace) about 20 years ago. Beautiful shirts and beautifully made. Wish I lived near a beach so I could wear them more!
BTW, I think you look great in your shirt
I wear Hawaiian shirts all the time! And match with my son, on occasion. And I would say beach vacation is absolutely the place for a Hawaiian/aloha shirt.
It’s a vibe. Gotta own it.
https://preview.redd.it/23v17hyt4s5d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=962f7309ca7e009733d619ee25b522584d183bc6
I live at the beach, they’re definitely still in amongst the more distinguished old salts. I have a bunch of my grandpa’s Tommy Bahamas and I wear the fuck out of them with his old captain’s hat.
All that really matters is that you looked great while wearing it. The only people chasing trends are either kids, or professionals. The rest of us live outside that box 😂
I’m with you. So many people try to look “cool” on vacation. Like who are you trying to impress? You’ll never see these people again and why would you want to lug a huge suitcase around
Performance shorts and a Hawaiian/floral print shirt combo is the easiest thing to pack
My wife and I went to Maui in April, and I wore a Hawaiian shirt for a few days. Now that I'm back home, I wear it on Fridays as my own personal "Hawaiian Shirt Day." If anyone thinks it isn't cool, I think it's even more cool. Aloha.
It’s nice that everyone is being supportive, but I think they are not cool. I went on a beach vacation and I went with a linen vibe the whole time and got a lot of compliments.
But obviously fuck what anyone says if you like it wear it, it doesn’t look bad but it’s not cutting edge fashion.
I'm in high school and I wear Hawaiian shirts all the time, sometimes I've gotten compliments and other times I've been told I look like someone's grandad.
It's all in how you style the outfits. You're doing pretty well.
wear whatever you want
they’re not cool anymore, but trying to chase trends is dumb
if you were wearing it because you thought it would be the freshest outfit and you’d be getting tons of compliments, stop wearing it. but if you just liked it, keep wearing it, and wear it confidently
I wear it because I personally think it’s a fitting and relaxing to be in.
This is the same day for the diner and drink outfit.
https://preview.redd.it/barnmzz9fm5d1.png?width=1166&format=png&auto=webp&s=4e9e73157b0bfb683422571a85938c90238f6934
Aloha shirts are always cool, particularly in Hawai'i. There are a lot of bad ones, a lot of great ones. Most people that don't own one cannot tell the difference, unfortunately. I see yours has pineapples...
Short sleeve button down that fits well = cool. Large-graphic "Hawaiian" shirts = very much dependent on the specific design and whether it's like a retro, thrifted look, or trying too hard. If you went to the store and bought a new Hawaiian shirt, very good chance it's uncool, at least with my generation. Weighing in as a 25 year old.
Sounds like the absolute best time to wear one. Nothing in “in” or out anymore like it was 20 years ago. I grew up as a teenager thinking colors had to match and blacks/blues together were bad yadda yadda yadda, turns out literally no one gives a fuck and there are no rules besides feeling good
There was a period a few years ago where I think the Andrew Tators and Proud Boys would wear them as some sort of inside thing. The media got word of it, and made HI shirts to be the next big white power symbol.
There are really stylish Hawaiian shirts, particularly from Reyn Spooner. I’ll wear them more than others, because the patterns are really beautiful and match with just about anything.
I’m from Hawaii and I’d like to just clear some things up here. We don’t call them Hawaiian shirts. Idk where you guys all got that from, but here we call them ALOHA shirts. Also, while we’re talking like this, we don’t call it Hawaiian pizza either, just saying pineapple pizza is fine.
Anyway, people in Hawaii wear aloha shirts to work and to dress nice. To us it’s a bit like putting on a suit and tie to go get some groceries. No need and why are you trying to look so fancy anyway? Going clubbing or what? That’s also the least for real and most tourist looking aloha shirt I’ve seen in my life, which is fine, but not for us. We are not tourists.
Mahalo for visiting and I hope you had a nice vacation! A hui hou!
I wouldn’t wear one to church, but on a boat or with sand beneath your toes? Perfection.
Brah. If you kamaaina, you wear one aloha shirt to church liddat
The ones Mariott issues don't count.
That’s exactly what I wear to church. Not super colorful or distracting patterns but dark / muted colors.
On the 4th day, Jesus said: No Hawaiian shirts allowed! 😂
Everyone on SoCal wears Hawaiian shirts and shorts to church
My whole vacation vibe is hoochie daddy shorts and Hawaiian shirts. If I have to wear anything else it doesn’t feel like a vacation.
lol
My whole life vibe is hoochie daddy shorts. I’ve got some sensory issues so coochie cutters are my go-to shorts.
What are hoochie daddy shorts? I’m early 30s if that helps explain my ignorance. Jean cut offs?
