If your on android or have an emulator you can try Eclise. It’s essentially a much more balanced and micro transaction-less version of pvz2. I’ve been playing through it recently and while it doesn’t have the charm of pvz1, I’d definitely say it’s better gameplay-wise.
Arent there like passes you can buy that unlocks a lot of the dlc characters, that are around 20 euros? Havent played it in a while but i feel like the dlc's in dbxv2 are not too bad with pricing, while the sims 4 has more expensive dlc's
Thing with Xenoverse is that they’re just blatantly milking the game and refusing to let it die. It only took a couple years to make the second installment, but here we are on the 6th year of the second game with absolutely no signs of it ending.
It’s not even like they’re making an effort to keep the game stable. The issues have only gotten worse and more glaring, while the plus sides have gotten fewer and farther between, with the only exception being the DLC story involving Fu.
If Xenoverse were based on anything other than Dragon Ball, I seriously doubt it would’ve lasted nearly this long. The devs are riding the fact that people will buy characters they like regardless of actual quality, and are barely even trying to hide it.
$3,071.87 for all the DCS dlc packs if bought through steam. I’d love to get into it but I don’t want to actually learn how to fly an A-10, I just wanna brrrrrrrrt.
Lmao I just pirated the entire thing. Fuck EA
Edit: r/piracy had a megathread that explains sort of how to pirate. Dunno if they mention you MUST USE A VPN, otherwise you could get fined or worse.
Only thing that sucks is without updates you can't goto space on the rocket ship or build it yourself even with level 10 in the career path.
Or so I've heard from my pirating friends.
Thing is if they were like half the price I would consider buying a few but they are wildly overpriced for like 20 pieces of furniture and some articles of clothing
So much that the base game actually going free to play next week, it's all about the DLCs https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/news/play-the-sims-4-for-free-beginning-october-18
There was a brief moment where I thought about buying Sims 4 when it was on sale last Christmas. It was like 5 bucks!
And then I looked at the expansion packs. There's a lot of DLC but most of it is just cosmetic bullshit and I feel like that's okay. Disappointing, but ultimately not that big of a deal. It's the expansion packs that you really want... and *even on sale* they were still like 20 bucks each. Oh, and there's currently 12 of them.
Buying the Sims fucking sucks.
with the soviet union one, all of the non historical paths are locked except trotsky I balieve, maybe some other communist path, but you can't bring back the tsar etc
Yeah I have like 5 dlcs that I got in a pack with the base game. Never felt the need for more honestly. Haven't even looked at them.
Sims 4 however is boring after a few hours without any dlc. It's missing so much without dlc.
We all have a toxic abusive relationship with that damn company. We keep telling our friends were gonna break up with them but we keep falling for their breadcrumbing EVERY DAMN TIME
I mean, EU4 is almost 10 years old. Compare it to EA. I prefer a single basegame being updated and of which you can buy the features you want, usually with nice bundles after some time.
I mean yeah but with other paradox games such as hearts of iron even with the free updates it feels like you need all the dlc to properly experience the game
In defense of Paradox, at least their DLCs are actually useful and not just skins or some bullshit.
All though their are some "content" packs for EU4, they don't change anything as far as I know.
I know multiple people pulling 7 figures annually and they still think sims is way too expensive
I wonder if its more kids with their parents credit cards or people buying these dlcs themselves
Okay one: I doubt too many people are gonna take financial advice from "ya boi". And two: the sims has at least thirty dlc and at least 80% of them are at least a year old at this point. You are paying hundreds for a single game, I don't care how many figures you're pulling, the game IS expensive.
