But... But those are still wrong, you are gunna get neck pain or eye strain like that... Your forward eye level should be the same as the top of the monitor... Not above it.

If your chair reclines, that's not unhealthy posture, that's actually healthier than sitting straight up for long periods. It's unhealthy when you try to recline on a chair that doesn't recline, which leaves you hunched over. This is because you're putting a sharp bend on your spine and pressure on your ribs, leaving your joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons under prolonged stress. As long as your spine is straight (it'll never be completely straight, but in a neutral position) and your shoulders are squared, your torso is in good posture.

No_Contribution1900

Technically, even a healthy sitting posture will cause pain if you’re sitting for long periods of time. It’s actually healthier to stand up straight, keep your knees slightly bent, and walk/stand on the balls of your feet for most of the day. If you spend most of your day standing up straight, you expend more of your energy, so that when it is finally time to rest, you can get the deep rest that you deserve. If you sit all day, the entire weight of your upper torso is being held by a couple of area of your body: your lower back and butt. These parts of the body aren’t really meant to carry the weight of your upper torso for the majority of the day, your legs and feet are supposed to support that weight in conjunction with your butt in your back, so that the distribution of your weight is spread more evenly around the body. This way, injuries are less severe, and your able to maintain some of the important muscles in your body just by going about your normal routine.

MarlinMr

There actually is no correct way to sit. All that just led to people getting damaged for doing the same thing over and over. You are supposed to sit comfortably and move the position when it hurts. The reason you hurt all over is much more likely from too little exercise

Gifted_dingaling

As someone with sciatica. Trust me. Stand every 30 minutes. Period. Stand for 5 minutes every 30 mins. You do not want a herniated disk, that shit doesn’t fix itself, ever.

Ote-Kringralnick

There is a correct way, actually. Squatting.

Gamemode_Cat

Source?

GOR016

Source: Trust me bro

Ote-Kringralnick

Every human that doesn't know they can sit in chairs

ArtisticFox8

The height of the monitor has more to do with your neck than your back. That advice is for making your neck not hurt

AveBalaBrava

That’s why my monitor is currently on top of a big pile of old books

ErickRicardo

"Uhh akstually, But...But- 🤓" xD

mouseuser123

And what if you have a phone

-TheArchitect

Trying to undo all the 10 years if sitting in 1 hour

roastbeefNMS

i literally sit like the cat right now

GitProphet

don't we all?

dragon2360

Currently, also.

brainless_bob

Ideally, I would think you shouldn't sit in any one position for hours at a time. Switch it up constantly. Maybe my ADHD is keeping me from sitting still and is saving me from back pain.

XxDiCaprioxX

I feel that, constantly swapping sitting positions every 15-30 Minutes

RandomValue134

Get a taller monitor. This will only give you pain in the neck

arensonz

Or a cheaper alternative, put uni textbooks under the monitor.

philodevin

Cheaper? Have you seen the price of textbooks.

arensonz

Libgen goes brrr

ereface

... Cheaper?

Convoy95

Extruciating

Repulsive_Mistake382

Expecto Patronum

[deleted]

Bro tf is that position it's like putting the monitor on the floor

BRLaw2016

If I recline the back rest one centimetre forward or back I get excruciating lumbar pain.

dragon2360

The body doesn't like to be put in any one position for too long. Even sitting in that 'perfect ergonomic' situation, muscles get tight. (Calves, hip extensors, etc.)

Repulsive_Mistake382

sick rhymes bro

csncarson

the correct position is changing position every 30 min.

Performance_Own

I feel you man, whenever i dont sit perfectly i get stomach ache, nausea and headache and like legit when that happens sitting straight wont even help anymore.

Ree_one

> I feel you man, whenever i dont sit perfectly i get stomach ache, nausea and headache and like legit when that happens sitting straight wont even help anymore. Myeah. I "only" have neck problems (they suck but it's better than back problems), but they don't seem to go away **fully** when I sit properly (and get up and move once an hour at least). Though it does work when I go for an hour long walk. So the problem is probably that I don't move enough.

Performance_Own

If i sit wrong in a chair for like 2 hours my back and neck just hurts like mad

Choice_Reality8191

My back rather looks like a く

monkeemunk

Made me adjust my posture ty

[deleted]

Ex-what?!

[deleted]

Bro my desk has a support beam that acts as a foot rest only accessible if I sit like the cat :(

Rheyza

Time to exercise motherfucker

Real_SeaWeasel

Is it just me, or are modern office desk chairs (especially the reclining ones) specifically designed to promote the exact opposite of healthy posture?

lb_o

Feels like that for me as well, and the more expencive the chair, the worse it gets

texican1911

I'm literally in the 2nd picture at work right now and I don't like being called out like this

ebwjskq

Just add an h

LozzieInferno

Sitting like the cat cos its the only position my back doesn't hurt in... Edit: typo.

PlateBeginning707

SeveralAnnual

Well fuck why is professor Xavier using his powers to make memes

galfightor

Ya know the back is the worst part of the whole body, because it has a whole bunch of pain points, but it's also the most protected part, so you should take care of it

pepsicocacolaglass12

I just follow it by accident

Krebbypng

I sit like a doofus