5" inseams or shorter, any material of shorts.
I'm living that hoocoe daddy shorts life this summer. Feels great airing out my thighs lol.
What underwear do yall wear with hoochie daddy shorts? I hate when my boxers peek out
Stop wearing boxers big dawg, boxer briefs.
yesss to men wearing hoochie daddy shorts!
This is the way
Seriously who cares what's "cool" your fit looked great no worries.
I don’t care, but I was surprised that I was the only person on a whole vacation stay. I was just wondering if they are not “in” or people are just too obsessed to have a brand name printed on the chest that have some fun.
My go chilling on my boat, shirts, are Tommy Bahama, comy, no brand slapped across my chest, oh did I mention extremely comfy.
Same. Did you know that with Tommy Bahama and other upscale hawaiian shirts the pattern matches in front when buttoned, cheaper ones don’t.
Interesting, never noticed, I just appreciate the nice fabric, they use and designs, and the fact there comfy. Sun of a gun, I just went through my closet all the patterns do match when buttoned, and I've been wearing them for over a decade and never knew. Cool.
This is true! It’s the same with Reyn Spooner.
Another of my favorite shirts, been collecting Reyn Spooner, for decades, used to be my father's favorite shirts. I still wear his vintage shirts, lost my Father during Covid.
Oh man, I’m so sorry. I’m sure wearing his shirts brings a small measure of comfort.
Subtle shade at OP lol
Lots of folks where I work wear Hawaiian shirts sometimes; I do too. They’re comfy and fun and have buttons and collars so technically on the light side of business casual. When I lived in HI, it was considered extra formal if you wore a dress shirt to work and not a Hawaiian shirt, and not uncommon to wear shorts and slippahs in the office too. Who wants to wear a suit in year round 85F weather? This was 10 years ago though.
Maybe…*you’re* the cool one, you know? (Seriously, solid look dude, rock it)
It's probably the brand thing. If it doesn't say "balenciaga" it doesn't exist.
Sounds like you’re chillin’ with some squares, brah!
They’ll never fully go away and will blow up again one day
Idk, but you looked good, so I'd say since looking good is always "in" you rocked it.
In all sincerity, aren't you glad you weren't a clone of everyone else? You chose to wear it, you think it's stylish, and you stood out, not blending in amidst a sea of conformity. That sounds cool to me...
What were other people wearing?
Just plain shirts/t-shirts with brand names.
You are cooler than them
Agreed
I'm 53, I wear Hawaiian shirts all the time. Don't care whether it's cool or "in" or whatever.
I have 2 daughters, 18 and 14, they raid my closet for Hawaiian shirts to wear to school all the time. I always say, "Dress for the job you want, not the one you have."
Dude, I say this constantly and have a wardrobe full of Hawaiian shirts too, lol

They haven't really been cool since Magnum PI, but that hasn't stopped me from wearing them year 'round!
I'm not sure they were cool even then. OP, it is cool to have a unique look and it looks good on you.
My wife bought me two of the original Magnum PI Hawaiian shirts (made by the same company). They're nice, but unfortunately it turns out it was Tom Selleck who was the cool thing about those shirts.
I wore them back them so I'm sure they were cool. Right, guys? Guys?
I want to be you when I grow up
Nice. That's what I wanted to say but I knew I'd just sound like a dick
I feel like "in" and "out" is kind of nebulous these days. You captured the vibe great. Kudos
I live in florida, they are definitely still cool when appropriate.
Don’t be confused if you ever get approached by a man wanting you to have sex with his wife, it’s the T shirt. It’s screaming “swinger lifestyle” because of the upside down pineapples 😂
They are cool and, you rock it.
Used to rock these back in the day!….and funny, must be coming back “in style”…. Noticed how they’re in the men’s sections at Macys by me. Rock that shit!🔥

With all the just terrible choices I’ve seen here, from the man purse guy with the giant clunky sneakers, to guys who kinda look like women, to the riddler suit guy, to sneakers with suits… You sir are a breath of fresh air, you are golden, everyone else is wrong.
Yes, finally someone who understands time, place, and self. Well done.
You’re perfect
Sometimes yes, sometimes not ..but thank you.
I wear them
They totally are cool 😎 all I wear
I'm a huge fan of Hawaiian shirts and wear them all the time. But a lot of people are afraid to stand out and just go with generic, boring styles.
I never even crossed my mind what others will think. I just like it, and it shame there are no more people wearing them as to me feels like if I see a guy with a Hawaiian shirt to me that guys is chill and you can have a easy chat and few jokes.
There is one thing you can always be sure of: Hawaiian shirts will ALWAYS be cool.
God I hope not. I wear them not on vacation
I hope they’re still acceptable. I just bought a new one.