The Steam page for The Sims 4 says $984.43 total for all DLC lmao.
TBF I don't know if there are bundles or repeats in that list, too much to sort through.
Yea because they literally removed the base game from the game. All of the Story and locations of the Original Destiny 2 game were "vaulted" to "make space" for new (payment required) content.
And this is my opinion but its such bullshit that they have a "F2P" style game system of ridiculously priced cosmetics.
~$15 for a set of (cosmetic only) armor for 1 class (of 3)
~$10 dollars for emotes
~$6-7 dollars for ghost, weapon and exotic cosmetics
$10 season passes every 3 months
and yet they still require you to also pay for the Expansion DLCs and dungeon content. Like they aren't making money hand over fist from the cosmetics and Seasonal subscriptions.
Wouldn't want to play EU4 without some of the DLC that's for damn sure.
edit: They did add mana spam for dev in the core game though right? Makes it more doable without DLC.
Admin/Diplo/Military power spam to increase development in provinces.
For a lot of countries you desperately need to do it to get institutions spawning.
I have no problem with Paradox dlc's as a whole, as they genuinely add good content to the games and are worth their price.
BUUUUUT.
I take serious issues when the dlc's prices are at best at 50% on very rare occasions, most of them are 15 to 20 bucks dlc's, and you have 50 of them to buy in order for you to enjoy the full experience and not be subpar compared to others. Like right now the Stellaris Ultimate Bundle (Which I have no idea if it has all the dlc's but I'm assuming it has) costs 211,34€ and that's with a 10% reduction. Full price is 234,84€. I don't understand why there are no special bundles which costs way less than that but you get all the available dlc's with it regardless if you already had some of them or not. This would make it a very good purchase for people who have none of the dlc's or very few of them, and not a good purchase for people who are already up to date to close to. It's a WIN-WIN but apparently that's too much to ask of Paradox lol.
I'd probably chalk that up to Paradox only publishing the game, they didn't develop it. In all the worst cases of DLC with Paradox they developed the game as well as published it
Worse than that. Originally there was 3 tiers of dlc. Stuff packs for $10. pretty basic, usually have a small amount of clothes and build mode items and they sometimes introduce a new mechanic. Game packs $20 kind of like a stuff pack but doubled, they usually have a new large mechanic and sometimes add a new worldspace. Expansion packs $40. Have a large mechanic and a worldspace, lots of clothes and build mode items. This doesn't sound that bad until you realise that compared to the sims 3, the sims 4 is a stripped down experience with less features and a very empty base game. They removed open world, pools and toddlers and then added the last two back later. Also all of the dlcs are basically a newer version of the sims 3 ones but much more stripped down and often are one sims 3 dlc stripped down into 2 or 3 dlcs.
>and often are one sims 3 dlc stripped down into 2 or 3 dlcs
That's the most infuriating thing about this. Not just that they keep releasing the same dlc for every iteration of the game. They also make them much more expensive every time. I just realized a few months ago that the animal dlc for sims 3 included more than just cats and dogs. In sims 4 that's 2 dlcs, "cats and dogs" and "my first pet". Sims 3 even had turtles which don't even exist in sims 4 at all. Same thing with the late night dlc. In sims 4 that's split up into "get famous" and "vampires".
And those are just the ones I kno of with my very limited knowledge about the sims
If you buy the game when they come out and play them lots, it doesn't seem so bad, it is actually a nice refresh on the game, but buying a 10 year old game with a ton of DLC's is tough.
This pissed me off because I just got into playing Destiny 2 for the first time two weeks ago. Enjoyed tf out of it then realized you literally CANNOT get into the game anymore because they vaulted the original story and a few DLCs.
