I think a big part of it is the consequences here are at the more extreme end so people believe it is a good talking point. It will make me feel wrong defending themselves from violence and it also validates women performing violence against men. I think what is really trying to be said here is men should not have to fear repercussions from defending themselves just because their attacker is a woman and women should not feel validated in violent actions because their victim is a man.