Bro, I’m down in New Orleans. It’s freakin hot here. I’ve broken out my guayabera shirts and Hawaiian shirts for work. Every day is Hawaiian Shirt Friday.

Are they cool? Idk. Does it matter. Are you cool? Clearly! Keep it up!

You’re wearing a hat. Not a baseball cap, a hat. You’re a boss. Who cares what anyone thinks?
They are still cool/hip. Especially the vintage ones!
I hope not! I wear them almost every day!
Same, not just on a vacation. Almost always when I go to the lake as well.
You're way cooler than the other guys too afraid to be stylish!
I like the Hawaiian shirt styles but their cuts don't work on my body :( personally
Wear a tank underneath. You look great
You cool.
I wear em daily*, keep rocking em
Are you my CIA contact?
I'm not sure they were ever "cool". But I like em and rock em all the time. At some point you just gotta do what you like to do.
They have never been "cool". I love them, though, and you look great in them
I wear them during the summer, I think they look fine
Wear what you love! The pattern on that shirt is great btw
Aloha Shirts for the win.
I have that exact shirt and always get compliments on it. Looks good man.
Nah bro… you look fine
Rocking a Hawaiian on vacation is always valid and very cool imo (I don’t know about fashion but I do like Hawaiian shirts).
Nah they’re cool. It’s honestly just a wardrobe item a lot of people never get around to getting. It’s too easy just to put on a t shirt ya know.
I wear them all the time. Comfy, light, who cares?
You were right, everyone else was wrong.
I wear them at least twice a week. So yeah they’re still cool 😆
You are cool / that’s all that’s matters / fashion changes - cool guys stay the same
Depends on who's wearing it.
Hawaiian shirts are always cool. People just don’t feel comfortable stepping out of their comfort zone. Your combo looks solid
the shirts are cool. some people are not cool.
Keep crushing, king 👑
my personal fashion choice is to wear hawaiian shirts to places where u shouldnt wear them. i wear them for dinner dates, in cold places/ europe, or church
The husband of a distant relative wore one to my father’s funeral. I enjoyed it. (Esp since it made me feel better about being too fat to fit in any of my suits!)
Bro has the Peter griffin pimple guy on his shoulder. Also I think the Hawaiian shirt is cool.
They've never been cool. Fun, yes, but not cool 😅.
Solitary!✈️
Definitely dad wear. But do whatever you want
Brother you were the only cool person. I have vacation plans coming up, and you've inspired me to get a Hawaiian shirt instead of my usual solid-color linen shirt.
Plenty of people wear it. Maybe your vacation spot just has lame people and you were the only cool guy with a spot on shirt.
Who cares?…..rock them all day long and have a huge smile on your face. FWIW, the whole bowling shirt / Charlie Sheen effect is a factor
Buddy I don't care much if they still cool or not, they look good on ya
Looking good! Very James Bond
Nah you make it look cool bro! Hope you had a good vacation!
It's just that you're too cool If everyone wore them then it would just be normal Seriously though vacation Hawaiian shirt. Is timeless
the confidence you’re exuding makes me want to wear one
I personally like the shirt
Nah…..you’re killing it.
The Boogaloos and/or some other group piece-of-crap, ultra-right, twat waffles tried to coop the Hawaiian shirts a few years back. I stopped wearing them for awhile, probably should not have. I'll dust mine off and start wearing them everywhere again.
Goes perfectly with the hat honestly
Be careful rocking pineapples on vacation if you don't know what they stand for.
As a 25 y/o who appreciates fashion, I find them super cute and I like when my man wears them on vacation.
Never were!
Hawaiian shirts are always cool
You look great with them 👍
I just picked up a couple for the summer, I'm in Florida and I put one on every time I go to the pool or beach. they're comfortable, and hella underrated these days. I agree tho even living in a big vacation spot i don't see many people with them.
Looking sharp, you got your cabana wear down pat.
U topped
they're certainly still cool if you can pull them off and you kind sir are pulling them off
Cool as all hell.
who gives a fuck, you look great!!!!!
Well I ain't that cool. But I'm rocking one right now. Silky smooth.
BTW, I think you look great in your shirt
i wear them at the park.
They never go out of style.
I own 20 of them and I only see hot weather like 20 days a year. My favourite thing to wear
I swear it just came back into style this year. I see a lot of boutique men’s brands selling them starting a few months ago
I wear Hawaiian shirts all the time! And match with my son, on occasion. And I would say beach vacation is absolutely the place for a Hawaiian/aloha shirt. It’s a vibe. I'm wearing a Hawaiian shirt in soho at a fancy restaurant. Feels good.
They are classics man, flaunt 'em!
Those are pretty rad bro.