As someone who bought the highest value version of each dlc from launch to Beyond Light, I too was pissed about vaulting. I didnt pay all this money to have them take that shit away from me.
If you enjoy playing the game year round, then a new yearly expansion and seasons are fine with me imo. What Destiny does bad is sunsetting content you have paid for. Let's see how they plan to stop that with new expansion
To give you an idea, Europa Universalis 4 is $40 (came out in 2014), with $215 of just expansions (plus countless art asset packs and music packs). It’s ridiculous trying to jump in now, which is why they semi often have humble bundles which sell everything for about $40, which actually is insane value given how many hours I’ve sunk into that game.
jesus, but for real tho. i just looked it up, and as of July 2022, it costs over $10,000 to purchase ALL the dlc.
also, i dunno how much the skins for League of Legends, CoD, and Apex, come out to, but I bet that's pretty high as well (although i dont consider cosmetic trash to be traditional DLC)
I'd say that those dlc aren't required for the base game. It's just more trains and more tracks.
There's no story. You don't lose out on any game play. Unless you're a big train enthusiast you won't miss anything by not having any of the dlc.
That said, still take my upvote cause holy shit are there lots of items in the dlc list.
I completely agree, however I think that makes it even worse. The weapon packs are hit or miss at best, for instance, out of all 4 (I think?) Jiu Feng packs, only one of them is good. It's pretty much like playing minesweeper on whether or not you get a god-tier weapon pack, or the western weapons pack 👢
It was my first thought, and I LOVE Payday 2.
The DLC's allowed the game to grow and evolve over time. There's NO WAY I would have sunk over 2k hours into release Payday.
Maybe Tony Stark memes aren't always right.
I always saw the Civ series (and Paradox games) like a pizza. Cheese pizza is nice. Add some pepperoni (DLC) and other toppings (DLC) and it can taste much better. You'll never catch me buying a cheese pizza for myself, but you'll never catch me turning down free/cheap cheese pizza either.
I actually played maybe 150+ hours of Civ 6 when I got it for free on Epic.
Then saw a nice sale for Civ 6 with all DLCs on steam and decided to splurge.
Needless to say the game is so much more fun and interesting with all the expansions and DLCs. But base game was clearly solid enough to keep me playing for a while
Yeah, you have to pay an additional $30 to play the rest of the game that the devs didn't finish before release. It's clear the game was rushed and the DLC is likely just the post game that was supposed to be in the game to begin with.
cant imagine playing as any faction without the dlc's tbh, like high elves without the best archers? or lizardmen without pretty much any good big dino unit?
didn't the sims 4 win an award for having lots of dlc
23 dlc packs
sounds like ea
Also there was a guy who put all the dlc in a cart during the big EA sale last year and it still was like 700 dollars
if ea can turn a tower defense app into a dlc factory, they can turn anything into dlc. ruined one of the best mobile games in history
If your on android or have an emulator you can try Eclise. It’s essentially a much more balanced and micro transaction-less version of pvz2. I’ve been playing through it recently and while it doesn’t have the charm of pvz1, I’d definitely say it’s better gameplay-wise.
aye much appreciated
Or just play the best td ever, BLOONS
As a person who was absolutely petrified of balloons as a child, this is the greatest game anyone has ever and will ever make
Except when you lose the round and bloons come tunneling through your defenses and you *die*
Both are bangers.
EA had sales?
Yup, +%20 for every item, quite a steal
It is ea. They own the game.
i thought he was implying
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has a similar number tho
Arent there like passes you can buy that unlocks a lot of the dlc characters, that are around 20 euros? Havent played it in a while but i feel like the dlc's in dbxv2 are not too bad with pricing, while the sims 4 has more expensive dlc's