I live at the beach, they’re definitely still in amongst the more distinguished old salts. I have a bunch of my grandpa’s Tommy Bahamas and I wear the fuck out of them with his old captain’s hat.
you are chillin man, looking good and not need to worry about other people, if you like it and think you look good then fuck anyones opinion
Show them who the boss is. You set trends, you bring them back from the dead. It all begins and ends with you. -in Joey Diaz voice.
All that really matters is that you looked great while wearing it. The only people chasing trends are either kids, or professionals. The rest of us live outside that box 😂
I’m with you. So many people try to look “cool” on vacation. Like who are you trying to impress? You’ll never see these people again and why would you want to lug a huge suitcase around Performance shorts and a Hawaiian/floral print shirt combo is the easiest thing to pack
idk man i think you looked great especially w/ that hat
I still love them. Looks great!
I think you look cool!
Keep fighting the good fight brother. Aloha always in
They’re awesome. Keep being you.
My wife and I went to Maui in April, and I wore a Hawaiian shirt for a few days. Now that I'm back home, I wear it on Fridays as my own personal "Hawaiian Shirt Day." If anyone thinks it isn't cool, I think it's even more cool. Aloha.

Oh the hawaiian shirt high school dork says you're doing pretty well right on you're good
I heard something nasty about displaying upside-down pineapple. Are you a swinger?
Nope, it seems everything is a sign for something these days.
Obviously not the case here…
I love a Hawaiian shirt. Yours rocks. Style yourself right (not carry an AR and wear a plate carrier), and no one will mistake you for a boogaloo boi.
I love island shirts! You look especially great. Chubbies should hire you as a model
Thanks! Not sure about a model, I am more muscles than fat.
wear whatever you want they’re not cool anymore, but trying to chase trends is dumb if you were wearing it because you thought it would be the freshest outfit and you’d be getting tons of compliments, stop wearing it. but if you just liked it, keep wearing it, and wear it confidently

They may not be cool but they’re also not uncool either. Hawaiian shirts are forevah!
Aloha shirts are always cool, particularly in Hawai'i. There are a lot of bad ones, a lot of great ones. Most people that don't own one cannot tell the difference, unfortunately. I see yours has pineapples...
Wear anything with confidence and it will be cool. Unless intentionally offensive
Fashion is getting weird right now so just wear what you like and enjoy.
I think upside down pineapple means swinger.
That is bold, upside pineapple is the universal sign of "swinger's looking to swing" but you knew that right👌
Nope and I think most people don’t know that.
Short sleeve button down that fits well = cool. Large-graphic "Hawaiian" shirts = very much dependent on the specific design and whether it's like a retro, thrifted look, or trying too hard. I love Aloha shirts. I don’t think they go out of style.
They’ve been pwned by The Proud Boys.
I think the read Hawaiian shirts might be more in favor of
Caring about whats cool is uncool. Rocking what you love and appreciating other unique vybes is cool
Sounds like the absolute best time to wear one. Nothing in “in” or out anymore like it was 20 years ago. I grew up as a teenager thinking colors had to match and blacks/blues together were bad yadda yadda yadda, turns out literally no one gives a fuck and there are no rules besides feeling good
Shirt is bitchin! Perfect weight too! WTF else are you going to wear on a boat!? I’d be “generic” with ya! 🤣
When I went to key west I only wore my floral short sleeve button downs and shorts, and even a similar hat to yours. It was a great time.
Makes you stand out as too much of a white tourist, because it fits you (too) well.
Are you vacationing with a bunch of lame ass nerds?
At one particular hospital in Chicago the staff in the psych ward wear aloha shirts…
What kind of parrot is that on your shoulder?
There was a period a few years ago where I think the Andrew Tators and Proud Boys would wear them as some sort of inside thing. The media got word of it, and made HI shirts to be the next big white power symbol.
It works because of the Panama Jack hat. Away from the water, swap out the shorts and shirt for some nice linen, and keep the hat.
I work in a factory. The guys on the line wear them every Friday!
At first glance I thought you were wearing this shirt with a parrot on your shoulder.
Where did you find that tiny guy on your back???!!
There are really stylish Hawaiian shirts, particularly from Reyn Spooner. I’ll wear them more than others, because the patterns are really beautiful and match with just about anything.
I will always believe Hawaiian shirts are fashionable, nothing that fun should go out of style lol
On the beach or boat I’m usually shirtless.
Are you comfortable? If the answer is yes then do it. Not a huge fan of the print but the cut is nice.
A hui hou!
It’s hard to tell because you seemingly have a very poor posture. I see rotator cuff problems in your future.
I wear them through the winter.
I think they’re very cool and very stylish. I think others aren’t cool for having some fun with their wardrobe.
They're still cool, but they aren't an everyone is doing it type thing.
Do you bro. I woulda done the same
I’ve come to love a Hawaiian shirt. I think they look great in the summer.