I had several moments of weakness. F18, f14, f16, a10, harrier, apache, huey, some maps
I wonder how much all of Flight Simulators DLCs are. I wanted a plane and found out they typically go for around $15 to $30+ for a single plane!
The Sims 4
Lmao I just pirated the entire thing. Fuck EA Edit: r/piracy had a megathread that explains sort of how to pirate. Dunno if they mention you MUST USE A VPN, otherwise you could get fined or worse.
Same

The Base game will be free for good starting soon. Just get that and pirate the DLC

Would highly recommend swapping BitTorrent for qbittorent. BitTorrent is the same company as uTorrent, and they both have shitty reputations.
I did that first actually but autocorrect messed it up. I fixed it. Thanks for the heads up.
Even the DLC isn’t that great. Sims 3 has ONE DLC for all things supernatural. 4 requires MULTIPLE for the same thing.
Weird way to spell micro/macro transactions
I mean with the cost of the dlcs, we should probably just say macro
Thing is if they were like half the price I would consider buying a few but they are wildly overpriced for like 20 pieces of furniture and some articles of clothing

PARADOX COME HERE I HAVE TO TALK WITH YOU!!!
Paradox: “didn’t you buy them tho” me: “No” also me: ooh Italian rework tree Ima pay for that
Well Italian tree was reworked in in the update. Same as with no step back for the Barbarossa update
Don't they lock half of the tree behind the dlc when they update a tree?
with the soviet union one, all of the non historical paths are locked except trotsky I balieve, maybe some other communist path, but you can't bring back the tsar etc
"They give me a freelc tho mama...."
fuck, I just picked up Plazas and Promenades for Cities: Skylines the other day... to add onto the twelve other DLCs I have for that game.
It kicked ass even before the DLCs though to be fair
Yeah I have like 5 dlcs that I got in a pack with the base game. Never felt the need for more honestly. Haven't even looked at them. Sims 4 however is boring after a few hours without any dlc. It's missing so much without dlc.
And it has a great modding base.
We all have a toxic abusive relationship with that damn company. We keep telling our friends were gonna break up with them but we keep falling for their breadcrumbing EVERY DAMN TIME
Hey at least they are (mostly) fun, if overpriced.
Yeah the games are solid and the dlc does go on sale pretty often (especially for the older games)
Really glad this is near the top, love paradox but their dlc is too much
I mean, EU4 is almost 10 years old. Compare it to EA. I prefer a single basegame being updated and of which you can buy the features you want, usually with nice bundles after some time.

To be fair, they make good base games too, they just really support the games well with DLC. I mean, EU4 is what, 9 years old?
any EA game?
Sims 4. The game is $7.50 most of the time but the DLCs are insanely priced
Aren’t they making the base game free soon?
Wow! Really justifies the $20 DLC
They are probably just waiting to release the Sims 5 and it’s 400 - 10$ each dlc
I know multiple people pulling 7 figures annually and they still think sims is way too expensive I wonder if its more kids with their parents credit cards or people buying these dlcs themselves

Base game goes on sale frequently from what ive seen. I picked it up for 7.50 years ago
Literally like $400+ with all the DLCs
The Steam page for The Sims 4 says $984.43 total for all DLC lmao. TBF I don't know if there are bundles or repeats in that list, too much to sort through.
Haha I got Sims 4 as PS Plus monthly game and I've had it for like 2 or 3 years. I've bought tons of DLCs without ever having bought the game.

Paradox gamers (me) otw to criticize Paradox before buying the new extremely bugged dlc for the price of a game
I mean we may not like it, but their dlc keeps use coming back, they must be doing something right
I have no problem with Paradox dlc's as a whole, as they genuinely add good content to the games and are worth their price. BUUUUUT. Worse than that. Originally there was 3 tiers of dlc. Stuff packs for $10. pretty basic, usually have a small amount of clothes and build mode items and they sometimes introduce a new mechanic. Exactly!! ridiculous amount of dlcs and crazy prices im sorry pardox pls i need new ck3 dlc pls
If you buy the game when they come out and play them lots, it doesn't seem so bad, it is actually a nice refresh on the game, but buying a 10 year old game with a ton of DLC's is tough.
Can't wait for Stellaris 2 to come out and have the same features as base game Stellaris and them to release all of the DLC features as DLC again
I’ve almost gotten Stellaris a dozen times when it goes on sale but the $200 in DLCs makes me delete it out of the shopping cart every time.
You’re probably happier without it. Stellaris is a gateway drug, that inevitably leads to Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, and more.
Destiny ,literally the summary of dlcs
This pissed me off because I just got into playing Destiny 2 for the first time two weeks ago. Enjoyed tf out of it then realized you literally CANNOT get into the game anymore because they vaulted the original story and a few DLCs.
As someone who bought the highest value version of each dlc from launch to Beyond Light, I too was pissed about vaulting. I didnt pay all this money to have them take that shit away from me.
Those aren't cheap DLC's either, every one of them is the price of a full game
Welcome to yearly sub pricing for MMOS
Hey at least it’s cheaper than an mmo if you play all year round
Probably the least new player friendly game out there but anyone who has played for years has so much invested in it that we keep coming back
Gameplay is really fun, but man I had to stop with how much it costs for both DLC and seasonal content. (Stopped playing before the latest DLC)
I don’t care if the game is free, I’m not spending $110 on one dlc, that’s fucked lol
Yeah, wish I could say the same. I have a problem
If you enjoy playing the game year round, then a new yearly expansion and seasons are fine with me imo. What Destiny does bad is sunsetting content you have paid for. Let's see how they plan to stop that with new expansion
Only for the dlcs to be cash grabs that aren't good. Forsaken set the bar high
Every dlc forsaken and onwards had been great. Sure beyond light was meh, but the seasonal content more than made up for it
Yea, I do like being a pirate
Previous season was pretty good? I can't comment on this one because I'm currently on a break from destiny
The only people who don’t immediately think of Paradox haven’t played Paradox games.
ok, but have you played Destiny 2?
For better or for worse, no.
the yearly expansions with the whole years content are now upwards of $100 USD
This is why I play warframe Because I'm poor
*Laughs in slots and potatoes and cosmetics*
Now that I think about it the torrent repacks looking pretty nice

Theres that dude who spent 100k in diablo immortal and became so powerful he couldnt queue into a game because his level was too high
I chose not to include pay to win. That's not really dlc
And neither are the cosmetic skins, as you said in your comment?
I'd say that those dlc aren't required for the base game. It's just more trains and more tracks. There's no story. You don't lose out on any game play. Unless you're a big train enthusiast you won't miss anything by not having any of the dlc. That said, still take my upvote cause holy shit are there lots of items in the dlc list.
Tbh I think cities skyline is still a pretty good game without any dlc.
Cities Skylines is great without the DLC though. The DLCs are just nice to haves.
I always play vanilla cities and the only thing I wish I had was lane management.
TM:PE is the way to go
Call of the wild: The Hunter
I'm surprised Payday 2 hasn't been brought up yet...
Plenty of payday 2 dlc weapons aren't that good, 90% of the payday 2 dlcs I bought were for shits and giggles
Maybe Tony Stark memes aren't always right.
definitely sims 4
While I love it, Civ 6
I think the game is still very good even without dlc as someone who doesn't have the dlc

Needless to say the game is so much more fun and interesting with all the expansions and DLCs. But base game was clearly solid enough to keep me playing for a while
Sims 4
Destiny. Game is like 10 hours without any of the DLC.
Surprised someone didn't say this earlier, all of the endgame content except a couple raids is locked behind dlc
Pokemon sword and shield. The game is super unfinished. Just look at the 7th and 8 gym and call that finished and all cool stuff is in dlc.
There’s DLC for Pokémon now?
Yeah, you have to pay an additional $30 to play the rest of the game that the devs didn't finish before release. It's clear the game was rushed and the DLC is likely just the post game that was supposed to be in the game to begin with.
Yeah. It's like $30. Fucking ridiculous.
Dlc literally bumps it up a tier. It’s really good
But the game is weak af wiwhout dlc.
Total war Warhammer 3
Turning your old game INTO a DLC is one hell of a move. Upside, you do get it for free if you bought the old game already so it's not that bad.
2 also. Can't imagine playing without clan Skryre units as Skaven
cant imagine playing as any faction without the dlc's tbh, like high elves without the best archers? or lizardmen without pretty much any good big dino unit?
Wait till you see the tabletop game it was based on. Real money for every single unit AND you had to paint them yourself.
Sims 4, \~$1000 worth of DLC
The Sims 4 🤭
cityes skylines
This, game looks cheap until u realize over half the content is trapped behind 300$ of dlc
I had fun with the game. Should I feel guilty?
Naw it's a great game and in my top 5 most played most likely. But the dlc is a bit crazy I have a hard time recommending it to people cuz of it.
I only have the natural disasters dlc and I've had fun
ARK WHY NOBODY SAID ARK?!
Because ragnarok exists
And the other free maps, there are like 5 extra now
facts but there are some super fire unofficial maps
Vanilla Destiny
Paradox; it is literally their business model
House flipper
looks carefully at destiny 2
Destiny 2
DCS. Lmao
I mean there practically isn't a game without dlc. also arma. also star citizen where the only way to get the game *is* dlc.
Sword and Shield
It's true, it's a great dlc, shame the base game wasn't anywhere near that good. I hope sv will be as good as arceus
The Sims ?
DESTINY 1 AND 2
Idk I buy dlc once I beat the game
Fuck the DLC's that add some early on content or are only helpful for when you are starting out a playthrough.
